No complete score entry on this site for this score? I've edited my own from the sessions leak after careful listening to the film channels to figure out what goes together. I really like it. Some people say it's not good but I feel it captures some of the synthetic qualities of Brad Fiedel's work quite well. And I love the use of the Stormdrum 3 Dragon Ensemble instruments throughout.
Anyway, here's my playlist for it:
CD 1:
01 Better Days/Meet John Connor 02 Work Camp Speech 03 Terminator Arrives 04 I Volunteer 05 Reese Goes Back/Reese Arrives 06 Griffith Park 07 Alley Confrontation-Meet Sarah Connor 08 Meet Pops/Flashback 2 09 T-1000 On The Prowl/Old Not Obsolete 10 Stil After Us 11 1997 or 2017/Alcove 12 Sarah And Reese Into TDD 13 Sarah And Reese Drop In 14 Sarah's Story 15 Hospital Room/Time Travelers 16 John Shows Up/Guardian Shows Up 17 It's Really Me/Family/Pops Shoots 18 I Am More/Hospital Fight 19 Cyberdyne 20 Memories
CD 2:
01 Hatching The Plan 02 If You Love Me You Die 03 Bus Ride/Guardian On The Movie/Golden Gate 04 Interrogation 05 Helicopter Chase 06 Cyberdyne Lobby 07 Come With Me (PT1-PT2)/Fight/Sacrifice 08 What If I Can't 09 End Title/System Online 10 Fate And Hope 11 Sarah And Kyle 12 Sarah Kicks Ass 13 John Connor 14 Guardianship

Jesus Christ, HZ put me in charge of this. Luckily the director is a wanker who has no idea over music.
Okay, Fiedel. What Brad? Who is Brad? Anyways, I will do that thumping thing a few times and use my paper synths to cover it.
Here we go. I have no themes, exactly as they wanted.
Yeah, the CD's showing up on Amazon UK. Damn, £30... Shove it, I'm buying it!

Looking back down the page, it looks like Guest got their wish. Anyway, here's a new chrono order:
-Better Days -Work Camp -I Volunteer -Reese Going Back -Griffith Park -Confrontation (We are missing parts of this cue) -Sarah Kicks Ass (The film uses a different mix) -T-1000 on the Prowl -It's Really Me -Still After Us -1997 or 2017 -Alcove -Family -Last 1:10 of I Am More (missing the start of this cue up to the 2029 flashback) -Hospital Fight -Cyberdyne -Memories -If You Love Me You Die -Bus Ride -Golden Gate -Judgment Day (I renamed this to "Helicopter Chase") -Come With Me -Fight (we are missing a small part of this cue where Genisys says "What was it you said? 'I don't think so'." -Sacrifice -What If I Can't? (we are missing the small piece when Pops uses his newfound T-1000 powers to force the bunker door) -End Titles -System Online -Fighting Shadows (this was released as a single)
Then you'd have the suites: -Fate And Hope -Sarah And Kyle -John Connor -Guardianship

Actually, I got a bit wrong there. It's Really Me goes before "Family".
I miss one epic long track, at the beginning. the moment when john came from the top and grab kyle's hand. its start with a synthy... fades to the private speak with J & K before he goes up to the big speach... and the final takedown ambush / work camp speach.
i miss exactly these tracks so hard =c
cant find it on the official and unreleased. any reason?

What did you expect? Somebody to magically pop up and provide you with what you are looking for? It doesn't work like that. We're lucky Lorne Balfe even put the unreleased stuff on his website. Composers usually put tracks up as examples of their work but the majority of the time it's usually samples of officially-released tracks anyway.
Maggo
2015-09-11 12:11:44
Yes! =j Hope somebody hear my cry and put the missing track on the unreleased list on lorne's page^^ Sure its naive, but i have seen when composer do some fan-service. awesome move!
ive wondering nobody missed the track too, sorry to be individual. (and sorry for the bad english)

You got nine extra tracks adding twenty more minutes to the CD. This is about the most 'fan service' as is going to happen unless the sessions leak out.

i dont get it why you are so harsh to me? (or do i misread something) is it a dumb request? a childish question?

dont get it, but thanks for your time.

