Exactly - Lego batman could easily be for any D.C. Film not just for an animation . One of my favoritesGot to agree with you . Legit batman is in my top 5 for sure . It out a lot of super hero film soundtracks to shame . Excellent scoreWell.. I saw the movie, and I liked though not as much as the trilogy, but its very enjoyable in its own right. Capture much more of the firsts movies feeling that OST did. What I think I missed the most was Verbinski's weird sensibilities, grittiness and timming, but oh well as long as he doesn't want to return to this series, it will be something to miss for ever. <br><br>As for the Zanelli's score I loved it. I think is much better than Curse of the Black Pearl, which I think is the one we should compare with. Remember this new movie is, in theory the 1st one of a new part of the saga, so... compare it to AWE I think is very unfair... Not just the characters but the story itself must earn the epicness just as AWE did, thats how Zimmer desceibed it at the time. So this new one is the lowest end of Pirates epicness yet, or at least is the way I see it. If they keep doing more and Zenlli is still there, I'm sure it'll have to grow in scope and reach AWE highs and maybe even more.Agree with Edmund, (Shrek, Ice Age, Kung Fu Panda, Jungle Book...,) but each to his own... <br>What's the name of that celestial music when Volmer gives Hannah a new dress and says to her "You're a woman now" ?
I can think of like fifty animated scores that beat out Lego Batman, but okayI Was Just Trying To Be Brave ,Wonderful.Agreed . Apart from how to train your dragon , Lego batman is second best animation score alsoIt's not in the OST release... :/Do anyone know what was that soundtrack that plays at opening scene? There where The Flying Dutchman rises from the sea, adn will and Henry have a little discourse. I think it`s some variation of "one day".
I love this musicStill doesn't beat Lego Batman for best soundtrack this year. But a close secondI saw the movie tonight and I think that the music is great on the album, but in the movie it's fantastic. It gives something special and something extra to a lot of scenes. I think Zanelli did a great job on the score, with the use if new and old themes."This is the best score of the franchise since At World's End."<br><br>Watch out you don't trip over that low bar. ;)Maybe because it is IDENTICAL the another theme of the same series?
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I will soon, but I've heard the soundtrack and I have only one thing to say. This is the best score of the franchise since At World's End. I had tears in my eyes every time an old theme played. I liked the score for On Stranger Tides, but I didn't like how it relied too much on older themes. I appreciate this score for not using the Ship battle theme and the rolling cage chase motif which I'm kinda tired of hearing them. I love the clever use of One Day as a theme for Henry Turner. Of course, everytime Jack's Themes (both the intro theme, the cello theme, and his DMC theme) and He's A Pirate show up, I can't help but smile and jump up and down. What about the new stuff? A lot of people have criticized Salazar's Theme for sounding like Blackbeard. It does don't get me wrong, but Zanelli isn't the first person to do this. The Winter Soldier is derived from Why So Serious. Optimus Prime's theme is IDENTICAL to the Knights March from King Arthur. Discombobulate from Sherlock Holmes, Absurdity from The Lone Ranger, and The Red Capes Are Coming from Batman v. Superman ALL SOUND THE SAME. They're awesome, but similar. Why is it so bad now? I like the rock elements in Salazar's theme and it makes it quite scary. Carina's Theme (The Brightest Star in the North) is also the main theme of the movie and it is perfect beyond belief. Her theme very much resembles past love themes, but it has a sense of herorism to it. I always gravitate to composer's themes for female characters (John Williams with my girls from Star Wars). The new adventure theme is epic! It does sound like He's A Pirate, but it is very catchy. I don't know what the score sounds like in the movie, but it sounds really good on the official soundtrack. To end this, all the action music is incredibly fun. Hans should be proud. Here are my top 5 favorite tracks:<br><br>1. Beyond My Beloved Horizon<br>2. The Brightest Star in the North<br>3. No Woman Has Ever Handled My Herschel<br>4. My Name is Barbossa<br>5. The Dying GullThe orchestrators are the same.<br><br>You really think the other composers aren't busy enough these days ? It was 10 YEARS ago ! lol*necessary (sorry about my english)This composing lacks on every important aspect that make a film music score so nessesary to the movie itself. This music has no evolution, has no entity or identity.<br><br>You only know that you are listening the "WONDER WOMAN" ost when you listen the references to the now mythical (Zimmer) theme from Batman v Superman. And when this theme sounds in this composing it feels totaly out of place, really a shame.<br><br>Beyond, this music could easily work with another summer blockbuster like Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean or a generic action flick.<br>For years Iíve been defending "DC" music works against the Marvelís (MCU) soul-less soundtracks. And now after three awesome ost (DCEU) I have to eat my words.<br>Is not necessary to talk about how great are Man of Steel, Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad (ok, this last less, but with a epic main theme). You only need to listen Rupert Gregson-Williams Wonder Woman, and then play one of this three compositions.<br><br>But the most disappointing thing, is the great missed oportunity with the Wonder Woman Theme last year. That exotic tone, that woman strengh that you feel when you are listen this epic theme. Here all this feelings are lost. At the end, another Zimmer-Like Šlbum. <br>But like always in the "Zimmer-Like" longtime Šlbum library, not that height, not that quality, because if Wonder Womanís score remebers us something, is one and clear truth: Only Exists One Hans Zimmer.<br>What I don't understand is why couldn't they at least aim for the best soundscape this franchise have had by bringing the rest of the team from AWE of composers, arrangers and orchestrators back. If we look at AWE, apart from Zimmer, there was Zanelli, Jackman, Glennie-Smith, Balfe, ÷rvarsson, Gire and Sponsler on board. If they could choose one lead composer in Zimmer's absence, then whatever some dude wrote would at least sound interesting because of the colorful instrumentation and big, fresh orchestral sound AWE had. Or maybe, just rearrange old themes from the other movies in true AWE style would work just as well. There's plenty of material from POTC 1 that hasn't been used in the other films, and much of it would shine if orchestrated and performed in AWE's sonic fashion rather than the cheap sound the first film had.

