I think what Lorne wrote for the last 30 min of the movie is way better than what ended in the movie... Lorne tried to elevate what was going on on screen, but it was probably too "bold" for the taste of production... They wanted to keep as "kow key" as possible but to me it made the ending of the film fall super flat...
<br>
<br>In the end there isn't that much Lorne in the film (most of the "Moon" reel is Lorne though, that big 4 notes motif appearing during the moon landing and then takeoff). Ironically most of the droning you're all complaining about is not that much Lorne... lol
<br>
<br>I really hope Lorne will put out as much music as possible, even all the unused parts, which are the more interesting ones !Taking in the movie now after having seen it. The cinematography is brilliant, and there are some interesting concepts that really will have you thinking long after walking out of the theater. Still, I couldn’t help but feel like the film dragged throughout. Coupled with the voiceover the movie has a very ‘Terence Malick-y’, “Thin Red Line” feel throughout.<br><br>I’m definitely not familiar with Max Richter so I can’t comment on what he might have written, but Balfe’s broad-chord style is pretty recognizable throughout. There are also some interesting electronic pieces used throughout, possibly might be Balfe but hard to say as of now. The rest of the music is pretty contemplative, ranging from slow/emotional string pieces to more ambient droning.Well, I heard only Balfe's "Prayer" and Richter's "To the stars"... All I can say is we need to wait for the full release, hear both composers and only then talk about who better coped with this. (and watch the movie of course)<br>I don't think Balfe is a bad composer. He does pretty good as an additional composer but not as a leading (mostly). The only soundtrack that I consider the best to date in his solo career is "M:I-Fallout" and "Assassin's Creed III". (imo)<br>Who knows what will be this time. But for now I like Richter's track more.I'm just waiting for Gemini Man, that (i hope) would be funI love that cue.
So I created a page for it, move away from Ghost In The Shell !! :PI wonder if this track is the one causing consternation: Nils Frahm: 'Says' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIwwjy4slI8<br><br>It sounds a bit like what Richter and Balfe could produce, but it is much more artistic than Balfe and much more synth-based than Richter. Frahm is credited for additional music.Not writing negative comments about Balfe for the purpose of writing negative comments - ie. trolling - but for the fact that Balfe does not seem to take film composition seriously. Goldsmith had a similar pace in the 1990s that equates to contemporary Balfe, but he managed to produce fantastic scores like Air Force One in a few weeks (yes, with some help from McNeeely). Balfe simply does not seem to have those skills so he resorts to cliches and drony nonsense. I await to be proven wrong. That Balfe track is not half-bad so I do maintain a general sense of expectation for this.Not any more lame than the Balfe cueLorne says it will be released and insists it’s not a GITS situation.
That's been standard in certain cases, though considerably less nowadays with how complicated these situations have become.<br><br>Having heard both tracks posted, both give me little on their own. I'm sure they work better in the context of the film, and we might see better tracks unveiled eventually.He deserve better.Hans and Lorne like twins. Lorne has a very good personality. I still don't understand why some people are still writing bad comments to Lorne?Probably... lolSo is this how it’s gonna be? Official release for Richter and leaks by Balfe :(Lorne posted a track from Ad Astra on his YouTube channel
Thank you. And i suppose "Need You Busting My Balls - End Credits" title would correspond to ASCAP "Need You Busting My Balls" + "RUSH END CREDITS", while "Just Married" to "RUSH MAIN ON END"?That’s literally the best part of the score though. But it’s typical Richter (Miss Sloane, Black Mirror: Nosedive).Hunt Drunken Weirdness is barely a cue actually, it's just a patch up of sound designs by Mel...<br><br>Italian Party is a name I made up for a cue that's not used in the movie ! :)In ASCAP there is a cue "HUNT DRUNKEN WEIRDNESS" - is this by a chance an alias to "Italian Party", which is absent in ASCAP. Though there are different credits Zimmer/Wesson vs Zimmer/Klebe.https://open.spotify.com/ track/2UcUL4jytfVpW0jSXi3Ggi?si=ETyixI67R5u9AOU1YuClPw<br><br>very lame the cue from Max...

Hello everyone. I have recently watched "Son of God" and was blown away by the music in the scene where Jesus was lashed by the Romans. It's a slower and dramatic version of the main-theme. I was looking to find it on this soundtrack and also in "The Bible", but can't find it somehow?! Is it really not on the soundtrack, or am I just unable to find it? ^^

Please everyone, can you help me to find this cue or isn't it on the soundtracks? Thank you so much in advance and hope for your help.

PLEASE anyone HELP me :(

SPECTER2019-01-24 03:55:49
Check out the soundtrack for The Bible. It may be one of the tracks in that score. If it is not, then you will have to wait for a more complete OST to be released hopefully.

paz de DIOS me gusta la interpretación que hace musicalmente del amor de DIOS para con los hombres por eso le envió este mensaje como petición para poder glorificar a DIOS con un instrumento musical

Was new music composed for this movie, or is this just the score from The Bible verbatim?

Mike2014-11-01 01:28:27
I guess I should say, was ANY new music composed? Obviously several of the tracks were carried over, but that doesn't mean there couldn't have been a few new cues or something.

