Life's Not Fair first part is similar > Tears of the Sun - Yekeleni Part 1 lolAny idea on the name of the song from the trailer?Honestly the biggest problem with this new version for me is the lack of new variants of the themes. They mostly just repeat verbatim Hans' original ideas with little to no innovation or changes made most of the time.

It also doesn't help that cues that did have wonderful variations such as "Nala Attacks", and "Nala & Simba" have been shortened to mostly cut them out. The worst cut being for the ending to "Mufasa's Ghost" which originally peaked the emotion with that lovely variation of Simba/The One True King theme transitioning into the Pride Rock theme, all of which is absent now.The comic con trailer for Season 3 looks excellent.

Really looking forward to next season & score.

I saw some early 1900 world. It's indeed a shame so much mhsic is missing from the official album.

Love to hear more!how about credits for the LLL set then?I'm just curious why there's so much dead air in the FYC tracks. Cues like "Shut it Down", "Burton Visits Prime Minister", or "Megatron has Squeeks" just have nothing to them!

No themes to speak of besides one horn blast of "Quintessa", no interesting melodies, or rhythm, just dead electronics and weak-feeling drums and strings which really doesn't fit in with the series' style. Not even the fourth movies'.Thanks Hybrid for explaining that. Makes more sense now.Yes it is because the FYC is horrible... The OST is what Steve & co wrote. The FYC is what came out of the Music Editing Factory, which I don't dig at all. You gotta realize one thing, this score is US recorded so every new 15 min of score you release, you gotta pay back reuse fees. Recording Session reply Replies: 19 || 2011-05-31 10:16:18
After reading this:

"Zimmer wrote several hours of music, with several different themes, even before Malick started to shoot the film. The director then played the music on the set, while filming, to get himself, and the rest of the crew and actors in the right frame of mind. Zimmer and collaborator John Powell composed over four hours of music on this film, presumably for the original director's cut of the film. However, when director Terrence Malick re-cut the film down to its current running time of 170 minutes, he chose only a few select pieces of music from Zimmer's and Powell's musical contributions, along with original source music, and much of Zimmer's compositions were cut."

I'm totally mad that this beautiful score does only have that less of music released. My goodness, why? Please can't they just release it now as a full Recording Session? Or damn, even leak this thing?...

Oh man, how i want this so bad. This is the MOST beautiful score from Hans Zimmer, and it's a shame we don't have all the music, now almost 14 years and until now only those few tracks and there exists more then 4 (!!!) hours of this beautiful music? Come on people, make your voice loud. WE WANT A RECORDING SESSION! Please...

Bador2011-05-31 14:51:25
4 hours TTRL? W-O-W... WANT!

Jimi2011-06-01 09:52:43
does even the 4 hours recording session exists?

Levente2011-06-01 10:27:12
Hans said on the criterion edition of the movie that he did all the music before Mallick even started shooting the movie, and he and Powell did roughly 4-5 hours of music, which was later selected by Mallick himself and edited into the movie. He also composed some stuff after Mallick finished the movie and worked with the editors in the 15 months process they edited the movie.

Or for example it was later cut out from the movie and was replaced by other composers like: Charles Ives, Arvo Pärt or Gabriel Fauré.

So I'm quessing Zimmer wrote more than 4 hours, but no news, no rumors on the the net about this recording session for several years. If the two Batman OST leaked so easily, The Thin Red Line should had been available alredy.

Gambit2011-06-01 10:44:06
my only guess that we haven't seen until yet from this 5 hours music collection is, that Remote Control uses the unreleased music as temp-tracks or samples or even are using them for other movies.

Just look over Elliot Goldenthals score to "Public Enemies". You'll find the track "Beam" and many others that seems to be from TTRL ("JD dies" for example).

Levente2011-06-01 10:56:41
In Public Enemies Zimmer's score was used as temp track, and even so one was used in the movie too, as you said the track called Beam. Even some unreleased stuff was given by Hans himself, thats why he is credited in the end, in the thanks section.

b00bs2011-06-01 10:56:46
I read Zimmer keeps telling people his score for the film is so much more - and so different - than what you hear in the film. He thinks its his best score, just not the version as we know it. Which really makes me hope we someday will hear more from it.

Fry2011-06-01 11:04:44
@ Levente: Do you know perhaps which tracks have been exactly given from Hans TTRL score for Public Enemies? Or just those two tracks that have been mentioned here (Beam and JD Dies)?

Hybrid Soldier2011-06-01 11:04:51
And for Public Enemies, not only HZ was thanked in the credits, but people from RCP did work on the score. Jacob Shea did some arrangements & programmings... ;)

Smith2011-06-01 11:18:42
does anyone know about this "different music" that b00bs have posted? Is this legit?

Why on earth haven't this released already aaaaaaah :O hehehe :P

Levente2011-06-01 11:56:57
@ Fry: JD Dies is an original composition by Goldenthal himself. The style is a bit similar to The Thin Red Line some people says, but I think it is more close to Goldenthal's Titus score.

The only "song" that stayed in movie from TTRL is Beam. And you can only hear it for a couple of seconds.

Alan2011-06-01 12:42:07
wow man, so many new comments about the thin red line on the fan comments box, i really was excited as i thought that the RS has been leaked or something else ^^

booooh to you all :P

True, some demos and unused pieces made their way onto the Director's Cuts series.

Matthieu2011-06-01 21:05:18
@Gavin Salkeld: are you referring to the DC version of TTRL or other director cut movies where those demos are used?

Gavin Salkeld - Composer2011-06-02 01:00:55
The Director's Cuts library music series :)

john2011-06-02 08:59:00
@Gavin: Do you know the tracks in those DC collections? And where do you know exactly that these belonges to the thin red line?

