I wonder why they opted to drop the musical style of 1 and 2 in the 3 and 4, despite all the buzz the scores, particularly the first one, generated.
Mmmmh let me think... Lorne was gone ? :)
Because the Transformers scores are basically greatest-hits compilation of whatever other Hans/RC scores came out in the few years previous to it. The first one is basically Batman Begins with a few King Arthur-type anthems attached to it; the second one takes that template and throws in some choral stuff from Da Vinci Code/Angels & Demons. The third one switches from Batman Begins to The Dark Knight and, even moreso, Inception (and, y'know, Mind Heist) as its primary influence, which means out with the heroic anthems and in with the low brass blasts and overprocessed synth-demo sound. The fourth one is in the same mold, just adding a bit of Man of Steel percussion and some electronics from the Tron Legacy/Oblivion playbook.
Like I said, each Transformers score is basically just a time capsule for whatever Hans was doing in the 2-3 years prior to it. So I guess Transformers 5 will have church organs? :p
+1 Edmund, perfectly summarized! I think the reason behind that might be that Michael Bay is a big fan of Zimmer, and loves whatever new music he releases. Then he just asks Jablonsky to incorporate that into his Transformers soundtracks.
Hybrid, if you know any information at all regarding the score for Age of Extinction, can you please give us an update? It's less than a week away abd there's no info at all, not even a VA album. Please, thank you.
Im surprised....oh no wait a minute I'm NOT surprised this score isn't getting any press yet...
Same thing happened in 2011.
It is strange there isn't a VA album
For DotM, the VA album came out June 14th... the movie came out June 29th... 2 and a half weeks before the movie came out
still waiting ... no answers. Out of respect for us, you should answer us if will be released or not, and when, because if we are waiting is because we are fans of this music
I stopped looking. If there is a release or announcement this Tuesday or Thursday, but I don't have high hopes for a release before the film's premiere. In the US anyway, it gets where I live in July 10 so.
Just wish it did come out sooner, the wait for the film would be more bearable.
Adrian, if Hybrid knew, he would tell you. Right now, he doesn't have any more info than we do.
Steve Jablonsky himself doesn't seem enclined to give any information on his facebook... several people asked when/whether there would be a score release, but still unanswered.
you guys seem just as desperate as that Poe fella :P
I just went onto soundtrack.net. They say the release date for the soundtrack is 27th June.
But that is for the SOUNDTRACK, I don't know if that means the SCORE but we'll soon find out...
Steve refered to it as soundtrack too in his Facebook page so, that might be it too. I say: keep an eye out on iTunes and official retailers this thursday and friday.
@Paul, it says on http: //www.soundtrack.net/movie/transformers-4/ under "Movie Information" Releasing On: June 27, 2014
The same video/song was posted back in january be some guy on youtube labeled "Rise of a Prime"
False alarm :/
No way, it's cheap as hell...
yeah.. it's some cheesy version of the allspark
Not so bad for an alternate reprise of "Bumblebbe/All spark" themes.
From Steve's FB page:
"It was recommended to me that I start an official Facebook page (since there are other Steve Jablonsky pages that claim to be official), so here it is. Over there we will keep you up to date on things like the Transformers soundtrack, which just a few of you have asked me about I'm very sorry for the lack of information, but rest assured it is in progress and we will have details for you soon. I would tell you now but I'm not quite sure myself. I do know that the music is done! Also I recently joined Twitter. I really like to stay on top of the latest social media trends If anyone is interested you'll find me at @jablonsky_steve Have a great week everyone! If you see Age of Extinction I really hope you enjoy it. We will try to make the soundtrack available as soon as possible. Look on the official page for updates. Thank you for all of the amazing messages! I really appreciate them. Steve"
And the actual, official page: https ://www.facebook.com/SteveJablonsky Official
Things are going slowly, but they're going.
Well I guess I can make a page now, but they better deliver or I'll shoot them... :P
This site: http: //www.soundtrack.net/mo vie/transformers-4/
has credits for additional music
Trapanese on twitter confirmed he does additional music but has no idea about a release
New imagine dragons song :O?
Trapanese did additional yes, Dave Fleming too, some unknown guy (to me) Michael Yezerski did too... :P
Trapanese? Intriguing. How did that come about?
Seriously, this is driving me crazy. This is one the most anticipated scores of the summer, and yet there's no information about a release?
In 2011, the TF3 score was released on iTunes on the Wednesday before the movie's US opening. And I remember getting a tracklist from filmmusicreporter a few days earlier, so I'm getting a bit nervous... I really want to hear what Jablonsky did here.
You're not alone Ds.
Ds, the score for TF3 came out the day the movie did.
I remember the perfectly well. I went to lunch, came back and checked iTunes and boom it was on there
eaglesfan005: I live in Europe, the movie was out that Wednesday and I remember waking up that morning and downloading it immediately!
Ds, well that makes sense then because it popped up on itunes here in the US the day of the US release
We need to know something about Transformers AOE score release. Maybe a date release only? Please
I am now pretty worried about the release. Either it's really, really, REALLY secret, or it's Transformers 1 all over again.
