Same here. The cue I want the most is ďWe Strike FirstĒ.@Edmund<br>I canít agree enough. These remakes suffer from the issue of being inferior to the original source material, mainly because they rely so heavily on copying the originals so heavily. Iím not necessarily against Disney updating their classics if they are willing to do new takes on the material. Take Jungle Book for example; they were able to do something fresh with the concept while keeping elements of the animated film. Even Maleficent, which Iím not crazy about, tried something new. <br><br>Another BIG issue Iíve noticed is the fact that they lean towards hiring actors who cannot sing, or at least cannot sing on the level required. Emma Watson, Will Smith, Chiwetel Ejiofor, etc.Best shot <br>It wasnt meant to be<br>Home invasion<br>Ahab waves (0:39-end)<br>Permission to come aboard?<br>Ask the sea<br>Ahab waves (0:00-0:38)<br>Saving pops<br>Swimming lessons<br>Kingdom of atlantis<br>Legend of atlan<br>Ring of fire<br>What does that even mean?<br>Ocean to ocean<br>Obligation<br>Dunes<br>Map in a bottle<br>Black manta<br>Mera montage<br>Between land and sea<br>Trench engaged<br>What could be greater than a king?<br>Suited and booted<br>He commands the sea<br>Reunited<br>Everything i need<br><br>"Arthur" and "Atlantean Soldiers" are probably suitesJust want shrike death cue!I feel as though Menken did a bit more to differentiate his 2017 Beauty and the Beast from the 1991 one. The major pieces like "Prologue" and "Transformation" were left relatively intact but otherwise the rewrite was a bit more substantial than what Zimmer and crew did here. Compare the final battle music from the original (which consists to a large degree of upbeat instrumental versions of "Be Our Guest") to the remake (which is largely serious, straightforward orchestral action music). I haven't heard his new Aladdin so I'm not sure what the old:new ratio was there.<br><br>I'm not necessarily complaining, this is basically what I expected the score would be from the moment it was announced. The problem lies deeper, with the entire premise of these pointless remakes that allow very little wiggle room for freshness or creativity. Of course, I have no doubt this movie will make north of a billion dollars and give the Disney execs further license to print money. Maybe by the time they've remade every single film in their vault enough time will have passed that they can just start from the beginning again and nobody need ever be subject to the indignity of an original story ever again.
It's a variation of the theme Anthem from the first Top Gun film by Harold Faltermeyer.whats the name of the song being played in this trailer?<br>is it available onlineThis is the perfect companion piece to the original. It is like the high level concert version that Zimmer never did with the original Lion King.Is there any form of chronological order to the original with the deluxe tracks?Looks like your wish was granted ;)<br>
It's out for me and "Ask The Sea" is exactly the cue I wanted :D It's so good! I actually tweeted at him asking if he'd consider including it in the release - he didn't react to my tweet then and now I wonder if he read it or he planned to include it all along. <br><br>I've only seen the movie once and I haven't listened to the score much so I need to revisit it soon. Thanks, that's great!!<br><br>Hooe those sessions will be here soon. Still a lot of music music. Would have liked it better if those remixes, were actually score tracksMera Montage is the big rock vocal cue used during the Sicily Battle & the Wine scene.<br><br>Home Invasion the opening soldiers barging in to capture Atlanna, as well as a part of the Black Manta / Orm negotiation scene.<br><br>Saving Pops is... the saving pops scene...<br><br>Ahab Wave is the tsunami scene + and when Aquaman arrives to the sub to fight Manta's gang.<br><br>Ask the Sea is when Aquaman refuses to help Manta's dad.<br><br>Olbigation is the soft piece in the plane when Aquaman & Mera talk.<br><br>Dunes is the comedic Dunes slide scene...I just want the Sicily Battle music!Having seen it I can say visually it is incredible, definitely a work of art on that level. What sets it back (for me personally) is the lack of a strong emotional core. The choice to make the animals realistic looks great, but doesnít have the same range that the hand drawn version had in terms of giving the animals the facial characteristics like the original. Soulless might be kind of harsh, but I didnít feel anything throughout. Also doing a shot-for-shot remake probably wasnít the best approach. <br><br>Musically though; this definitely was a great reminder as to why the original score is still a classic. Like everyone has said, itís a perfect companion piece that actually fixes some minor flaws and fleshes out some ideas much better. Some important cues missing though.
ďAsk The SeaĒ <br>Oh please be the cue I want...Deluxe edition releases tomorrow<br>http :// filmmusicreporter .com /2019/07/18/aquaman-deluxe-edition-soundtrack-to-be-released /Didn't Menken do much the same with Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast? I think the only ones who have been the most original with the scores to these remakes have been Danny Elfman and John Debney.<br><br>My personal view is this serves as a great compliment to the 1994 soundtrack, not an outright replacement. If you combined the two you'd get quite the meaty soundtrack.<br><br>As for the film itself, I highly doubt it will be as 'great' as the original, but that's not to say that it deserves the slating critics have given it either. I personally can't say - I haven't seen it yet.Recently in China, a movie was released called Looking Up, and the soundtrack was released with Steffen Thum's score and main theme/additional music by Lorne Balfe.I have to agree. It's a stellar score and I love it, but it was written 25 years ago, nevertheless.<br>Still, credit where credit's due, as you mentioned, the new 'Stampede' is a beast of a track, really added to the original, as well as the 'Battle' cue, awesome stuff for sure. <br>Haven't seen the movie yet, but I really hope it measures up, at least in the same way the score does.