So... Film Music Reporter is reporting that Zimmer, Shea and Klebe will score Blue Planet II. If it's anything like Planet Earth, I will be one happy individual.

iMe2017-03-28 07:49:41
Bring on that "Blue Planet II Suite"! Can't wait! ;-)

Cannot wait! Planet Earth II was so good, and I'm so pumped for Blue Planet II!

Is that suite all Zimmer wrote here, or was he involved in other tracks, too? "We are the Designers" sounds like him, and his Facebook page posted it as music "he" wrote along with Jasha Klebe and Jacob Shea.

Hi all, stunning music out here, I am so fancy in Hans music.
Anyone has a clue what is the Menu music from Blu-ray edition of PE II? I am pretty sure I have heard it before, Shazam can't find it, I am guessing ... By the time I was looking deep in my memory I remembered :) It is "Arrival of the Birds"

I've listened to the score now several times, and i have to say that it really blows me away. It is SO beautiful, has its themes, its complexity, the fun-factor, the drama, everything in it. It's like a phenomenal journey when you've listend to the whole score. It's so good that I'm actually shocked that it's not hyped by the fans or recognized that much and that SUCH a quality is being used for a documentary. It sounds like a superb blockbuster with a HUGE score. To Jacob Shea and Jasha Klebe: thank you VERY much for this amazing and beautiful work. You guys are so talented and i'm so excited to hear more and more from you in the future. And to everyone else here: Give it a listen, it is an amazing work and score!

Am I the only one, or do I sense a bit of "Gravity" in Chinstrap Penguins" and a bit of "Avatar" in Singing Indri? The end of Chinstrap Penguins even has that "airlock sudden ending" sound that was prevalent in Gravity.

Joshua reply Replies: 4 || 2016-10-18 02:38:54
There's a couple chords rattling around in there that sound very Trevor Rabin-ish. I love what I'm hearing so far.

Sean2016-11-13 21:15:17
Totally agree. From what I've read Zimmer and Rabin worked closely together in the past, and I get the vibe that Zimmer has just ripped a lot off from him.

