interessting... i really think it can be a HZ/ BW / JJ track, it doesn't sound that commercial and basicWhere can I find this version? I have the standard version but not this one.Randy is obviously wrong and an idiot in my point of view.Just watched the movie and it was awesome, well not as great s the first one, but still very entertaining.<br><br>As for the score, by now I have just listened to it in the movie and there worked perfectly, I would say even better than in the first one, with some old themes and some very good new themes, specially I love the Poppy theme.<br><br>Now I will listen to the album to see what tracks are we missing but it looks like a really complete pack.Haven't had a chance to listen to this one. Are you saying the tunes presented on album are not recorded with live musicians? If true then that would come as a surprise as I see some names in the full credits above that are associated with orchestra recordings, including Gavin Greenaway as the conductor.
maybe quality is also not the correct word. its the function of the music. i just think the music of Armageddon is much stronger in its function as a filmscore than Pirates III. i also think the themes are stronger and rabins main theme is used in a wide range. but this also a matter of taste ofc.Yeah, but the quality of the acting beneath the score doesn't affect the quality of the music.I guess that's for the Statesmen. Would have preferred an all-out Western sound for them to contrast with the Bond-type music for the Kingsmen...that would have been fun!Great fun score. It has everything I expected. Although that country vibe in some tracks is nice not really my cup of tea.i love this movie and soundtracks !
I hope LLL didn't microedit this as much as the first one.So, there's music in the Road to 2049 site, and it's pretty cool, but no idea if it's actual score. The lenght seems more like promo track for trailers.<br><br>Would be great to know where it's from, score or otherwise, because it's a great track and hope the score sounds like this!<br><br>Here's the site <br>roadto2049. bladerunnermovie. comI thoroughly enjoyed King Arthur. Good acting, Good Story, Incredible Score, perhaps underrated.iTunes SriLanka is the first itunes store to get the new releases online on friday. But by now you can also go to iTunes New Zeland or something and checkout the album and it’s samples.@Armageddon<br><br>1. i love the movie. 2. rockhound is the most annoying character in the whole movie, but at least he has a cool name. ;) 3. bruce willis is smiling in almost all his emotional scenes and not just in this movie. but you know, in germany the movies are dubbed, so his "german" voice and the music helped alot to make these scenes nontheless convincing. to be honest, the goodbye scene was even more sad than the dying scene of leonardo dicaprio in Titanic. so you see, what impact the music had.<br><br>@Edmund<br><br>i didnt say the movie is bad, just bruce willis in a couple of scenes. so....the music had alot more to do than in Pirates III. the impact of the music in Armageddon must be way stronger to make these scenes work than in Pirates III. in Pirates III these scenes would have been also convincing without the music, because the acting was strong enough. but nontheless the music in Pirates III adds alot to the scenes and makes them stronger. just my opinion.
Where did you get this information and samples?Where can I listen to those samples? I would love to hear some bits of the score before watching the movie. The score has 25 tracks and is about 1 hour and 16 minutes long. Samples sound awesome. Great action score with new theme's and variations of the old ones. Looking forward to hearing it in full.Total video game score, circa 98. This is one of those scores -<br> my first - that you just didn't get enough of no matter HOW many cds they released of it. Hell, it wasn't until 2000 when I finally got the complete score on 2 cds. Sadly, by that time I burned out on it...So rockhound...your argument is that the score is better because the movie is worse? That's a new one, gotta admit... :D<br><br>to Armageddon, do it! The complete score, if you can. It's incredible!

Namaste Hans!
What an incredible 1st half of the concert last night in Toronto!

I have high sensitivities to sound, lights, smells, and a few other elements.
Just would like to let you know that even though I brought my dark sunglasses for the bit of strobe lights I was expecting, it didn't help too much when some of the numbers in the 2nd half seemed to be bombarded with strobe lights!
It actually didn't leave a good feel, by the end of the concert. I realize it is not all about me, but as we were leaving, my son, daughter and I heard some people in the elevator on the way out, that they were also affected by the overwhelming strobe lights! Lady said she got a headache from it! My son wasn't feeling well, but he came because he loves your music so much, as my daughter.

Anyway Sir, your music is so great, it does not need strobe lights, they actually take away some of the high quality of your music because they are so distracting.

GREAT DRUMMER!!!! OMG!!!! What an amazing energy he has!
Your talks in between the music was GREAT to listen to, and deeply inspiring!

The one piece that brought me to tears was the theme from DeVinci Code, and that was just the violin playing in the beginning, simple and moving!

THANK YOU HANS ZIMMER for your MUSIC, CREATIVITY, and SHARING with the WORLD!!!!

Good Blessings to you and your loved ones, and all the other artists and crew behind the scenes, who make the in front the scenes happen!

Atlanta Concert - Tuesday, July 18th, 2017.

