Its Imagine the Fire insertThe Japanese version can be ordered here: http: //www.cdjapan.co.jp/ product/WPCR-18185<br><br>The "Swan Song" is also included on the CD. So it has 3 additional tracks.Theres quite a bit of good unreleased stuff from this score. Stuff like the cue that plays during Alita's first game of motorball with the other kids, the bar fight music, the unused string rendition of Alita's theme and the end titles arrangement of Motorball/Swan Song.Does anyone have the "Motorball" cue from end credits? It sounds like the beginning of the "Motorball" track but it's different than on the OST. It plays directly after the Swan Song track...<br><br>Why is it left off the CD?Huh... Do people at RCP ask H-Z.com to use the official, less accurate credits in some cases? I seem to recall some credit fiasco on POTC4.
So what happened to the credits here? It used to be a mixture of solo Atli cues with Atli/Dave Fleming, and now all three guys are credited for every track even though Tillman is only listed as a musician? Is this like with Armageddon, where the "official" credits aren't as accurate as the older ones were? :pMost of the album is comprised of suites, with one consistent tempo per track. <br><br>The material that was scored to picture was scored using the risset rhythm technique, which gave a lot of those tracks their "infinitely getting faster" feeling in the film, so the tempo is always climbing in the film versions. The suites have a stable tempo (except for a couple normal tempo changes, which are different)Not really any... "Nothing Out There" contains the sad piano theme from Begins and Dark Knight, but otherwise the themes that get reprised are pretty much Hans stuff. <br><br>Speaking of credits, any chance the complete score page could be updated with what's out there and official?Could somebody tell me in what cues JNH's themes appear on album?Yeah, that cue was either a last minute rewrite or one of the music editors did it.... As for where you can find it...Google is your friend. But it's not going to be available anywhere officially.
I think it will be in between NOT ORDINARY CITIZEN / THE SLOW KNIFE and IMAGINE THE FIRE, Does anybody know where can I find it?<br>I noticed that this score doesn't has the soundtrack of the part where Blake is taking the people to the bridge and he is discusing with the other police officer before he blows the bridgeThat's right, I forgot about that... And I totally agree about the score vs. the album. I had no use for this score on album at first, but now that I've watched the movie a few times, I can really hear the logic behind the score and I "get it." <br><br>I still don't get the music as heard on album, though. Are the longer pieces some early suites Hans wrote? Or did he specifically make these arrangements for the album? Do you know the answer to that one, Hybrid?I wanna say I heard the full Cat Suite somewhere... I can't remember if it was legit, but it was 15:39 and it was indeed quite repetitive. It was basically the Selina Kyle Suite from the Z+ app, along with demos of several of the Catwoman-related cues in the final score. If you've listened through the score, you've basically heard the unreleased stuff.@Mike<br>Zimmer has said in interviews that he “mapped out” the film with one long piece of music to establish the changing tempo of the story, and apparently the script was written to capture the rhythmic feel of the film. So from the very beginning the story was always split up between the three.<br><br>I think a big part of the initial disappointment with the score was the album presentation, which gives off the impression that the music is just some sound design that Zimmer threw together (this is how I personally felt when I first gave it a listen). In actuality it’s a technically impressive score, I really can’t think of any other film score that is so synchronized with a film’s tempo and flows as one long piece of music. Apparently it was a nightmare for Hans, especially when the smallest edits to the film would ruin the flow.<br><br>Doing the 59-minute album was a pretty big disservice to the whole purpose of the music. If you remove one piece the whole thing falls apart, which is part of the reason the album feels so disjointed.
Anyone here listened "The Predator" FYC score? <br>Any chance to compare tracklist and running time with official release?These versions suites haven't been officially released, but maybe you can find them somewhere around the Internet unofficially.<br><br>As for the Cat Suite, the most important parts of it can be found in "Selina Kyle" (it's a shortened version of it actually) and "Mind if I cut in?" from the OST. I remember that Hybrid once said that the 15mins Cat Suite was too repetitive, that's why a 5min only version was released, so maybe you are just fine with those two.<br>Where can I listen to the Cat Suite? Or is it literally: Selina Kyle Theme? <br>The Mole P1 (0-1:57)<br>Regimental Brothers P1 (0-1:19)<br>The Mole P2 (1:57-3:44)<br>Regimental Brothers P3 (2:44 onward)<br>We Need Our Army Back<br>Shivering Soldier<br>Supermarine P1 (0-2:47)<br>The Mole P3 (3:45 onward)<br>We Need Our Army Back (again) <br>Supermarine P2 (*5:33)<br>Impulse<br>The Tide<br>Home <br>The Oil <br>Variation 15<br>End Credits <br><br>As everyone said already, the album is made up of suites that combine several cues and several "sounds" used in various places. For example, the is a sound in The Mole (At 2:05) that sounds like a fuse being ignited. This sound is actually right after The Tide in the film.<br>The only tracks that are almost identical to the film are: The Tide, Variation 15 and End Credits, the rest is different. <br><br>So if you were to order the tracks as first heard in the film it would be: <br>The Mole <br>Regimental Brothers <br>We Need Our Army Back<br>Shivering Soldier <br>Supermarine <br>Impluse <br>The Tide <br>Home <br>The Oil<br>Variation 15<br>End credits<br><br>As much as I enjoyed listening to this release, I wish they didn't butcher the score the way they did. I like the suites but there are so many great cues in this film that weren't released. If only they released an isolated score track on Blu-ray. Listening to film extracts is just not enough.I noticed that as well — the ticking goes all through the movie, except for the boat scenes, and only stops when they get on the train. <br><br>I wonder...could the film have originally been shot so that the beach, sea, and air sequences were there own arcs, and the longer album tracks were written for that? And then Nolan went in and turned the movie into the frenetic, constantly cutting-back-and-forth final product? <br><br>While the album is fine, I personally don't understand why we couldn't have just gotten the film cues. They might have had to stitch several together for each track, but it could have worked.

