What is the name of the song playing when Maggie leaves it’s beautiful and haunting. The music from this movie is sheer genius a mix of heavy metal, jazz, and rock and roll! Awesome...!Yes! Looks like Zimmer's abandoned Z+. It only worked on one iOS system, then because it wasn't recompiled for the next system wouldn't decode the music you paid for. Locking your purchases into an app was a VERY BAD idea. Now there's nothing out there that's as good at providing a great surround sound experience for headphones. So Lorne's mp3 uploads. Would anyone class that as an 'official' release of the music from the movie?Currently watching this movie the first time ^^ ... and then... suddenly a music motive spontaneously pops up. Sound exactly like a little part from Armageddon "Secondary Protocol" - really cool :) love the music in this movie. Very intense.I don't mean to pile on but do you really think that Hans touring is the only obstacle to a CD release of a completely forgotten 12-year-old film and score by a different composer? And why would Hans' tours be responsible for the fact that many albums these days don't get a physical release? While at the same time those tours even got an LP release... lol
You are aware that there's a pandemic going on right now, right?I'm pretty sure that neither did he.I know Geoff does fantasy films and he is good at that, but I didn't want this.Lovely score by Atli, but also a bit typical for this kind of movie. This suite is all you need from this score. The songs are really great. Especially Double Trouble, Husavik and Running With The Wolves (i wish this song would be longer). Very nice movie and with a great soundtrack. Please tell me. When time come to Moscow.
Wtf is up with that Time remix with Alan Walker?@ Michael Hayko<br>cause yeah, there really is a market for a physical CD of a mediocre score of a film that everybody has forgotten even exists........said no one everOkay Zimmer it's time to get back to producing physical CDs and put your live performances on hold. You can start by producing 'Deception' it's such an amazing score! Okay you've had your fun pretending to be a rockstar now let's get back to the business of film music please!Top news :<br><br> nd-dune-lion-king-ascap-awards-1234646855/

Hybrid is there a way to check/read how much an album has sold, is there a site? Whether it digital or cd, im always curious to read how much an soundtrack album has sold

Hybrid Soldier2012-07-28 09:47:54
I don't know if there is, but TDKR OST is a hit. :)

ananymous2012-07-28 09:59:58
Aha, you do not know any reliable source. But it is a hit. Somewhat illogical.

Hybrid Soldier2012-07-28 11:15:33
I read an article 3 days ago about TDKR OST selling really.

I don't know any site to find exact figures or charts, though.

Why don't you leave this place ? You clearly has an issue, and we're not here to be your shrink.

ananymous2012-07-28 13:53:44
I have no issues. I only like facts.

I've spent an hour trying to figure out which of these tracks is the cue from Trailer #4 (the one that starts with a shot of the Wayne Enterprises building) only to read that it is not amongst the currently available tracks.

Can anyone confirm that the cue from Trailer 4 is not currently available? That will put my mind at ease.

therealmorse2012-07-22 01:33:26
yes...I can confirm that. Its also none of the bonus tracks, sad to say. The only time the tune pops up is actually very quietly at the end of the "Bombers of Ibiza" (Junkie XL Remix)...about the last 30 seconds...its very quietly heard

headphoneboy2012-07-22 03:48:37
thanks for clarifying morse. that's my favorite piece of music i've heard related to the film so far, so it's a shame it's not included in the score materials that have been released so far. hopefully a future deluxe edition will include it in some form, but then again who knows...

therealmorse2012-07-23 15:29:20
I agree, its one of my favorites as well...have to admit though, Mr. Zimmer gave us a TON of material though for this release. I hope there is a Trilogy Collection that is released that offers some unreleased material from all the 3 movies. Here's hoping!

therealmorse2012-07-24 17:20:48
I appreciate the effort, but while it starts out as the correct track, recorded and edited from the 4th trailer, but whoever did the mix assumed it was part of "Gotham's Reckoning", which it is not. There are enough clips of it through various trailers that if I wanted to edit a cut of it, I could, but I think I will just wait for a release of it through some medium because dispute the clips that were released for this album, the official cuts blow the clips away and its just better to listen to the correct studio versions. It is a great track though and I can't wait for it to be released. Here's hoping!

headphoneboy2012-07-26 22:42:14
after seeing the film a second time, I am fairly positive that the music used in trailer 4 doesn't appear in the film.

i also noticed that a longer version of this cue can be found in the closing minutes of the 13+ min Dark Knight Rises Featurette that can easily be found all over youtube. Clearly this was once part of a longer cue that has yet to surface.