The concert was good last night, but not great. Re: there was a preponderance of bass that "washed out" the sound of all the instruments and detracted from the overall music. Wish I could have told him. The bass was so powerful that my wife's chest actually hurt afterward! Absolutely wonderful music and as a musician, I can really appreciate the talent, but the bass needs to be taken down several notches. Don't know if he'll ever see this. Actually listening to the Da Vinci Code score right now.

Dear Hanz,

I was at the Canandaigua concert last night, and I just wanted to say that your music reached across the world and touched me. I can't believe that a persona such as yourself would appear just an hour away from my tiny home town in rural upstate New York.

It's been my dream to write music for film for a long time, and I'm on my way to Malibu for college to study music. I've been afraid of failure in the impossible music industry, but your powerful concert reminded me that if I don't at least give music a try, I will live an empty life. Just like you said, a musician's life isn't a bad life. The challenge is incredible and the rewards sometimes slim, but in the end, it's a life with meaning, a life with something to believe in. Your music renewed that belief in me, for better or for worse.

I just wanted to let you know that, and thank you for being humble enough to come all the way out to the middle of nowhere just to bring us a little hope in the world.

I'm french and drove 400 km to be in Nîmes on june the 24th and I've never felt so lucky than this day.
To see and to hear your musicians and you playing was a dream. I fell in love with your music when I was about 15 and had tears in my eyes when hearing the Rain Man theme.
You're a great composer M. Zimmer and a great man. Respectful to your musicians and audience.

I hope you'll be back in France soon, not just for me but for all those who couldn't see you until then and, even if I have more kilometers to drive, I'll do them easily to have the chance to see you again on stage.

Affectionately.

Live Tour Sound Levels - Glasgow edition

Leaving this comment here as not sure where else one would feedback on such things but...

I was at the show in Glasgow last night (18/06/2017) and sadly had a similar experience to quite a few of the posters below. The sound levels were really, really off and made the melody inaudible for most of the concert. For the first half of the concert it seemed there was some effort to counteract this (i.e. the pieces would find their level about half way through each one) but the second half of the concert was just a wall of sound. For example, The Wonder Woman Theme ("Is She With You?") was utterly unrecognizable except that Hans Zimmer made reference to it once the piece ended. It made me sad that all the build, nuance and explosive musical climax that HZ and his team are known for were lost in the cacophony.
I left feeling really angry and to be honest angry for the performers most of all. You can see that they play their socks off, are ridiculously talented and love what they do, but they were greatly misrepresented by the poor levels last night.

To be clear, I saw this concert last year in another city and it was amazing. When the music is allowed to shine it is truly wonderful. So my issue was with the poor sound quality rather than the music selection itself. I find it quite shocking that for a tour that has been going for well over a year, with a set running order, talented musicians and crew, and with the technology that we now have, that the sound could be such a disaster.

That being said, if you get a chance go see this tour. The lighting and staging are done well. Hans' anecdotes are charming and the musicians are a joy to watch. When the sound levels are on point the music is powerful and moving, and if you are fan of his body of work you really need to hear Hans Zimmer's compositions live.

Although a sad time you helped me get through the day and night. Gladiator was done so beautifully that night I balled my eyes out throughout the performance.

I saw Hidden Figures this weekend and as a former adolescent NASA geek from the 60's I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and the stories. There were only two places in the film where the music grabbed my attention. Those times were after John Glenn's lift-off as he climbed into orbit and when he had his ticker tape parade. Can you tell me, is that a snippet of Carmen Ohio I am hearing?" If so, it is a great tribute to Sen. Glenn and his love for the Buckeye State. If not, chalk it up to failing hearing and an vivid imagination.

Having been a member of the OSU Marching Band, I assure you that you did hear the first 5-6 notes of "Carmen, Ohio" (the Ohio State alma mater) during the launch sequence.

Glenn himself went to Muskingum College, about 50 miles away from Ohio State. I don't know what their alma meter is.

Dear Mr Zimmer,

I would also like to join the comments about the concert in Budapest. I traveled with my mother from Novi Sad, Serbia and we bought the best tickets available, since we are both devoted fans. My mother started following Your work since she was a teen from the early 80s and she introduced me to movie scores for the first time when I was a child. Ever since, we listened to every new score with great admiration and excitement and we were hoping to have the opportunity to hear the live performance.

Finally, we bought the tickets for Budapest, but instead of the long anticipated evening filled with divine beauty of music, we were devastated during the second part of the concert.

The first part was truly what You are known for and what people want and expect to hear. I must say that the theme from the Gladiator moved me deeply and it represented the high-peak of the evening. The themes from The Lion King and the DaVinci Code were simply perfect and incredibly emotional as well. I would especially like to praise the solo sections of Ms Tina and Mr Lebo.

