Are the above credits with only Hans complete or not? If they are, then it's interesting how much of this album is just Zimmer. Even if it is an exercise in musical intensity more than anything else. I have to yet to see the film, but the score isn't as bad as I was worried it would be. In fact, most of it's just fine, and I look forward to hearing it with the film. It certainly does raise the pulse when you listen to it. It's like dread in musical form.I know exactly what part you're talking about. Unfortunately that segment wasn't released in any part of the score. It's a matter of waiting for the film version when the complete score is released.Perhaps. I also noticed a more heroic variation. How to turn the theme into a march.Lol, why though?
But yeah I think it will get disqualified. Maybe it'll get a Golden Globe.Hans probably hopes so... Warner not so much... lol
Do you guys think Dunkirk will be disqualify from the Oscars because the score used Elgar's theme? Similar to how Johannson was disqualified for using Richter's piece.I wanted that track as well!!! recording sessions when :'(I think its probably a remix by Hi-Finesse or someone like that. Just guessing maybe based on some of Elfmans work based on XL&Zimmer's themesYep. I know, but we have to agree that Elfman would never do anything like that. I do not think even XL.
Listen again. They refer to the themes of Hans' Superman in the second half of the trailer.I'd also like that chilling piece from when the ship sinks

other than that, not that much I desire
You said it yourself "almost never".
Some MoS trailers featured Hans' score. ComicCon trailer for BvS featured music from Hans and Tom.
I actually didn't hear any reference to Hans' 3 main Supes motifs. Beside the hints of "Come Together", I find the music rather boring anf generic.no, you can buy on steamNo.
The trailer's music is almost never is composed by the composer of the score. It is made by a specialized company. So, is that Elfman's score in the trailer? It seems a bit early, but if that is, I just MIGHT be okay with him taking over from Junkie.Okay, point taken, but at least his previous scores for Nolan were obviously music and had an emotional presence. And the two note Batman theme was actually something Hans had to convince Nolan about. Nolan wanted this heroic theme that was left unused.
@Mike Hans himself said sometimes a movie does not need a melody theme. It depends on the movie and the characters in it.
the main character here is fear threat and so on... in that regards the score respects that.

@hybrid: in order to have the full soundtrack we will then have to wait for bluray and rip the music & effect out of it. ^^This was one of the most emotionally engaging movies I have ever seen. I suspect it has to do with the fact that my father was a WW II vet who was on a ship going through the Straits of Gibraltar when they were bombarded by German airplanes. The selection of Elgar's Nimrod was a stroke of genius. It rises and falls like the ocean, like a wheezy organ. I wept. This movie is a tribute to the Everyman who did his or her part. We need to be reminded. It's not iTunes ????? Hybrid any examples you can post ?I’m going to see the movie again on Tuesday, but after the first viewing I would say yes and no. The cues on the album are mostly in chronological order (towards the end at least) and I would say ‘Home’, ‘The Oil’, ‘Variation 15’ and ‘End Titles’ play basically unchanged in the movie. However, in my experience the ticking sound is much more present throughout the entire movie and speeds up and slows down during tense moments. On the top of my head, there is not a cue that played in the film that stood out for not being on the album, except for the one when Tommy and Gibson are racing the stretcher across the beach. It’s the staccato violin or cello cue. I don’t know what kind of cue was composed for the prologue since I haven’t seen it, but judging from the comments here that cue is missing as well.Totally agree on that note . Genius has been one of most unique scores in ages and the music is great

Hybrid, do you know anything about who will be doing song for The Last Knight. Imagine Dragon´s Battle Cry was nice so I was wondering if they will come back or Linkin Park will return or if they will use some new song. Thanks in advance

Imagine Dragons are finishing their new album, which should be announced soon.

So it's very possible that one of the singles will be featured in TF5.

So, Jablonsky is scoring Ninja Turtles 2. I actually can't wait to see what he comes up with. filmmusicreporter.com/2015/09/04/steve-jablonsky-to-score-te enage-mutant-ninja-turtles-2/

Edmund Meinerts2015-09-05 08:24:41
Damn. I'd have liked to see Tyler return, his score for the first one is one of his very best. Jablonsky hasn't written a score I've really liked since Your Highness, so I won't hold out hope.