Gonzales2011-06-02 14:52:05
can HYBRID SOLDIER tell us, if there exists this 5 hours compilation as a Recording Session like the sincerly leaked Batman Begins and The Dark Knight recording sessions?

HYBRID SOLDER, any word? :P

Hybrid Soldier2011-06-02 16:15:11
I'm not christmas father !

Never heard of anything like that, just know from Jeff Rona that 12 hours were written for it, 6 recorded...

Gambit2011-06-02 22:03:48
6 hours recorded? Damn man, that's impressive! And we only know 1 hour of it? Oh wow... if i only could get my fingers on that version >.<

Gavin Salkeld - Composer2011-06-03 00:15:43
@John

No, I dont know specifics, just that a bunch of unused music/demos from a load of DC CDs came from actual movies.

there's a 16 minute featurette on hans scoring the thin red line available on the 2010 special edition of the thin red line dvd. If anyone has this could they upload to utube as it would be interesting to watch. Or if anyone has found it online. Thanks Jorge

completely here with ggh. crossing the fingers that hybrid can do some magic :)

ggh reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-03 00:00:00
sorry for making pressure hybrid, but you are the only one we know who has contact to RC.
And why THIS score? Because it's Hans masterpiece. The only score where Hans says, that this is really good. He always says to the other score that it's ok, but still not good for him. I'm sure he is only saying it so but loves them all ;) But still, he always said how much he loves TTRL. So i thought you could be asking if something could be released, or just "The Journey in Line" with those drums like in the movie.

Like you made it with Inception for these two tracks, now here for this only one track.

Please it would be soooooooo kind from you Hybrid. I know there are a lot of users who wants this too.

yeah seriously guys, give Hybrid a break :-D

don't abuse him just because he helped get two unreleased tracks from inception or whatever. Be grateful.

ggh reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-01 00:00:00
Oh and btw Brad, I hope for the recordings of your movie choices too :) I love any rc-releases from hans. so I hope we can see more in the future!

ggh reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-01 00:00:00
@Brad: hehehe sure, no problem. I no that there is nearly no chance for this, but you know, sometimes a wonder happens. and maybe this wonder will be this release here.

hans is so proud of his work for this movie. so why not releasing it with much love. but i guess he keeps it secret to have some tracks available for other movies where he can use it for.

that's why i'm asking just for the journey but WITH the drums. Or is anyone here able to reconstruate that track? Just putting a drum-layer on the original release track. It is sooooo brilliant with the drums. so epic...

Brad reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-01 00:00:00
@ggh: Haha, fat chance! Sorry to dampen your hopes of ever finding this, but I'm sure Zimmer himself is the only one that has access to the 5+ hours of music that were written for this film. But don't give up hope because I am still hoping for the full recording sessions from the following to be released: At World's End, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Sherlock Holmes, The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man's Chest, and The Lion King. See, there's always hope! :-) But in the words of Gandalf the White: "There never was much hope...just a fools hope." I guess you can label me the fool because I'm still hoping...

ggh reply Replies: 0 || 2011-01-31 00:00:00
hybrid, is there any chance of a recording session here? or maybe just the cue of the journey with the drums like in the movie? please please please. I would die happy if hans would release it...

Jim reply Replies: 0 || 2010-11-17 00:00:00
is no one interested on this soundtrack and having more of it?

Hans reply Replies: 0 || 2010-11-16 00:00:00
@RuthlessGravity:

yes i have this version and yes it's really unlistenable. too bad, the version is so epic with the drums.
i would love if hans would give this soundtrack more love and release a deluxe version of it with all the cues (more then 6 hours were written).

but i guess they want to use the unreleased cues for projects in the future. like a sample-archive. :/

but thanks a lot for your answer my friend :)

RuthlessGravity reply Replies: 0 || 2010-11-15 00:00:00
@ Hans

Currently no, there was a release of it from the movie but it was ripped from the film itself, thus having SFX which makes it unbearable to listen to.

Hans reply Replies: 0 || 2010-11-13 00:00:00
is there any chance on releasing "journey to the line" like it was in the movie? with the drums etc?
or does someone know where i can get similar drum-beats, so i can mix it myself?

please help!

@Skyler

Yes, I heard "Beam" early on in "Public Enemies" as well. The director, Michael Mann, is a big fan of Terrence Malick, who directed "The Thin Red Line." They've shared at least four actors (Colin Farrell, Christian Bale, Christopher Plummer, Wes Studi) and the Elliot Goldenthal score to "Public Enemies" sounds a lot like "Thin Red Line."

@Eric

Any luck finding sheet music?

Hi everyone

I think I have the same question as:

****2007/11/28 - Darren

Is the instrumental song at the beginning of the film just after Whit talks to the Melanesian woman with the baby on the soundtrack?****

It's an instrumental version of Jisas Yu Holem Hand Blong Mi.

I need to find it!

Levente reply Replies: 0 || 2009-09-26 00:00:00
Enrico is right. The extract is not from the CD but from a promotional material from Klaus Badelt. See here: http://www.hans-zimmer.com/fr/newsite.php?rub=detail&id=493

As you can see the track is number 7. And it was used in the films trailer.

Hi,
I'm looking for the Light sheet for the Thin red Line (piano only). I can't find any reseller, nor indications that it is available somewhere and especially in France where I leave.
I saw also the excellent pianist Vestard Shimkus played it on Youtube last year.
But really, I don't want to ask a CD or trade anything. I just desperate to find and BUY it.

Any idea would be really welcome
Thank you so much in advance for your reply
