About his studio at RCP, is it rental or he owns the stuff? What happens to the gear when he is not around? That is probably the fairest thing anyone on this website will say about Clemmensen. :P@Anonymous<br><br>Christian Clemmensen believes that Hans Zimmer found his definitive voice back in the 1990s with scores such as Driving Miss Daisy, Rain Man, Crimson Tide, and Lion King. However, he has in reviews of later scores compared Zimmer's overly obvious chord progressions and masculinity with what the "rock ballad" did to rock-n'roll music of the '70s. To him, it's overly powerful, unsubtle, and aggressive music that appeals to the gut more than the heart or the mind. Some of Zimmer's most popular scores such as Gladiator, Pirates, and The Dark Knight he has given middling reviews for because the general sound is derivative from his earlier works, not colorful, and not creative. He also accuses Zimmer of starting a trend with overly-recycled, bombastic, masculine action music that's big on density and power and low on subtlety and personality. <br><br>I can definitely see where he's coming from, one cannot deny the similarities between Crimson Tide, Lion King, Gladiator, Pirates, Dark Knight and so forth. One also cannot deny that scores such as Dunkirk and Blade Runner 2049 qualify more as sound design than actual symphonic music (mostly). However, if he had his way, every film score would be shamelessly optimistic and flighty, all major chords (and occasionally alternating off-key), with prominent woodwinds and metallic percussion. He definitely knows what he's talking about, but he has an ideal image for film music in mind, and that very much comes through in his Zimmer reviews, some of which I think deserve much more credit than he offered (Pirates 3, Da Vinci Code, and Gladiator come to mind).a more orchestral fury roadTom is gonna score Mortal Engines<br>What kind of sound do you expect?
He has a studio at RCP but mostly work from his own home studio. His business is "Sacred Tiger Music."<br>Does Henry actually work for HZ at RCP or does he have his own film score company now like HGW?Why filmtracks always behave very Aggressive about hans zimmer and always trys to make his scores worthless ??!! Its odd for meAw Hell...<br><br>I guess it never did freeze over.Sorry, I should've been more specific. This is a comment I had originally posted on the Filmtracks forum, NOT from a Christian Clemmensen review. My bad.
Referring to the previous comment (how did it not reply to the the previous message?)That's not the actual review. The length is a pretty big giveaway. Also, I'm fairly certain he's still given some RCP efforts some good scores.WOW....color me impressed at Filmtracks. I thought that site was anti-Zimmer in all aspects far, wide, near and dear.Copied from Filmtracks:<br><br>Excellent score - a little slow in the middle third*, but some really stirring fantasy-adventure elsewhere. "The Internet" is Cue of the Year material. Although it's odd how little synth there is here, particularly in the finale, where the orchestra seems to completely take over; this isn't too bad of a thing because Jackman's orchestral skills are downright breathtaking at times. The references to other Disney scores/musicals (yes, including Star Wars) left a big dumb grin on my face.<br><br>*I get the sense that this movie might be too long (1 hour and 52 minutes). No you're not. I think Jackman has made some great score over the last through years.<br>And I think this is one of them. Both tracks with or without electronics
So I guess I'm the only one who likes less-electronic-Henry?Henry has been removing electronics for 4 years now...Listen to<br><br>A Big Strong Man In Need Of Rescuing.<br><br>That whole track is a damn easter eggI haven't seen the movie yet but I like the score more with each listen. Not a classic Zimmer by any means but still an enjoyable listen at its short running time. Looking forward to the movie as well. This is me or Henry Jackman removed the electronics this year it could be affect to the predator score because I was thinking about the predator score affect him to remove electronics and turned serious & dramatic. That's weird when Henry Jackman used a lot electronics & fun since 2009 to 2017 with his scores.

Does there exists official released Hans Zimmer ultra-audio tracks(or what they were called?)?

Thinking about the type of 2gb pr track type, the kind they use at High-End showings

Dear Mr. Zimmer,
on the YouTube there are thousends of videos playing your beatyful Music. Especially from your Music Inception and BladeRunner2049 plenty of Covers and "Remixes".
According to the YouTube Music Policies they are all forbidden.
Please tell me, whats going on?

Hybrid Soldier2018-10-02 00:07:31
You should rather ask Youtube...

Hans im Glyck2018-10-02 01:06:49
Come on, this is not a joke.
Finally, YouTube will terminate a channel for copyright violation.
I ask You: Is it allowed to use Hans Zimmers "Time", etc - in a YouTube-Video?

Hybrid Soldier2018-10-02 18:46:45
Hans doesn't own his scores, Time belong to Warner Bros, those would be the ones to contact !

Halle Herr Zimmer.
(Siehe: Youtube Music Policies)

Maestro Zimmer, like so many others, I am entranced by your choral piece "Aurora: Tribute to the Victims" first recorded in 2012. There must be a way that I can buy that recording. There are many versions floating around in the electronic sphere, but none with the clarity and beauty of your original. How can this be made available for purchase once again?

Dear, uncle Hans! For many years I have been watching your creativity, which inspired me to become a little composer. I'm not even 30 yet. And in a few years I have mastered the work with cinematic music. I will be very happy if you one day open my works (especially Mariartys Game) which I am sure you and your colleagues will like.

Thank you for what you are! With respect Alexander Bobkov!

I was wondering that is there a Hans Zimmer library you need to license from Remote Control.

I kinda saw a composer's Cubase setup and he labeled one of his folders, HZ STR, HZ BRS, and HZ Choir.

Does Zimmer have a brass and choir sample library you need to have a license for?

