I suspect that the release was just what they had originally planned, with a couple of bonus tracks thrown in to appease Fox. They likely didn't put too much thought in what they added, since people who have spoken with Lorne said he wasn't aware of the release and was surprised Prayer wasn't on it. I'm just glad anything got released at all after everything that has gone before.

Regarding that theme you mentioned, is it one that sounded like the personal motif Ethan has in M:I Fallout? Because while I did initially assume that was Balfe too, it seems it was actually Richter. Haven't gotten to hear Lorne's parts yet, so who knows he if he also did a similar thing. It’s not included and I’m very confused. I think there’s a good amount of unused tracks or the way the score was used was so terrible that only few tracks were memorable to me.

There’s a theme that plays during two tragic moments - I thought it was “Prayer” but it isn’t. I think it’s by Lorne as it’s closer to the direction he took.

I wish they gave us more Balfe :(I know this is probably the wrong place for it but I'd love if Hnas would one day release a CD of just his demo sketches and suites. I find hearing the original intentions/ideas even when rough really fascinating.11.22.19Yeah lol one way or another... :P
21. Hello, Beastie! (3:42)

Geoff Zanelli will be haunted by the specter of the PotC franchise until the day he dies, lolAfter listening to the whole thing, I can say that, while not as great as Newton Howard, Zanelli did a great job in here, adapting the original themes as well as creating some new ones.

The first half of the album drags a bit, but the second half is really fantastic! Is a CD release being planned?

If so, when is it coming out?zimmer said once, that he was very satisfied of how his music was presented in the ost and that it would let the music speak in that way as he wanted to be heard, and that there aren't much of importing cues that should have been added or released.

but i guess he hasn't recognized how much love his score have gotten over the years, until his first world tour. there has been a huge demand and loud screaming after the tracklist of his show had been released and there was no sign of last samurai. people complained and asked (esp. through this site) for a cue of Last Samurai to be played in their show, but it the developement of the show was already at its end and so he hadn't the chance to include a cue of it aswell. but atleast he recognized how much people are loving that score and respect his work on it. maybe that has changed his mind and view to the score and a propper and complete release of the score...@Hybrid Soldier, out of curiosity, why is the Last Samurai have conditions? A better way to ask is, what is the backstory with it what seems to cause reservations for Hans? Thanks!
Really fantastic writing here, definitely taking inspiration from JNH’s style without trying to copy. And the adaptation of Maleficent’s “curse” theme from the first score in “The Phoenix” is definitely a highlight. No idea, and Last Samurai is not a no-go from Hans. It might have been under certain circumstances in the past but last time I asked him he was open for it (under some conditions, obviously).@Hybrid Soldier: Do you know if there is any chance LLL would take this as a candidate for a propper release? Or is it a no-go for Zimmer like with Last Samurai?I think prayer is private video from Lorne Balfe's YouTube Channel. Also, there have prayer video still here by YouTube Search by another channel posted the videoCan anyone confirm if "Prayer" is on the OST? Since the video has been deleted, I'm not sure if anyone has a saved copy to check.
I would buy a copy of an official release of this score. The Jablonsky variations is one of my favorite HZ tracks.Just listened to the first track, "Mistress of Evil", and Zanelli kept some of the themes from James Newton Howard!

I'm so happy about this and if the rest score is like this, it could be one of the scores of the year.

Really excited about the full thing! From what i hearing from the samples, it seems Zanelli make a great score.@Andreas
JNH did such a great job with the first score, I honestly didn’t expect them to return to the same themes. Super happy to hear this!Saw the film yesterday, the score relies heavy on JNH's themes and are used a lot throughout the film. Great choral work and a few standout action moments from Zanelli. For me this one felt similar as his approach to Dead Men Tell No Tales in case of using established themes.

I just bought the album Kettle Whistle by Jane's Addiction and to my surprise I saw Harry Gregson-Williams produced a couple of tracks on it. Some of these tracks were also mixed/recorded at Zimmer's old studio, Media Ventures. As a fan of both Jane's and HG-W, I was pretty excited about this. Anybody here know more about this unusual collaboration?

