Great. Thx.<br><br>Score has much similarities with Sherlock, so there is many of Lorne's cues...Known credits are Runaway Train for Mazzaro (was on his website), for Andrew K : The Rangers, Cannibal, Dead Rangers & Finish Him (on his Soundcloud). Geoff is the only guy with Ann Marie Simpson that got the privilege of cuesheet credit.
<br>
<br>Battle of Aughrim arrangement (so everything lifted from "Silver") is Hans & Ann Marie.
<br>
<br>Geoff did a good part of the score, every other classical pieces arrangements are his (so, everywhere the William Tell Overture appears). Train Chase, the End Credits, This Is A Robbery.
<br>
<br>The stuff that sounds more or less like Sherlock have definitely Lorne. And I suspect a bit more epic drama have RGW.Hello there!<br>Hybrid, do we have some composer's credits on this score?<br>Or this is situation like on Transformers score?<br><br>Somewhere I read that Geoff Zanelli helped Hans on Train Chase (pts 1&2), Mazzaro did Runaway Train and Kawczynski did like 2 or 3 tracks (the rangers, finish him). Is that correct?<br><br>btw good score, not genius, but pretty good action score.<br><br>Made in Italy<br><br>Beautiful new score by Alex Belcher, check it out!Oh, yes.<br><br>Maybe this month, right?
The album is ready. Just waiting for legal to settle it... It'll happen. And about The Rhythm Section?, Mazzaro said the score is mastered...If there'd only been the first movie prior, I think I'd get it a bit more. But the 2nd film did have a proper score release, so the only reason at this point is that it just isn't on Nick's mind after all the delays.Whoa, why not? Every obscure random shit gets released these days but a Hans Zimmer score to a fairly big mainstream movie doesn't?I doubt there'll be a score release.
The Spongebob movie is being released next Friday here in Canada, could we see a release of the album soon? Assuming of course that there will be an album at all /:I gotta say that short film was spectacular even with I Phone 11, the score by Lorne Balfe fitted very well with the scenes introduced.I'd say that this anthem was pretty great for Zimmer to score a soccer team that has been alive for 25 years.Cheers guys, much appreciated!<br>In my mind I had some video interview though, as I always like watching those as well. I do wonder if there was an extra section on the home release of the movie where ideally there might be.Hans Zimmer is one of the biggest film composers working in the industry today. He won an Academy Award for his work on The Lion King, and has been nominated for six other films including Gladiator, The Thin Red Line, and As Good As It Gets. With The Last Samurai he celebrates his 100th film score, and SoundtrackNet had an opportunity to talk with Hans a few weeks ago during a rare break in his busy schedule working on Something's Gotta Give.<br><br>You've scored many projects during your career, and The Last Samurai is being touted as your 100th film score…<br><br>Well, I'm terrible with math, so I'm not doing the counting. It could be more, it could be less – but apparently it's the 100th.<br><br>So how did you get involved with the project?<br><br>If you're lucky enough to get nominated for an Oscar, you get invited to the Oscar nominee's luncheon where they hand out these little nomination certificates. There are usually 150 people standing there, and people are invited up in alphabetical order, starting with the As. By the time they get to the Cs, everybody's already back at their table chatting and eating, and while the first people called get thunderous applause, you can imagine what it's like when your name starts with Z!<br><br>So Ed Zwick and I were standing there, waiting at one of these luncheons about four years ago, and we started talking to each other. I asked him what he was working on and he told me about this movie called The Last Samurai, which I thought sounded interesting and I asked him to send me a script. After the script arrived, I didn't hear from him for a long time and I thought he'd forgotten about me, not thinking about how difficult it is to set up a samurai movie these days. The other thing I liked about the project was that Tom Cruise was involved, so it was like returning home, since I've scored a bunch of his movies – I knew we were going to have a good time.<br><br>Did it end up that way?<br><br>Ed and his editor Steve Rosenblum are such gentlemen, so together and professional, and they basically did one cut of the film, screened it, and everyone loved their work. So after this, they had plenty of time to come and hang with me, and while I usually love the re-cutting process because it's a diversionary tactic to keep the director and editor out of my life, these guys were great to have around. <br><br>Of course, my sense of paranoia made me think that something was going wrong all the time, waiting for the other shoe to drop, as it were, but it never happened. Ed phoned this morning and I thought, "Oh my god – rewrite!" It's just how my brain works. But I think he and I feel a bit odd now: we've been seeing each other every day for months, and suddenly we're done. I completely understand why people have a problem finishing a movie, because there's something really nice about the process – completion is far more boring.<br><br>For Samurai, you used Japanese percussions and ethnic woodwinds, without getting too 'Japanese'.<br><br>My problem is that I feel Japanese music is really inaccessible to Western ears, and I was really struggling with this film initially, trying to figure out what I was doing. This idea popped into my head for using Western-style themes, but applying a Japanese aesthetic to them, which sounds great of course, until I had to ask myself what I meant! Actually, I think it's just my way of not overloading certain things with too many colors, or being geometrically precise about my cues and not making them too flowery.<br><br>The Tom Cruise character is one of those nasty drunks at the beginning, who obviously has some serious problems he's trying to deal with, or not deal with. He's obnoxious and restless, suffering sleepless nights and is very un-Tom. For me, this character's journey was about his need to earn tranquility and peace, so within the score there's this very romantic, overblown and passionate theme. It's like a juvenile way of dealing with life and death – the pain and liebestod.<br><br>However, to contrast with these very relentless themes, there are a number of stark, formal and sober pieces, because I wanted to take Tom's character on a journey. He comes from America and ends up in this foreign place where he doesn't speak the language or understand the culture. But at the end of the movie, I want the audience to think that there isn't a more beautiful place for him to be, that he is at home in Japan and finally at peace.