Really liked this score, and the movie wasn't as bad as people claim as well... Benjamin Wallfisch does some very nice stuff, his horror scores are always on point like It 1 & 2, Annabelle: Creation, A Cure for Wellness...

I know he's gonna deliver it with Mortal Kombat even if the movie isn't that good. But kind of a bummer that his next scheduled project comes out in 2021 LOL'Cause maybe the expected all the cues from the sessionsI like this music! The #balfeness !!!! Has outdone himself on Bad Boys for Life.
A nod to the last but brought it up to date.
This and 6 Underground has blown me away with Balfe’s musici can't understand, when someone is saying "it REMINDS of mw2" when those mentioned cues are completely re-used 1:1. it's identical, sometimes layered with mancinas themes. it doesn't just remind you of mw2 when lorne seriously uses the identical tracks or parts from mw2 -_-

@bayhem: then listen to it. i'm not a fan of lorne, but his work there is real fun and some real good action cues. with the themes of Zimmer, it's crazy that it's just a game. one of or maybe THE best work of lorne!
Colleague of mine (a film score fan too) asked me which new Balfe score is better in my opinion - Bad Boys for Life or 6 Underground?

Honestly - and as much as I praised BB3 - I couldn't decide......

Both movies have a lot of songs, which is something I don't like. Look at Transformers. There are songs too but they don't overshadow the score. The score is still the star and that's why people flood Steve's Twitter with praise. Day after day.

But sadly for Lorne, his recent work in film WAS indeed overshadowed by the random songs. If they didn't rely on songs so much, I'm sure that 6 Underground would've been the crown jewel for Lorne. It's a big, big movie that begs for equally big and memorable score (though we can't really expect Transformners-syze score).

At the end of the day, Lorne did good on 6 Underground but it was just a small sign of what COULD have been.....Some of the action bits, yeah......This right here is my single biggest issue with Balfe as a composer. And with the recording sessions clips he posts it is truly a mystery. Tinfoil hat on I'd say he skimps on the budget and hires those musicians just for a couple hours to shoot those clips for PR and the actual score is all synth but that's a baseless claim of course lol...
....................

It's bigger than that.....

After all, this is a Bruckheimer production. His movies established Hans and the entire MV/RC sound. His movies are known for their awesome scores. Scores that are populrar with the ordinary viewers as well. But 2008 onward, things changed.....Back in the 90's and early 2000's every single Bruckheimer film had a spectacular score. Powerful, melodic themes, cues that stayed with you, scores that attracted the attention of the average Joe.

Nowadays tho, we don't have that. Hell, when was the last time a (newer) action score from MV/RC-related composer was praised the way 'The Rock' was praised?

Lorne's Mission Impossible? No. Not even close.

Personally, I like what Lorne did with BB3, especially with the emotional cues. But put it next to Mancina's work. I mean it's not even a contest. The Mancina score is one memorable, melodic track after another. There's not a single boring track. Every track is a banger.

But the newer scores? They have two or three tracks that are good and everything else is.......utterly forgettable.

I blame it on the lack of themes. Orchestra or not, more scores need to have actual themes. Some cues sound like Speed 2Guess I'm the only person around here who hasn't listened to the Modern Warfare 2 score. So I can't really have an opinion on this matter..... lol

Just listen to the track « Arena battle » and let me knowThe clips are on his Facebook page.2/5 stars? Why are people hating on this?Me too
Excited!!!God’s gun theme reminds me of part of “River Mission” from Battlefield 2: Modern Combat OST. I think Lorne was an additional composer on that score aswell (excellent OST btw)God’s gun theme reminds me of part of “River Mission” from Battlefield 2: Modern Combat OST. I think Lorne was an additional composer on that score aswell (excellent OST btw)"It's good shit lieutenant" The principle is based on Thomas Newman's Bond. "Take back what's ours" and "the truth" is Ad astrahonnestly, I do get why people refer to MW2, but to be honest, it's not the same. With the amount of time I heard that score, I can say that it uses the same drums, and a pattern that is quite similar to the one used in MW2, but it is not a copy/paste. It's no different to me than Junkie XL re-using the same pattern of drum in all of his recent scores since Mad Max. When it comes from the same composer, I guess it's normal to have works that parts that similar from a score to another. Just think of John Murphy who re-use his powerful theme from Sunshine in a lot of his scores (28 weeks later, kick-ass, etc).