2015-09-11 23:46:25
It's not a dumb question, and believe me when I say I think we've all been there. It's just a little, I don't know, naive to expect anything to actually happen based on a post on a fan site.
I'm still waiting for a clean version of the Main Titles (film version) from X-Men 3, for instance... :p
ggctuk
2015-09-12 09:35:24
I'm not being harsh. I'm telling it as it is. Of course there are cues I'd love to have - one of my biggest wants, which is not RCP-related, is the score to Digimon: The Movie. I have only half of what was scored for that movie and am aching for some of the moments I remember best. I've done my best to try and get those moments for myself but while I haven't had much luck, going from 0 minutes of score (the OST only included the songs) to 30 minutes of score, not including two tracks posted by Udi Harpaz that are essentially 'concert-style recordings' 9which would bring it up to 37 minutes). I was also lucky to have some of the other music Udi Harpaz composed for Masked Rider and the 1990s Spider-Man before he uploaded those to his SoundCloud account.
If you want this track so bad, why don't you ask Lorne Balfe himself if he'd be willing to share it with you? Most younger composers have Facebook these days so it shouldn't be hard to find him.
If someone's interested in the staff I added the booklet credits... Booklet that doesn't really actually exist... yet... lol
Dudu
2015-07-09 10:57:33
Thanks! I have a question about Dieter Hartmann...is he a RCP guy? I saw he did a lot of additional music for Lorne, but then when watching the end credits for guardians of the galaxy, I saw his name...and then realized he does additional a lot for Tyler Bates too. Existential questions...lol

So where is the physical release of said soundtrack?

Yeah Russel I don't think so this is not going to cd, the movie has been out for a month and a bit now and still no physical cd has come of exsistance and not only that some one asked Lorne if there is a cd version and replied yes in 3 weeks, well we are coming up past the 4 week mark from when he said that.
So unless you can magically just make it happen I stand by the fact I believe this is not going to be a physical album because this guys stuff barely if ever gets to a physical cd.
Russel
2015-08-08 01:37:33
It will release I'm pretty sure.
Guest
2015-08-11 21:54:54
Yeah russel I highly doubt that because physical soundtrack albums and soundtrack albums in general typically release one of 2 ways.
1. Soundtrack album gets released ahead of the films release Or 2. Soundtrack albums get digital release like this did then a physical album follows a week or two after.
And like I said we are past the 4 week mark from whence Lorne said a cd was coming and again go look yourself buddy there is no physical album in exsistance so yeah I don't think we're getting one unless a label like LaLaLand records gives us one.
I was happy they released age of extinction on cd but pissed off they made it a LE when they didn't add anything noteworthy to the release to justify a LE just took the digital iTunes released and plopped it onto cd, I'd hate for them or some label to do the same with this if they did.
Hybrid Soldier
2015-08-11 22:13:53
Lorne signed about 80 physical copies like 2 weeks ago...
But I doubt there'll be a general release... Maybe it'll just end up being promotional limited items...
Guest
2015-08-11 22:36:40
And that's exactly the type of shit I just explained could possibly happen and if it did I'd be pissed just like I was for AOE see this is the problem I have with the digital age bullshit we have to fight and beg for physical releases and we shouldn't and i know we still get physical albums for most things but a lot of the time it's also just some digital bullshit till we beg and demand physical copies/releases.
But I read up on that hybrid about him signing some copies but he only did a few though for giveaways for some shit and I doubt I highly doubt it was 80 like you said maybe 15-20 if that.
My point is there is no physical release for general public when there should be and it may end up been another AOE and I don't want that again unless we get something noteworthy should a label release it and call it a stupid LE.

Look, first, you calm down.
I'm tired of you, it's been a while.
Don't come here tell me I give wrong information. I give what I can. Even Lorne didn't know about a general release.
And honestly ? If the physical doesn't come out because Paramount doesn't give a shit, then that's just too fucking bad ! That's life ! Life is unfair !
And I'm personally perfectly fine with digital, but that's just me... lol

1. Don't tell me to calm down when I am perfectly fine thank you very much I dunno how you can assume I'm angry or even yelling like you could know anyways but I'm perfectly at ease.
2. I never said you're information was wrong I just said what you said was a little off cause I told you I read up on the thing with him signing stuff and that your number 80 was doubtful highly doubtful especially given it was to do with a damn giveaway.
3. You're probably right that paramount don't give a shit they didn't give a shit for ninja turtles last year so it's no shock if they don't give a shit now for terminator.
4. Then you're part of the problem then when it comes to digital products and digital only.
I dunno if you're a gamer or play games but you sound like one of those idiots that would have been okay with when Microsoft announced their XBONE online only crap, but because of the outcry from everyone and demands they turned that around and did a 180.
P.S If you can't reply or respond when I asked you 2 weeks or so ago about your information regards to physical release why you thinks it's ok to open and say silly stuff now?

