Richter is a conceptual artist, I love his Leftovers score, but come one, scoring to picture ?

He writes pieces that are used in scenes, not the other way around...

Richter scoring a moon buggy chase ? Hell no... lol you could see from day one it was gonna be replaced...^ Yeah the edit floating around matches Felix’s almost to a T. Only major difference is

“Our Final Stand - Showdown - United Greece - Finale”

Which is broken up into four separate cues. Realistically you could edit it anyway you want if you prefer the smaller cues. Personally, I like the long suite-like format of this release. Kinda like the album release for “Event Horizon” lol.I hope they at least release Richter's score. My Edit:

01. I am still a little bit confused though. Do any Basil Poledouris cues go somewhere in that list? It’s been a very very long time since I have seen the film.
The Hans cues used are :

1M1 OPENING CREDITS / MAIN TITLE (USED FROM 2:18 TO 3:03)
1M2 GOLDEN STAIRCASE (USED FROM 0:00 TO 1:56)
2M2 JACK SEES WOLVES
2M3 BLACK WOLF
2M6 THE TREK CONTINUES (USED FROM 0:28 TO 1:15)
3M1 THIN ICE
3M2 SKUNKER'S DEATH
3M3 FULL MOON WOLF ATTACK
3M3A MORNING WOLF ATTACK
6M4 THE BEAR
6M4A THE BEAR ATTACK
7M3 IN THE STABLE
7M5 WHITE FANG FIGHTS SATAN
8M1 FIGHT MONTAGE (FIRST HALF USED)
8M3 PIT FIGHT (FINAL 20 SEC USED)

All the rest, by definition, is Basil's score...Hey hybrid soldier! You mentioned on the ghost in the shell page about white fang so I came here! Can you give us a list of the cues as they appear in the film please? The Basil Poledouris cues and the Hans Zimmer cues pleaseI imagined it ... hopefully this time Max Ritcher does not give him a lollipop and refuses to launch his musicYes Unbreakable.

Exactly like White Fang. Have Poledouris write a score, then HZ do another, then pick what you want from both.

Ghost In The Shell was kinda different...In the credits of the movie, Max Ritcher appears as the Main Composer, meanwhile, Lorne appears as Additional Music
I find that it would be best to accredit both and launch the two soundtracks and all happy.Hybrid implies that Max Ritcher's score was rejected, and that Lorne made a new one and in the end, the best of both has been used. I am right?ANd now apparently another guy is scoring it as well lmaoTechnically he's a little under 50% used so there's no obligation. But he wrote a whole score for it.but if Lorne has written 50% of the score you should have a credit like in Ghost in the shell

I just saw the movie. I thought it was great and I don't understand the mixed reviews. Though I do find it a shame that the awesome theme wasn't used enough--and in its biggest form (What Are You Going to Do When You Are Not Saving the World?) was essentially relegated to the end credits. There was the main build in the final scene, and then the big part was the beginning of the end credits.

For what it's worth, "This is Clark Kent" doesn't appear like that in the movie. It's basically there, but in little pieces.

Richard,
Are you sure "if you love these people" is not heart twice in the movie? When Kyrpton is destroyed ...?
About "flight" , are you talking about part 1 or 2?
Thanks.

Apparently the 2nd part(starts 3:00) of Flight is slightly different on the album than in the movie(includes sweeping strings).
Can anyone confirm this?

Marco2013-06-16 21:03:01
Yeah, that's true . I mentioned that further down

Is What Are You Going To Do When You Are Not Saving The World? used in the film or is it one of the experiments?

Everan2013-06-16 04:11:18
It's the closing track for the film, it's in there.

Anonymous2013-06-16 04:14:08
Oh good! I'd be disappointed if it weren't! And side note: Filmtracks gave this score 1 star out of 5. No surprise.

michael2013-06-16 05:14:21
Do you mean closing track as in last track in the film or is it just used in the credits??

Everan2013-06-16 05:17:59
Last track, leads into the credits. In the credits it finishes and starts with one of Zod's theme.
But it's in the film alright.

Mike2013-06-16 05:18:08
I believe Everan means it's the last track used in the film, before the credits.

michael2013-06-16 11:30:47
Alright that's great news, CANNOT wait see that played in the film

Mike reply Replies: 9 || 2013-06-15 07:07:59
Edmund Meinerts, I seem to recall you hoping for great things within the MoS score. Have you listened to any of it yet? If so, how do you like it?

Edmund Meinerts2013-06-15 10:05:41
I'm just now listening to it, just finished "Tornado". I like it! It's easily the best thing Zimmer has done in the last few years, since Inception at least. That said, I don't love it - I still have issues with how Zimmer synthifies his orchestra, and I think the 12 drummers thing is totally underused and the end result doesn't sound different from some regular old drum samples (it was mostly a marketing gimmick, it seems). But a cue like "If You Love These People" sounds like it could be from The Lion King or something, and I like that it's got a hint of that old-school 90s Zimmer sound I love. We'll see how the rest of the album turns out.