NM2014-11-01 10:58:28
I didn't hear anything new. Then again I don't think it matters either way, 'The Bible' score wasn't anything that new to begin with. I was and am still genuinely disappointed with what Balfe (& friends) were asked to produce for this, given his talent. It's not bad music or anything, but it's a really safe score given the subject matter.

Unadventurous, staid, playing to the 'modern' sound et al.

It's not terrible, it's got some nice textures, but it just doesn't do much for me. I know it's not a fair comparison, but listen to the dynamism, daring and lyricism of 'The Prince of Egypt' and then compare it to this. It's not that I expected another musical or animation score, far from! But this just, I dunno, just doesn't capture my imagination at all.

Listen to "In The Beginning" on this very site, it's the same kind of basic-melody-over-string-ostinato-build-up you hear nearly everywhere nowadays. It's like a weak version of Chevalier de Sangreal.

That doesn't mean it's bad music, as a standalone piece it's pleasant enough, it's got a nice solo performance, it just doesn't evoke god, or the bible, or faith or struggle. The feeling it evokes to me is closer to American triumphalism if anything, indeed I can imagine it set to the beginning of a Call of Duty game.

best Music.. And i Love it.. when i watch the flim i cried. its also cause by this score. Best music for the best movie of Jesus history.

trent easton navarro2014-05-05 22:43:57
Guess you never heard Debney's The Passion of the Christ ;)

Mike2014-05-05 22:45:22
The Passion of the Christ score was BRILLIANT. Beats this one by a long shot.

Edmund Meinerts2014-05-06 00:35:59
For goodness sake, forget Zimmer OR Debney. What about Miklos Rozsa or Alfred Newman? To say that this is the best biblical or Jesus-related score is practically criminal...

Anonymous2014-05-06 04:47:23
For goodness sakes, silence the panel. I think this is an extremely individualized experience, across all those superb films and scores. Let it resonate with whom and however, please.

Son Of God was amazing!! The Bible series also touched my entire family! We were close to God before but now thanks to the lovley Roma Downey and Mark Burnette we are more closer to our Lord than ever. Thank you Roma and Mark for your beautiful work!!

You should leave this place before Hybrid (Or someone else (That includes me and everyone else) kicks you out of here. You loved the music, fine, but don't come here and yell how great God is.

How many tracks are totally new?

Are there any that were just renamed or shortened from The Bible?

Anonymous reply Replies: 11 || 2014-03-25 23:45:18
Lorne Balfe is doing the Hercules score?

trent easton navarro2014-03-26 09:48:15
God, I hope not! Here's hoping a composer with some actual talent ends up scoring this one. Would love to see Ratner reunite with Powell on this one (that or Elfman)

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-26 11:50:56
That would be pretty uninspiring news if it's true.

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-26 11:58:26
Goddammit. It says Balfe's name indeed on Wikipedia. That doesn't mean anything yet, but still...what a thoroughly blah choice of composer.

Edmund Meinerts2014-03-26 19:11:29
Turns out it's not Balfe at all, but rather Fernando Velazquez! That's one of the most interesting composer choices I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to hear what it sounds like, his score for The Impossible a couple years ago was amazing.

trent easton navarro2014-03-26 19:42:37
There's a filmscore God after all!

Spence2014-03-26 19:46:59
Film Music Reporter just reported Fernando Velazquez will be scoring the film.

Anonymous2014-03-26 19:58:11
Huh, the Wikipedia editor must have been a little too hopeful ;)

Yes, thank you, Spence.

proves once again, never trust wikipedia. just like the time they listed Elliot Goldenthal as the composer for Thor 2

Never trust wikipedia, especially about film music. That's one of the most ill-documented subjects on it...

Does anyone know anything about a score release for Heaven Is For Real, by NG-S? Hybrid??

Luffy reply Replies: 1 || 2014-03-18 14:50:27
Hi Hybrid

Could you please tell me, are there any new tracks in the album, beside fisher of men. Are the tracks the exact same as the bible ost or are there any tracks with alternate versions etc.

RealFfingMusic2014-03-24 11:45:05
Same Q. :|

JamesT reply Replies: 1 || 2014-02-26 04:57:09
Looking forward to seeing the movie. Don't get me wrong, I have strong convictions about my Faith and The Bible. LOVED the mini-series, certain I will love the film. BUT WHY the dialog over such wonderfully moving and spiritually-infused music?!? Rather aggravating, thought I don't like mentioning one in the same compliant about the other :) The track names themselves give the appropriate context for the music. Although, I would have bought the soundtrack alone for tracks 13 (original version used in the last half of the trailer), 8, and MOST CERTAINLY 5. Hoping for a complete release someday!

Bioscope2014-02-26 17:17:58
Amen to that!

Hybrid Soldier2014-02-16 18:42:06
No it's mainly stuff from the Bible OST...

Zimson2014-02-17 00:18:15

I really don't understand why some people think it's a good idea to add dialogs from the movie on the original soundtrack. The good thing is that we already own clean versions of almost all these tracks, so it's no big deal :-)

Hybrid Soldier2014-02-16 13:56:03
Yeah actually the only good addition is the great track "Fisher Of Men", which is "clean"...

All those cues are from The Bible series anyway...

Bioscope2014-02-16 15:27:04
And Universal does it again.... Will they never ever learn?

RealFfingMusic2014-02-16 17:40:59
I hope there'll be a clean complete score.