You're the one I seen people make fun of you cause of you're high and mighty horse and seems think you actually spend quality time and full conversations with these composers like you're one yourself, so I'm not overly supprised by your attitude and responses.
Copy and pasting the label that released this doesn't make you smart either or telling me to contact them as if I'd get anywhere with that you asshat.
Don't bother responding back because I'm done talking to you just as much if not more than you are with me.

Well, it's a pity if they don't release it on CD since I'm not willing to pay for a digital only release. @steve if you're making that accusation based on me using curse words than you are a stooge.
@RealFfingMusic I like that anology because that's basically what transpired I'm not gonna deny that.
@Zimson I'm not bothering with them cause I know I'll get no where hence ignoring it.
@keky yes I understand that I got that assumption as well but I did some researching myself and nothing exsists of a physical release outside some stuff Lorne signed himself for some giveaway, I sorta get why I see people mocking and making fun of Hybrid because he runs around all over the forum announcing and giving information that actually isn't always concrete information. And he acts like he some freaking soundtrack deity just go look at his response as to why he never responded to my question initially from a couple weeks ago.
I also do not buy digital because I'm for the physical releases only, there is no value what so ever in digital and digital only products.
Steve
2015-08-12 22:36:37
Actually, I was thinking of the entitled attitude of your very first posting, before you even started using curse words. Let's summarise your posts:
#1 Entitled #2 Slightly aggressive with it. #3 sarcastic #4 is probably the most calm post you have made #5 Getting angry #6 Very angry and aggressive #7 Still very angry and aggressive, starting to hurl insults #8 hurling insults but the aggression seems to have toned down a little
I can understand you don't like digital releases. Really, I do. Posting on what is essentially a fan site raging about why there isn't one is acceptable, but you seem to be holding this site personally responsible for there not being a release. Or at least, that's how you are coming across. If you don't like it, Hybrid did suggest one avenue which you rejected. Another would be to contact Lorne Balfe himself. I believe he has Facebook.
Guest
2015-08-13 17:56:55
@steve
Okay Steve let me start by saying I originally asked my question because hybrid had responded to someone else's question about a physical release if there was any to start with and frankly he came out saying there should be in a few weeks from when he posted he the. Went on to say he was going to give information and let everybody know the details of if and when available.
He never came out with any information what so ever after the fact and that's when I came in with my question and he never answered, then I asked again and once again never answered, someone else had come and told me simply you'll be supprised when really I wasn't and I'm still not supprised.
Not only did he finally come out of his cave he had a attitude right from the get go and actually escalated himself from the very beginning, in one post he even said why he didn't answer my questions initially if anyone is the entitled one from the whole thing it's him.
Like I said I sorta get why when I come on the site and I see people mocking and making fun of hybrid it's because of stuff like what happened in the posts and he acts like he some deity and spends quality time with the composers and labels like he is one himself.
Second I know this is a fan site and not actually run or owned by some entity that doesn't change the fact that he seems to think to be the know all be all, the guy even tried to argue with me about Lorne signing just a handful of things for a giveaway and tried to argue me otherwise.
The hybrid person weather male or female is a jackass.
I have contacted Lorne myself that's why they argued me I starting getting angry cause he thinks he knows better. I can tell you right now there will not be any physical release of this title unless a label like lalaland records or intrada come along and release it cause clearly at this point paramount don't give two shits to give us a physical release, and like I said to @keky there is no value what so ever in digital and digital only products.
I don't normally get riled up in the way hybrid had me get to in some of those posts and in fact up till this point I never even posted anything before.

