I could have sworn I had heard the Solomon theme and some of the same
Chords that Kraemer had used...
My mistake lol

And Balfe does seem like a genuinely nice person. Hell he even takes the time to put out unreleased music, not something most composers do.
That is exactly why I hate when people take personal jabs at composers (usually at Junkie XL for some reason). Itís fine to not like the music, everyone has different tastes, but donít criticize a composer for writing what he was asked to write.I agree! He actually invited me to come to a recording session in London for this film, man it killed me that I couldnít afford to go. But I was so thankful he even thought to ask! Top notch guy.Say what you want about Balfe but he's a really nice guy, and always answers my questions on FB and others on twitter.I believe him as I didn't hear anything from Kraemer.I asked Balfe on Facebook if he used any of Kraemers theme and he said no
I Know, Hybrid, just sayin' that i a fan of Benjamin Wallfisch's music Scores since lights Out to Blade Runner 2049 and i say this is another excelent Work from WallfischOne-worded track titles! Reminds me of early days of Media Ventures!

They sure tried real hard to keep spoilers out of these, didn't they? I suppose I'd take this approach over Latin or irrelevant names, though a little bit of pun and flavor wouldn't have hurt.So you can't wait to hear the score but you already say it's a great score ?

#inceptionAnother great score from Benjamin Wallfisch can't wait to hear the score & see the movie

Music By Benjamin Wallfisch
Additional Music By John Paesano & Adam Hochstatter
Orchestra Conducted By Tim Williams
Orchestrations By Peter Bateman & David J. KrystalWhy is people saying that Balfe kept some original music from Kraemer? I have listened to the whole score and I didn't found any quotes. Maybe in The Syndicate there is some kind of reference to Kraemer's theme but I don't really know.

And I have to say that I was expecting Balfe to shine on this one, but I ended up disappointed. There are some great action cues, and I like some things he does with the main theme like the use of choir, but the score as a whole feels like a reuse of many things I have already heard and ends up feeling repetitive and a bit boring.
And note that this is my opinion so don't jump into my neck saying this is the best score in the saga, because I think Rogue Nation is a really big step above this. I hope that at least it works in the context of the movie, which I suppose it does really well...
Re-listening the score again...Ö.Have to say, Lisbeth Scott's beautiful vocals are definitely one of the highlights. She's amazing. On par with Lisa Gerrard.

Speaking of, what the hell happened to MV/RC guys incorporating female vocalists in their scores? I've always loved that approach. But it seems that it kinda went away......replaced by more and more sound design! So except for this score (and Steve's Your Highness) is there a recent big MV/RC score that actually features female vocals? Maybe I'm missing some...Ö..I was wondering that is there a Hans Zimmer library you need to license from Remote Control.

I kinda saw a composer's Cubase setup and he labeled one of his folders, HZ STR, HZ BRS, and HZ Choir.

Does Zimmer have a brass and choir sample library you need to have a license for?Easy now Mr. Anonymous, no need to be so superior.
I looked up that tracklist, and couldn't find 'Tai Lung Escapes' specifficaly listed, hence asking. Closest there is 'Shogun Mongol Prison', but it's too short to be the whole scene.

But I'll try to get a hold of that complete version somehow, looks super interesting. Its just three short bursts of sound, really.Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention there's also a short track that plays when K walks through Las Vegas past the statues and beehives, but is not listed on the cuesheet
It should be noted that I think a few tracks like 'new model' are put together with the track that came before it on the CD.

Ossuary
Return to Sappers
Must Protect the Child
Bomb
Like a Real Girl
Luv in Apartment
Mesa Hijack

I think are the only real missing tracks, and some of them are pretty short anyway.I keep listening to "The Syndicat", which is what I assume to be the theme for The Syndicate. Honestly one of the better villain themes i've heard in a whileFlight has a new Andrew Kawczynski credit...We're getting there!Yeah, you're probably right.

I guess I thought of it as a Powell cue mostly because between the two main composers, it matched more with his style than Hans', but yeah it's probably Jackman's stuff.

Either way, I love that track.Yeah

BTW, John Paesano is credited as additional music

Has anyone managed to order this tracks in chronological order? I'm trying to do it myself but there are a lot of track that I can't place, so any help would be great. Thanks

mpolonest123 2018-03-26 00:20:14
I want to second this. Probably one of my favorite scores of the past 5 years

mpolonest123 2018-06-23 21:35:25
This was such a nightmare to try and break down. Much like IT, there are dozens of short cues that bleed into each other. Not 100% Complete (missing 5 or 6 cues) but for the most part in correct order...

Gore2018-06-24 01:37:18
Are you using the OST to break this down or all cues

mpolonest123 2018-06-24 02:28:26
Iím using the ASCAP titles in conjunction with the film. Certain cues on the OST are stitched together with several shorter cues (Lipstick and Terrible Darkness for example) and are out of order. I think Hybrid posted the film order.

Hey Guys, Benjamin Wallfisch Has Released The Soundtrack Details Of Annabelle Creation In Film Music Reporter With The Track list And The Soundtrack Photos plus In Cd Version Will Be Released At Silva Screen Records & Digital Version At WaterTower Music.

Waymann2017-08-03 16:06:34
The score will be released digital tomorrow. The samples sound like a mix of orchestral sad/mysterious music en typical horror underscore.