Edmund Meinerts2016-11-14 02:44:30
More like the other way around, I'd think...I mean yeah, Rabin does have a recognizable enough style, but he pulls a LOT of tricks from Zimmer.

rockhound2016-11-14 10:23:48
zimmer and rabin didnt work closely in the past. the only time rabin worked on a zimmer score was Days of Thunder and zimmer worked only on Armageddon, but with gregson-williams and jablonsky were 2 zimmer guys involved. i think rabin got more influenced by mark mancina. the choir in Deep Blue Sea for example has the same sound as the choir in Twister and also the orchestrations in alot of scores have the same style. i guess don harper is one reason for that. if u listen to rabins solo song album Can't Look Away or the Yes album Talk, you can hear the trevor sound and style of theme/melody writing, which you also hear in his scores. its all over the place.

Brent2016-11-15 16:59:49
I actually very much hear Jablonsky in the first track. The percussion sounds like it's ripped straight from the first Transformers film.

Watched the first episode. Must say Jasha and Jacob have done a really good job. Really liked the "Albtross Dance" and "The March of the Red Crabs". And the main theme is used in all the right places effectively with different variations and moods.

rockhound2016-11-07 22:57:55
i have to agree. very beautiful effective music. hans' main theme is very strong and the suite at the beginning fits perfectly. at the end, right before the diaries, the suite is a bit different, because the end has just the choir without the drums/percussions. sounds beautiful. some action and suspense music sounds like typical rcp music, but the rest is very lovely, especially the emotional parts. these moments have nice melodies and fantastic orchestration.

It could be a great opportunity to compare two BBC natural documentaries soundtracks maked by top level film music composers. Which one is better, Hans Zimmer & team "Planet Earth II", or Steven Price "The Hunt". For me it's something very interesing.

Morgan Joylighter2016-11-03 05:15:24
I hardly think Steven Price deserves to be considered anywhere near the same level as Zimmer yet. Or probably ever.

price2016-11-03 12:48:35
Maybe not, but from what we've heard, The Hunt is a far more satisfying soundtrack.

These dull tunes sound like library music from a company that mass produces generic cookie cutter TV soundtracks, rather than a crafted score.

Paul2016-11-03 15:32:38
I wouldn't say Price is lower level composer. His style and approach is completely different from Hans'. Price and Zimmer are incomparable. But there's one thing to say about Price - he hasn't done anything original since Gravity and hasn't stepped away from the same sound patterns. I mean, yes it's been only three years, but seriously, at least little changes could have been made. Fury, The Hunt and Suicide Squad all sound the same. Melodically they don't, but if we talk musical structure - Price's works are identical. Yet, score for The Hunt corresponds to the visuals very nicely. I'm pretty sure the same is with Planet Earth II.

qnebra2016-11-05 00:42:52
Paul - I compare only scores and working in series, not style of composers.

Very, very nice tracks!! thanks!

Mike2016-10-29 02:31:10
I can honestly say I love all three of them! Zimmer's suite reminds me in style of "The Egg Travels" from Dinosaur by James Newton Howard.

aldan2016-10-29 03:28:39
@Mike except that The Egg Travels is far more better, more original, more inspring, and more original than this Zimmer's two note, unoriginal, trailer music piece that i must say, to be honest, will fit the picture just nicely.

Joshua2016-10-29 04:31:28
You know what else is unoriginal? Using the word original three time in one sentence.

rockhound2016-10-29 07:49:48
part of the suite is the music from the extended trailer and yes, the music fits perfectly to the images. zimmers main theme is simple, but very lovely. also the other 2 tracks are nice.

0-^-02016-10-29 21:36:16
Been a while since the man wrote something uplifting and positively spirited like this. The later half of the suite is full of win.

Miguel2016-10-30 06:20:27

Hybrid...or anybody: is there a particular reason that, whenever Hans lands projects like these, he typically ends up just doing the main theme? I guess that makes it less pressing on his time, obviously, but is it monetary? Is it that he wants to give a gig to some of his fellow composers? Pretty much any time you hear Hans is working on TV or a video game, "main theme by" is a given, while the score is usually someone else (except Through the Wormhole, maybe).

Mike2016-10-29 19:48:54
I would guess it's a combo of all those things...This way, they have a big overarching musical piece for the show and have Zimmer's name on the credits, while not requiring him to devote months to the series.

And as an aside, I prefer his work on TV and video games sometimes to what he does in movies. I like all of it, usually, but with TV and games he seems more willing to go into straight power-theme territory (IMO, what the man does best), and technicalities about doing things "differently" and being experimental don't get in the way as much.