We are basically 2 weeks away, in the US anyway, and not even a cover or song soundtrack dated. I am really worried.
Actually this reminds me of the TF 3 score in '11....The drama...The questions...the hype...the long wait....
It'll be here. Just be patient.
I'm worried too...
I'm not worried, just terribly impatient. I guess it'll be available on the day of release :-)
These days, there is virtually no such thing as "unreleased soundtrack" (unless you're Mark Mothersbaugh, it seems). They'll release it, it's just a matter of "when".
DOTM Score was never physically released and to this day, no true complete score for TF1 is available.
BTW, Hybrid, the tracks you've given here (except Our Final Hope Suite) are from the bootleg Expanded Score.
They say that the DOTM score is in CD form in the Transformers Ride Souvenirs Store. I'm in a whole 'nother country so I can't confirm. As for the TF1 complete one, the tracks that we don't have in leaks were done in post-production and not during the score sessions, so they were not there.
I remember with the DOTM score, it went out like 2 or 3 days before the premiere. I remember seeing all the drama when I had to leave the internet to buy the tickets for the film, lol. Good times. I remember it went out first in an Australian score store.
I do hope it doesn't take long. I even made a custom Score cover when I found a cool chinese poster of the film. Wonder if I can upload it and send the link here or something.
it is strange there hasn't even been any word on the VA soundtrack... all we have is Imagine Dragons' "Battle Cry"
Is that true ? because it sound really like Steve Jablonsky's work..
Come on! The movie is releasing in 10 days and still not even a peek. Release it already.
eded, I vote fake. The drums doesn't Jablonsky-ish or something.
Hey guys, I made this fan-made cover for the Score, when it comes out, you can place it as the iTunes cover or something, maybe even print it and place it on the case . It may look official, but I made it with the official chinese poster that came out.
On March 22nd, Steve Jablonsky posted a picture of himself, Moody Good and Skrillex in his studio: "Crazy kids and their electronic music. These are two of the best. Thanks Skrillex and Moody Good for hanging at my studio and making killer sounds."
Could they be working together on TF4?
thats exactly what i was thinking!!!
Skrillex really is in the post-production, but in sound design. He's making sounds for the Dinobots, especially Grimlock.
So apparently Zimmer has a hand in this. Imagine Dragons is doing the main song for the film called "Battle cry" and Zimmer was apart of this process. Don't know if he had a hand in any of the score itself but still cool.
Sorry relised I didn't specify that it was for T4.
Nice to hear from you. As you probably know the score is now up on iTunes. The physical CD situation has been more complicated. I finished the album weeks ago, but we didn't actually finalize it until a few days ago. Michael Bay is really happy with the score and he wanted to check out the album before it went out. As you might imagine, he's a busy dude. He's been flying all over the world promoting TF3, making it difficult to get approval. But I was happy that he wanted to be a part of the soundtrack and I did not want to release anything before he had his say. The record company tells me they need 4-6 weeks to get the album produced and into stores, which would put us into August at this point. A lot of discussion went into this, but the decision was made to wait on the physical CD, and release some kind of special edition alongside the blu-ray release (maybe autographed copies or other goodies, we don't know yet).
I know people are probably disappointed. Believe me I wish I could get physical CD's out there tomorrow. But it's just the way things went this time around. I can see why Paramount would rather not release a score CD almost 2 months after the movie release. To them it makes more sense to do something special around the blu-ray/DVD. I understand that.
So anyone interested in a CD should rest assured that it WILL happen. It just won't happen until later in the year unfortunately.
These big movies are so complex sometimes!! I hope you've been well!
So where is the damn CD?!
You can't even download and purchase a digital copy anymore. I beginning to doubt a CD...
The Battleship page isn't up yet so i'll start this conversation here. Anyone think the music from the Battleship official site is part of Jablonskys score?
havent heard it yet but this sounds promising!!!!! :D
If you haven't heard it yet, then what exactly sounds promising? The fact that Jablonsky is composing the score for Battlefield is enough to sound promising?
I don't think the music of the site is from Jablonsky...
*Battleship. I was clearly not thinking when I was typing that. Or maybe my mind was trying to shut out the fact that they are making a movie out of a board game. What will be next? Candyland: directed by Tim Burton, scored by Danny Elfman?
lol Candyland is happening! Adam Sandler is attached. So if thats the case then it would be Rupert Gregson-Williams.
Battleship was supposed to happen several years ago. Gore Verbinski (all 3 PotC) was suppsed to direct. Or maybe he was supposed to do Ouiji. Yes, that's suppsed to be a movie too.
Doesn't sound like Jablonsky. Knowing his style, I say he's gonna ocmpose something of a mix between Transformers and Gears Of War.
"Battleship" score soundtrack is 76 min long!!! (according to filmmusicreporter).
It'll feature a track composed by Rage Against The Machine's guitarist, maybe this is the music of the official website.
Do you think we got a digital release next week? The film opens in Europe on april 11th.
Score will be released on 05/08/12
The physical disc? Sweet Jesus, where did you hear that?!?!