Alright, someone's gotta start this.... Ya think Hans will reunite with Ridley at last for the planned Gladiator sequel?

Knight2018-11-02 01:18:35
Wot? There's a sequel? Talk about unneccesary.

Sideshow Bob2018-11-02 01:21:28
$$$$$$

Scorefan2018-11-02 01:23:43
They are in the early proccess, just to get a story, ideas and then write the script, so we don't know if "that" sequel will be execute, perhaps maybe in many years. And if the movie, in the future, begins to film, Hans won't make the score. Maybe, Lorne, Matthew, Henry, Marc, someone else, but Hans, for sure, won't back with Ridley again.

Knight2018-11-02 01:26:54
There bad blood between Hans and Ridley that I don't know about?

Scorefan2018-11-02 01:35:51
There are no problems between Hans and Ridley, they have an excellent relationship, but in terms of music, Hans found so exhausting to work again with Ridley. Remember Black Rain and Thelma and Louise? After that, White Squall (Jeff Rona), G.I. Jane (Trevor Jones). After Gladiator, Hans in Hannibal, and Matchstick Men where Hans wrote 3 or 4 scores for the same movies, and Ridley decided the first score. After that Kingdom of heaven, another "Gladiator kind movie" and Hans thinking it woulbe exhausting. Harry in Madagascar, so they changed movies. After that, Marc Streitenfield in 3 movies and after that, another composer. So, maybe it's exhausting to work with Ridley in terms of music.

Knight2018-11-02 01:41:11
Ah yes, I forgot Ridley loves his temp-tracks

Mike2018-11-02 21:31:04
Well, John Powell did come back for Jason Bourne after no one thought he'd do it. So I guess miracles can happen in the film industry. But then, Powell didn't really write anything new for Jason Bourne. That was a remix score.

Olive reply Replies: 0 || 2017-11-23 16:16:17
"Strength And Honor" is a forerunner to the main theme of King Arthur and also the theme for Transformers!

I was listening to the soundtrack and unwittingly the music sent me to these two other movies. :D

mpolonest123 reply Replies: 9 || 2017-04-23 23:31:09
You know, I'll never understand why "The Spaniard" theme from 'Duduk of the North' was never utilized throughout this score. I'm guessing it was Ridley's decision but considering how beautiful the piece is, it really is a shame.

Same thing with the expanded Zod material in MoS

Mr Tweedy2017-04-23 23:56:30
I recently listened to Duduk of the North and I thought it was an excellent piece of music.
But, you know... a good idea doesn't always make the "perfect" idea. You can't keep everything.
I love how Gladiator turned out: The score in the film has a flavour and a consistency that is pretty unique, a wonderful achievement as it is!

mpolonest123 2017-04-24 01:11:57
Very true.
The film definitely comes first, and Hans' score in context is incredible. It's just a little funny that they kept the 'flavor' of the theme with the Spanish guitars but never state it.

Edmund Meinerts2017-04-24 19:29:27
It's OK, he got to use it for the Kraken in Dead Man's Chest! ;)

Ds2017-04-25 22:00:35
Wow Edmund, I'm impressed... where do you hear this theme in The Kraken? They sound like completely different pieces of music to me :-D

Edmund Meinerts2017-04-25 22:05:38
Sounds to me like the big dramatic Bach-like theme at the very end of the Kraken. Only a slight similarity though :p

mpolonest123 2017-04-25 23:11:10
@Edmund Hahahahaha..... yeah, I've always heard that too. Even the chopping string section in the background of both pieces is vaguely similar.