@Russel yeah I know I tried telling you it wasn't going to get one even though I wanted one and still do :) but it not gonna happen unless one of those labels comes along and releases it to us and don't be sorry it's all good, just so you know hybrid escalated it but whatever it doesn't matter because I'm not going to listen to anything or pay attention to the jackass again.
@ggctuk Yes, yes it did there no denying that but it did because of hybrid and yes you are right we should enjoy all music no matter the form but I will not support anything that's digital and digital only no matter how much I love the composers or music if there is not a physical product, there is no value in digital products none what so ever.
So, I've seen the movie, and I liked it. And there were some good music moments in the movie that, typically, don't appear on this soundtrack. However, I'm struggling to remember a chronological order for this soundtrack.
ggctuk
2015-07-11 11:18:18
So, figuring out a chronological order after seeing the film a second time. Could use some help, but here's what I got so far:
Better Days John Connor Work Camp Fate And Hope --You can insert Griffith Park here. Alley Confrontation Come With Me Sarah Kicks Ass Sarah & Kyle It's Really Me Alcove I Am More Cyberdyne If You Love Me You Die Judgement Day Bus Ride Family Still After Us Fight Sacrifice Guardianship What If I Can't? Terminated
Feel free to chip in and correct me on this order, but I think for the most part this is correct.
ggctuk
2015-07-11 12:25:39
I got "Judgement Day" and "Bus Ride" the wrong way round - IIRC, "Judgement Day" scores the helicopter chase. So it should come after "Bus Ride" not before it.
Hybrid Soldier
2015-07-11 12:37:34
The chronological order is :
Better Days Work Camp Speech (Griffith Park) Alley Confrontation Sarah Kicks Ass Still After Us Alcove Family It's Really Me I Am More Cyberdyne If You Love Me You Die Bus Ride Helicopter Chase Come With Me Fight Sacrifice What If I Can't Terminated
Suites : Fate & Hope Sarah & Kyle John Connor Guardianship

It's not in this release, but it's basically just a slight arrangement of the Fate & Hope suite !
Lorne's Terminator isn't a bad listening experience, not by a longshot. It's a work of a professional and has a lot going for it in many cues. But... it's also mostly generic as all hell. It could basically belong to any action-oriented movie of the past 15 years. I'll surely listen to it some more, but after 2 and a half listening sessions I can say that "Beyond: Two Souls" stays unconquered.

The problem is with this score, it sounds like it belongs more so in a Transformers film than in a Terminator one.
It's not terrible by any means but it's far from the amazing listening experience it should have been. And is terribly generic (although I doubt the film is any good to begin with). The best parts are Balfe quoting Fiedel obviously
ggctuk
2015-07-01 15:41:38
I have to agree. When I listened to the Jurassic World soundtrack, I had to listen to it twice before the new themes could sink in. Here, I've listened to it five times since and I haven't taken a single note to memory that hasn't already been used previously. This score is just too generic. There's nothing that stands out at all, aside from pieces that are direct quotations of Brad Fiedel's work (the first section of "Griffith Park", or the whole of "Terminated").
THis is going to sound rather strange, but I don't think it's helped by the fact that the score isn't synthetic enough. T3's score wasn't synthetic at all. Elfman was on the right tracks, while Balfe's score is on a different track, but headed in the same direction. It's just not there.
I'm hoping that when the sessions leak, the listening experience will improve.
Meta
2015-07-03 14:12:06
Alas, you are correct...
Since T3 all the scores have gone symphonic...Sure, there's percussion and some nifty SFX to go with the music, but as a whole it just doesn't fit and turns the movie into an action adventure. Beltrami and Elfman made good themes, but they just missed the point.
Terminator should very well sound synthetic.
I figured with Remote Control behind the wheel this time, we'd get that. But in my opinion Balfe just went with Beltrami and Elfman and decided to turn this into a Jablonsky Transformers sounding score with more of your usual symphonic material.
Sure, it's using synths, but to be honest I would have preferred the synths Junkie used in Mad MAx over what was used here. Or hell, drag out Han Zimmer's harsh droning synths from the early 2000s...toss in some more anvil and marching band for the percussion and there you go.
I simply don't understand why this is so difficult. Or maybe it's too simple and that's why they keep missing the mark.
The Terminator Salvation video game score sounds closer to what I was hoping it would sound like than what we got.
Oh well...Nice themes though.

The Terminator Salvation video game correctly included the T-1000 motif, even if it wasn't used in the right context.
If Balfe stays, I'm hoping he leans more towards synth in the next score. If not, then I hope whoever takes over does.
Paramount Pictures is releasing it... If we're lucky it's planned for the 30th of june, so in 2 weeks...

