As for Pan, I initially wasn’t impressed at all with the music. It took about a year for it to sink in and let me fall in love with the themes.@mrzimmerfan<br>Yeah, I definitely disagree. When I was watching Rogue One in theaters I kept getting taken out of the film because of the music, which isn’t something that I normally pay attention to when I watch movies. <br><br>And I know it gets criticized a lot, but I honestly love Jurassic World. The flat recording sound aside, I think it’s an intelligent score that does something new the franchise material while still paying tribute. Even Homecoming has grown on me, particularly Vulture’s theme.@Ds: i'm not a big fan for Pan, i liked the score, but Powell have MUUUCH better action/fantasy scores."Pan" was also a replacement score, and look at the marvelous Powell score we got... However I don't know how long he had to score it. Certainly a bit more time than what Giacchino got for Rogue One.The action music is flat in Rogue One?, agree if the score isn't as good as Jupiter Ascending, for example, but the action music is BETTER than Spider-Man or Jurassic World.<br><br>IMHO
Also new Harry Gregson-Williams score out today! Breath. To be fair, Giacchino didn’t have much time to work on Rogue One, which explains why certain portions (coughactionmusiccough) fell flat. It’s not a bad score at all, but yeah, John Powell is above and beyond a better composer. His recordings have life and energy, and while most of it still sounds like Powell, he is able to switch into Williams mode so easily.<br><br>In defense of Giacchino though, just go listen to Jupiter Ascending if you want a score on the same level as this. The action music is phenomenal, there are at least a dozen solid themes, and the recording doesn’t seem as flat as some of his other scores.I think Powell found his niche with this score...<br>Because he's WAY better at apeing Williams than Giacchino could ever be, and with way more energy....<br><br>And here Giacchino prides his work on Williams from his origins in video game music... <br><br>This blows Giacchino out of the ocean and into the moon. This surprises me, as I expected Giacchino to have such huge hard-on for Williams.
"Reminiscent Therapy" is amazing in the way it incorporates a lot of Williams' classic stuff making it feel very natural and organic, like it's part Powell's themes, like he does with "The Adentures of Han".<br><br>This is a really great scoreHe is the chosen one, the one who will bring balance to the film music world...Thats just 'do you bleed?' with a small insert?Haha, It's as the prophecy foretold.John Powell, the great uniter of film music fans
@MrZimmerFan<br><br>I actually like Rogue One, and I do understand why it leans so heavily on the original themes. Here the themes are incorporated more as fan service, but Powell is able to do wonders with interpolating them with his material. <br><br>And something I forgot to mention, this score reminds me so much of Pan in the action sequences. The percussion and brass writing is great lolim surprised how Powell uses his ANTZ percussion in this!<br><br>The track Train Heist, Into The Maw is good example of it.<br><br>This is the only score that will please the gang at JW and HZ alike. When JWFan and HZ.com are discussing the same score....'but not as heavily as Rogue One'<br><br>Because Rogue One have conections with certain aspects or characters from the OT?<br><br>An here you have a track with three themes (or cues) with no conections with the OT, Rogue One have more sense... but the score is fricking awesome :)So first impressions:<br><br>JP knocked this one out of the park! The whole score has this excellent swashbuckling vibe, which is surprisingly aggressive during the action sequences (entirely due to his trademark percussion).<br><br>The writing style is really interesting, it’s basically John Powell doing his usual style but with some Williams flourishes, especially during the softer cues. The Star Wars themes do return, but not as heavily as Rogue One. And of course the JW cue is great, although surprisingly structured more as an action cue as opposed to a concert suite.<br><br>And for some reason the Han theme sounds vaguely similar to Poe’s theme from Force Awakens.

I'm all for banning trolls, but the Balfe guy honestly didn't say anything that bad this time. He just seemed like he was expressing an opinion not spouting the same "Hans Zimmer's music sucks now wah, wah, wah" argument. Granted he was kind of being a dick about it, but not sure if it was worth a ban.

Olive2018-04-28 02:26:03
I disagree. The guy uses several different "screen names", including some already-known screen names, to make provocative comments. Do you want to be accepted? Use a single name and discuss what you get without being a coward.

superultramegaa2018-04-28 02:45:54
Okay, I'll be devil's advocate here for once.

1. He uses screen names now because Hybrid was banning him, though there is no reason why he used different people's names other than to be a dick so I'll agree with that.

2. If he ever wants to discuss things seriously he can't because he'll get banned. I think it's possible that he might've wanted to discuss more on John Powell's Solo.

