with all the respect in the world for mr zimmer and i think in modern times he is as GOOD as IT WAS the legendary ENNIO MORRICONE do have a question on the soundtrack on BLACK rain..i've searched all his soundtrack who are brilliant but i've missed one..when SUGAI enters the club and before that minute 54 and 15-20-30 seconds what's the name of the song..it;s driving me mad searching for it..i have the original dvd and all sound track on my computer all except that!!
This is ultimately one of the best film scores Hans have ever composed in 1990. Even for an expanded score with additional music from the late Shirley Walker and recording artists from UB40, Iggy Pop, etc., this is truly a must have and a part of the RCP Collector's library.

To me this is one of the best scores he has ever composed, period. It's easily among my top 3 favorites of his. Then again, when I listen to Hans, I listen almost always to his late 80s/90s/early 00s stuff.

@Cloud I feel the same. Late 80's, all 90's and early 2000's... what a great era for film music lovers !

You're right folks. Late '80s and '90s contain the most fantastic stuff from the RCP team. From early 2000, it would seem that the decline-twilight of the memorable theme/cues begins....
Sanguinely, LLL and Intrada will bring to light more of them (remember Intrada's White Fang).

I included the early 00s solely because of scores like Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Hannibal, Spirit or The Last Samurai. These are all great. To me, the last big score of that era was King Arthur. After that, things started to change considerably.
That being said, I really hope LLL or someone decides to release Bird on a Wire and Days of Thunder.

Yeah, King Arthur was probably Zimmer's last great score.
And I second Bird on Wire and Days of Thunder! But great scores that need to be released officially

I think you people are forgetting Pirates 2 & 3! Especially the 3rd!

... and The Da Vinci Code (at least).

Yes, Da Vinci Code and Pirates 3, or even Inception were really good in their own right... but they were exceptions in this "new" era.
I don't know if it is film music that changed, or if it was just me, but from 1995 to 2003, I was excited every 3 months with something new. Then it started to decrease. Yes I liked King Arthur, but it was not half as good as Gladiator or Black Hawk Down were. Batman Begins, though it is now iconic and an important evolution in film music, still remains for me a little bit uninteresting and weak.
Maybe I started to get older and lost some natural childood enthusiasm ? Or was there a real decline in quality or inspiration ?... don't know.

Indeed, great news! So cool to see all these awesome HZ scores being released - Broken Arrow, White Fang and now this. Here's hoping that Lion King and Gladiator aren't too far. :-)

Oh, boy. LLL saves the day once again. Black Rain has to be the quintessential Zimmer action score and my absolute alltime favorite of his. This is as good as ordered.

No August dudes. End of Sep or early October. It's gonna be the wickedness!!! LLL needs to tackle more Media Ventures stuff! What on earth have they been doin'?.....

You don't say, bro! Count me in! It's about time to get another fine Zimmer release by triple L. Stop your grinning and drop your linen!
I was hoping some signed copies but the out hopes were trashed by "No signed Black Rain copies. Altough the project was produced with the blessing of Mr. Zimmer."

Guys, this score was conducted by Shirley. But what exactly did Shirley conduct in this one? Was she conducting Hans' fingers whilst he performing and sequencing the music on his synthesizer?

There's an orchestra in that score.
Not a big one, but there is... ;)
