@Hybrid: Is true Tom go to compose Godzilla: King of the Monsters?

Yeah, just got announced on Film Music Reporter, although the rumor was flying around long before that. Really disappointing for me, since the director Michael Dougherty usually works with Douglas Pipes who is a great, underappreciated composer.

So... long story short, it actually looks like Tom will NOT be doing Godzilla after all, according to director Michael Dougherty. Check the director's Twitter account. Even though I enjoy Tom's music, I'm much more excited about the prospect of a Douglas Pipes Godzilla score (or the return of Desplat, tbh).

Too bad, but I hope this means Desplat is back.

I'm not upset (I like Junkie, but I LOVE Desplat's), but i HOPE for Desplat or Pipes

Call me crazy but I really would have been interested to see what Tom's Godzilla would sound like under the direction of someone with good musical taste such as Dougherty.
Not really a huge fan of Desplat's work but I would definitely kill to hear Douglas Pipes take on this project.
And I'm still trying to understand why all of his scores sound so synthetic. Melodically it's really beautiful score, but there's just something wrong with it...

Yeah well that has to do with the fact that JXL changes and tampers with the orchestral recordings.
