I have to admit now that despite AoE being the worst of the 4, The music is the best of the 4 lol (overall).
In terms of music my ranking is (still haven't heard everything from 4 so it could change)
4 1 3 2
And in terms of the movies:
3 1 2/4 are tied for the last in my opinion.

For me...
Scores/Movies: 4 3 1 2
Although, I really love "Tomb of the Primes" from 2 and Prime's theme and how it was used in the beginning of 3
thejok3rrules
2014-07-01 03:09:15
As rankings go... Scores:1- Revenge of the Fallen (9/10) 2-Transformers (9/10) 3-Dark of the Moon (7/10)
As for the movies, I loved the first trilogy (Though ROTF and DOTM were not good as movies). I liked the first hour of AOE, but overall, I think it's the worst film Michael Bay has done since Bad Boys 2. Movies:1- Transformers (8/10) 2- Dark of the Moon (5/10) 3- Revenge of the Fallen (5/10) 4- Age of Extinction (3/10)

That's a tough one and I feel that people's decisions aren't true because it's that new music phase, eventually it will wear off on ya. This is definitely a great score, different from the previous three, but to say it's the best one Idk. The Battle theme from Dark of the Moon is one of my favorite themes from all four films. Then there is the Fallens arrival music from RotF which wasn't on the initial score release. I think Steve learned from the previous releases to release more music cause I think this contains pretty much all the music or main themes
MrZimmerFan
2014-07-04 22:46:23
I think the problem with Revenge of the Fallen is... the few highlights in comparation from the first Transformers, in the other side, Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction have a lot of highlights (Battle, Sentinel Prime, Decision, Dinobot Charge, Your Creators Want You Back or It's Our Fight, thats is an epic action theme), but still enjoyed Revenge of the Fallen.
Intel
2014-07-05 02:06:31
I dont think the music of 4 is the best overall. AT ALL.
There's probably a couple of decent themes, most of which is Battle Cry and the new Autobot theme, but outside of that, this score is VERY minimalistic compared to the others, IMO.
The percussion, for example doesn't actually kick in until the final battle cues. This score seems very muted compared to the last ones. I mean I'll dare say it but I'm listening to the Battleship OST more than this one...Jablonsky must have changed his sound style to be more eclectic or something, because it's just not the same as before...Maybe he's tired of scoring Transformers?
Otherwise great collaborative effort with Imagine Dragons.

Seriously, I can't believe all the bad reviews this 4th film is getting. For me, it kept all the qualities and strong points of the previous movies, and managed to get rid of some of their flaws. So for me it was by far the best out of the 4 movies.
thejok3rrules
2014-07-05 06:53:03
Ds, there's sometging you must have missed... AoE had a good first part, but after an hour and a half, the movie gets ridiculous, long and boring. I respect your opinion, I do. But I sincerely believe the first trilogy was better. And Shia Labeouf was more convincing in his role than Mark Walhberg is.
Intel
2014-07-05 07:19:49
Well the way the new transformers transformed just looked completely silly, And if they can turn to dust then why did they let thrmselves get killed at the end? I didnt like that sfx either it just looked off putting.
Ds
2014-07-05 13:06:29
thejok3rrules, I don't think I've missed anything, I was paying attention the whole time and never did I get bored, I enjoyed the hell out of it, from start to finish. I think this movie was very much representative of who Michael Bay is as a director, it has all his trademarks pushed at 200%. That's why a lot of people are hating this movie; that's why I'm digging it and cannot wait to see it again :-)
As for the music, I'm listening to Steve's score and I think it's unbelievably good. It's much softer than the previous ones, with a lot of atmospheric cues. I'm sure that's one soundtrack I'm not going to forget soon.

2014-07-05 13:12:15
I agreed with Ds, the movie is much better than Dark of the Moon (i liked, but AOE is much better in every aspect) and Revenge of the Fallen, which is more awful than DOTM and AOE, as for the score, TF 1 and DOTM, as for me, there is better than AOE, but i defiently enjoyed the score by Steve.
from the EP "autobots reunite" seem to be an additional track, the 3 others are demos...

What's funny is that the Trailer 2 music is the scene when Optimus recruits the Dinobots. So you have that little score bit as well, out there, FYI.

Intel: you are wrong, that was Lockdown's theme in the trailer you can hear that in the movie when Lockdown taken Optimus and the car within the girl.
Prott

Yeah, it is a theme for Lockdown. It sounds great in the movie... maybe a little bit similar to the "Baratheon theme" from GoT, but still great! :)

I dont care who's theme it is at the moment until it's listed on a tracklist.
That second half IS played when he bitch slaps Grimlock. That piece has more to it as he says "Roll Out!" and Hound is kicking ass, but that portion IS played at that time.
Maybe I'm referring to the wrong trailer? Someone on Youtube took out the SFX if you wanna look for it.
I say again: Watch the movie again. Everybody on here knows you like re-watching the flick about a hundred times, anyway....lol

I'm so confused right now. What's in the trailer and what's not? Trailer 1 starts in Cade's farm Trailer 2 with the transformium thing with Stanley's character.
Which one has Steve's work in it? FYI, saw the Dinobots scene in a bootleg crap video, and the music was indeed entirely new, from what I could hear.

No because HERE we talk about a separate official release...

Ds
2014-06-28 23:14:49
Mid-July is too late, there is no point in releasing an album so late after the movie. Many people get back from the movie, were amazed by the movie, and download the music immediately on iTunes or Amazon. If it's not available, most of them will just forget about it...

Hybrid Soldier

Depends...
With companies devoted to that like Marcussen Mastering, Bernie Grundman Mastering and the others, I'd say a few days ?
But then when the mastering's done, first of all they better check it, and they probably have to have all the paperwork done perfectly...

Saw it last night @ Eve. I agree, the old autonot theme is so memorable but the new carries the same majesty of it. The tune that plays when optimus and grimlock throw down was so damn gorgeous Its not what you expect to hear when two giant robots are fighting. Dug the counter scoring here.

2014-06-28 00:49:50
Just saw the movie, and I'd say that for the first half of the movie, the score is almost only sound design with occasional BRAAAMMM, but in the second part it gets much more musical and epic. The Dinobots cue was beyond amazing, lengthy, majestic and audible from start to finish.
The incorporation of Battle Cry was amazing, too. I couldn't believe my ears, it was incredibly well used, adding a quasi-melodramatic layer to some scenes. I really hope all of these cues make it on the OST.
Apart from that, the movie was everything you could hope from a TF movie, and even more. Bay's visual style is better than ever, all the scenes are extremely well shot, and you get a bunch of huge, huge action pieces. This is what I call a generous action movie.
SJ's score was great... the dinobots theme was beyond amazing.
And we technically have a score track... "Battle Cry".. it was used heavily two times during the movie
Ds
2014-06-27 14:38:05
Exciting! I'm curious, does it sound more like TF1 or TF3? I mean, more thematic or more in the sound design territory?

Ds: There is a new Autobot theme, but you can hear once the original one from the trilogy. I think this one is more likely TF3, than TF1. Lockdown has a great theme, that was used in trailer 2 of the movie.
