Really want this score!!Do we know if Lorne Balfe will be involved in Dune? Maybe he could compose the Dune seriesAnd streaming practically dominates how the majority listen to music. Physical media is costly and expensive to manufacture and don't sell very well in stores as everyone prefers to to use Spotify and getting the same album for free. Same goes for movies and TV shows as well with Netflix. For me it's easy.
If there is a cd version I buy it. If there is only digital version.....NO
I'll pay for music while there are physical format (only cd really). I'm not interested in pay for downloads,Spotify, etcLorne has nothing to do with interstellar
GITS 2.0? I hope not.I have no idea why, filmmusicreporter wrote about it...Seriously? Why they make this decision? They want to sound like Interstellar or what?LOL, Lorne is co-composing "Ad Astra" with Max Richter, that guy is everywhereI think we can call Ian Brown McCarthy the Anti-MacArthur....lol.... Where MacArthur set out to prove everything was by Zimmer, Ian proves everything is by Lorne. ;)

Kidding, mostly. Lorne's contributions, especially where he has "producer" credits like on this score, are undeniably underrepresented. I've always considered Lorne a co-composer here, just like on Inception, Sherlock Holmes, and Kung Fu Panda 2-3.
Not to nitpick, but even "near co-composer" is downplaying Lorne's role IMO; I've had him listed as co-composer in my personal library for a solid year now.

On a relate note: man, Hans and Lorne make damn good music together. What I want to know is if the album version of Nixon Defeated is the solo Hans alt or notFeels like there are more Balfe credits on this version than on the album (e.g. Status Suite, solo Hans on the album, Hans/LB here). In fact I'd go so far as to label him a near co-composer here, just like Inception and Sherlock Holmes.Any word on where this can be found, or if it actually exists? H-Z (here) is the only place any of these tracks (let alone mention of a complete version of this score) can be found. Why you haven't update about David Buckley with Angel Has Fallen score yet?
Yep, fun (if slight) score to a very fun movie. "Get it On" is a great action cue.It was also one of the first HG-W's scores I ever listened to (way back when!), so maybe it's just nostalgia talking.
But it's worth a listen at least. It's a shame no one talks about this score.

It's a great listen if you love heavily percussive music!

Not a highlight in HG-W's carreer by any means, but it's a fun ride, and has some neat unique sounding stuff courtesy of Heitor Pereira, as well as plenty of goold ol' MV style synth/orchestra pounding! He returns to the hitman's bodyguard part 2I was honored, back in 2006, to meet both Nick Glennie-Smith and Harry Gregson-Williams.

I talked with both about The Rock, and here's what they told.

Nick & Hans worked very closely on most of their cues. That's why it's so hard to notice any difference between their own styles (and why they share most of the credits).
Harry worked separately from Nick & Hans. He remembered working on the San Francisco Chase (though we know Don Harper helped at some point in the process), and on "a lot of the action material from the second half of the movie, once the heroes reach Alcatraz".
The credits here tend to prove they were right.

All the Opening Titles / SEAL Attack is a bit complicated. Hans might have written the theme, but it also might be arranged for pictures by Nick Glennie-Smith (plus there's a lot more going on in these tracks than the man theme alone). So, well, I guess the final result still is a collaborative effort.

HELP - fans like you may be able to help me :0)
In the big battle scene from "On stranger tides" the score "lends" a little bit from a big classical score.
I just can't remember which classical piece. Can you help me? I'm going slightly mad here.
Best wishes
Louise - Denmark

It doesn't.

Go to IMDB and check the soundtrack / source cue listing if you don't believe me.

I really like the music Hans Zimmer and the people he works with create and I became curious about his work and his career. So I visited some websites and found the following information on imdb.com :

"He told in an interview that he would retire for some years after The Dark Knight, saying he has been exhausted in the past years. He also said that he wants to help young composers and would produce their scores..."

That impressed me and earned my appreciation. But then I checked whether it's a valid information or not because I thought it would mean that he wants to try to help and support young composers, that he would try to encourage and promote young talents. Anyways I must have got that wrong because when I came to this site one of the first things I read was " Hans Zimmer and other composers from Remote Control do not accept demos or unsolicited audio/video material. Please, don't ask us how to contact them either. " But then if I didn't get it wrong, and I must say I hope so, how will he be able to discover talents? If there was somebody who is really a great composer/musician, how could he get to know it when it says that he doesn't want to be contacted? I'm just curious about that and I hope I can get some answers, thank you (:

Alex2011-10-09 07:49:03
You said you were curious - here are the answers

1. Start composing ; get a degree ; compose for anything you can get paid for.

2. Get representation - Zimmer/Rifkin Remote Control Productions can't solicit material from you or Joe Compose without an (accredited) agent or manager.

3. In terms of contacting - these (awesome) dudes can't because they run a FAN SITE.

4. Networking - everyone knows someone. And some people might know a guy who's an RCP dude. Being nice and a book of faces are your film friends are key here.

5. GET OUT THERE AND DO IT. Because procrastination gets you nowhere.

Now ...go.

^ This all applies to Lorne Balfe's early career.

Does anyone know where I can find a copy of a song called "Price"? I understand it was either composed or remixed by Ryland Allison while working with Hans Zimmer.
Any leads?

Saw new Steve Mcqueen film "Shame"at Venice Film Festival last week. The opening & closing music is very similar to The Thin Red Line score. Does anyone know if this is intentional? Is it a variation on the original theme? HZ is not credited...

@Antas, Nicolas and possibly Damien
The 5-star rating system: It kind of gives a much more vague/inaccurate idea of a score's real rating than the old 10/10 system since it apparently can't display half stars or fractions of stars.

Is this a capability you're planing to add to the 5-star system? If not, well, I like the 5-star idea, but the 10/10 system was really more useful...

Damien, Moderator2011-06-30 21:55:55
I think displaying half star (or even quarter but perhaps less readable) could be done, but you will not be able to rate it with such a detail (you will be able only to give whole star note).

Feliz2011-06-30 22:42:00
Right, I think that would be fine. You could still get a better idea of the aggregate fan rating, or if the HZimmer.com rating really is a 4.5 instead of a 4, etc.

Hallo!
Leave no man behind ist mein absoluter favourite. Immernoch.

Hello Mr. Zimmer, thank you so very much for your great, great soundtrack of 'pirates of the caribbean 4'! As soon ist was available at amazon I bought it and now it runs in 'infinite loop'.

But - alas - I do not understand the textes of the choir-parts, for example in 'mermaids' or 'on stranger tides'. My english ist not so good (as you can read ;-]). Is there a possibility to get the textes, can we read them anywhere in the internet?

Well, if there ist no chance - thank you despite for your great music! Sabrina

Sabrina2011-06-20 20:53:37
Und texte - ja, ok, the lyrics.

smith2011-06-20 22:07:52

kaka2011-06-16 04:12:41
I hate to break this out but....

The Green Lantern OSt really sucks....Its like He's trying too hard to be like Zimmer. Which is exactly what Doyle did with Thor...Tried too hard. but Doyle's score was way more coherent than this one...