Magnus Rex2012-07-27 06:58:24
OK, I have to say this to everyone. Because I cannot understand the reactions here.

FACT: Trailer music is hardly ever taken from the score of which was composed for the same film.

Trailer music is one of three things (in no particular order):

1) Original
2) Library/production music
3) A song/cue from another film

With literally thousands of other trailers with original music, no one ever bats (no pun intended) an eyelid about it. But with this film, people are FREAKING OUT about the lack of trailer music on the soundtrack album, as if its exclusion from the CD is some kind of terrible mishap on behalf of Watertower Music.

It was composed for the trailer, simple as that. Why are people so mystified/annoyed/dismayed about its lack of existence on CD? Trailer music hardly ever sees the light of day to the public. A rare case was John Beal's "Coming Soon" album from 1998, which collected a lot of his original trailer music from the 80s and 90s.

I mean, relax! Its not likely to surface any time soon in a decent form and my educated guess is that it was never intended to be on the soundtrack CD at any time.

Mr. Charles2012-07-27 09:49:46

Every single one of TRON: Legacy's trailers featured music from Daft Punk's original score for the film

The trailer for The Dark Knight used music from the film and Batman Begins, as well.

Hanna even featured The Chemical Brothers' "Sandman Theme" at the end of its trailer, which is featured in several spots throughout the film.

Check your facts, Magnus Rex.

Mr. Charles

Hybrid Soldier2012-07-27 12:04:17
The very first Comic Con Tron Legacy trailer was written by Clay Duncan for the trailer...

Mr. Charles2012-07-27 19:59:36
I know that, Hybrid. I mean theatrical trailers released by the MPAA :)

It's on Clay's website and it's titled "Who am I AKA TRON". I have it, its a pretty good piece.

Trailer 1 which was released in front of Alice In Wonderland features "The Game Has Changed".

Trailer 2 features "Father & Son Prelude", "Outlands, pt. I" & "Fall"

Trailer 3 features "Fireworks" (as it's known on the Blu-ray rip since the official version isn't available to the public) and "C.L.U"

Magnus Rex2012-07-27 20:08:41

"I have listed TRON: Legacy and Hanna as 2 of just many films where part of the film'score are used in it's trailers"

Many films but the majority of films use other non-original music.

Feedthemachine2012-07-28 07:17:30
You do realize that there are ENTIRE companies that devote themselves to composing trailer music, right (Immediate Music comes to mind)? If a film doesn't use their music, chances are the composer composed music specifically for the trailer (Howard Shore - Return of the King).

It doesnt. It should if happened at the climatic part near the end, right before the montage, but nolan decided to do a more 'traditional' approach similar to TDK instead. shame, really it WOULD HAVE FIT PERFECTLY!!!

I have a question for you my dear Hybrid Soldier.

I have watched The Dark Knight Rises already. Great movie. As good as BB and TDK.
Did Hans Zimmer ever mention to you that this movie is longer than the current 2h45?

it's pretty clear for me that Chris Nolan did choose the best (from what he shot) to get the greatest, coherent story he can in 2h45 (Imax limitation).

I never had that (great) feeling in Nolan's movie. But, in TDKR there is space everywhere to improve the whole story (deeper characters etc). It's not a critic. The story is so good.

If any of the movie, Nolan has/had made in his entire fimography did not require an extended version, TDKR truly does and more DESERVES.

(but I guess you don't know anything about that and if you do know, you can't talk about it yet).

Drunkenmunkey2012-07-26 04:43:26
Hey hybrid, another question, when will hans officialy release the cue for the mtv/nokia trailer music? Perhaps in the extended release?