<br><br>There are many useless acts of bravery we do out of misguided romanticism, and this movie is full of courageous and dignified acts of bravery. So I wanted to play off these acts, since both the American and Japanese cultures have a concept of heroism, and I just wanted to see if I could play with the nature of the two different concepts.<br><br>So you didn't want to do the stereotypical Japanese thing...<br><br>Absolutely not! Take Akira Kurosawa's Ran, for example, which has this brilliant score where Takemitsu writes Western music, but with an Eastern accent. Somebody asked me a few days ago why As Good As It Gets was European – why did I write a European score for a quintessentially American story? For me, it's because Jack Nicholson was crazy in the movie, and I felt one of the great things about America is how they always think we Europeans are crazy. So by writing a European-styled score, it's my way of saying that Jack is crazy, but it's alright!<br><br>How do you feel about people who criticize your work for not fitting into the time period, like Gladiator?<br><br>The reason I take these jobs is because I'm interested in foreign cultures, and every time I get to work on a movie I'm thrown into the adventure of whatever that culture is, the time, and wherever the story's taking place. So one of the things I'm very careful about is not to be historically correct to the culture, but, on the other hand, not to insult the underlying aesthetics of that culture either. I remember watching Chariots of Fire and thinking how brilliantly the music worked, never missing that it wasn't period instruments! I grew up listening to Bach played by a symphony orchestra – it's the wrong sized orchestra with the wrong instruments, but I don't think that's the point.<br><br>With Gladiator, Pietro Scalia brought in a CD saying "this is Ancient Roman music," and I said, "Says who? You went to the Ancient Roman music store and bought an Ancient Roman music CD? Bullshit!" We're not anthropologists. Look at he costumes Ridley Scott had: they were more Napoleonic than Roman, which was perhaps fitting since Napoleon had stolen all of his good ideas from the Romans regarding how to make his generals look cool – and so did Hitler! So I got criticized for making the "Entry into Rome" cue too Leni Riefenstahl – but that was the joke! I am allowed to have a sense of humor in my music!<br><br>Earlier this summer your credit on Pirates of the Caribbean was "Score Overproduced by". What was the deal with that?<br><br>Well, I thought honesty was a virtue! But seriously, Jerry Bruckheimer quite rightly asked me not to give him "that old-fashioned Pirate music," and Gore Verbinski, who I adore and did The Ring with, said, "Well, it is a pirate movie, so we have to disguise it." In the end, I spent a day and a half writing tunes, Klaus Badelt wrote a lot of stuff, and we rolled up our sleeves, got drunk, behaved in a debauched way, and produced a score!<br><br>There was a lot of criticism regarding that score, but in the end it had to serve the film - which it did. You seem to get a lot of criticism on any project you do.<br><br>I had the misfortune of going onto the Film Score Monthly web site recently to look something up and vanity made me type in my own name. I suddenly realized that you can't ever get it right. Who do people want me to be? The guy that writes Matchstick Men? Or the guy that writes The Rock? Or the guy that writes Driving Miss Daisy? My need is ultimately to write for myself. I mock myself and I'm ironic about the way I speak about it because if I take it too seriously, it would be a pompous and boring thing to do. But at the same time I take each note I write very seriously – none of them are random.<br><br>The Internet Movie Database always lists you as being attached to multiple projects, so I was curious, what's Sharktail?<br><br>I complained to Jeffrey Katzenberg that I couldn't cross any more Red Seas, or deal with any more horses that can't speak – I wanted to do one of the fun animated movies instead. There's also a hip-hop element in Sharktail, and I haven't been there yet, so it's new territory! King Arthur is still in production, and I literally just got the first bits of footage just before you came here.<br><br>Are you working on all of these projects simultaneously?<br><br>I'm thinking about them! I'm also working with Jim Brooks on his new comedy, Spanglish.<br><br>And speaking of comedies, you recently did Matchstick Men for Ridley, which had a very Nino Rota vibe to it....<br><br>And I gave him credit! I thought, what if Nino had written the theme and I was just doing the variations? But I bet I'm going to get criticized for that because it's not like Gladiator.<br><br>So when did you last have a vacation?<br><br>Well, I went to Japan for a couple of days at the end of November for the Japanese premiere of Samurai, but look, I love what I do! In January I'll travel to Morocco because Ridley will be shooting his next movie, Kingdom of Heaven, so that's like a holiday!<br><br>My family and I are going away at Christmas, and what we used to do would be to rent a house in the mountains and go on these skiing holidays. It would be a crappy house, not as nice as the one we live in, my wife was still going to the market, and we're still washing our plates – so it wasn't a vacation, it was a lot of work! It's taken us a long time, but we just figured it out: we're not practical with vacations – we're staying at hotels! But while the Zimmer family isn't talented when it comes to vacations, we're talented when it comes to work!<br><br>I sat through Samurai the other day, and for the first time watched the whole movie from top to tail with everything finished and completed. It felt really good, better than a vacation. But luckily there were enough things wrong for me to think that I learned something from the experience, and now I can't wait for the next project to try these new ideas out.<br><br>The soundtrack to The Last Samurai is available from Elektra Records, and the film is currently in theaters. Matchstick Men is available on Varese Sarabande Records.<br><br>With thanks to Chet Mehta at Chasen & Co, Jason Cienkus at Warner Brothers, and Nina Lynch and Mark Wherry at Media Ventures for helping with this interview. And, of course, special thanks to Hans.
Mulan get his release... through Disney+, 4th September.Mulan is being released on sept 4th. Can't wait to hear Harry's score!!!!Here's an interview about Last Samurai from Soundtrack.net https: //www.soundtrack. net/content/article/?id=112You can find an interview with Hans on his process for TLS on soundtrack.net somewhere, back in 2003 or 2004The tracklist they posted has 58 tracks and yours contains only 54