And here comes the Lady Gaga watertower hype train again. Three months in advance...for a filmscore...with teasers and premium ultra deluxe editions, minuscule samples, hidden exclusive 128kpbs bonus tracks and probably missing the most important track or theme from the movie...

I mean I am probably gonna love the score but the way watertower promo team works seems more fit for Rihanna then it is for a film score.

Anyway I listen to it and the samples they day it is released.

It's two months.

I would love it if this score turns out to be like a genuine battle between Zimmer and Junkie's music in each cue, kinda like how in Batman Begins you can hear JNH start a cue and HZ finish it. Having HZ's superman theme and Junkie's Batman theme play off each other throughout would be awesome.

mpolonest1232016-01-14 16:25:44
Oh god yes!

Considering that they are introducing Wonder Woman, Lex, Doomsday, etc. I'm hoping that they bring in several new themes.

And of course the suites.....

Is the music in this clip the score? teamcoco.com/video/zack-snyder-superman-clip

Definitely !

Definitely JunkieXL, that.

Any idea if the BvS Comic-Con trailer music was confirmed to be Hans or Junkie?

It really sounded a LOT like Junkie. Hope it makes it into the film because it's incredibly epic.

JR2016-01-07 11:20:37
I found it terrible... Hope the score will be better

mpolonest1232016-01-07 15:40:23
Normally I'm pretty dismissive about trailer music, this one definitely stood out to me though. It sounds good, a little bit synthetic but I'm sure it's a demo recording.

Memphis2016-01-10 22:41:28
It was both of them *I think* cannot say for sure as I wasn't there, lol. Have been following him on twitter and he said sometime last year "we mixed the trailer music ..." so I assume it was them together. Also read that they wrote new music together for the trailer.

I'm loving it and it sounds fantastic in the cinema trailers.

Mike2016-01-10 23:23:53
Memphis, that was Junkie referring to the first teaser ("Tell me...do you bleed?"). The teaser has long been confirmed to be HZ / JXL. ;)

Ds2016-01-11 17:42:47
I think the new TV spot has definitely some score in it. Sounds a lot like MoS sound palette.

Memphis reply Replies: 0 || 2016-01-11 10:51:33
Ooops I'm sorry. I thought the comic con trailer was the first.

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 6 || 2015-12-29 22:00:09
Since it'll be out in less than 3 months, time to launch hostilities... lol

Anonymous2015-12-29 22:56:02
recording sessions plz

Ds2015-12-30 16:09:18
I wonder how it's going to sound. Judging by the trailers, I think of something colder than Man Of Steel, with perhaps more electronics. More Junkie than HZ, actually. I guess we'll know soon enough, shouldn't be long until WaterTower launches the iTunes pre-order :-p

Btw, no Atli this time?

Anonymous2015-12-30 16:32:31
Nor his sister. The vocals are by Dom Lewis. Interesting. "Paranoia" Haha. lol

Edmund Meinerts2015-12-31 17:27:44
What you just described there sounds like a bit of my worst nightmare, Ds, so I hope you're wrong! :P

Have no expectations about this one either way. Doubt I'll enjoy it; perfectly ready to be proved otherwise, though...

Anonymous2016-01-10 21:39:20
anybody else expecting a two-disc release after MoS, TASM 2, and Interstellar?

Mike2016-01-10 21:53:15
I'd this point, yes, I'd be more surprised to see a single disc release than not...

Anonymous reply Replies: 0 || 2016-01-09 23:07:09
i wonder what type of drum circle musical invention they came up with this time xD

Mike reply Replies: 12 || 2016-01-08 16:18:12
Am I the only one who's noticed a conspicuous absence of interviews / comments from the composers of this project (specifically Zimmer)? Junkie XL has said a few things over the past year, but Zimmer's been nowhere to be found. He was confirmed for the project, then said about a year ago that ideally each new hero would get his / her own themes.

