Listening to this complete score for the first time and it's really striking how different the mix is on the album. The snare drums are much further forward, and everything sounds a lot brighter and immediate but also "thinner" on the album. Whereas the film mix has synth parts I didn't even know exist, like at the very beginning of the main titles/"Fighting 17th".

I'm trying to decide which version I like more, and it's difficult! The film versions sound "richer" but I miss the ballsy snare drum rhythms...Hans Zimmer...Take me to your planet.

im sure its because bruckheimer wants his typical sound and for this type of movie, its no surprise, that he wants a rcp score. i was very surprised when bruckheimer accepted christopher young for Deliver Us from Evil. but that movie was not typical rcp territory and the director worked also with young before.Well that is depressingly predictable. Pinar Toprak is incredibly talented, and it's not that Balfe *isn't*, but he's so ubiquitous. He's not the one in need of a big break. And for all Zimmer's talk recently of raising the profile of female composers in Hollywood...jerry bruckheimer came on board for re-shots, so ofc they also have to change the score now. i like lorne, but a score by pinar toprak would have been really nice.
just came back from film.....did they shamelessly end up getting Balfe to rescore Mansell's main thematic material in the first half of the film including the shelling/opening titles (which btw, have the GHOST IN THE SHELL title appear TWICE?)? Because it's so different from the IMAX preview music wise, I was so bummed as Mansell's main theme was just amazing there, and in the finished it's just...eh? Mansell's original theme shines through the final third very nicely though.Wow, it's a surprise. From what i know, the movie should have arrived in 2016 and she worked on the movie for almost two years when it was in production.Apparently she was replaced. What happened with Pinar Toprak? It supposed she will make the scoreBalfe is scoring Geostorm as well. Dudes everywhere!
Great News. Enjoyed Planet Earth II immensely. One cues is missing. Rescue theme, with will.i.am voice i guess
04 Mad 2 1m11 Traveling Alakey
Does anyone know the name of the drum sample of electric drumkit that Hans & Co used a lot during the 90s, and it's in the beginning of Barbossa Is Hungry (around 8-9 seconds into the track).Hi Hans! I'm a big fan and also a Film Composer!

Currently I will be doing the music score for this short film, but the filmmakers need help with raising funds, could you help us with our crowdfunding?

https://www.gofundme.com/help-us-to-make-a-good-short-film

It's for a nice cause! This will be my first music score in a film ever! Thank you and god bless you all!Hi everyone, I would to ask to people who were present at the last year tour if there were some possibility to meet Hans (make a photo or some fan stuff with him). I really want to meet him and tell him how much I admire his work to the world film. :) thx, greetings from Czech Republic.

@Anonymous
thanks for the information

Phil2013-11-13 15:25:56
will it be available to buy?

MacArthur2013-11-13 17:08:09
It on iTunes.

Edmund Meinerts2013-11-13 18:54:27
Don't bother. One of the worst scores of the year...

MacArthur2013-11-13 19:43:56
Really?

Edmund Meinerts2013-11-13 21:28:15
Really. 75 minutes of empty percussion tracks and empty drones with no themes, no emotion, no point.

MacArthur2013-11-14 05:00:48
Cool Thanks.