Hybrid: " Honestly I still miss Zod though, I simply adored that from MOS, Arcade/Zod and all its variations..."

Well it was used in Their War Here at least right? ;)

WHY THE HELL IS TERRAFORMING IN THE BATMAN SUITE PREVIEW????

Ds2016-02-18 08:27:10
That preview seems to be wrong... it's exactly the same as the opening track of Man of Steel, which is Superman's theme.

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 10:51:10
The preview is right ! ;)

I'd just say, "wait for it... waaaaaaaaait for it !" lol

No honestly I have listened to the full thing, still unsure if I should put anything up on this page yet, I don't want Warner on my back lol... But since now there are extracts out...

Ds2016-02-18 11:43:14
Holy shit Hybrid you're so lucky. We poor people have another month to wait...

At least you can tell us about the music, can't you? Like, is the Comic con trailer music really part of the score? Is there a theme for WW? Does the heroic portion of "What are you going to do...." come back at some point?

There's so much I want to know :-p

Micah2016-02-18 16:13:50
Maybe it's part of the Trinity taking on Doomsday at the end of the film?

Also, Problems Up Here sounds ripped straight out of The Lone Ranger (another personal favorite Hans soundtrack). I am SO glad I pre-ordered this album.

Mike2016-02-18 16:50:21
Yeah, Hybrid, question: does this mean the "Batman" suite is literally a "Batman theme v Superman theme" suite? :P Also, the Clark Kent piano theme IS returning. I was wondering if this movie would be too bombastic for that. lol.