I already kind of figured Junkie would be taking the lead on this score, but do you think we can take Zimmer's lack of comments as his way of trying to pass the torch on for the DC universe? Or is it simply too early for interviews?

0-^-02016-01-08 16:48:36
I say that is actually for the better. Things should always be kept under wraps. Let the final work speak for itself. Why hype it up, or spoil surprises?

Mike2016-01-08 16:59:46
I agree...but I'm just thinking of it this way: if Zimmer's possibly not moved by this project (which his initial hesitance, and now his lack of comments, suggest), and Junkie XL winds up doing most of the legwork, I fear the score will kind of end up "cold" - harsh, aggressive, and manly, but devoid of much emotional core. Don't get me wrong, I like Junkie's stuff on MoS, but if his contributions had taken center stage, MoS would have been a lot less appealing. At least IMO.

I could be thinking way too hard here. We'll have to wait and see. ;)

Ds2016-01-08 17:49:24
Agree with Mike, the absence of hype, interviews, etc. is curious, but that's because the trailers were released much earlier than usual. In the next weeks we should see much more marketing, and we can expect a lot of interviews, score samples, itunes preorder, etc. They're just waiting a bit because firing all your weapons 3 months before the release would be stupid :-p

mpolonest1232016-01-08 18:46:49
It seems (in Zimmers' case at least) that his usual pre-hype for films has slowed considerably since Interstellar. In the amount of projects he's worked on since (Chappie, Le Petit Prince, Freeheld, etc.) there have been little to no interviews from him.

If JXL is in fact heading this though, I will be really interested to see what themes he conjures. As Divergent proved, he can write emotionally stirring music. Unfortunately the studios seem to insist on him writing the same drums/electronics in each of his scores. Maybe here he will have the opportunity to do something diverse.

Hybrid Soldier2016-01-08 20:20:49
The score was completed in August/September...

The film is out in 2 months & a half...

Don't worry, the "hype" is yet to come. And btw Hans really loved working on this one !

Pluto2016-01-08 21:18:04
Hey Hybrid, I know I'm jumping the gun a bit quickly here, so to speak, but what are the chances in your opinion, since you know Hans better than any of us, that he scores the "Justice League" film in November 2017? Zack Snyder is directing it and it seems Hans does like working with him, but then again, I've seen some interviews where Hans states he is not sure he wants to keep scoring superhero films, so do you know much in regard to that film and whether Hans will score it? I know Batman v Superman hasn't even come out yet, but I thought I'd ask this question. XD

Hybrid Soldier2016-01-08 22:52:14
lol you know that I actually tried to bring this up to him, out of curiosity... I got ignored, so no idea !! lol Too early maybe, but I can't imagine he, Junkie & Zack haven't talked about it...

Ds2016-01-08 23:07:25
Hahaha you guys are already speculating on Justice League, but before that we have Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman... for which no music-related announcement has been made. Are they trying to keep everything secret? Or not sure yet which path to follow? Or still trying to persuade Hans & Junkie to manage the whole thing?

Mike2016-01-09 22:22:20
"Don't worry, the 'hype' is yet to come. And btw Hans really loved working on this one !"

The second part of that is good to hear. I just know originally he didn't really want to work on this movie, and I was worried that his lack of any comments so far means he kept those feelings. ;) I wonder, will Superman get a new theme here, like Batman did with the "New Batman Theme / A Dark Knight"? I certainly do hope he decided to employ Superman's MoS theme more unabashedly than in MoS. If we can hear a reprise of "What Are You Going..." in a grandiose rescue or action scene, I'll be a happy guy. ;)

As for Justice League, I wouldn't be surprised if Hans ends up spearheading the project. It seems like they want to give the DC universe musical consistency - something Marvel hasn't been able to say for itself until very recently.

Hybrid Soldier2016-01-09 22:50:38
Even if Hans wouldn't compose "Justice League", Junkie would return for sure...

Let's not forget he worked on MOS and Bat V Sup, but also did 300 ROAE for Snyder (who... actually directed it)...

Mike2016-01-09 22:52:58
I wouldn't be surprised if Junkie were the main guy for Justice League, with Hans giving a roadmap of "this is how you should do this," possibly contributing a main theme and a cue or two, then letting Junkie and co. go to town. ;)

Mike2016-01-09 22:56:15
And for that matter, since Hans did say he wanted each character to have their own themes in B v S, that has to mean one thing: those themes will stay with the characters into Justice League. So presumably, the Hans / Junkie imprint will be there still by the time Justice League rolls around.