HELP - fans like you may be able to help me :0)
In the big battle scene from "On stranger tides" the score "lends" a little bit from a big classical score.
I just can't remember which classical piece. Can you help me? I'm going slightly mad here.
Best wishes
Louise - Denmark

It doesn't.

Go to IMDB and check the soundtrack / source cue listing if you don't believe me.

I really like the music Hans Zimmer and the people he works with create and I became curious about his work and his career. So I visited some websites and found the following information on imdb.com :

"He told in an interview that he would retire for some years after The Dark Knight, saying he has been exhausted in the past years. He also said that he wants to help young composers and would produce their scores..."

That impressed me and earned my appreciation. But then I checked whether it's a valid information or not because I thought it would mean that he wants to try to help and support young composers, that he would try to encourage and promote young talents. Anyways I must have got that wrong because when I came to this site one of the first things I read was " Hans Zimmer and other composers from Remote Control do not accept demos or unsolicited audio/video material. Please, don't ask us how to contact them either. " But then if I didn't get it wrong, and I must say I hope so, how will he be able to discover talents? If there was somebody who is really a great composer/musician, how could he get to know it when it says that he doesn't want to be contacted? I'm just curious about that and I hope I can get some answers, thank you (:

Alex2011-10-09 07:49:03
You said you were curious - here are the answers

1. Start composing ; get a degree ; compose for anything you can get paid for.

2. Get representation - Zimmer/Rifkin Remote Control Productions can't solicit material from you or Joe Compose without an (accredited) agent or manager.

3. In terms of contacting - these (awesome) dudes can't because they run a FAN SITE.

4. Networking - everyone knows someone. And some people might know a guy who's an RCP dude. Being nice and a book of faces are your film friends are key here.

5. GET OUT THERE AND DO IT. Because procrastination gets you nowhere.

Now ...go.

^ This all applies to Lorne Balfe's early career.

Does anyone know where I can find a copy of a song called "Price"? I understand it was either composed or remixed by Ryland Allison while working with Hans Zimmer.
Any leads?

Saw new Steve Mcqueen film "Shame"at Venice Film Festival last week. The opening & closing music is very similar to The Thin Red Line score. Does anyone know if this is intentional? Is it a variation on the original theme? HZ is not credited...

@Antas, Nicolas and possibly Damien
The 5-star rating system: It kind of gives a much more vague/inaccurate idea of a score's real rating than the old 10/10 system since it apparently can't display half stars or fractions of stars.

Is this a capability you're planing to add to the 5-star system? If not, well, I like the 5-star idea, but the 10/10 system was really more useful...

Damien, Moderator2011-06-30 21:55:55
I think displaying half star (or even quarter but perhaps less readable) could be done, but you will not be able to rate it with such a detail (you will be able only to give whole star note).

Feliz2011-06-30 22:42:00
Right, I think that would be fine. You could still get a better idea of the aggregate fan rating, or if the HZimmer.com rating really is a 4.5 instead of a 4, etc.

Hallo!
Leave no man behind ist mein absoluter favourite. Immernoch.

Hello Mr. Zimmer, thank you so very much for your great, great soundtrack of 'pirates of the caribbean 4'! As soon ist was available at amazon I bought it and now it runs in 'infinite loop'.

But - alas - I do not understand the textes of the choir-parts, for example in 'mermaids' or 'on stranger tides'. My english ist not so good (as you can read ;-]). Is there a possibility to get the textes, can we read them anywhere in the internet?

Well, if there ist no chance - thank you despite for your great music! Sabrina

Sabrina2011-06-20 20:53:37
Und texte - ja, ok, the lyrics.

smith2011-06-20 22:07:52

I hate to break this out but....

The Green Lantern OSt really sucks....Its like He's trying too hard to be like Zimmer. Which is exactly what Doyle did with Thor...Tried too hard. but Doyle's score was way more coherent than this one...