Mike2016-02-18 16:52:21
Also, 'nuther question: is this a HZ/JXL score through and through, or is one composer's "voice" more prominent than the other like TDK?

Anonymous2016-02-18 16:55:58
i agree about the lex luther theme... zimmer channeling his sherlock holmes / lone ranger style

Mike2016-02-18 17:00:33
I would definitely repeat Ds' question about "What are you...?" Does it show up anywhere before the credits? Superman deserves to have his theme in full glory! Or, perhaps, did HZ write a new theme like his "New Batman Theme" from TDK?

Anonymous2016-02-18 17:02:58
well hybrid if you WON'T get blasted for it you should put up a JXL track and a Zimmer track ... but yeah... don't do anything you'll regret hahaha

0-cool2016-02-18 18:02:10
I'm wondering if the Flight theme(also heard in Goodbye my Son) is returning

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 18:25:14
I added something......

Ds2016-02-18 18:38:24
Hmmmm thank you Hybrid!!! Is it a compilation of several actual tracks of the OST, or is it an unreleased suite provided by God for your website? :-)

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 18:42:14
No no it's my montages... lol

Ds2016-02-18 18:47:20
And just to get an idea, what tracks did you use?

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 18:55:59
I won't tell !! :P

Anonymous2016-02-18 18:59:56
Nice share.
But...did you remove all the action music or has the score not a lot?

I was expecting a full album of stuff like Is She With You? This was rather quit and boring

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 19:02:37
Yeah I wanted to put more thematic than action, but there is a lot of action too... lol

Anonymous2016-02-18 19:09:08
I see.

Well we probably have heard most of the interesting bits of the score by now, so thank you.

And it will probably leak in a week or 2 as well in full.

Micah2016-02-18 20:10:09
Hey Hybrid, I've been on this site for several years, but I've totally forgotten your connection to Hans. How did you manage to hear the soundtrack in advance and get a hold of these clips?

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 20:13:58
Classified !

Ds2016-02-18 20:21:23
Haha Hybrid are you serious? Why wouldnt you tell which tracks you used? :-p

Btw i noticed the same thing, very atmospheric stuff, almost no drumming in your montages. Did you choose it, or did Hans tell you not to release the coolest stuff yet? :-D

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 20:27:41
Okay okay don't freak out... lol

For Bat I just used the suite, with the OST introduction...

As for Supe it's the intro for Men Are Still Good + Beautiful Lie + Red Capes Are Coming + This Is My World

And I chose myself, obviously... :P

mpolonest1232016-02-18 20:33:29
Hybrid, what is your initial impression of the score? Especially compared to Man of Steel...

As for the samples, "Beautiful Lie" sounds gorgeous. I'm hoping Supes theme does get some development here.

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 20:43:40
Well, the score, I won't really give an opinion before I hear it all in the film... I don't trust OST releases, especially from Hans !!

I expected it to sound very JXL, but in the end it sounds a lot HZ...

It keeps the roots of MOS while being quite different, and there's a good balance between Bat & Sup. Honestly I still miss Zod though, I simply adored that from MOS, Arcade/Zod and all its variations... The more "epic drama" parts of Batman are not much developped though, but I fear it'll just be the OST release lol... Can't wait to check the film...

Mortifer V.2016-02-18 20:44:56
The score sounds so good. Cannot wait anymore!!

mpolonest1232016-02-18 20:52:15
@hybrid That sounds great! I am a little nervous for Batman though, his theme hasn't really grabbed me yet. Maybe in the context of the film it will work better...

Batman2016-02-18 21:08:40
So, this "dun dun dun daan" is my new theme?

Superman2016-02-18 21:21:50
@ Batman

Mine is better, because Zimmer did it... Don't take it personnal, it was my movie after all.

ANDREW2016-02-18 21:54:18
I'm sorry but I DON'T LIKE AT ALL the new Batman theme. It is pretty obvious what music was done by Hans and what was done by Junkie XL. It's very different and doesn't work in any level. The Superman theme and how Hans create new music for him is INCREDIBLE. This is Lone Ranger/Sherlock Holmes/Inception meets Superman. Once again, such a huge hype for this film and like Man of Steel it will have people divided and the score provides that as well.

Ds2016-02-18 22:05:35
I really LOVE that "Superman" suite.