And if we're lucky like last year, they will upload the complete score as the FYC on their Guilds website. ;)

Can't wait! I was apprehensive at first but on hearing the theme I realise just how well the RCP sound can suit a Terminator movie.

Ah yeah! You can hear Lorne's Transformers 1 influence all over this. I'm a fan.

I like it when a soundtrack is released one week before the date previously announced, the last week is always the most painful to wait for a new score. I'd love to have the same surprise with Hans' scores someday :-p
Thank you for the suite Hybrid, it sounds like a good old RC score, well produced and with a nice theme. Sounds a bit like a Transformers score. I hope this pushes Lorne a little further into the light, he deserves it!

Well, don't you remember Chappie when iTunes screwed up, and instead of "pre-order" status they put it on sale 1 week before the release date ? I bought it right away before they corrected their mistake !! lol

Hahaha well that's true, I remember discussing that with you at the time, I did exactly the same. I held my breath during the whole download, fearing they would somehow manage to cancel it before I could listen :-p

Sounds fairly typical of what I'd expect. It kind of reminds me of the Trond Viggo-Melsen score to the Terminator Salvation game, only without quite as many heavy themes.
The only thing I really didn't like from what I've heard so far is the non-inclusion of anything to do with the 1984 T-800 arrival or the T-800 vs T-800 fight (which starts out using the classic 'mechanical heartbeat' motif that Brad Fiedel used in the first film). I'm hoping for a more complete leak in the near future.

Really good score, my favourite of the 5. It just sound like a video game sometimes but it's really cool whatever ! :)

"The Terminator" will always be mine.
Speaking of The Terminator, listen carefully to the end of "Terminated". Rather than just have 'dudun-dun-du-dun" at the end like with the T2 theme, the strings have the four note rise that carries on after the original theme's trumpet solo.

Hybrid, why would you have to buy the Chappie soundtrack? Couldn't you just have asked your "good buddy" Hans to give you a copy of it? Hmmm.

Does anybody know when the CD version will be available? So far I can only find it as a download and there's no info anywhere about the CD release date. The only thing that indicates that probably will be a physical release as well is a game on the fan page where dedicated albums could be won.

I can confirm there's a CD coming. Have to be patient, a few weeks... At least 3... Will let you know when there's more info but it's coming.
Hybrid, I just gotta ask. What does the executive music producer do?
Hybrid Soldier

He helps the composer handling the score. He's the middle-man between the film producers / director and the composer. He helps with the general style of the score and makes sure everything goes as planned. He has a word on the final thing "Do this, more of that, avoid this..." etc.
In other words, he TALKS... With everyone. Communication is the keyword. He gives his opinion on everything.

I wonder whose idea it was to bring back Brad Fiedel's theme, given that previous films have failed to do so.
Dat Terminator Theme. This is the one thing that I, and everybody else, wanted more than anything in this film. Coupled with the Jim Cameron approval, and the reprisal of the T2 theme is awesome. Count me as pumped for this score and more excited for the film.
The end credits is apparently 7M45.

Yeah, it was no secret lol. I'm glad that Lorne Balfe chose to keep it as faithful as possible, even if it is a direct cover and not a new arrangement. I think there's only a couple of ways to spin the theme and he had the choice of doing it like the first film's theme or the second film's theme. The second film's theme is more layered, I think.

It isn't the one with the jungle swing drums is it?
ggctuk

I have no idea what jungle swing drums are, but I do know that it was on the Paramount site until this morning when they pulled it. It'll be everywhere else by now, though, including a certain site whose name I cannot actually type here because it gets censored. You won't need to wait too long, though: an OST will surely be out in the next couple of weeks and you can hear it then.

Why isn't it possible to offer the complete score as a digital download via itunes, amazon, qobuz etc. ?
That would mean less work in post production and the score would be out earlier. I'm sure we score fans would like that and buy it anyways.
Have Zimmer & Co and other composers already considered this possibility or is this not an option for them at all? Why not try this with one or two movie scores to see how the fan reaction would be...
In some cases there are also two (or more) versions of a score, a standard version and a deluxe version. Why not make the deluxe edition the complete score?
Harry Gregson-Williams is going to score Matt Damon's The Martian. Didn't know where else to post this since it hasn't been announced on this website anywhere yet.