Mr Tweedy2017-04-26 18:19:45
@mpolonest123
Actually, there's a small hint at the "spaniard" guitar theme after the sequence where he escapes his execution (track "Homecoming" on the More Music album).

mpolonest123 2017-04-26 20:53:22
@MrTweedy
That is true, and you do get the guitars in "Barbarian Horde" (not sure where else though).

I have to admit, as revolutionary as Gladiator was at the time, I think it's one of Zimmer's more overrated scores. Not that I necessarily think it's bad, but IMO both Last Samurai and King Arthur show a much stronger balance of themes and action writing, yet unfortunately were never as recognized by the mainstream the same way Gladiator was.

JBSO992017-04-27 16:52:25
mpolonest123 I totally agree with you. It's not that I don't like Gladiator (is an awesome score) but I think The Last Samurai is one of Zimmer's most underrated scores and for me is one of his bests'

Hispano reply Replies: 13 || 2017-03-13 16:41:00
Gladiator II

Maximus is not on the Elysium, and he is not dead!!!

Ridley Scott:"I know how to bring him back... there is a way of bringing him back"

Who will compose the soundtrack? I hope you will participate again Lisa Gerrard.

Strength and honor!

Edmund Meinerts2017-03-13 18:21:21
What a terrible idea. I hope this doesn't happen.

Scorefan2017-03-13 19:49:59
Maybe as a prequel, but it's a risk idea. And it's sure, Zimmer won't come back to score another Ridley film.

METO2017-03-14 23:40:04
Why come Zimmer not back to compose a ridley film?

Scorefan2017-03-16 03:26:17
Because he said he wouldn't come back for another ridley film. It was Kingdom of heaven was initially for Zimmer and Madagascar for Harry. In the middle of time, they changed films. Zimmer said it was exhausting working on Gladiator and like Hybrid said before, it was a mess of Matchstick men. So, that's the reason.

METO2017-03-16 03:30:57
But I find a pity. That the work on gladiator was not easy I knew. But is nothing new in the film industry. Ridley Scott and Hans Zimmer have been a great team for many years.

Mike2017-03-16 04:50:42
If Hans won't do it ..... then BALFE please !

isildur2017-03-16 13:56:44
If not Hans, Mancina should do it.

Mike (Old Timer Mike)2017-03-16 20:05:35
I think Harry Gregson-Williams should do it, if Hans can't be convinced. (Well, actually, my first choice would be, don't make a sequel ;] ). But if anyone works on the film, Hans would be my first choice.

Ds2017-03-16 22:04:09
If this happens (and I really, really hope it doesn't), Jed Kurzel will probably be hired, and then he'll be replaced by an even less known composer in the middle of production. That's how it works with Ridley these days, it seems...

Mike (Old Timer Mike)2017-03-16 22:11:07
@Ds, do we really think Ridley - and the studio - would take such a chance? Gladiator's score was a massive hit back in the day. I can't imagine they wouldn't try to capitalize on its success, and on Hans' even greater popularity now.

asd2017-03-16 22:39:41
if they do a sequel, then they should hire Klaus Badelt. He scored a lot with Hans on Gladiator. And please not Balfe again. He's a good score-filler, but not great in finding themes and melodies.

Mike 2017-03-17 00:15:27
Balfe can't find themes or melodies ????? Have you not hear Beyond, AC3 or Home ????? Full of great themes

Timmusic 2017-03-17 01:54:21
Balfe's theme,s in The Bible are amazing .He could easier do it I think

Zimson reply Replies: 1 || 2014-05-19 21:24:09
God, Spotify is so messed up! It credits all the orchestrators as the composers of the score. Hans is not even mentioned.

Zimson2014-05-19 21:30:25
Same with Thin Red Line btw. It's credited to Gavin Greenaway.
I already contacted Spotify and they responded that they would take care of that problem, but didn't do anything about it, lol. I was told that they get all their information from the publishers.

I just watched the featurette about the music on the Gladiator blu-ray, it was very, very interesting and... my God, Hans looked so young, I couldn't believe my eyes.

Watch this interview, then watch the interviews he gave about Man Of Steel last year, it's a completely different world!

The media player is nice. Will you be adding more tracks to it? Like one each from Hans' all movie scores?

And +1 to Ed's post. What does that mean?

Cool! Nothing like being able to hear some of Zimmer's music, in full, on this site. I like it!

And yeah my point is to add one track per project (of my choosing lol)...

When I'm done with Hans I will with the rest.

Mike2014-01-31 23:43:28
I thought Discombobulate was a Lorne Balfe arrangement of Hans' theme? Or are you not just putting up exclusively-Hans Zimmer arrangements?

How much did Zimmer have to do with "Il Gladiatore" performed by Luciano Pavarotti?