Those 3 new pieces are really beautiful, 2 new themes and a reprise of "If You Love These People", my favourite track from MoS.

The track "This Is My World" is over 6 minutes long, I really wonder in which direction it goes after those glorious first 2 minutes!

Thank you Hybrid for uploading this so soon!

antovolk2016-02-18 23:01:09
LOL I love how you put what's clearly IMO Bruce Wayne's theme into the Supes suite...

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 23:22:25
Well "Superman" as a title is a little joke. The suite is not per se a Superman suite, more like a HZ one ! ;)

The real Sup theme suite was written 3 years ago and we already have it ! :)

Everan2016-02-18 23:23:57
Three years... geez
Quite a while to wait.

Batman2016-02-19 08:16:00
@Superman, It doesn't matter, how good your theme is. Your movies will never be as good as mine. Do you know why?

Because I'm BATMAN.

Pluto reply Replies: 0 || 2016-02-19 00:11:09
Haha, poor Hybrid, getting bombarded with questions. I might as well join in the fun! XD

I know you probably haven't listened to it enough to truly judge, but which cue or song had you like "Wow, I need to listen to that again!!!" or left you in awe? I'm hoping it's "Black And Blue" cause that sounds like it will be an awesome track! :D

Clark595 reply Replies: 1 || 2016-02-18 23:45:31
Hybrid,

Can you tell us if "This is my world" is Superman related aside the "if you love these people" part?

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 23:53:01
Yep it's a very quiet part using choir, quite reminiscent of Man of Steel and... TASM 2 !

Clark595 reply Replies: 0 || 2016-02-18 23:45:24

"A Beautiful Lie" from Bat v Sup and "I Need to Know" from TASM 2 complement each other very nicely if you listen to one after the other :P

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-18 19:29:47
Nope it's not... Not in the score release, which probably misses 60% of the score... So let's wait for the film... lol

Anonymous2016-02-18 19:38:25
I won't see the film. Not interested.

I haven't seen most movies Zimmer scored the past 7 years. I like his music though.

Mike2016-02-18 22:32:17
Does the Superman theme from MoS play a significant role in this score, or has the "Beautiful Lie" theme replaced it?

Man, I just finished listening to the new montages, and let me tell you, I haven't been this excited for a soundtrack since At World's End released in '07. The Superman suite in particular is beautiful and introduced more themes than I was expecting. Batman's is literally Batman in a song, so that's a plus. This OST is gonna be incredible.

SAMPLES ARE UP ON AMAZON
And there are some weird stuff around, especially Red Capes, along with some old stuff like Clark's theme. Every time I hear a little snippet, I get incredibly excited, don't know why. Might be my new HZ favourite now.

It sounds like some weird combination of Mad Max, The Dark Knight Rises and The Lone Ranger with a little Man of Steel thrown in for good measure. T'll be interesting to see what the full thing sounds like.

ei182016-02-18 06:00:18
Is it me or does everything sound horribly compressed? Could just be the previews?

Ds2016-02-18 08:11:49
The Red Capes Are Coming has got to be Lex Luthor's theme.

ei18: Samples on amazon sound always crappy, they upload them at a very low quality.

Ds2016-02-18 08:24:28
So glad the "If you love these people" theme is back!!!

Yeah, Amazon's previews always sound like that. It does not sound like that, trust me.

Everan2016-02-16 03:38:39
nvm
God, this soundtrack has gotten my money already, and I'll throw it to the screen again 'cause it's gorgeous

Yay2016-02-16 09:19:03
Lets hope some other tracks get leaked too.

WaterTower get what they deserve with their hypetrain tactics like this soundtrack is a Rihanna or Beyonce album. Early leaks start happening. Kinda cool.

Mortifer V.2016-02-16 12:55:06
Such a great track!

So, the premiere of the film is going to be in my hometown, Mexico City!! So Hybrid, you think there's an atomic sized chance of Hans himself coming over? Cause I'd die

Any idea when the first samples will be released. With Fury Road Watertower put them all out about a month ahead of time.

I expect the BvS samples to come out pretty soon. About 42 days are left...

mpolonest1232016-02-05 01:25:37
Hopefully, I'm soooooo curious to see what Hans and Tom have come up with

Mortifer V.2016-02-05 16:07:59
Check out WaterTower's SoundCloud. They uploaded a sample from The Batman Suite.