Dear Mr. Zimmer (or those interested),

Over the years I have always enjoyed some of the higher-intensity compositions you have produced and made a point of putting my money where my mouth is and actually buying the soundtracks - money well spent. I've used specific songs of your's to get through moments of fatigue at work and also to prepare (silly as it may sound) for sporting events, even working out or running. I found them better than any rock or even electronic-type energetic music, until such a point, naturally, that I'd listened to them too many times and the magic wore off. Some of your songs rise to a crescendo that sometimes are powerful but perhaps lost on those who are unfamiliar with the corresponding movie scene ("Flight" from Man of Steel, it rises gradually but the concept you capture is magnificent, "Time" from Inception as well comes to mind). Some are obviously and undeniably potent like "A Dog Chasing Cars" or, going way back to when I learned of your work, "The Battle" from Gladiator which reminded me of "Mars, the Bringer of War", -- or even the latest "Sea Wall".

Admittedly this is odd but I can't help but wonder if despite all the solicitations you must receive it seemed to me I might as well send the following two-fold feedback: in the same way I was pleased to learn that Daft Punk was handling the soundtrack for the modern remake of TRON (and what a fine job they did) I was also heartened to find that you were handling the soundtrack for Blade Runner 2049. It seemed a good sign to me at the time and I knew I would buy a ticket at that point. That was a movie (BR2049) I was worried they would BOTCH much in the same way they completely did whatever it was they did with remake of Total Recall (in which they completely stripped it of its cerebral essence and made it a very long chase-scene).

All of this is to express some appreciation and also plug an obscure pianist from Montreal who has been on the CBC and all that, who, when I spoke to him after a show and compared some of his energetic imaginative work (Nostos comes to mind, and damn he hit 99% of those complex piano notes) to your's he admitted it was a dream of his to work with you under any capacity. Of course I suspect nothing will come of this but either way I think it harmless to tip my hat your way as a long-time fan who has utilized your music for motivation many, many, many times and also note that on my esoteric playlists five or six came from you and one or two came from him (Nostos, Il, Hypoctite)

Lastly, it should be noted for the historians that one time Jean-Michel Blais saved us Canadians (if you do the collective math based on viewership) a great deal of time and intellectual agony. Chevy was running commercials during the NHL playoffs (last year, not the the latest Washington Capitals win) in which an irritating scenario of "real people" were supposed to judge cars/trucks that popped out from behind sliding doors or lifted from basements (aircraft-carrier-style), and the poor fools/actors/allegedly "real people" had to say something nice about it all. It was such garbage. How splendid, how refreshing, then, that they ran a good commercial with someone just winding corners and enjoying driving the damn car to the music, which I recognized as JMB's "Hypocrite". He saved the society a good 10k hours of perniciousness.

Whew! That's all from me. Love the music, keep it up. Please give JMB a shot I think you'll find his attitude/ethic/skills refreshing. Regardless of that at least it was worthwhile of me to express my appreciation for ten years of masterful original music on your part anyway.

I'm all for banning trolls, but the Balfe guy honestly didn't say anything that bad this time. He just seemed like he was expressing an opinion not spouting the same "Hans Zimmer's music sucks now wah, wah, wah" argument. Granted he was kind of being a dick about it, but not sure if it was worth a ban.

Olive2018-04-28 02:26:03
I disagree. The guy uses several different "screen names", including some already-known screen names, to make provocative comments. Do you want to be accepted? Use a single name and discuss what you get without being a coward.

superultramegaa2018-04-28 02:45:54
Okay, I'll be devil's advocate here for once.

1. He uses screen names now because Hybrid was banning him, though there is no reason why he used different people's names other than to be a dick so I'll agree with that.

2. If he ever wants to discuss things seriously he can't because he'll get banned. I think it's possible that he might've wanted to discuss more on John Powell's Solo.

However I'll agree that it is cowardly to constantly change his name. If he does want to peacefully discuss, he should stick to one name every time he comes back. Plus he was shitting on Kawczynski and Balfe, but part of me thinks it might be interesting to hear his opinions instead of him just shouting about people he hates.

His comment on the Transformers score of his admiration of Jablonsky's use of choir for the Decepticon theme was interesting, and hearing some of his criticisms of Balfe was insightful as I didn't know Balfe consistently used samples and had a cheaper aesthetic as I've never gotten invested in a Balfe score.

His problem is his aggressive presentation. I just think he would be an interesting cynic to hear from regarding RCP. Then again we have Meta for that and he's not nearly as much of a dick about it.

Hybrid Soldier2018-04-28 07:35:52
I don't care what he wants to say. He went too far, he's a no go.

No matter what his "name" on the site is.

superultramegaa2018-04-28 15:06:33
Fair enough. I agree it's his fault anyway if he did want to actually discuss anything.

Olive2018-04-29 03:29:55
Yeah, it's a question of ID. But for us, who are mere readers, the "name" is important.
Well, after all, I was not always "Olive" (bullshit name xD / it's my surname).

Hello great team of Hans Zimmer,

I was recently listening to "The Might of Rome" (Gladiator soundtrack) and I am craving to listen the long version of the piece around 2:38 - 2:48 (something like an oriental flute). Does it exist as a standalone composition? Is it inspired from some third party artist, if yes, can you please tell my which one?

Thanks!

This is the reason why you can't find it in any shop and you will not get an answer here.

No. The tracklist here is for archival purposes and to my knowledge there has been no expanded score release announced. It may or may not leak in future, but there is no way of predicting if and when that would happen.
