Maybe this is just the sceptic in me speaking, but the process is a bit different this time around to when he did the original. This time, he has an existing score to pull from. Those themes are set in stone. And this is, from what I understand, essentially a shot-for-shot remake, so all this really will be is an 'adaptation' rather than a completely fresh score. Beyonce is working with Tim Rice and Elton John for the songs as well, so the responsibilities seem to be as split as they were the first time round.<br><br>If nothing, I guess this will all result in an interesting look at how Zimmer would reinterpret an older score of his. Not many composers get that opportunity.Yeah, I think he has to do The Lion King first because they have to incorporate the songs with the score. There was even an article saying that Beyonce was working with Zimmer.DT-2017<br>It depends, because it's a musical, and some tracks have to be prepped prior to filming, so he might do a little bit of each throughout this year I'm guessingDark Phoenix is out later this year, The Lion King won't be out until next year. It's a pretty safe bet he'll score Dark Phoenix first.hank you
Are the war-cry vocals in Red Warrior part of the music or are they added in for the OST?@Hybrid Really? I guess it’s not a total surprise considering how much of a mess the film turned out to be. Divergent was a similar situation where the score in-film was butchered...The funny thing with Dark Tower, is that the production was so lost they made him write the score 3 times... Who knows what were the other versions like...It’s interesting with Junkie. As a composer on a purely scene basis, he’s not that good (this is coming from someone who loves his music). My primary issue with him is that he tends to score scenes with ambience, or stretched out sound design. That was a huge problem I had with Dark Tower.<br><br>But like I said elsewhere, he’s still growing as a composer. Watch something like Black Mass where the music in film complements the scenes amazingly.Hans does not have the credit as a producer on this.<br><br>XL is limited, I agree, but I hope he does something fun (the film is not even taken seriously).
Funnily enough, I'm far more critical of Hans than Junkie, given how much the former relies on ghostwriters, but the fact of the matter is that Hans fundamentally understands how to write a film score, and Junkie, from what I've heard, simply doesn't. Mad Max, although a success, is more a function of the film suiting an extremely rhythmic, percussive sound, rather than Junkie being competent, IMHO. So - somewhat joking here, as I know it won't happen - I'd be down for Hans writing a suite for this and Junkie basically copy/pasting it into the film.Hybrid, do you have credits for this version by any chance?welp, looks like we're back to the whole "tom holkenborg aka junkie XL" thing againPoint Break is fantastic!!!!I like Dark Tower, not a terrific score, but i liked it.<br><br>But Point Break... oh, god
What about the Dark Phoenix score? Did he finish it already or doing it in between the Lion King?Wow, I never realized that the oscorp theme is basically Watergate from Frost/NixonI wish so much more! The movie promises to be as good as the last Jumanji! I'm not a big fan of Point Break or Dark Tower, but I think XL has a lot of stuff to explore this time, like in Mad Max.It does not have to be anything extraordinary, just something that gives life to the film.Yes he has, for a few months now actually...Hybrid, do you know if Hans has started on the new Lion King yet?

Sehr geehrter Herr Zimmer

Pit

Hi Hans! I'm a big fan and also a Film Composer!

Currently I will be doing the music score for this short film, but the filmmakers need help with raising funds, could you help us with our crowdfunding?

It's for a nice cause! This will be my first music score in a film ever! Thank you and god bless you all!

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I am actually very interested into Orchestras and Scores.
I have seen tons of footage and also did some recherche how to arrange and organize an orchestra, when I suddenly stumbled about two and a half questions.

Question one:
why are string and woodwindinsruments the only ones with a static position?

Question two:
on what does it depend, that Xylophones, Drums, Pianos, Harps and sometimes Brassinstruments, vary their position?

Question two and a half:
does this depend on the acustic of a room or is there any certain specialty to define the seating?

If you're really want to know more about score, as odd as it sounds, Facebook is how I learned the basics that really readied me. I'm a part of several groups on FB and they're all very welcoming! Feel free to find me on FB!

