It is off topic, but I was really wondering. What do you think about composers doing fan mades on youtube? Do you have a favorite one?After revisiting this one, it's not as bad as I thought. Tessa is a beautiful theme (but is completely fucked over by aesthetics, with the exception of its first appearance). <br><br>Decision has an impressive amount of progression throughout the film with the finale Dinobot Charge remaining one of Jablonsky's best. The action in general is pretty fun but, similarly to TF3, it lacks the substance that TF1, TF2, and TF5's action tracks have.<br><br>Lockdown and Galvatron's themes were suitably menacing and were used effectively, and I have no idea why Jablonsky didn't carry over the Galvatron theme to TF5 as it suits the Frank Welker Megatron fairly well.<br><br>Hunted is a pretty decent action theme when the vocals are absent, and Autobots Reunite was good, but I'm not really sure what it's supposed to represent considering it only plays twice in the film. <br><br>The main problem is of course, the complete lack of thematic continuity. I don't care if this was supposed to be a soft reboot of sorts, you have to keep the themes your series is remembered for, especially if you have the same composer. Don't make an array of new ones to just be abandoned in the next film, and give the original themes one reprise each! Because of this score, it makes the Transformers series' music look like an unplanned mess that doesn't know where it's going. <br><br>Thankfully Steve attempted to rectify this in TF5 by having reprises from every corner of the series and using the original themes much more frequently, along with the Autobot themes' building progression. That score actually makes this one look better because the Autobots theme being rebuilt makes it feel like it was only absent from this score because TF4 was about them being hunted, and TF5 has them semi-repairing their relationship with humans. <br><br>But on its own, this score is definitely the weakest, and reeks of studio interference with the unoriginal sound and Imagine Dragons' involvement.what about dunkirk : ) what do you think of it?Have any cue sheets or slates surfaced for this score?...that response only made you look more suspicious, as it was so pre-programmed feeling.

Anyways, I'm definitely anticipating Denis Villeneuve's upcoming Dune film and I wonder if he'll go to Zimmer to do the project. But I think they both gave Williams Justice and did good.@HunterTech - because Cruise and the studio *really* wanted him back after Rogue Nation's success, despite the producers' initial plan for the franchise being to have each entry done by a different director. Hence, McQuarrie's condition that he'll be back as long as he does a completely different film.<br><br>And context is important because once you realise the *film itself* is heavily influenced by Nolan with a big dash of Fury Road-esque building action momentum, then the decision to have Balfe on board and the score to sound all Zimmer/RCP as opposed to more symphonic a-la Kraemer/Giacchino makes sense.
So.......why not get a new director then? I admire his efforts in trying to attempt something different for every sequel, but he's eventually gonna get tired if he keeps coming back. Plus, there's been evidence that surfaced to suggest that there was a very specific reason in Kraemer not returning, which don't necessarily contradict what McQ is saying here.<br><br>Despite all this, I'm very excited for Fallout as a whole. I've been able to enjoy films with disappointing scores before (*cough*BR2049*cough*).Mephariel, fair enough. I see your point as well.<br><br>mpolonest123, I see your point.<br><br>But looking back at the MI2 score now, compared to some recent MV/RC stuff......it's just heads and tails above them. Again, that's just my opinion. There is a clear theme here, there is an actual structure. Not just some noisy sound effects thrown in the blender.@HunterTech - McQ said at every opportunity that a condition of his coming back would be making MI Fallout as if a different director was doing it. Which is why he got a new DoP, new composer, new costume designer etcBecause that opinion is clearly wrong when Dunkirk came out in 2017.

Yes, itís definitely no Megamind, but I will say that after revisiting it; definitely not as disappointing to me as when I first heard. The issues I have are still the same (frenetic action, ADD-type scoring, Popeís cue being the strongest, etc.) but at the same time itís a very charming score when it slows the pace and lets the emotional side come forward. I will even give credit to the main theme(s), they actually get more development than Megamindís main tune. Itís a shame this score kinda got written off this year, itís enjoyable enough.

And as for the ďLoveĒ cue, that really is one of the most beautiful pieces of music Iíve heard in recent memory. Itís a great throwback to classical music with that John Williams string sound. I really wish Zimmer had written it, but understandably thatís not his style.

Conrad Pope explains the cue on his facebook. They needed something more dynamic and classical-sounding.

The editor James Ryan also commented:

"Every screening for well over 2 years the last thing we would do was work on that scene and struggle to re-edit the temp. I've never worked on a scene in any movie that had so much riding on the music. The sigh of relief and joy when you delivered your masterpiece was something I will never forget. And watching you conduct it gave me the chills (and a few tears). Bravo!"

By far the strongest piece on the album. The rest is pretty forgettable.

That's amazing to hear from the editor . Wish the rest of the score was as good as Popes piece.

Think Lego Batman is still best animation score this year . Was really looking forward to Boss Baby but seems generic .

You guys are right that "Love" is a great cue. But the rest of the score is just as good, with plenty of ideas and a very cool and memorable theme.

The issue is that this kind of scores requires some patience from the listeners, because it's too crazy, too packed, with so many twists and style variations it's difficult to fully grasp the whole thing after just a few listens.

It's just like any John Powell score for animation: absolutely great music that takes some time to fully digest. So please, give it a few more spins and some time to grow on you before you judge it!

@Mike(OTM) Not necessarily, I feel like Richard Harvey could easily have delivered something in this vein. That being said, I'm sure the production team probably had their heart set on whatever temps they used for that scene (more likely than not something that Pope either composed or orchestrated) and decided to go directly to the man himself.

It is a bit strange that they would only bring him in to do one scene, as opposed to working alongside Hans and Steve throughout. But it's not unheard of, I guess.

So "Love" was obviously done by Conrad Pope. Never heard anyone from RCP write anything remotely close to that style.

But what about the rest of the score? I can hear a lot of Hans in the theme and the action material (a lot of his action riffs and stylings from megamind) but not sure which bits Mazzaro did.

Yes ok I then had a look at Conrad Pope. That guys has orchestrated "Jurassic Park" (and many many others) so yes it seems that the "love" cue could have been completely in his hand. And note this is the first Time Conrad Pope is credited as Additional composer here, maybe this is just because of that cue... Now we need to wait for Hybrid , maybe one day we will know the answer.

He's done a few scores (Pavilion of Women is outstanding), but he's better known as a veteran orchestrator for many years for composers like John Williams, Alan Silvestri and Alexandre Desplat. In other words, he knows what he's doing. Quite unexpected for him to show up on an RCP score!