Brent2015-09-05 09:31:25
I'll agree with you there, Edmund. Last years TMNT was certainly one of the best of Tyler's career. I'm a little partial to Jablonsky, though. Not sure exactly why, but for some reason or another, I'm always drawn to his music a little more than other composers out there (other than Zimmer and Williams, of course). I guess you could say Jablonsky is to me as Djawadi is to Macejko. Lol

MrZimmerFan2015-09-05 12:15:26
I hope Jablonsky delivers

Macejko2015-09-06 09:47:54
Seriously, Edmund? Ever since Iron Man 3 all Tyler does is rehashing himself. TMNT sounds EXACTLY the same as IM3 and Thor, and you say it's "one of his very best"? Even "Into The Storm" had more individuality to it, and that's talking about a score that - once again - ripped of Hans' "Time". I can't say TMNT isn't a entertaining score in some ways, but come on - Jabs is in a completely different league and always was.

Edmund Meinerts2015-09-07 09:34:55
TMNT is more orchestrally dense and rhythmically complicated than pretty much any other Tyler score I've ever heard. There are bits in there that almost sound like the Matrix in terms of intricate, overlapping brass writing, something you definitely don't hear in IM3 or Thor 2 - just listen to the track "Turtles United" from about the 3-minute mark onwards, that's some phenomenal brass writing! Yeah, the main theme is a typical one from Tyler, and probably the score's biggest weakness overall, but the actual composition itself is at a level far beyond his two Marvel scores.

I'll take Jablonsky at his best over anything Tyler's done as well, but for me Jablonsky has only ever been at his best in about 2.5 scores: Steamboy, Transformers 1 and the best 20-30 minutes or so of Your Highness. For the rest of his career he's been wildly unpredictable and hit-and-miss (with an emphasis on the former, sadly). Tyler's as stale a composer as you could find in the current film scoring arena, I won't deny that, but he is at least consistent.

MacArthur2015-09-10 05:45:02
I don't know his Battleship score was pretty good.

Edmund Meinerts2015-09-10 11:44:57

AHA reply Replies: 4 || 2015-09-05 20:31:09
I like Brian Tyler and Steve Jablonsky, but the first Score for TMNT was not his best. His Scores for the Fast & Furious Franchise is so much better. Jablonsky composed great Scores for Transformers, Enders Game, Lone Survivor and the other ones.

Hybrid Soldier2015-09-05 21:41:16

Yeah Hybrid same here. I feel sorry for him. I dont know how Michael Bay could even produce something like that. I mean, he knows how to make enterraining blockbusters and he knows how to make great action scenes, so HOW could he not notice how dull and un-entertaining the 1st movie was?? Hopefully everyone involved will step up their game for the 2nd one, but I have my doubts :-p

Hi guys, TF4 released in my country (Hungary), and i've find a difference in our version and the english one. So when the Dinobots blocking the bridge, in the music plays the "Honor To The End" from 1:14 in the english one. But in the Hungarian, there plays the Decision variant. I don't know why. You guys have something like this is your versions?

Everan2014-11-07 18:33:33
Here in Mexico, all versions had Honor to the End, even the bluray which was released like 2 weeks ago, has it.

Very curious to hear it though. I assume it was the last bit of Decision, the dramatic heroic part, yes?

m2014-11-07 18:37:35
actually I never thought someone could (or want to) pay that much attention to detail in terms of music in hungary. yes, another hungarian here...
I cant help you with this specific thing you're saying but I can say that many times they change or leave out things. in music also in dialogue and editing. I dont know why and its disturbing that they actually can.
if you want to be safe and clear then watch the english original mix always because no matter where you are on this planet thats what the director approved.

Lejti2014-11-07 23:08:11
Everan: yep, the dramatic heroic part plays in there.

Ignore these assholes. There is no expanded score out for this movie. The best you could do to make it longer is to get a hold of the four EP tracks the composer put out shortly before the rest of the soundtrack.

In time, something longer and better might show up but for now, be happy with what we have. We almost didn't get anything.

So I finally saw the film, which is pretty weak... Too long & totally messy (I mean, more than usual for Bay).

I love Bay but this was terribly disappointing, the few great scenes, like the "Your Creators Want You Back" sequence, are surrounded by a total mess... And it brings nothing we haven't seen in the 3 previous films... -_-

As for the score, it's not a masterpiece either... Compared to it, TF1 & 2 are golden age classics (but well those 2 were co-written by some people who didn't work on 3 & 4, that's why...) ! I do dig Lockdown's theme in the end, and the Imagine Dragons/Jablonsky/Zimmer song participation is for me the best thing in it... Other than that, it manages to get as lost as the film it supports !

theeaglesfan0052014-07-19 18:30:20
yeah, well, that's just, like your, opinion, man.

Hybrid Soldier2014-07-19 18:39:21
Yes I never said otherwise...

David2014-07-19 19:21:24
People should know the length of a movie they're headed into. Especially if it's a Michael Bay movie, expect it to be long.