When artists like Hans Zimmer have their staff include the disclaimer: "Please don't ask us how to contact them ( i.e: Hans or the other Remote Control composers ) either" on their Contact page -it's clear that thes artists have lost touch and respect for the people who have put them where they are today. Why even HAVE a Contact page on your website if you don't WANT fan contact? Oh wait, I get it -we're only supposed to use this Contact page to lavish praise upon Hans and his fellow ( Remote Control ) Music God composers. What was I thinking? These Music Gods wouldn't actually want to "rub elbows" with the "little people" who purchase their music ( -which allows them to make very comfortable livings for themselves ). I actually feel sad for these out of touch "stuffed-shirts".

Who shat in your cornflakes this morning?

Jana2017-02-12 19:11:58
Well said Tom, and what shall I say, you hear it in the newly compositions. Not the theme but the production outcome is bad. Hollywood is taken over, so sad ...

Andrew2017-03-02 01:27:25
Maybe it's because they were getting too many, "Hey, Hans, listen to what I wrote" kind of submissions mixed with just regular abuse of the contact page. I'm a composer and understand not wanting to allow free contact, you have only so many hours to write something incredible. On top of that, 'Hollywood' is a very friendly world of professionals who are willing to teach when the opportunity arises. Hans is doing a master class, yes he probably gets paid nicely, BUT WHAT COPOSTITION TEACHER DOESN'T? Especially world renowned. Lastly, Hans doesn't make the bulk of his money from selling OST's, he get's it from working on big budget projects. Hans is very much on board with being in contact with the public but has to have some safeguards for himself in terms of contact. Do something amazing and maybe he'll decide to "rub elbows" with you.

What is Captain Barbossas theme in Pirates of the Caribbean?

Edmund Meinerts2017-02-04 22:11:04
I don't think he ever got a specific theme - the ominous rising theme from "Fog Bound" and "Underwater March" is sort of used for Barbosa and the undead pirates, but not really enough for you to make that connection. The first Pirates score was never all that careful about what themes it used where and for whom - that sort of leitmotif approach didn't really happen until the second and especially third ones (and then was totally messed up again in the fourth, where IIRC they use a motif associated with Cutler Beckett/the EITC for "privateer Barbosa" for some bizarre reason).

Dear Hans Zimmer Team:

Hello. I am a huge and serious fan of Hans Zimmer music. I am also a big fan of John Powell, the composer of scores of <The Bourne Supremacy>.

I am eager to get a "film version" of <Bim Bam Smash> the studio version of which I have. (You know, just like <Training Montage> from <Rocky 4> comes in a film version and a studio version.)

The film version of <Bim Bam Smash> is a little longer and more heart-pounding than the studio version. I could not find any tip on how to get that version after searching the whole Internet for days. I thought about extracting the score from the movie file (mp4), but the other background sound is too loud.

Any tip would be appreciated.

Dear Hans, I'm faszinated about the soundtrack from Interstellar. I'ld like to know if there is an interesting reason for using an organ as highlight in it. I think no one has used it before in a soundtrack.
Thank you for answering!

Dear Mr. Zimmer

Currently I’m studying 3D animation. For my degree dissertation i have to do a small 3D animated
movie. your soundtrack from the gladiator „honor him & now we are free“ would be just perfect.
I hardly can immagine another soundtrack.

Therefore I allow myself to kindly ask you if it would be possible to use them and what
would be the cost of it. there would be no commercial use! only the presentation of the film
at the school (EB, Zürich, Switzerland) which is published on youtube as well as on my homepage.

Thank you for your kindly answer as soon as possible as my project has to be ready in
April 2017 and I should start to work on it by mid of November 2016.

Fabian Käser, Switzerland

Hey Hybrid,
Just FYI the new Titanfall 2 video game score is composed by Stephen Barton, former HGW assistant. Not sure if he is still associated with RC as I have not seen the score's in-depth credits but I thought it might want to be listed on his credits page here :)

Morgan Joylighter2016-10-30 13:40:58
Listening to Titanfall 2 it definitely sounds like he took a lot of experience from HGW's mid-late 2000s sound :)

Hallo, Herr Zimmer,

Monika Zimmer
