I think Lorne was an additional composer on that score aswell (excellent OST btw)"It's good shit lieutenant" The principle is based on Thomas Newman's Bond. "Take back what's ours" and "the truth" is Ad astrahonnestly, I do get why people refer to MW2, but to be honest, it's not the same. With the amount of time I heard that score, I can say that it uses the same drums, and a pattern that is quite similar to the one used in MW2, but it is not a copy/paste. It's no different to me than Junkie XL re-using the same pattern of drum in all of his recent scores since Mad Max. When it comes from the same composer, I guess it's normal to have works that parts that similar from a score to another. Just think of John Murphy who re-use his powerful theme from Sunshine in a lot of his scores (28 weeks later, kick-ass, etc).

Actually I'm quite glad he re-used the themes from Mancina as that was, to me at least, a big miss for BB2 even though Rabin and Jablonsky did a great job. It's like doing a James Bond movie without the Bond theme. It might be good, but it miss the little something that gel everything together. ;) I really like what Lorne did on this one. Even though he re-used the theme, he made them his own, in a similar way he did with MI Fallout, while sometime paying homage to the original ones. ;) My 2 cents.
Not really familiar with either Mancina’s BB score or MW2, but I’m really enjoying this. It’s like an old-school MV score filtered through Lorne’s sound. The main tune (which I’m guessing is Mancina’s) is a lot of fun, particularly when paired with the choir.

And as for Ad Astra, the villain motif in “Take Back What’s Ours” sounds like it was directly lifted from the space scenes of that score.can I see the clip? is it on YouTube?can I see the clip? is it on YouTube?I love the score. It is action packed and to the point.

I saw his orchestra clips as well but I wonder why he actually spends the money and effort for orchestra when the end product sounds (as usually) 100 percent sample library. All the dynamics of real players are gone in the final mix so why bother with orchestra at all...I'm highly disappointed by the score... Lorne went the very easy way and recycled the MW2 score as well as the Mancina theme in almost every track. Like seriously... the only thing u here is MW2, Main Theme and lot of rustle-synth score. 1/10! No effort went in this score and I dont say that often.
As for Ad Astra, unfortunately i can't hear anything from Ad Astra aswell :/ It's just MW2 mixed with Mancinas themes for me. And the cues from MW2, they aren't just drums, all the guitars, melodies, vibes, even the choir or the voices are included. The above mentioned cues from MW2 are not complete, there are plenty of them, but these will give you the idea of what we've mentioned. Again, i'm not mad, i'm happy that a wider audience can hear these cues, but then again, on MW2 they sounded better and fresher than on the BB3 score (i mean the quality of the recordings - you can hear the cues and instruments more directly. On the BB3 score it sounds like being in a bathroom hearing to the MW2 score). And as i said earlier, i would like to understand or know what Lorne thought about using all these cues. Time pressure? Unused opportunity for a wider audience? And then again that synth-sound even using a real orchestra :/@ Mr Tweedy:

MW2 has hundred of cues, which has all the special atmosphere and sound-effects, but try listen to these cues to understand what i and others mean:

- Guerilla Tactics
- Guerilla
- Contingency
- Breach
- Retreat and Reveille

Funny thing, play the cue "Guerilla Tactics" from MW2 and let Shazam try to find out what track that is. It shows me as "Lorne Balfe - We're Dangerous People" from BB3 :DI really like this score!
Sure he used Mancina's Theme, that's allright cool, I don't hear anything similar to Ad Astra....don't know why somebody compare this score with Ad Astra....
That MW2 sounds are very great, he don't copy himself, he just used the Drums, what's definitely be OK!!