From all the magnificent and beautiful themes from King Arthur (which I consider inevitable to perform), Pearl Harbor, Rush, Spirit the Stallion of the Cimarron, The Last of the Samurai and Tears of the Sun and many many others, the setlist of the second part of the concert was a painful disappointment.

Instead of blissful peace it brought nothing but aggression and destruction with that much emphasis on the electric guitar. It is the type of music that goes quite well with the superhero movies, nevertheless we expected more themes with the symphonic orchestra instead of all that electronics. When I came home, the first thing I did was to listen to the good old themes I mentioned above, just to erase the memory of the evening before.

However, I would go to the concert again without a second thought if the setlist would be modified and performed with more acoustic instruments and piano to represent the very best of Your work, which is how You initially won the audience.

All of the above was said and written in hope that You will take these remarks and the comments of Your longterm fans in consideration.

Yours faithfully,
Sara

Oh ... I'm supposed to write in English ... this will be nothing :-) Sorry guys ... I want to talk about my emotions here ... I can not bend in the language ...

Oh...

Henrike + Harry

Dear Hans Zimmer,

I just came home from your 2017.06.01 Budapest concert. I have to say that the first half of your concert was superb (which included Gladiator and Pirates of the Caribbean), but the second half was a huge disappointment. It resembled more a heavy metal concert than an actual symphonic concert. I could scarcely recognize any musical themes during the second half, seemed like you just left your talent in the first half. Also I deeply missed the music of King Arthur, which is one of your (if not) best score. Please next time try harder and leave out the heavy metal stuff, your audience loves you for your melodic orchestra and not the brainless bass.

Sincerely: Endre

Hello Hans Zimmer,

We visited your concert yesterday here in Budapest. Unfortunately it was a big disappointment. The first half was OK, but the second half was terrible. It was like a very loud heavy metal concert, we had to cover our ears and not just our ears, but we also had to close our eyes, because of the constant, annoying stroboscope. It was harmful for both eyes and ears and we have seen children and even a pregnant woman in the concert. I am sure it was not healthy for them either. We had to leave 10 minutes before the end because my wife got sick.

What a disappointment...

Regards, Peter

Dear Hans,

me and my wife visited the concert in Leipzig, Germany on May 24th 2017. We are big fans of Hans’ music and were in joyful anticipation to see him playing live some of our most favorite songs.

We had tickets for the best category right in front of the stage. By the way: we also visited John Williams and we have tickets for James Newton Howard as well.

But sadly this concert was a total disaster and we drove back home with nothing else than disappointment and anger. Compared to John Williams, where we were totally excited and told everybody about the great concert, we weren’t able to do this for the Hans Zimmer concert.

Let me explain in short, how we experienced this Hans’ concert.

1) Sound
The sound was horrible. The bass (especially sub-bass) was way to loud. Everything was booming, the sound was ‚muddy‘ and totally distorted. Vocals were hearable and understandable only if the band was playing very quitely.

At least, many people had to cover their ears because of the high loudness. And some people left the concert because of the bad sound. And just as a note: such high levels are harmful to health and if you like your fans to hear your music in the future, you shouldn’t kill their hearing ability!

Front of House was at the very end of the hall - so they didn’t hear how bad it was in front of the stage - and the most expensive seats.

I have to say this was no professional work. It seems like they just tried to kill any noise by turning up the volume to the max (like in the 80s) instead of optimizing sound and setup adjusted to the hall and the audience.

2) Lightshow and screen
The lightshow was a lowlight as well.

Almost the whole lightshow was based on strobe effects and flashing lights - no matter if the moving hads were flashing or the psychedelic moving images on the big screen were flickering and flashing. I was not able to watch this concert longer than a few seconds and then I had to close my eyes for a few seconds before I was able to watch again. Two hours of strobing and flickering lights, all the way from light to dark and back again in high frequencies was very exhausting. And it wasn’t only me. I saw a lot of people keeping their heads down and were watching the ground and not the stage.

Lucky me, I’m not an epileptic….

The big screen was used only for this irritating images and sometimes for pre-recorded! scenes, where some of the musicians were playing their instruments instead of showing the band or Hans’ playing live or if Hans’ is telling stories about the songs, his live or his friends and band colleagues.

At least this kind of lightshow and use of the big screen didn’t make it possible to see the artists faces. So it’s a bit like with the sound… You couldn’t hear them, but you couldn’t see them as well.

So why do you visit a concert? Right, to see the artist play and hear, what they play. Both wasn’t possible or a joy that day.

There are many clips on YouTube, where you can see and hear what we experienced. And no, the distorted sound is not caused by „bad mics“ of the smartphones...

I’m very sad to say this, but this was the worst concert of my live. I’m not able to tell anything good about this event - and everybody was expecting the total opposite. And to be honest - I wish I could get my money back, for the very first time in my live after visiting a concert. It was such a waste of time and money :(