The Finale music could of been more emotional, given the circumstances. A bit of disappointment in you, zimmer

Mr. Grey2012-07-21 17:30:01

Yeah it didn't really improve the scene a lot, the dark knight rises ending was the best!!!

Mr. Grey2012-07-21 17:30:24
The dark knight ending was the best, NOT rises

Justin2012-07-22 02:35:12
There is a track off the below-mentioned Itunes app suites that could have perfectly served as THE final Batman theme evolution - I'm thinking presumably when he whisks the bomb away is the scene this piece of music would have fit perfectly in.

Strangely it wasn't used...And now that I pair it in my head, it would have sounded even better than the rehash of the Arkham Escape cue they used....Why Zimmer chose not to include it in the entire movie I have no idea. Oh well. I guess you can't have everything.

Bateman2012-07-26 02:23:08
nolans decision, not zimmers. just like when like a dog chasing cars was suppose to be used in the freeway chase in TDK. The jokers 'slaughter' truck trying to abduct dent. "No there's a batman"

Mr. Fate2012-07-19 13:23:36
Like a lot of other games and programs for computers, apps contain quite a bit of files and data. Somewhere in the data for this TDKR app should be four audio files that will most likely be WAVs or maybe mp3s (at least, it was about that simple for the Inception Dream App). It's just that you'll have to buy the app to be able to download it and look through its files. You don't have to have an Apple device to access this music.

Alternatively, you can just wait for someone who does have the software and hardware and money and skills to extract the music and upload it somewhere (since we are living in the times of piracy right now).

Pierre2012-07-19 15:09:31

Most of the action music was variations of Gotham's Reckoning. One part that wasn't released was an epic all-string version of Bane's theme after he had taken of Gotham.

Zimmer's most recent good scores IMO if complete: (Not counting PG movies or lower, not counting anything before 2005)

Dead Man's Chest
At World's End
Batman Begins
Dark Knight
Da Vinci Code
Angels & Demons
Sherlock Holmes
A Game Of Shadows (Complete and on the proper pitch, yes)

I tell by DVD rips, complete ways and what not.

Dark Knight Rises is ok, but a blend of everything we've heard. It does better if you say its more so a 'continuation' of BB & TDK. BB and TDK were actually quite different in terms of sound, as were the films. Zimmer doesn't live up to the hype this time. :/ Perhaps if he released complete things, but for the moment... the album edits suck. Not the music, but the way it's produced. I feel everyone would enjoy his scores more if they were produced more properly and not like a kid did it. What college did they go to to produce such terrible representations of albums? Like seriously? FULL SCORES> PEOPLE WILL BUY THEM AND ENJOY THEM!!! Ill even help pay to produce them if money is the question. How much, tell me. Ill help you out, hans!

It's implied John Blake will become Robin at the end of the movie. That's all I know. I don't remember where I read this but dear mother of god. All the reviews say the last 30 minutes of the film will be crazy good. Anyone think Rises can get oscar for best picture?

Smitty reply Replies: 4 || 2012-07-17 11:04:25
dear hans, i am a big fan of your music, i really loving your work and hearing it every day. i'm not hearing anymore music from the radio, those damn pop songs etc, but only scores and especially your work, like the thin red line, last samurai etc.

I've heard so many times batman begins and the dark knight. especially batman begins was a masterpiece. the parts from james were absolutely beautiful, but also your action cues were majestic, like molossus etc. tdk was a little bit a disappointement, as james haven't work THAT much anymore on there, and i don't know what it was, but tdk doesn't sound THAT beautiful like begins.

then it was time for tdkr, i eagerly awaited this score, you've promoted it as the most epic batman score you've done, you've created something BRAND new. i always read from interviews how epic it is going to be, it will be so much greater then begins and tdk etc. i really had my hopes high and i expected something epic, like you've said! and the movie is going to be the final one, the end. so i thought you really were going to put all your energy and bring us something that will knock us from our chairs. you see, that i had high expectations ^^

now i've heard your tdkr score, not only one time, not only twice, i heard it very very often, to give the score the chance to grow. but seriously, and i'm sorry to say, it is a HUGE HUGE HUGE DISSAPPOINTMENT.
where are the new things you've created, where are the themes, where is the epicness you've promised?
what i'm hearing in the score are only reprises from batman begins and tdk, and also some mixes of both movies. those "new" melodies and parts of the score, which are only a few, are also some reprises from transformers, pirates and sherlock holmes. i don't know what happened here...
was it too much from me for hoping to hear something more and some more cues that are sounding a bit more new than just remixes of begins and tdk? and hearing over and over so many parts from transformers and all those other past scores?