I don't know why people always want to compare scores....Everybody use his own Temp Music sometimes, that's normal! Please could you give me the exact name of the track from MW2 that is used in BB3? I’d like to compare both!I love Lorne´s music and all, but I am genuinely wondering, why they decided to re-use MW2 so much in the score
as for the drums, yes, i would understand. but the orchestra? you're recording the strings from a real orchestra, so why the downgrade in sound-quality?Because that parts are sampled drums and there are no real?i don't know what to think about the use of mw2. i mean, i love his work for mw2, it's TOO good to be just a score for a game, a wider audience should hear this, so i'm kind of happy to hear some parts of it here. BUT somehow, it's kind of a lazy move just to copy that 1:1. some cues are untouched and some cues are layered with some themes of mancina. i would be interested to know what was he thinking while doing this?

i followed his video uploads on his social media channels, where he showed some snippets of the orchestra and i truly loved that. but while hearing at the score, i'm dissappointed to hear the quality as it sounds like synth. i mean that typically Balfe synth sound quality. if he uses truly orchestra, than it's a shame and pitty that it sounds like synths in the end. he needs a better recording or mixing or whatever to get rid of that synth-quality-design and having the true-orchestra feelingMancina's theme + Ad Astra + MW:2= Bad boys for Life. Please enlighten me on how Bad Boys 3 sounds the same as Lego Batman or Genius: Picasso

Does anyone know where you could find the variations on Duck Shoot, specifically the one during the King's death in Episode 2?

Pablo2018-11-24 08:54:47
Looking for that one too, season 2 "future king" is very similar

Ahmad reply Replies: 2 || 2016-11-30 05:55:40
Does anyone else hear a hint of Arcade/Terraforming from Man Of Steel in Duck Shoot? The woodwind/flute starting 2:25 specifically. Really interesting.

Waymann2016-12-07 21:46:44
I heard that too!!

Mike Trindade2018-08-27 14:01:10
Inception theme too...

Rup's is scoring Aquaman!

George2018-01-22 19:56:14
Source???? If true I'm pumped. No more of that Elfman crap lol

Joshua2018-01-22 20:20:39
Can't divulge the source. But it's happening.

George2018-01-22 20:31:14
Lol okay I trust you, its awesome how RGW has broken from the comedic scores and is getting some really good opportunities to create some pretty incredible music

Joshua2018-01-22 21:57:00
I completely agree!

olive2018-01-23 02:09:08
I hope he does a better job than in WW. I like the main theme, but I'm not much of a fan of the RGW score. The most striking moments of it are those in which it mentions King Arthur or The Last Samurai.

Miralsice2018-01-27 11:51:50
It would be great. But I can't believe it without any proofs or sources.

Joshua2018-03-07 21:48:04
@Miralsice it's official now.

That's good.

Is there anybody who knows the chronological order of the 2 seasons scores? I've seen the show, but I can't figure it out.

Ian reply Replies: 3 || 2018-01-19 05:08:37
Jeez, I knew Lorne worked on this, and my assumption was that his contribution was fairly substantive, but I didn't realize he worked on every single cue (at least those on the OST). I'm not sure how I feel about that "Music by Rupert Gregson-Williams" credit now (I know it has everything to do with contracts, but I'm thinking about the principle / artistic integrity side).

Edmund Meinerts2018-01-19 10:21:06
I mean, Tony Clarke and Evan Jolly are on practically every single cue as well. My gut feeling is that these aren't fully accurate credits yet.

james (now james callahan)2018-01-20 02:01:35
This is one of those scores in which all composers receive credit for all cues even though they have not composed each note of music. This happens all the time in rcp (Kung Fu Panda, Batman v Superman, Megamind, BossBaby, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight).

james (now james callahan)2018-01-20 02:09:23
PS: the assumption that everything is Balfe is subjective. In the same way that you drew the conclusion that he is the composer of everything and the credit of RGW is doubtful, I could also say that Balfe did nothing and RGW did everything. Or that no one has done anything and almost everything
in the score is the result of the work of these additional composers.
The credits do not elucidate anything in this case.

Sounds very Balfe to me ! Duck shoot ! All sounds very 13 Hours . Excellent score either way !