...2013-06-15 10:23:33
or wait till you can hear the sessions to make your final judgement:)

Ds2013-06-15 11:04:34
Mike, have you seen the movie now? How does the score work within the film? Is it well-mixed or buried in the noise?

... and are there a lot of missing parts in this album?

Meta2013-06-15 18:13:39
I caught a small handful of music that was not present on the album...Most notably a piano motif that plays when Lois is on Zod's ship....And then there's another bit of underscore during a preparation montage, if I recall correctly. Plus a variation where Superman saves/flies with Lois...

Mostly I just heard the themes on the album, which is good...

Marco2013-06-15 19:15:58
Yeah, exactly what I noticed and the cue when Jor El is helping lois which I enjoyed. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure the flight cue on the movie was slightly different than on the album. There was a little more strings. But all in all I though Zimmers score worked well with the movie. We could have done with another theme for the action scenes and a bit more emotional cues. I cannot see the sessions offering anything more significant than what we have on the album. Even when I met zimmer. He said he has put everything we need as a listen on the album. For once I agree with him.

Ds2013-06-15 19:50:11
Thanks for your answers Meta & Marco. Another question: are the 6 bonus tracks featured in the movie, or are they only suites/demos/experimentations?

Mike2013-06-15 20:05:26
Ds, no, I haven't seen the movie yet, unfortunately. Too many conflicting schedules, haha. I think it'll have to be some time next week.

Marco2013-06-15 20:28:06
@ds

Yes they seem to be in the movie but I couldn't locate the earth cue at all.

Meta2013-06-15 22:46:03
The second disc are like demos...or variations...

The sketchbook track is demos of the main score...

Personally, I just bought the entire deluxe because why the hell not, but really, out of the extra tracks I only bother with Arcade and Earth and Zod...

But the sketchbook is nice because it features a variation of If You Love These People that has a different ending...

Blu reply Replies: 1 || 2013-06-15 08:51:38
Boy, I wish the mastering house had touched this stuff more gently. Maybe it is me but I think the sound level is too loud and irritatingly "sharp" in most cues. It is alright on a regular stereo I suppose, but definitely not a portable-music-player-friendly kind of mastering for me.

Ds2013-06-15 11:02:53
I noticed that too. The volume variations are sometimes huge. The mid-section of "This Is Clark Kent" is almost inaudible, while the drums at the end are much louder... The ending of "Flight" is also much louder than the rest of the album.

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 5 || 2013-06-12 08:45:16
BTW there is a difference between the physical & digital version.

On CD the tracks are shorter because crossfaded (Oil Rig for instance is 1:31 while it's 1:45 on the digital one).

Tracks are all independent from the others on the digital one. First time ever I see this !

Mike2013-06-12 08:47:35
I noticed that too. You'd think there'd be crossfading, then the song ends entirely. Oh well. Not complaining. Crossfading was never my favorite anyway, because then you need to edit the tracks if you want to put them in chronological order.

Master2013-06-12 11:11:29
They did it with paul haslinger's three musketeers score as well, CD was crossfades, digital iTunes was not... weird indeed o.O

Hybrid Soldier2013-06-12 12:04:06
Well it can be understandable. Someone with CD would listen the whole thing.

While people buying track by track on iTunes would listen those individually.

I'm personally all for the not crossfaded one !

Mr Tweedy2013-06-13 01:05:06
Well, basically, crossfades do only work during a listening experience on CD, because it's like one big track split into segments.
When you compress/encode audio files, the data at the beginning/end of tracks is altered, thus you have "clicks" between tracks. That's why they probably choose to have separate tracks on digital download. Plus there's no purpose on having individual files that feature no real beginning or end !

Anonymous2013-06-15 04:58:34
Tweedy, that's not entirely true. The clicks only happen with MP3s because they append minute bits of data to the ends of files.

I uninstalled the app and tried to put in the code again. It won't allow it. Very frustrating.

Jean-Denis Haas2013-06-13 01:29:07
I had no problems on my iPhone. The only weird thing is that the drums sound like they're all funneled through a pipe in DTS mode, while the rest sounds nice spatially. As of now, it's a mixed bag. There seems to be more detail in the stereo version, especially during the drum parts, but other sections are really nice in DTS mode.

I don't hate zimmer, never will, I just miss his more melodic scores :(

Mike2013-06-12 08:42:47
Did you listen to all of the tracks? I actually think the last track on CD 1 (What Are You Going to Do When You Are Not Saving the World?) fits this film perfectly--or at least, it fits what the trailers convey the film as. Haven't seen the movie yet, of course.

Kent2013-06-12 11:10:26

@Hybrid Soldier:

Thanks for reply and infos. ;)

Speaking of about Jablonsky, let me ask you:

About "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron"
(Wonderful score & songs. Hans & Bryan's teamwork excellent.)

Track #5 "Brothers Under The Sun"
Credited Bryan Adams, Gretchen Peters, Steve Jablonsky

In this song main melody (starting in 56 second), besides in "The Long Road Back" (starting in 2:17') used but credit only Hans Zimmer. So, who composed the that (new age-style) melody? Is Zimmer, is Jablonsky?

P.S.: Sorry, my bad english.