i don't want to blame you, i really love your work, you're truely gifted with talent of creating so beautiful music, and you've showed us so many times, what masterpieces you can bring, but tdkr is a huge dissappointment and i just can't understand anymore your words of those interviews as i'm missing them on your score. i'm sorry for those words, but i just had to say it.

i only can wish, that you'll get back at your style from the 90s and early 2000s times, with music like the thin red line, last samurai, pearl harbour, lion king, as all your current works aren't that great anymore. maybe you just need a break, to collect ideas, to get fresh again...?

thank you again for all of your past works and hope to see you soon again with some beautiful scores :)

Feedthemachine2012-07-17 14:07:27
TDKR may not have been his best score, but it definitely wasn't just recycled material; there were plenty of new themes.

D A R T H2012-07-17 18:50:25
Like pirate of the caribean 4. Maybe the Album in worser than the complete score... my note :

potc4 :album 2/5 / complete score : 3,5/5

this score is better with all bonus tracks

Without 2/5, with 3/5, complete score ?/5

Smitty2012-07-17 19:03:14
problem is that those new themes are also some recycled materials from other movies. like i said, transformers, pirates and so on. totally uninspired, no ideas and no structure at all in this.

and it breaks my heart while saying this, as i'm a huge huge huge hans zimmer fan and loved the batman music from begins so much and also tdk. but tdkr is really sadly a dissappointement.

there is still hope that with a recording session and those app-cues the overall of the music will get better and i can change my mind to this :)

Hans authorized me to tell a bit more !

So, next step is the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch App called "The Dark Knight Rises Z+" !

I won't say much about it, it's something the Inception App. Should be very interesting.

What kept my interest is the following statement :

"Additional Z+ content will be available as an in-app purchase, including a special “Origins” pack that features an extra 55 minutes of music. “Origins” comprises four original suites (“Wayne Manor”, “Bane”, “Selina Kyle”, and “Orphan”), representing the musical DNA for The Dark Knight Rises. Zimmer wrote these pieces while the film was in the early stages of development, and they served as the blueprints for what would become the final soundtrack."

Andres Irias2012-07-17 09:07:30
Hi Hybrid, I have questions about that.. well obviously the score is out, and every single track is in the track list above... My questions are... when can we see this app probably coming out? and also, to get the origins special pack we have to buy that pack or we have to buy the app? could you answer that? I mean just to make it a bit clearer... But I'm really looking forward for this! sounds pretty cool!

Hybrid Soldier2012-07-17 09:12:13
Should be a matter of days.

The App is free (like Inception). This "Suites pack" content is not, though.

But the App is the only way to get those suites.

That's what I meant the other day when HZ said there would be a "lot of crying" ! xD

Andres Irias2012-07-17 09:13:51
Oh and btw Hybrid, is there anyway I could email you or something if you could say something from me to mr. zimmer... If you can email me so I can tell you by email then my email is I just would like the opportunity if you would be able to

Andres Irias2012-07-17 09:15:46
Oh great then thats fair and its cool because we get a free app but then just pay 55 minutes of new soundtrack, perfect! THANKS hybrid!

Feedthemachine2012-07-17 14:09:07

Anonymous2012-07-17 16:50:38
It's no problem. Apps can be extracted and ripped easily. Only downside is that the music will be 128kpbs at best to keep the app size within limits

cheesy2012-07-17 18:29:32
I'm sure someone will rip them and put them out there in no time. I'd love to buy and pay legitimately, but that's the way it goes with these exclusives...

Worst-case scenario I know a few people that have iPhones/iPods. At least this content is getting released at all.