Mike2016-02-05 16:59:36
Yeah, it definitely sounds like Hans did end up writing for Batman here. I wonder if this is an unused / unheard idea he had back in the Nolan trilogy...

Mike2016-02-05 17:11:39
If I had to guess, I'd say the background "Dun...dun dun dun DUN DUN DUUUNNNN" part was an initial idea by Zimmer (it sounds like the last twenty seconds of "The Batman Theme" from Begins' complete score), while the tune over that is either Hans' idea expanded on by Junkie XL, or just Junkie XL.

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-05 17:43:05
It's in the "Bless" theme as well... lol

Anonymous2016-02-05 18:57:07
Any comment on this so-called fake version of "Is She With You" that was posted on reddit?

mpolonest1232016-02-05 19:26:12
It sounds good, pretty much what I expected. It will interesting to see how the softer side of Bruce Wayne is tackled

Ds2016-02-05 19:28:46
It's really a LONG wait :-(

I hope they'll release a few full tracks like they did with MoS. Snippets are too frustrating!

Joshua2016-02-05 20:16:00
Really? I think it kinda sounds like some of the percussion heard in Tom's Point Break suite. But that's just me.

Brokebat 2016-02-05 22:03:00
That sounds super generic. Did junkie even try? Sorry, but this sounds more suited for a revenge drama rather than Batman.

Pluto2016-02-05 23:45:05
Batman is a revenge drama! That's the idea behind the character; it's what drives him.

RebelRising2016-02-06 00:32:49
Have to agree; this track (at least the sample we heard) is a bit generic. I don't mind it so much on its own terms, but I hope it's not representative of what the full Batman theme will sound like. It's certainly not going to convert the anti-RCP crowd; if anything it will just confirm them that Zimmer and Holkenborg is a staid collaboration.

For all the criticism leveled at Zimmer's work on Batman and Superman, at least there was a good balance of soaring, heroic themes and moody, reflective pieces alongside the pounding action cues. Hopefully the whole score for BvS demonstrates more variety than what we've gotten so far.

Just my two cents.

But for what it's worth, I'm enjoying his Deadpool score immensely.

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-06 01:13:18
It's pretty funny how suddenly everyone reacts while no one gave a shit this theme was basically shown 10 months ago ! lol

Frank2016-02-06 07:31:06
Wait a second, is it just me or does anyone else find the theme is somehow similar to Elliot Goldenthal's Batman?

Lejti2016-02-06 10:32:34
Frank: +1

Mike2016-02-06 19:41:44
Oh, I noticed it was the same thing as the Comic Con theme... But I just figured everyone knew that, so why comment? lol

mpolonest1232016-02-06 20:30:53
Just listened to that leak of "Is She With You" on Reddit. It sounds 100% legit (although the mixing isn't that great)

mpolonest2016-02-06 20:37:38
If it is real it sounds insane lol

Ds2016-02-07 01:26:26
Well apparently the track leaked is legit...

Anonymous2016-02-07 01:59:15
Of course it's legit. Why are people still doubting it. Shazam and YouTube confirmed its legit.

Meta2016-02-07 02:25:33
Considering USA can't view the leaked track due to copyright claims, I'm going to say it's a legit track.

Anonymous2016-02-07 02:47:11
"Shazam and YouTube confirmed its legit."

How would they know it's legit if the OST isn't even available?

Nonore2016-02-07 03:32:30
It's exactly the same duration on the album. Maybe it's not a reason but it doesn't look like a fake. It might be.

Anonymous2016-02-07 03:41:20
The OST may not be available however that doesn't mean it's not registered with the RIAA. Use your brain.

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-07 09:50:19
Stop torturing yourselves, it IS legit...

Ds2016-02-07 11:36:00
Hybrid, do you say that because you THINK it is legit, or because someone official confirmed it to you? In the latter case, how is it even possible that the OST leaked so long before the release? Did you get any explanation?

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-07 11:42:27
Because the OST is ready for a while, and WaterTower was probably stocking its files online on the sourcecode of the website or something, and someone found the correct address to download them...

There's ALWAYS someone smarter...

I don't have it, though ! I'd like to ! But yeah the track is real. lol

ei182016-02-07 18:07:54
in "Is She With You?" at around 2:30, does anyone hear similarities to The Dark Knight trilogy music?

