If you enjoyed Sonic then you’ll probably enjoy this, even though it is far more hyperactive. The score is such a crazy mashup of Carl Stalling/epic orchestral/60’s funk/industrial trap beats/electronic/etc.

I have to say, while the themes aren’t particularly memorable, the last 5 cues or so feature some great choral writing with good use of some ethnic wind instruments (Duduk?)...I have a question about a song from this documentary that is not on the soundtrack. Could anyone please tell me the track at approximately 47:35? Thunder is cracking, Pantani begins his attack on the Galibier, and Matt Rendell is there with eloquent narration. I got so swept up in the score at this point that I spent over an hour rewinding and Shazaming and looking up all of Balfe, Aruj, and Dworetsky's music I cound fine. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thaks,
SamThey all sound the same. Bland. So what do you think about the westworld competition and what is your most favorite entry? In sound quality (regardless of what certain peope might say about how great LPs sound; it's an analog format) the bootleg already trumps it I guess...
I have the same question as wellIt could be possible, but there would be too many seconds of overlap between some of these tracks for that to be a possibility in this specific case. I really hope they haven't cut down the tracks to fit on vinyl, otherwise the bootleg will trump it in terms of content.Maybe the different time lengths is due to tracks slightly overlapping each other (as in many HZ soundtrack releases)?Comparing the track times listed here, it seems (at first glance) that many of the tracks are edited down from the complete cues as heard on the bootleg. Could the listed track times be simply incorrect, or have edits been made to make the score fit onto four sides? I guess we can find out when the record ships in July.

Additionally, for those without a record player it sucks that a CD release was not possible for La-La Land. Whatever the reasons are for that, it's a bizarre situation that one independent label can release the same material on vinyl but another cannot on CD. Quite perplexing...@Hybrid, will you make the Scoob Page?
Perhaps "The Cistern (Alternate)" is the album version. The music I heard in the film is not 100% the same with the track I heard in the OST.Dang I cant wait to hear the Alternate 'Cistern' cueVinyl only...How dumb can you getLol, you’re right! I though that was Rambo III climbing the cliffs for a moment.LLL made MI 1 Complete. So they are trying to make MI 2 Complete. That could move Varese to make MI 3 Complete. But studio (Disney) don't want it.
Use the Wayback Machine on Archive.org - it's all there! :)@Zimson
404 not found dudeWhy would a studio allow a vinyl release but no CD or digital release? That's utter nonsense. Almost like they're refusing to make money.Any clue on where to find this Complete Score?.. and people wonder why there's "bootlegs" out there...

While I’m not crazy about the film, I’m surprised no one really talks about this score. Both Zimmer and Phipp’s sections are equally strong, with the Zimmer parts being so much darker in tone.

“Fleeing Vienna” is such an intense cue, especially in context.

Mike2018-08-28 03:21:14
I'm curious about the "Open the Door" cue... Did Hans and Martin Phipps work together on it, or did one of them have a cue partly written and the other guy came in and added to it?

Also, Hybrid, you have the "Maria Altman" track credited to HZ and Martin Phipps on your Youtube channel. It's just Phipps here. Which credit is correct?

If interested, here's my cut out film version of 'Fleeing Vienna'

"Maria Altman" is Phipps... I uploaded that long before the score was out. Never changed the title, but it's Phipps.

Hans really just wanted to score all the "flashback" sequences.

This release is rather complete right? There’s nothing missing from
Hans from what I can see.

I have seen the movie and the score works very well. I also figured out how the two composers approached this. The movie primarily plays in 1999, but it has flashbacks to the time of WW2. Phipps primarily composed the music for 1999 and Hans did the music for the WW2 period scenes. Hans stands for the darker cues.

Hybrid Soldier2015-08-08 15:03:16
Absolutely ! I noticed that as well ! :)

garavel2015-08-08 18:08:38
what is that WW2 ?

Mike2015-08-08 18:12:30
"World War 2"

funny that hans's part is the weakest part of the score

Anonymous2015-07-01 04:12:13
Incorrect. And if you don't hear his influence in Track #5, you are really missing something.

Has anyone listened to this yet?

I just finished the album and honestly, it's a strange one. Have to relisten to make a final opinion.

Ds2015-05-31 14:31:02
Listened to it yesterday, didn't really like it. It sounds like a minor work from Hans. It's not bad but not the kind of soundtrack I like to listen out of context. And overall I think Phipps' tracks are better than Hans'.

...2015-05-31 14:38:35
Maria Altman and Fleeing Vienna are the best cues on the album in my opinion.

Anonymous2015-06-01 04:18:58
OMG Ds!!! How dare you say you don't like a Hans Zimmer soundtrck on this website. Don't you realize the amount of Zimmer worshiping drone-trolls that frequent this site? Prepare to be tortured, persecuted and kicked in the gut (figuratively of course). That's what happened to me when I dared to say I didn't care for Interstellar. Just saying.

Edmund Meinerts2015-06-01 08:56:01
Oh my good God, Anonymous, let that go already.

Ds2015-06-01 18:22:09
Anonymous, actually I felt a bit ashamed of writing that. It's the first time in my life I don't feel anything when listening to a Zimmer score. Usually I'm moved or entertained or blown away, but here I felt nothing. I'll go see a doctor ;-)

...2015-06-01 21:11:30
Hybrid, do you know if zimmer helped write the maria altman track? I saw on some website that he was credited for that track but I must say I doubt it as most sites say he didn't.

Why is it so simple? But still enjoyable. Maybe because I love his music.

Mike2015-05-17 19:14:20
I assume these credits are not complete just yet, but are instead simply breaking down which one worked on each track?

Anonymous reply Replies: 1 || 2015-05-06 15:36:08
So where did this collaboration come from? Are Zimmer and Phipps friends, did the director think, "Gee, we really want Hans' style for *insert scenes here*," or was Zimmer originally attached to this project and then he wanted Phipps to come on board? Or did Phipps request Zimmer?

It just seems out of the ordinary. :P

Hybrid Soldier2015-05-06 15:44:08
The film was produced in the UK, they needed a London based composer to work with. Phipps had worked for those producers before.

Both composers came in pretty late to score it, after october (score recorded in January), and Hans was in the middle of Chappie (and in LA for the most part).

I like it. Hybrid, you said this wasn't a "normal" collaboration or something like that...what did you mean?

Anonymous2015-04-25 19:18:44
which composer is this by? or both? I love it!