Kalman reply Replies: 1 || 2016-12-01 18:17:36
Does anyone know why this score is not available on CD at most sites? Even at amazon they say it ships in 2-3 weeks. At most of international amazon sites it is out of stock. At e-bay I could only find one copy. Other online stores either don't list it or it is out of stock too. I find it a bit strange considering it was released about two weeks ago by Sony which is not a small label.

I am way more looking forward to Hans' smaller works and releases (like The Crown and Planet Earth) than his upcoming big ones like Inferno. I feel like there are two sides of him now, and the shows and films that are smaller do not pressure him to emulate that stupid generic Hollywood action sound. Stuff like this still reminds me of his older work.

fixed2016-10-11 00:01:15
You're right. Also, Hans's old co-work like here (Balfe & Rupert G-W) still better than CHAPPiE's

AndrewM2016-10-13 06:43:12
Didn't know Balfe was also doing this ? Any sample of the score yet ?

Does anyone know the name of the tracks that you hear in episode 2 when King George dies and the scenes following this event ? Can't seem to find it on the score... It's a different variation on The Duck Shoot and Main theme. Sounds even more beautiful than the version on the album.

Vivien2016-11-07 10:27:53
Well, the answer is in your question, it's a variation of "Duck shoot".

Waymann2016-11-07 12:36:32
Too bad... I watched the whole series now and there is I belief more music that is not included in the official release.

Hybrid Soldier2016-11-07 19:15:28
lol series like that have like 4 to 6 hours written for them... OSTs are usually 1 hours...

Felix2016-11-07 20:01:07
@Hybrid

Somebody persons don't know it...lol

Do you know what Lorne did ok this here, at first it stands additional composer & now co-composer?!

Waymann2016-11-08 09:05:06
I do know this, but it's kind of frustrating when you hear good music in the series and they are not included in the soundtrack. Instead some boring uninteresting tracks are included. Of course these soundtrack albums need to be a good listening experience for the big crowd...

Rupert scoring Wonder Women!!!!!!

Jim2016-11-01 21:00:46
Yeah? Where's source?

Joshua2016-11-01 21:35:11
Out of respect to my source's job I cant say. But its legit.

Anonymous2016-11-02 01:29:04
At least it's not Wonder Woman. Wonder Women is probably one of those lame knock-off movies that opens at the same time as a major blockbuster. Probably about a group of women who gain superpowers after a toxic accident...

Joshua2016-11-02 02:56:34
Whoops. Typo, my bad.

Everan2016-11-02 03:16:56
Oh God, I hope this is true! He can use Zimmer's theme and with the small excerpts of Hacksaw Ridge, he'll rock!

Diana2016-11-02 03:51:18
Calling bullshit on Joshua. "Out of respect". Mhm. Ok.

Paul2016-11-02 09:51:04
So... if this is true then Rupert is finally becoming recognised and in demand? That's really nice.

This track sounds just like time/journey to the line. Did Hans actually work on this or is it just his name?

Mike2016-10-13 17:46:16
Same question...maybe they temped "Safe Now" and that's where the Hans part comes from... :P But he did very possibly do it anew, for all we know.

ei182016-10-13 22:15:07
Yea, my first thought was "Safe Now" when I listened to this.

Hybrid Soldier2016-10-13 22:16:01
Really guys ? To me it was more Tron Legacy... lol

MB2016-10-14 00:46:58
Yeah, for me it's like basic Tron:legacy theme. But with some interesting strings on background AND Thin red line/Time/safe now element.

Miguel2016-10-14 03:12:23
Where do you think Trin copied from ! The maestro obviously

ei182016-10-14 07:03:15
Did Hans work on the score? I remember when he was first announced, but I thought I saw recent promotional material with only Rupert's name on it.

Also it is for sure a mix of Safe Now and Tron. Melody is more Safe Now and the sound of it is more Tron. Not sure if that makes any sense.

Hybrid Soldier2016-10-14 10:30:53
Hans worked on it.