Micah2016-02-08 07:44:11

mpolonest1232016-02-13 00:49:28
Just noticed that the iTunes link on the Watertower page links to the same album for both the standard and deluxe edition. Any idea why this is, is there a chance they might release some more music down the road?

Joshua2016-02-13 07:14:07
The Hans Zimmer live twitter said the music in the final trailer released yesterday was from Zimmer, was not expecting that. Very heavy rock influence in it.

Mortifer V.2016-02-13 13:33:21
I believe who ever wrote that tweet, is making a mistake.

Ds2016-02-13 16:44:10
They probably mean the movie features music from HZ, not the trailer. But the way they wrote it is misleading

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-13 23:05:26
Don't torture yourself it's NOT from the score...

Hey Hybrid, on IMDB Junkie is listed as composer of Godzilla 2 for 2018, is it mistake or will he score it? I thought that Edwards composer is Alexandre Desplat. Still it would be cool to see Tom create score for King of the Monsters, but I think it is not true.

Hybrid Soldier2016-02-06 22:29:29
No idea...

Scarecrow92016-02-06 22:33:09
I see now that on IMDB pro are listed Brian Tyler and John Paesano as well... I love Brian Tyler but I think it is not going to happen and Desplat will do it. Still interresting idea I must say. Thank you for replying Hybrid :-)

Mortifer V.2016-02-10 15:55:44
I saw it too and it's almost certainly false. I'm sure Gareth will have Desplat compose for the sequel too.

Yep Hans kept Eric very busy in the last few months...

Dudu2016-02-06 19:14:21

I think that part was by Junkie, am i right?

Edmund Meinerts2016-02-04 16:58:29

Radik2016-02-05 08:40:13
Indeed. That's a very common and naturally phenomena because so many countries, so many customs; dear friend ;)

Zach reply Replies: 3 || 2016-01-26 14:42:20
It kind of seems like, just from hearing little snippets of the music here and there(comic con, trailers), that while Bale/Nolan Batman's music is very sort of moody and reserved, this Batman's music is going to be louder and more bombastic.
I liked the comic con piece, pretty dark, gothic, and dramatic. It's definitely a different direction but I hope Hans and Junkie XL will have the type of softer moodier moments that I loved from the Batman Begins Score. Man I can't wait to hear it!

Mike2016-02-02 15:28:48
Well Hans did write some big and bombastic stuff for Batman ("Wayne Manor" and "Like a Dog Chasing Cars" prove that) but in the end, either he or Chris didn't want to use them.

And I agree about the softer, moodier moments. I love the atmosphere of Batman Begins, and it's a shame that the next two scores kind of went into standard RCP action mode,

Anonymous2016-02-03 00:48:57
I beg to differ somewhat. TDK has plenty of the same atmosphere as BB. Not the same amount, but it's still there.

JamesT2016-02-03 04:13:36

MacArthur 2016-01-16 17:16:30
I wonder if zimmer had any hand on the batman theme at all cause that would be awesome. Junkie's good to BTW.

Hybrid Soldier2016-01-16 17:44:34
Hans was the very first working on it last year. Did some initial "riff" and handed it to Junkie.

Who knows about the final result, maybe it's nothing to do with the initial sketches... lol

...2016-01-16 19:16:40
You're talking about the batman theme right and not the whole score? ;)

Mac2016-01-17 07:51:19
I was talking the batman theme. But who knows

Mike2016-01-17 17:26:29
Pretty sure Hybrid was referring to the Batman theme itself, yes, not the whole score.

And while I'm here, I thought of something earlier. Even though I consistently liked the scores, I used to dislike the fact that Hans Zimmer was being given a sort of "composer's monopoly" on superhero scores outside the Marvel universe (Batman trilogy, Man of Steel, Spider-Man, and now the rebooted Batman - which Hybrid confirms he did write stuff for, even if it didn't end up used). But then I realized, Danny Elfman has gotten the same treatment over the years. Elfman worked on Batman (2 films), Spider-Man (2 films), a Hulk film, and even an Avengers movie. So what if Zimmer has written two Batman themes, a Superman score, and a Spider-Man score? Zimmer's case is no different than Elfman's, it just happened faster..

anonymous2016-01-17 17:31:53
honestly if zimmer did help w/ the final batman theme that makes me all the more eager to hear it. cause i'd wanna hear how different it sounds from the nolan stuff.

mac2016-01-18 01:27:30
Hence why I asked. LOL

Pluto2016-01-19 23:54:53
I'm not sure how many of you saw the Comic-Con Panel for "Batman v Superman" in July, but if you haven't, there is a piece of music that plays when the actors are coming on stage at around the 2:15 mark and I am almost certain it is from the movie. I don't know why, but I am in love with that piece even though it is just a minute but it has this sort of Zimmer/Elfman vibe to it. I REALLY hope it make it's way onto the soundtrack. Here is the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXP-uvc7DZs Like I said, check it out at the 2:15 mark.