Hybrid Soldier, in what way was it "a total mess"?

Ds2014-07-19 19:42:08
I think the score was very fitting to the pictures, but not as stand-alone as the previous three.

As for the film, it is in my opinion by far the best out of the series. All the things I loved in the previous ones were back (and even better), and some of the things that really annoyed me in the first movies, were toned down or just removed. Also, the story was better, and the humans had a real role to play, instead of just being in the middle of a neverending Decepticon/Autobots war.

I just cannot understand how one can like TF2 or TF3, and not this one. It's got the same ingredients, and it's just more expertly handled. You know, in fact it's reminds me of Pirates of the Caribbean 3: its plot was a little more dense and its directing was a bit more daring, and then suddenly everyone was complaining about how long and messy it was. But for me it was by far the best of the trilogy...

But don't forget I'm a gigantic fan of Michael Bay's visual style, I could watch endlessly any scene shot by him. And I saw TF4 three times already (and still noticing new awesome shots the third time around!).

You have no idea what I mean by "too long"... MOS is too short, and Titanic is perfect... ;)

It's all relative to the movie, and TF4 would have been way better with 30 min less I think...

It's a mess in so many ways I wouldn't know where to start... Characters appearing from nowhere & disappearing with no reason, the total changing of Stanley Tucci out of nowhere in the middle, the constant incoherences about the Transformers origins in all 4 movies (first it all came from the Cube, which arrived... on Earth... But Earth was already visited by Transformers with the tomb of the Primes, and actually there was a Transformers on the Moon who was reaching Earth, but no no in the end Transformers destroyed Dinosaurs in order to have material to create more Transformers, and Optimus is finally a creation from "higher forces" and who cares about the Cube... wait what ?), it's getting almost as confusing as the X-Men saga...

I love Bay, I watch all his stuff when I have a chance, even the partly laughable Pearl Harbor, but this one was really hard to go through... Some good stuff in it though like Marky Mark, Lockdown or the Dinobots... My fav' film & score remains the second one...

I wonder how composers feel when they're working on rubbish films like this. It must be hard to get inspired about a collection of casual sexism, racism, incoherent action, product placement, government propaganda and laughable dialogue. That said, some great scores have been written for terrible films.

I don't understand what happened to Bay, he used to make some entertaining films, but the last decade or so has been a disaster for him.

The Allspark creates the lifeforms from the transformium and these creators, which appear to be a mix of organic and cybertronian. They harvest transformium on Earth, 65 million years ago.
The Allspark then is lost (TF1), making the energon supply to run low.
After, the Fallen and the Primes take charge as governors, sort of, and set to find the energon, harvesting the suns. They create the Harvester thing, Fallen defeated, Primes dead.
No Primes, civil war begins on Cybertron. Sentinel leaves, war on Cybertron is lost, Megatron leaves in search for Sentinel and Cube (Could or could not know they were both "neighbors") Sentinel is lost, wanders through the stars until the 60's and moon-crashes, all Transformers leave in a hopeless search for the Cube.

TF1 begins, Megatron rises, in hopes of using the Harvester and then waking up Sentinel to rebuild Cybertron with a massive stock of new Energon, dies, returns, meets Fallen, they attack, they lose, Fallen's gone, Soundwave's backup plan is set in motion with Sentinel, TF3.

He dies, again. Chicago is ruins, humans wanna kill all bots, Creators find out of all the mess, send Lockdown, Galvatron rises, doesn't die, finally. And that's it. Not that difficul.

I do suggest you watch AOE again. It may sound weird but now that you know this and know waht you're going into in duration and this "mess" you talk about, you might enjoy it better. I enjoyed my third showing more than the first. Did feel the long thing at first. (First time I go to the bathroom during a film in years)

Did you see it 3D or 2D?

Dudu2014-07-20 02:45:50
Saw it too today!
The score in the movie is less disappointing than what we got on cd (many good cues that I didn't hear on any of the tracks...)
But....am I the only one who heard a BIG man of steel rip-off in the movie(the last part of look to the stars)????

Scorefan2014-07-20 03:33:38
WFT???? It's a great movie like the previous movies. Michael Bay is a master to create "Blockbusters". The score has many beautiful themes like the previous scores. Sorry Hybrid, but this time i am disagree with you.
P.D. I saw this film 3 times like the first 3 movies.

thejok3rrules2014-07-20 05:19:03
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought TF2 had a better score than the first one, even though it's not by much!

RealFfingMusic2014-07-20 06:48:01
Transformers (2007) had quite a few great themes, but most appeared only once in the film. None but "Arrival to Earth" and the Autobots theme were reused in ROTF.