However I'll agree that it is cowardly to constantly change his name. If he does want to peacefully discuss, he should stick to one name every time he comes back. Plus he was shitting on Kawczynski and Balfe, but part of me thinks it might be interesting to hear his opinions instead of him just shouting about people he hates.

His comment on the Transformers score of his admiration of Jablonsky's use of choir for the Decepticon theme was interesting, and hearing some of his criticisms of Balfe was insightful as I didn't know Balfe consistently used samples and had a cheaper aesthetic as I've never gotten invested in a Balfe score.

His problem is his aggressive presentation. I just think he would be an interesting cynic to hear from regarding RCP. Then again we have Meta for that and he's not nearly as much of a dick about it.

Hybrid Soldier2018-04-28 07:35:52
I don't care what he wants to say. He went too far, he's a no go.

No matter what his "name" on the site is.

superultramegaa2018-04-28 15:06:33
Fair enough. I agree it's his fault anyway if he did want to actually discuss anything.

Olive2018-04-29 03:29:55
Yeah, it's a question of ID. But for us, who are mere readers, the "name" is important.
Well, after all, I was not always "Olive" (bullshit name xD / it's my surname).

Does anyone know if the melody of God U Takem Laef Blong Mi is Hans Zimmer’s original composition or a traditional melody? Thanks!

It's traditional.

Maybe you do know Joe Kramer won't return to score Mission Impossible 6. And no one seems to know who will.
So here's my question : any chance to see someone from RC doing this ?

Thanks for reading me. Keep goin' your good job here, it's appreciated. :)

Hello great team of Hans Zimmer,

I was recently listening to "The Might of Rome" (Gladiator soundtrack) and I am craving to listen the long version of the piece around 2:38 - 2:48 (something like an oriental flute). Does it exist as a standalone composition? Is it inspired from some third party artist, if yes, can you please tell my which one?

Thanks!

Hi everyone. Does anybody know where i can get the Interstellar Complete Score ? It says Unofficial Release so I can't find it in any shop.

Damien, Moderator2017-10-15 12:45:41
Take a look at top of this page www.hans-zimmer.com/index.php?rub=discography&bt=3&numid=1
This is the reason why you can't find it in any shop and you will not get an answer here.

Martin2017-10-15 18:41:41
Thanks for reply. I asked Watertower Music and they said they did limited edition and that it may be sold out. I was looking if somebody got it from them or if it's just a mistake on their part.

Any word on a release date for Batman V Superman Expanded Score?

Edmund Meinerts2018-01-18 17:53:53
No. The tracklist here is for archival purposes and to my knowledge there has been no expanded score release announced. It may or may not leak in future, but there is no way of predicting if and when that would happen.

Hi, i just want to say that in my country movie composers don't come very often, not even to countries neer mine. Hans, like James Horner (RIP), James Newton Howard, Steve Jablonsky, Ilan Eshkeri, and more others, i just want to say that it would be awesome to come to my country. Chile needs some of this. I know that is almost imposible to happen something like that writing just one messege in one page, i just want to express myself. I hope it does. Greetings to all.

Hallo,
Weiß jemand was dazu?

LG

It's Snyder's daughter in the studio when music was recorded.

flovia2017-12-17 01:13:44
I think BGM stands for any sort of background music, e.g. caffe music, game themes and, sometimes, film scores. But, IMO, "score" sounds way beter than "BGM"

p.s. Plz, do not my English, imma russian...

Dear Hans,

I am your number one fan. Playing and listening to your music brings on me a sense of ecstasy. When the perfect song hits, an ordinary day becomes extraordinary. Even if I've heard your songs a million times before, they affect me the same way. It's the pulse of the beat, the flow of the chord structure, a repetitive keyboard part, background harmonies or the thump of a bass line.
The overall production of your tracks can bring this euphoria, making everyone wonder how you got the music to work.
I spend hours cataloging albums and genres, creating timelines, lists and graphs, as if trying to solve a physics equation. Simply trying to make sense of it all takes hours. The constant search for a new, essential artist, album or song is something I do, all for the love of music, this is why I know you and Rick Wakeman should join hands and do a project together. I am certain you and Rick have a special bond and are ready to make a great project together.

If we didn't have music, we'd have no purpose,

Kind regards and big hug from me,
Gilberto Palma.

Christy2017-11-09 22:57:27
I pretty much know you will never see this, Mr. Zimmer.
But, I feel compelled to tell you that you have positively impacted my life with your music - which touches my core.
Thank you for creating. Thank you for your vision. And, above all else, thank you for your music which invigorates me. renews me, inspires me, and makes me both smile and cry. Thank you for being.