Smitty2012-07-17 18:47:53
jup, not angry at all with those ipad blabla releases. at least we're getting it, because someone will be ripping it. only what matters is, WHEN will they release it. and i hope those cues will be better then those on the score itself ^^

there's definitely no real suite like "Like a dog chasing Cars" here, other than "Why do we fall?" which ends prematurely.

Hybrid Soldier2012-07-10 16:25:55
As I said earlier, the CD is focused on the score as arranged in film. Something HZ does quite rarely actually. For the Suites, wait & see ! ;)

Warwick2012-07-10 17:09:58
Hey Hybrid, do you know why Hans focused this time on providing actual score on the CD instead of suites? Is it because fans are asking for it and most reviews mention it?

Cause in that case we have to remain vocal for his next movies.

Really love the score and representation so far. It's been a loooooong time since I was satisfied with a commercial Zimmer album.

Hybrid Soldier2012-07-10 17:28:44
Simply cause he'll release them... :)

You know, when it's about Theme Suites with Hans, we are dealing with 5 to 20 min tracks.

The Dark Knight had a bit more than 45 min of theme suites. For TDKR, it's around 50/55 min of suites.

Ikaros2012-07-10 17:31:33

Pierre2012-07-10 17:40:19
So there will be a whole seperate album of suite? Cool!

Or perhaps a Special Edition collectors edition with the scores for BB, TDK, and TDKR, with a bonus disc of suites from TDKR?

Hybrid Soldier2012-07-10 17:48:53
You'll see ! You'll seeeee !!

Hybrid, please tell us what's coming!! :D

Warwick2012-07-10 18:24:37
Lol I don't have to know what is coming. I prefer knowing WHEN it's coming :p

Must say some of the songs of the album already sound like suites :)

cheesy2012-07-10 18:33:29

Imagine The Fire, I can say imagine the greatness !!

Intellectuals2012-07-11 16:24:50 watch?v=2Z3jMMXPwqM - someone put up a decent model of the percussion part that they cut out of Gotham's Reckoning in the OST version (film version still has it)

cheesy2012-07-11 17:47:38
They did not cut anything out of Gotham's Reckoning. I'm getting sick of people thinking that the Nokia trailer music was supposed to be a part of the "Gotham's Reckoning" track. This is now and always has been the prologue music.

People seem to disregard Bane's theme as actually being Bane's theme, and rather just music from the trailer. It's going to recur and it's going to be in different forms.

Oh, and it takes a special kind of idiot to think that the Nokia/MTV trailer music is supposed to be Batman's theme. Or nickname the cue "The Caped Crusader."

Intellectuals2012-07-11 17:56:30
If you actually read what I said, you would know I never said it had anything to do with the nokia trailer or any other trailer.

It's a percussion sequence at around 4:00 in the prologue -- a part that they edited out of the OST version. (aka it's the drum sequence where Bane takes the blood out of the doctor and then the music pauses)

cheesy2012-07-11 18:44:39
Huh. This is embarrassing. I'm sorry, that was an idiot move on my part.

Zimmeredge reply Replies: 1 || 2012-07-17 13:51:46
I can't believe that they are people around here believing that Hans Zimmer will create a whole new soundtrack. That is not the point. One note can make the difference and that's the point. He slightly changed some cues and it's pretty damn good! And here we have, at least, 6 new cues (2-3 new themes). I think it's pretty enough for &#224; third and last movie.

JNH part was good but all that darkness from previous soundtrack came from Zimmer's work not JNH.

Plus, remember that in the end, it's all down to Nolan's choices. That being said, Nolan described this last movie as a "full circle". The movie who will end the trilogy. So you got to dig in the past to make the bond with the current movie. If you have something to reproach to Zimmer you better reproach it to Nolan because he is the one who take decision and have the last word in working process... And you can't reproach anything to Nolan concerning Batman... IMO

Zimmeredge2012-07-17 13:53:13
Edit: The movie which will end*

tomPoland reply Replies: 3 || 2012-07-17 09:16:12
After so weak score, I'm afraid that Man of Steel would be a disaster...

Shame, Mr Zimmer. You sais that 3rd part will be epic, but that was just words...