Felix reply Replies: 8 || 2017-02-26 01:08:00
After I saw the movie I can explain a little bit:

Hannad & Volmer (Like the Opening Title)
Our Thoughts Exactly
Waiting
Volmer Institut
Nobody Ever Leaves
Terrible Darkness
Lockhart's Letter
Magnicifent, Isnt It?
Bicycle
Lipstick
Zutritt Verboten
Volmer's Lab
There is Nothing Wrong With You People
Clearly He's Lost His Mind
The Rite
Feuerwalzer
Actually I'm Feeling Much Better (End Credits)

So I think it would be the chronological order :)

Tim2017-02-26 05:41:10
No really original . Gore should have used Zanelli or Balfe

Felix2017-02-26 09:56:35
Why?! Wallfisch did a really good job

Hybrid Soldier2017-03-05 00:27:17
The final correct order is =>

Clearly He's Lost His Mind
Our Thoughts Exactly
Nobody Ever Leaves
Volmet Institut
Waiting
Terrible Darkness
Bicycle
Lipstick
Zutritt Verboten
Lockhart's Letter
There's Nothing Wrong With You People
The Rite
Feuerwaltzer
Magnificent, Isn't It?
Actually I'm Feeling Much Better
Hannah & Volmer

The only mix of "unchronological cues" is "Terrible Darkness", which has short parts from later in the film. "Hannah & Volmer" is the end credits piece.

Edmund Meinerts2017-03-05 01:29:32
Funny, the chronological order is almost the exact reverse of the album order! Now all the horror stuff comes first and the action and thematic cues are more towards the second half, whereas on the album it was more the other way around. I think I prefer it this way, that way the score builds up to the good stuff rather than shooting its wad before the album is halfway over (so to speak...). It's a good score with some great material, but a lot if it is VERY hard listening, especially "Lipstick".

Also, Hybrid, where does "Volmer's Lab" go?

Hybrid Soldier2017-03-05 10:03:29
Ha ! Forgot it !

It's between Lockhart's Letter & There's Nothing Wrong with You People.

Also, fun fact, in the End Credits of the movie there's a credit :

"Ribbons"
Composed by Hans Zimmer
Arranged by Benjamin Wallfisch
Performed by the Chamber Orchestra of London, Conducted by Gavin Greenaway

Some early ideas Hans wrote did end up in the score. Ribbons is basically the beginning of the waltz in "The Rite", at 2:08.

isildur2017-03-06 06:22:43
Interesting. So, it's just the beginning of the Waltz? How long is this "Ribbons" cue? Do you think we'll get to listen to it anytime soon?

FunnyML2017-06-04 11:26:35
My analysis goes like this:
56 cues in total, only released cues are mentioned here

02 Clearly He's Lost His Mind 3 1:55-End
04 Clearly He's Lost His Mind 1 0:00-1:10
06 Our Thoughts Exactly
10 Nobody Ever Leaves
14 Volmer Institut 2 1:18-End
18 Waiting
27 Terrible Darkness 1 0:00-1:46
28 Volmer Institut 1 0:00-1:18
30 Bicycle
32 Lipstick 1 0:00-2:08
33 Lipstick 2 2:08-End
37 Zutritt Verboten
42 Lockhart's Letter
44 Volmer's Lab
45 Terrible Darkness 2 1:46-End
46 Clearly He's Lost His Mind 2 1:10-1:55
48 There Is Nothing Wrong With You People
50 The Rite
53 Feuerwalzer
54 Magnificent, Isn't It
55 Actually I'm Feeling Much Better
56 Hannah And Volmer

JBSO992017-06-04 16:37:00
@FunnyML That new tracklist made me revisit the score and I realized (again) it's so amazing. I haven't watched the movie but I want to listen to the complete score to hear more of these beautiful melodies

Hideo reply Replies: 1 || 2017-05-28 18:03:39
What's the name of that celestial music when Volmer gives Hannah a new dress and says to her "You're a woman now" ?

FunnyML2017-06-04 11:29:36
One of many unreleased cues, so we don't know (yet).

mpolonest123 reply Replies: 0 || 2017-04-08 20:31:33
A little late to the game but I just wanted to praise this score a bit. When I first heard Hans wasn't going to be working on this project my heart immediately sank. Anytime Zimmer works with Verbinski, the end result is always spectacular (even Rango is very enjoyable, despite being a huge mess). I'm so glad I took the time to listen to this one though, Wallfisch delivered in HUGE spades!

Both themes introduced are marvelous, and it definitely speaks to Wallfisch's talent that he is able to utilize each idea without getting repetitive. One of the biggest bonuses is the variety of instrumentation and styles, ranging from the more traditional horror tropes to incorporating some beautiful vocals and even a waltz. If I had any complaints in regards to the album, its that it is far too short. By the time it ended I was hungry for more.

Hearing that he is going to score IT and Annabelle 2, I'm both intensely interested and a little nervous that he might get pigeonholed in horror. If you haven't heard his music for the Peter Pan stageplay (on Apple Music) definitely check it out, the man can write fantasy pretty damn good!

7:15 and onward reminds me of something, but I can't pinpoint it. Does anyone else hear a similarity to another score? It feels like Pirates and maybe something else?

Patrick2017-02-07 06:58:42
The Brass at 7:19 is very similar to Broken Arrow, but I guess you are talking about the staccato parts?

Edmund Meinerts2017-02-07 15:47:08
The rhythm and low brass both remind me a little bit of Dark Knight Rises (some parts of Bane's music).

Hey Hybrid, is Hans overseeing this or completely Ben's project?. Am I mistaken or wasn't this the horror film Hans was supposed to do?

Hybrid Soldier2016-12-10 16:52:45
Hans was going to score it but the score production happened exactly at the moment of the tour so Hans let Ben do it.