ROTF had fewer good themes, but the overall score was better -- both in film and as stand-alone.

In DOTM, a remixed version of Arr2Earth a part of "Bumblebee" were reused, once each, along with two major themes -- Battle/Moon Mission and Shockwave/Driller. Both the score and the film sounded quite appealing to me, though not as much as 1 or 2.

This one ditched nearly all the themes from the first trilogy, and featured none of SJ's peak quality. And so, from a Michael Bay fan:-
-= AOE SUCKS!!!=-

And that, mi amigos, is my opinion.

Hybrid Soldier2014-07-20 10:05:00
Bumblebee from TF1, that theme was not written by Steve. No one is ever gonna make me believe that... :)

RealFfingMusic2014-07-20 12:16:58
The part in DOTM where Bumblebee killed Soundwave (also the DVD menu) sounded Jab-ish to me. My mistake.

@Hybrid, any idea who did it then?

Adam2014-07-20 18:09:58
@RealFfingMusic,

"Bumblebee", "Optimus", "Auotbots", and several other themes were all used more than once in TF1. IMO it'll always be the best Transformers score.

@Hybrid, it seems that for once you're in the know about who worked on TF1! I don't mean it to sound insulting, it's just that you always say that score is a mess and nobody knows anything about it. Can you please tell us who wrote Bumblebee?

badbu2014-07-20 19:51:01
thank you Hybrid Soldier!!!!
100% right!!! :)

MacArthur2014-07-21 19:14:49
The Film for me was the best by far. Mark Wahlberg, Is such a better actor than Shia lebeouf. The Score was great to I thought that it was Maybe equal with the 1st if not just underneath it.

badbu2014-07-22 08:05:00
Wahlberg is the worst actor ever...and the score is a poor copy of the other ones...

thejok3rrules2014-07-22 20:38:23
Mark Walhberg is a good actor. However, he doesn't have half the charisma Shia Labeouf has. But there's no reason to shit on Walhberg. He did a correct job on TF4, but his character was lame.

MrZimmerFan2014-07-22 21:31:12
Shia LaBeouf more charisma than Mark Walhberg?, God, please, i don't live in this planet anymore

thejok3rrules2014-07-22 21:41:49
Yes, I am one of the few who acually believe Shia LaBeouf is a brilliant actor.

Hybrid Soldier2014-07-22 22:31:48
Shia is actually a great actor...

A total waste of talent unfortunately...

As for Marky Mark, well I do like him ! :)

badbu2014-07-22 23:46:23
good vibrations! :D

thejok3rrules2014-07-22 23:48:52
It looks like we once again share a similar opinion... Great thing, dear friend.

Mortifer V.2014-07-23 00:35:24
I think Shia played pretty well in Nymphomaniac.

DA R T H reply Replies: 2 || 2014-07-10 21:11:54
there are more TF 1 2 3 themes on the complete score or all is on this one ?

Lejti2014-07-10 22:02:53
Almost all on this one. The Cybertron theme (a little piece of it) was in the movie, when Wahlberg find Optimus.

D A R T H2014-07-10 22:09:55

Lejti2014-07-10 11:09:02
The original interview has NO music, somebody (who uploaded this video) just putting some fanmade stuff to the pictures.

Lejti2014-07-10 11:25:50
You can find it on youtube: Age of Extinction - Truck (fanmade, not Jablonsky, whatever the description is says)

Here's a custom cover I made from the chinese international poster. Thought you chaps would enjoy it:

RealFfingMusic2014-07-08 09:04:00
Even a picture of BUMblebee's butt is better than the official one.

Everan2014-07-08 15:21:20
That was a response I did not expect, lol.

I think the original cover is decent, but It would've been better without Cade and the rest, so it was differente from the EP's.
Pr using the poster with Grimmy, idk. A completely new image like the ROTF cover woul've been much better.

Still, you have another cover now.

al bundy2014-07-08 15:50:55
No offense but the font you used on your covers looks bad

Everan2014-07-08 17:29:54
Well, if you happen to know another font that works better, tell me about it, I'd appreciate it. I can change the cover's font too, if you tell me which could work better for you.

And just ot ouf curiosity, why does it look bad?

Manulder2014-07-08 18:30:35
Hi, the adress doesn't works

theeaglesfan0052014-07-08 19:58:28
Manulder, remove the spaces

HZ doesn't allow links to be posted so you have to put some spaces in the link when you post it

Just watch your letter spacing in "MUSIC"...

Hale reply Replies: 15 || 2014-07-05 22:15:08
Not a so good score as I expected. Very percussive, electronica elements and strings ostinatos are too present!

