Yes, I was referring to A Celebration. "It's out there" as in "it can be obtained unofficially". Were you referring to the Sia track? Dark Phoneix is more playable than Dunkirk, more thematic in my opinion, and don't agree with that opinions saying are the same, specially when Dark Phoenix has more in common with the early 2010s and some of the 90s score by Zimmer.I don't find the similarities between Playful Secrets and Home Alone, mostly the track (and the most part of the score) reminds more to Danny Elfman than John Williams, even Goldsmith, which his synthesizers sounds, are pretty unique, much more than Jablonsky in this score, but i give that sounds like a 80s synthesizer.Please Inception be next!!<br>There are tons of music in the film that didn't make it to the soundtrack.That's great. I love revisiting this score. It's just so much fun, and I love hearing this side of Steve's music. I remember watching interviews where he'd talk about programming John Williams' string patterns into midi instruments, and his love for Williams' work overall. This side of him is rarely shown in his projects.

But then you have scores like this that show off how much of a wizard he can be with music. Melodic action music, fun and creative use of synth, classic Jablonsky choir chants, and beautiful use of the orchestra. Perfect for a fantasy comedy with a modern twist.

I cannot stress enough how much I love tracks like "Isabel the Strong", "Labyrinths And Humps", and "Mean Knights and Horsies O' My!". "Playful Secrets" in particular shows just how much of an expert Steve is with an orchestra. It sounds straight out of a John Williams score like Harry Potter or Indiana Jones with a fun Danny Elfman choir on top. Not to mention the beautifully performed bassoon and French Horn combo at 0:39 and 0:44!

These are the kinds of projects I like to see from Jablonsky. Films and games that allow him to show off his skills and test his abilities to the point where he creates complex, unique, varied, thematically rich, and truly poignant music.

This is something that I can point to and say "that's 100% a Steve Jablonsky score". It has some influence from Zimmer, but is not copying him by any means. Maybe with the slight exception of "Thadeous".

MrZimmerFan2020-09-22 12:37:42
Agree, solid work, but dosen't sound like John Williams, more like Danny Elfman.

Also, the main theme sounds like Pirates of the Caribbean

superultramegaa2020-09-22 18:07:48
I hear Harry Potter in tracks like "Playful Secrets" and "Labyrinths & Humps".

Yes i realize Elfman has had similar sounds to those tracks too, but i think Steve is at the very least trying to homage Harry Potter in a few sections.

And personally I think the main theme is the most Pirates-like, but that's why i said there's still Zimmer influence, (yes i know a few tracks sound like King Arthur too), but it's not overwhelming for the most part.

Edmund Meinerts2020-09-24 00:19:23
More than anything else "Playful Secrets" sounds like it's straight out of Home Alone. Definitely Williams more than Elfman for me.

This score is one of my favorites from Jablonsky. The retro synths are almost Goldsmith-like in places which is awesome to hear. And it's one of the very few post-Steamboy scores of his that brings back some of that Steamboy adventurous spirit. Would be great to hear him do this sort of thing again one day.

Moggyman2020-09-24 01:14:39
I'm gonna have to agree with MrZimmerFan that it sounds more like Danny Elfman style, especially because of the choir.

MrZimmerFan2020-09-24 12:05:45

Fair enough, but I know for a fact that Steve was inspired by Harry Potter because of the complete score track "Tavern Fighting (Part 1)". The end of that track has a direct reference to The Chamber of Secrets theme from the second film.

MrZimmerFan2020-09-24 17:57:31
Never listen the complete score, so i can't comment about that

Nice catch. Those are very similar.

Btw, I have some "expanded" version of the score, which seems to be identical to the complete score on this site, aside from the fact that it's missing the last 4 tracks. Do those have equivalents in the regular release?

Isabel Suite = Isabel the Strong
Thadeous Suite = Thadeous
The Quest Suite = Let Us Quest!

End credits is probably ripped from the film.

Man, the all synth version of the themes for the end credits of this film is fantastic. Almost wish they would have used those instead. Wish they would have included an end credits suite with those versions on the album.

I'm having problems with the Your Highness complete score. In track 7 "Angry Boremont", it was corrupted. Either it's from the burned CD or otherwise, I think. If anyone has the original source, please let me know.

Wow the Complete Score is 1hours and 13 minutes long.

13 minutes is a joke!!! buy the score release and not the illegal download bullshit!

@ /&/

Quit being such a hater. Just because the additional 13 minutes wasn't in the official soundtrack doesn't mean you'll have to whine and complaint about it. And besides, the additional 13 minutes isn't a joke... it is 100% real and legit.

I never joke around /&/. Sometimes (if not all), the official soundtrack doesn't have a lot of film scores. Case in point-- Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen.

T-Mann036

We are talking about your Highness and not have transformers - revenge of the fallen. Your problem is with nothing to harmony that it since! Perhaps Transformers 3 score is longer? Can do what no one if RC is too lazy to publish longer score.

You make very good music, but are not the only who make good music.

John Debney, Trevor Rabin, Brian Tyler, or bear McCreary would be the best alternative.

/&/ reply Replies: 0 || 2011-04-17 00:00:00
Have you ever thought? If ever illegal gedownload is that at some point ever no CD publications appear more?

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-04-17 00:00:00
@ /&/

I don't think illegal downloads will be the end of physical CD releases. You would think that 8 tracks, cassettes, and MP3s would have ended vinyl, but it's still kickin'. And T-Mann036 is right, just because there's an additional 13 minutes is nothing to cry about. The film itself is an hour and 42 min, so that's a difference of about a half hour. There is not music in every single scene. That would mean that there's music continuously from when the Universal logo comes up to the time the end credits finish playing. Stop your complaining.

/&/ reply Replies: 0 || 2011-04-17 00:00:00
It is me personally to buy prefer official publications. When illegal uploads to download and I think it also not very much. But there was once a time as it was to film remember to continue to publish. Thinking of times about it!
It will come out every year to enough music from Zimmer and co. Because, similar to many things that were for the other score not on it.

T-Mann036 reply Replies: 0 || 2011-04-17 00:00:00
While I was listening to the complete film score, it appears to me that track 7 (Angry Boremont) was interrupted. If anyone has the full track, please let me know.

Well, the tracklist of the 'complete' shown below leaves out the 3 theme suites, so it has closer to 25 min more than the official, not just 13 min... not that it's very important though, just thought I would mention it.

I didn't realize you have it. I just got it, I'll let you know what I think. I'm baffled that there's a complete score for a film that has only been out for a week, especially by Steve. He's my favorite right below Hans.

At first, I had doubts that it was fake. But after listening to the complete film score, I was epically blown away. Although I haven't seen the picture at a theater, Steve have done an outstanding job composing as well as the conducting of Nick "The Rock" Glennie-Smith.

@MK

I've been listening to the score, and I wouldn't say that there is a "heavy" Transformers influence, any more than usual in Jablonsky's works. That said, some parts are heavily influenced by Pirates of the Caribbean (Thadeous' theme in particular), but I can live with it.
