Sounds like a Zimmer version of the Top Gun Anthem to me. Whoever did it, it works!me who seldom watch any of these superhero movies and remakes went and saw the new aladdin last weekend.<br><br>based on my own experience of that remake i have come to the conclusion that maybe some of the reviewers are stuck-up and not open-minded? i did enjoy the new takes on some of the songs. the new movie felt like that. a new different movie to me. <br><br>i decided that i will go and watch these movies for myself now. and i would not watch (or listen to original scores) in advance to build up expectation. i will go and enjoy my time and the songs.<br><br>that's all &#175;\_(&#12484;)_/&#175; you can't please everyone.To be honest. I love the bonus score tracks, nut those remixes are a wazte of disc soace in my opinion. I would've rather have 20 extra minutes of score.<br><br>Let the Complete Score come!For everyone that's heard it, is the Deluxe Edition worth a double dip?@Hybrid is this the combination of FYC promotional score + official release by LLL?

It would be nice to have composers credits@DT<br>Disney definitely tries to put quality into their projects, which is why I admire them. As youve said, WDAS and Pixar are both churning out some excellent and original films. Even Marvel, despite its formula and flaws, tries new things with the films and stick closely to the source material. <br><br>The problem with the remakes is that they seem to be nothing more than cash-grabs that prey on nostalgia. If you are going to retell a beloved story at least try something different and exciting, instead of trying to copy/paste what everyone has seen.
This is where I wish we could edit our comments.<br><br>Not only do you have WDAS doing mostly-new movies (I hesitate to say 'original') but you have Pixar doing them as well. Toy Story 4 was their last sequel for the foreseeable future, with them even eschewing the popular option of doing an Inside Out sequel for original projects.I feel like people are overreacting in a way that suggests these remakes have far more power than they actually do. The studio that makes them is separate from every other studio. These remakes suffer from the issue of being inferior to the original source material, mainly because they rely so heavily on copying the originals so heavily. Im not necessarily against Disney updating their classics if they are willing to do new takes on the material. Take Jungle Book for example; they were able to do something fresh with the concept while keeping elements of the animated film. Even Maleficent, which Im not crazy about, tried something new. <br><br>Another BIG issue Ive noticed is the fact that they lean towards hiring actors who cannot sing, or at least cannot sing on the level required. Emma Watson, Will Smith, Chiwetel Ejiofor, etc.

The major pieces like "Prologue" and "Transformation" were left relatively intact but otherwise the rewrite was a bit more substantial than what Zimmer and crew did here. Compare the final battle music from the original (which consists to a large degree of upbeat instrumental versions of "Be Our Guest") to the remake (which is largely serious, straightforward orchestral action music). I haven't heard his new Aladdin so I'm not sure what the old:new ratio was there.<br><br>I'm not necessarily complaining, this is basically what I expected the score would be from the moment it was announced. The problem lies deeper, with the entire premise of these pointless remakes that allow very little wiggle room for freshness or creativity. Of course, I have no doubt this movie will make north of a billion dollars and give the Disney execs further license to print money. Maybe by the time they've remade every single film in their vault enough time will have passed that they can just start from the beginning again and nobody need ever be subject to the indignity of an original story ever again.It's a variation of the theme Anthem from the first Top Gun film by Harold Faltermeyer.whats the name of the song being played in this trailer?<br>is it available online

Shameful music compaired to Zimmer's score. If they ever make another Lion King movie please bring ZIMMER back!!!!

Well, our wishes came true! Now they are making another Lion King movie and they have brought Zimmer back :D
In about one month we'll hear the new music.

It is well known the similarity between part of the score of this movie and Pirate's. I was wondering why they didn't release it separately or even inside this album. Is there any reason? Or they fact that they didn't release it was strategic? It is indeed helpful to re-use stuff when it is officially out there.

The Lion King 2 is a Direct to Video movie, therefore it's considered a "lesser project", as well as its score.
Back in 1998, original scores were less trendy than today, song albums were often all we got, especially coming from Disney (another exemple: The Tigger Movie).

It's pretty sad, as TLK2 contains a good score by Nick Glennie-Smith, in between The Rock and Pirates, with a "Lion King" flavor.

I've noticed something curious during my digging into the ASCAP archies: one cue, apparently simply titled "The Lion King" which is also assigned the name "Lion King II Cues", was done by Zimmer. It wouldn't refer to the only pre-existing track in the film ("He Lives In You") which according to my copy of Rhythm Of The Pride Lands, Zimmer had nothing to do. It'd be a stretch to say it would be the end hit of "Circle Of Life" which can be heard at the title card. So, I'm wondering if Zimmer DID compose something for the film, maybe something that ended up rejected.

Well, he did do some consulting with Daniel Pelfrey for Joseph: King of Dreams following Prince of Egypt and, according to Pelfrey's website, helped out with song production. Granted, that's not nearly the same as being onboard for the project. :P

...and "Joseph" was Dreamworks, not Disney, which Zimmer has always been involved with anyway.

I'd completely forgotten about this being a thing. I agree with Edmund: Zimmer was probably too expensive for a direct-to-video sequel. I wouldn't have been surprised if he did consultation work with Nick Glennie-Smith.

Sad that none of the score is on here, despite it not being a shade on Zimmer's score for the first, it did have some good moments that would have made nice suites. His site has a few low-fi tracks in mono, but that's not the same thing.

Maybe someday, if Intrada keeps delving into the Disney Vault, the scores to all the Lion King films will appear, if not complete, then at least expanded. Here's hoping.

Yes! The music of 'Lion King' is a pre-pirate composition. The theme is the same with a little variation and the old percus of MediaVentures.

Nick Glennie Smith is really one of the best composers of Remote Control sequels.