Finally, best tracks come from EP album!
It's definitly not the best "Transformers"'score!
The first movie stayed the best (Arrival to Earth, Autobots, All Spark, Bumblebee, Scorpinok).

These tracks lack of identity! Themes aren't emotional as previous others.

Thanks to "Imagine Dragons" who brings to the movie a true identity. Great arrangements of the song by Steve through the score.

Ah!And the worst moment is that version of "Arrival to Earth" (The Legend Exists) which is brutally stopped when you waited a big and epic reprise!! Steve should arrange and extend the track for a better release on the album!

To resume,
Best tracks (in order): Hunted(from EP)/Leave Planet Earth Alone, Autobots Reunite (EP), Decision, Dinobots Charge (great progression of feelings), Honor To The End and for action : Cemetery Wind and Punch Hold Slide Reapeat (very cool track).

Tracks which should be good : The Legend Exists (if the track had'nt stop so quickly! ; Have Faith Prime (too short)
The Knight Ship (too constant); Theme for Galvatron (too "Man of Steel"esque! :D)

Score evaluation (OUT OF THE MOVIE because I don't see it yet) : 2/5

MrZimmerFan2014-07-05 22:28:04
@Hale: Do you expected something different from a Hans Zimmer's protege lol

The Legend Exists, the file is corrupted, and is broke.

MrZimmerFan2014-07-05 22:31:20
Also, i really like the Autobots' theme playing by piano in Have Faith Prime ;)

Hansy2014-07-05 22:45:14
People are expecting the score to be more like previous. I have heard people say it's not as big or bombastic, if you had seen and read Jablonsky's interviews about it you'll know that they took a more subtle approach than previous scores.

No, it's not the best of the four, and if I really wanted to be picky, I could comment on how the Dinobots theme & end of Cemetary Wind sound like TSFH "Freedom Fighters", but I do not care cause they're great nonetheless. Certain bits are a bit generic and typical Jablonsky but that's just his style (Ender's Game anyone?) which quite frankly I love, because few composers I think of can pull off what Jablonsky has done for Transformers.

Dark of the Moon sucked, but the score was badass.

Joe-El2014-07-05 23:10:48
"Certain bits are a bit generic and typical Jablonsky but that's just his style, which quite frankly I love."

There is just so much wrong with that comment. I am sure Jablonsky would be thrilled to hear such a back-handed compliment.

Hansy2014-07-05 23:26:56
It's not a bad thing, his style. But when you listen to some of his recent scores such as AoE or Enders Game, tracks like the end of Hunted, "Final Battle" from EG, you'll understand what I mean. I never meant it as a bad thing, as I love both

Don't be such a negative nancy....nancy

Hale2014-07-06 01:07:18
No file not corrupted its really a quick end.
I prefer transformers 1 not because the score is bombastic but because I still often listen the score even after 7 years. I dont think I could do that much with this one.
You really the approach is finest than the previous? Lol

MrZimmerFan2014-07-06 01:27:47
@Hale: The track is corrupted, i listened trough Spotify and is perfectly, in Itunes is broke

Lejti2014-07-06 11:00:12
MrZimmerFan: what the different between Spotify's and Itunes'? i watched the movie and it was the same thing, Optimus grab the sword and the music just stopped right there.

MrZimmerFan2014-07-06 11:56:33
In Spotify, the track is good, well arranged and isn't stop quickly(because i download that track in Itunes, and is broke, the theme stops and cracks) and that link for Youtube, is for that track, and sounds fine.

Marc2014-07-06 12:32:27
I bought the score off iTunes and there's nothing corrupted. Track 17 " The Legend Exists (1:16)" is ok and sounds good, have no problem with it.

theeaglesfan0052014-07-06 16:54:57
Exactly Marc, that's how the track is in the film... It's only a short scene.

Has no one seen the movie?!??

D A R T H2014-07-06 17:02:32
not a bat score, but 1,2,3 are better, because more "epic"...

JJLUFFY2014-07-07 10:27:37
This score is clearly the worst of the four films.
Too linear, not enough melodic and epic.
Steve jablonsky in automatic mode.
Where is the inspiration?

T-Mann0362014-07-07 15:56:12
Haters wanna hate. I truly enjoy both the original soundtrack and the EP.

Brent2014-07-07 18:38:18
I actually really enjoy the different approach to this score. Sure, is it as thematic as the others? Perhaps not. That does not mean it's not enjoyable. It's just different. In fact, I'd take this score over ROTF any day.

Maybe it's just because I'm a percussionist at heart, but I love this score. If for one thing, the man does know how to write rhythm like nobody's business.