Hybrid Soldier2016-01-20 00:13:09
Yeah love that part, at the end is the choir theme we heard in most of the trailers, so it's a sure bet it's from the score, and probably the Batman theme... We'll see !

Ds2016-01-20 09:39:48
This piece could very well be Batman's theme, indeed. Could be from the Batman suite.

0-^-02016-01-21 13:19:00
14 minutes of... "riff"?

...that is assuming the suite at the end is the thing HZ put together and handed over to Junkie.

Anonymous2016-01-21 22:47:37
I thought HZ was going to leave Batman's music completely in JXL's hands, correct? I figured he would have nothing to do with it.

Another thing: I'm not sure anyone's noticed, but on Tuesday night WB aired a tv special covering DC Films and the direction they're taking. Among a dozen things they showed about the upcoming DC films, the most interesting thing was all the music heard throughout. Some of it was Man of Steel. Other snippets were clearly new (and very, VERY Zimmery!). Most interestingly, towards the end you hear the Dark Knight theme, and then it blends into some other piece of music. I don't know if that's the editing, or if it's one piece of music altogether.

Anyway, it'd be very interesting to check this out. I'm surprised it hasn't come up already.

0-^-02016-01-22 10:20:24
@Anonymous

Regarding your first paragraph - In general, I think it makes more sense to wait and see what HZ ends up doing with the project, rather than taking his statements about "what he will do" for granted.

Mortifer V. 2016-01-25 00:15:58
Check out the latest TV Spot from WB - https://youtu.be/iUJH43X_Dw4

It certainly features Junkie's score, and the end sounds like that track from Comic-Con ;)

0-cool2016-01-25 17:13:32
this might have been posted already but I think that the new Batman theme was played during cast introduction at the comic-con panel.(starts at 2:16)

https://youtube.com/watch?v=pXP-uvc7DZs

Mike2016-01-25 22:09:23
Mortifier, the end of the TV spot sounded more like Hans to me - it sounded just like the end of the Batman Theme suite of Batman Begins.

Micah2016-01-26 05:53:33
I think you're right. That Comic Con theme matches up with the clip released from the OST.

Is there any difference between the CD and the MP3 version other than the booklet and liner notes? I'm a college student and I need to save every dollar I can.

Dimitris Krommidas2016-01-24 21:29:31
Buy the cd if you are a collector.
Personal, I have a huge collection of albums from any composer I know. Worth avery euro I have given! Especialy the scores by Hans Zimmer!

Micah2016-01-24 21:55:28
I'd love to (I'm a huge DC fan, plus I love Junkie and Zimmer) but I just paid off my balance for this semester and have next to no money to my name. I want this so much, but it's not a necessity to have a physical copy. :(

Mike2016-01-24 22:21:15
Presumably there wouldn't be a difference in the music itself.... you would just lack the booklet / info if you went the mp3 route...

Was disappointed by that too.

mpolonest1232016-01-20 19:56:28
That's strange, less than 20 minutes on disc 2. They could easily fit more suites/film cues on it

Ds2016-01-20 21:50:30
Probably the only really new suite is Batman's, and it's included in the first disc. For the rest, I guess much will come from Man Of Steel, for which we already have the suites :-p

mpolonest1232016-01-21 04:32:51
@Ds Yeah that's probably true. MOS had 50 minutes on its second disc though. Either way I'm pumped for this score. That sample was f*cking amazing!

Mike reply Replies: 0 || 2016-01-20 22:26:02
Yes, that is a surprisingly little amount of music on disc 2.... I'm surprised. One thing to bear in mind is, we're really getting 76 minutes of actual on-screen music (assuming CD 2 is cues), cause the Batman suite is 14 minutes itself. They better not have done an "Escape From Ship" / "Rest of My Life Film Mix" move and written the coolest cue when the album was finished! :P