Zimson reply Replies: 7 || 2013-12-17 14:28:49
"Elysium (2:41)
Lisa Gerrard, Klaus Badelt"

Does that mean Now We Are Free is actually from Badelt?

Mike2013-12-18 18:59:52
Hans and Badelt, I think. Because look, "Elysium" lists Badelt only, while "Now We Are Free" lists Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt. I think with Now We Are Free, Zimmer took what Badelt did in Elysium and used it.

Zimson2013-12-18 19:19:59
Yeah but basically it would be Badelt's theme then, like "He's a Pirate" is Zimmer's theme.

Hybrid Soldier2013-12-18 19:28:56
Klaus wrote the early version of Now We Are Free with Lisa, that was dropped...

Then for the final version there's Hans theme used...

Zimson2013-12-18 19:45:09
I know, the famous "Daa Da Da Daam" is by Hans. But I never knew that the rest of the track is actually Badelt's work.

Hybrid Soldier2011-08-18 15:29:58
My dear Mr. Tweedy, I'm waiting for your exposé regarding that "synth" matter... ;)

:P

ph fan2011-08-18 19:07:15
Damn Badelt has some nice MI2 tracks! Not sure where most of them lie within the film though... sound mostly like suites or alternates.

Mr Tweedy2011-08-18 19:30:01
Dear Hybrid, here is my "exposé" ! =)

The film version of Air Battle (the "orchestral version") is such a mess. The recording session of this track was pure chaos : some instruments are playing wrong notes (trumpets !), the cue sounds very weak (small orchestra) and especially rushed (last minute change ?).

I'm glad Klaus put his original synth mock up on his website instead of the film version... of course it's not exactly what you hear in the movie, but at least these are (nearly) the same notes, it has some raw power with Zimmer's trademark orchestral samples, the "waltz part" which was unreleased until now, is eventually available... I don't see any reason to complain here !

@Smith
I think Hybrid is doing his fair part of contribution to the Zimmer fan community (Inception bonus tracks, anyone?). Finding some new source of music doesn't mean claiming it to everybody here within the next few minutes... especially when you know that most people here are gonna make bootleg CDs out of these new cues and share them on forums, not even buying Zimmer CDs and so on...

Cobb2011-08-18 23:58:45
@ hybrid yeah anything on more music from inception yet?

Wow, Gladiator is on top now in the top 50. I wonder if this got voted up or if HTTYD got voted down.

This is one of Zimmer's greatest works. Even though he may have copied Holst's The Planets for some of the cues, this soundtrack cannot be topped and the track "Honor Him" is one the greatest themes to ever come out of Hans' mind.

If anyone has the Extended Collector's Edition of Avatar, there's a deleted scene on Pandora that uses the track "Strength And Honor" from this Soundtrack.

That's pretty cool. "Strength And Honor" is my favorite track from this album, and it was really really late at night when I was watching the deleted scenes, so I thought I was just hearing things. But it's really in there....

@ Dakota

Yeah apparently someone likes Zimmer and Co. enough to use their music as temp music for the deleted scenes. I also heard some John Powell from what I think was from The Bourne Identity or Supremacy. Not too sure unless I'm completely wrong. Then there was a track from The Thin Red Line in there too.

Ahhh....so it is real. Awesome. Can't wait to find it!

I add almost (Nico & Antas do add some from time to time ;)) everything here for the last 3 years !

And basically what I want ! As I said, I don't like to waste my time adding fake things... ;)

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-01-19 00:00:00
Damn, that's disappointing. You're definitely right on the whole plagiarism thing. So do you add everything, or just some? Cause I'm wondering if you added The Dark Knight 3-Disc. And if so, you're telling me that's real =)

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 0 || 2011-01-18 00:00:00
Yeah, they sued...

Though, to me, it was a bit ridiculous... Of course the Gladiator Waltz is inspired by Holst's Mars, but there's definitely no plagiarism. I mean, if THIS is plagiarism, then a million of film score composers, the Horners, Williams, JNHs or Poledouris should have been sued for ripping classical music... :P

And as for that bootleg... Well, I know how it's made... But I think there are enough fake Gladiator complete scores on this site... :P

I only add real things... :P

Hybrid, couple of things.

1.) I like that each track is listed as to who did what, so thank you.
2.) Wikipedia states (I take info from wiki with a grain of salt, as anyone with a grudge against Hans could have added it) that Hans was sued beacuse "the music for many of the battle scenes has been noted as similar to Gustav Holst's 'Mars: The Bringer of War', and in June 2006, the Holst Foundation sued Hans Zimmer for allegedly copying the late Gustav Holst's work.' Is this true?
3.) Where is the COMPLETE score for Gladiator? There is a 3-disc with 21 tracks on each disc. I have it, but I'm just wondering why it's not on the site. I see it everywhere, literally.