Andres Irias2012-07-17 09:20:16
In my opinion it sounds epic to have been done by himself... Now the only issue is that if he would have done the other 2 soundtracks by himself then this would have sounded AWESOME, but james newton howard wasn't unboard on this one so it was a change we could hear from the emotion in music and for hans being on himself than being with james... I do believe man of steel will sound epic because it will be his first take on that franchise and no other muscisian is helping out... Remember that you should not compare the new man of steel theme with the old, because even the film itself just as batman is different from the old classic ones, but do respect your opinion

tomPoland2012-07-17 12:24:10
No other musicians? Check the credits for TDKR - Hans never work alone, unfortunately. Always ~10-15 co-writers/producers/orchestrators involved in composing (or should I say generating?) music.
JNH was fine addition - he brought beauty and 'softness' to Nolans vision. Without him it's not the same. Hans lost his ability to write nice themes. Underscore and mindless use of RCP samples.
I just expected more. Music in TDKR would probably work, but I have a bad feeling that temp-track from previous movies would work also.

Pierre2012-07-17 13:45:36

So, did Hans use the recordings he asked from the world for mixing Bane's Chant, cause it seems that he didn't. The chant stands faded away in the composition. I assume that it was just a marketing thing...

Andres Irias2012-07-15 02:36:08
Don't assume that hans will use bane's chant during the whole 70 minutes of score.. he actually needs to create variations and rhythm for the movie.. this is just half of the music in the movie.. I bet you will be able to hear a heavier chant during the movie and a much longer version... but for the score I didn't expected him to use the chant as the whole score it would have sucked.. He mixed all 3 soundtracks perfectly in this one, which that helps us remember the other 2 films and the journey of bruce wayne... Actually one of Hans best works so far.

Zimmeredge2012-07-15 03:46:20
Well if I compare the other trilogy (POTC).

Batman is way better!

POTC theme < Molossus
The Kraken/Jack Sparrow < Why So Serious/Like A Dog Chasing Cars
I Don't Think Now Is The Best Time/ Drink Up Me Hearties < Rise (or Imagine The Fire)/ Gotham's Recknoning.

Really, The Dark Knight Rises is one of his best soundtrack ever no doubt that. He perfectly combines all of the major cues i(BB + TDK) and creates new ones that are massive!

I wonder if they gonna make a concert premier as they did for TDK or Inception.

Feedthemachine2012-07-15 04:09:12
Sorry, but the Pirates 3 score is way better than the Batman scores standalone (No way Molossus is better than the POTC theme). However, in the movies the Batman scores induced the mood better.

Andres Irias2012-07-15 06:22:36
I admit pirates is a good soundtrack, I like the kraken track but the 3 pirates soundtrack was the best of the four, but I loved molossus but now I only like it, I mean, no stone unturned is the new thing! its perfect to me! but it's always a thing of taste, I in my case hear more batman than pirates but true that the 3rd pirates soundtrack is really good!

Poe2012-07-15 07:16:31
@Mitsos, I too am disappointed by the lack of the deshi basara chant. I was expecting it to be much more prominent in the album :'(

me2012-07-15 07:24:10
The At worlds end score really brought a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy with new themes and tunes that weren't totally rehashed like stranger tides. I like the dark knight rises album, but I think the potential that it could have been better with James newton howard really dims the light on it. It's not bad, but it's not the greatest. If anything, Hans needs a break.

theeaglesfan0052012-07-15 14:37:57

the chant is used frequently...

Shatwell2012-07-17 08:25:38
I agree with much of the above.

At World's End gave us a satisfying theme for WIll and Elizabeth's story arc....Which really speaks volumes to that score, apart from the rehashed stuff from Pirates 1 and 2.

The Dark Knight Rises gives us a Bane theme, meanwhile rehashing everything under the sun with both Batman begins and Dark Knight...

Youd think Zimmer would have given us a better end theme this time around but no...he gave us a percussion-lite version of A Dark Knight off the Dark Knight Ost.

WTF Zimmer...WTF. You lose your balls or something?

Shatwell2012-07-17 08:28:02
The Dark Knight May RISE, but I think its high time a film composer FALLS...Yes Im looking at YOU Zimmer.