Actually I'm quite glad he re-used the themes from Mancina as that was, to me at least, a big miss for BB2 even though Rabin and Jablonsky did a great job. It's like doing a James Bond movie without the Bond theme. It might be good, but it miss the little something that gel everything together. ;) I really like what Lorne did on this one. Even though he re-used the theme, he made them his own, in a similar way he did with MI Fallout, while sometime paying homage to the original ones. ;) My 2 cents.

LOCKDOWN'S THEME IS JUST OMG SO GUD!!! OMG!
I have a bit of a love hate relationship with the autobots new theme but I like it but I still like the old one way better.
I also swear that they used some of Dark of the Moons score in one of the fight scenes...anyone else catch that?
I hope that in the release they have the battle cry drums as a part of the score like they used in the movie.
Movie was shite gotta admit, but I hope they focus on Prime in 5. Seriously, Fix your damn mistake Bay.
I FKING LOVE U STEVE JABBY!

k I'm done with my rant.

People, if you haven't heard the score, please refrain from voting.

If you have, refrain all the same till the official release.

And here we go...

Zimson2014-06-24 09:12:51
Yay! Are we gonna get to know the credits (especially Hans' part)?
Btw, I'm reading this in the Joker's voice every time. ;)

Hybrid Soldier2014-06-24 09:50:21
HZ ? Some help on the songs, not much...

Wis2014-06-24 16:12:01
When does this come out? Isn't it supposed to be today?

Everan2014-06-24 16:25:24
No date yet, but it will most likely appear this thursday or friday.
And yes, Hans only helped in Battle Cry, he's in a featurette working with Imagine Dragons and Steve.

theeaglesfan0052014-06-24 18:21:14
@Wis, I'm guessing and hoping Friday like DotM was released

Adam2014-06-24 18:27:20
Guys, I really wouldn't count on it coming out this week. Steve said last night on his new fb page that he has no idea but that it was in development or something. So I'm thinking it's not even out together yet. Don't be disappointed when it's not out on Friday

Drunkenmunkey2014-06-24 18:38:02
Told you you would hybrid :P

Intel2014-06-24 18:42:55
Uhm...

Didn't Steve ALSO say he wasn't even sure if the music was even finished?

Wasn't the premier of the film this last week?

That leads to believe that Jablosnky said this before the film was finished, because why world premier the film if it isn't even finished yet? (unless he's referring to the soundtrack itself)

Hybrid Soldier2014-06-24 18:47:13
No people don't start mixing everything with "half information"... Adam is 100% right...

RealFfingMusic2014-06-24 19:02:05
People ranting on and on, yet no useful info. Reminds me of Lion King CS. At least this is brand new.

Guys, please trash the DOTM page till it really comes out!

Intel2014-06-25 06:32:13
Smells like 2011 all over again....

Ah the memories...

Looking forward to the original soundtrack. And DAMN! I didn't know Hans is involved in Steve's fourth soundtrack?! First, "Revenge of the Fallen" (alongside Lorne Balfe)... now this?! Anyhow, I truly want this soundtrack score.

Everan2014-06-24 21:23:11
Sorry, but Hans isn't in it. He helped writing Battle Cry, but that's it.

Hybrid Soldier2014-06-24 22:28:25
You seem very sure...

If you knew all Hans did and people have no idea about... ;)

But yeah, he didn't do that much here I think, just some jamming between two Interstellar cues !! ;)

Everan2014-06-24 22:59:20
Ok, Hans did a bit more than Battle Cry, lol.
Man, Interstellar is so far away.
