Why never ? <br>He dislikes the saga or not interested ? I'm curious.Does anyone know why "Knight's March" is not in the original album and if there is a extended edition that has this cue?<br><br>Rogue One was last minute change on Giacchino. I would like to hear Alexandre Desplat score to make a correct analysis from both scores. Besides that and with the little time, Giacchino's score is good, in the same style from maestro Williams. <br>Solo score is more different. Maestro Williams wrote the main theme and more cues, but what make the score different is Powell. He adapts Solo theme, and some of themes the original trilogy, but he puts him own stamp. Definitely is a Star Wars Score but with Powell stamp. Something Giacchino, maybe for the time, did not develop.<br>The film, well, i will watch on DVD.graciasWhile I always liked this score, it wasn’t until recently (when I revisited the film and album) that I realized how amazing it really is. There is still nothing that tops “Evacuating London” or the “Aslan” theme in terms of modern fantasy material. Each of the themes are brilliantly interconnected with each other, but stand on their own as well. I do wish there something a bit more distinctive for the White Witch, but that’s a small complaint.<br><br>The only other score that really reminds me of this (in terms of the string writing and piano material) is “Winters Tale” by Rupert. Also a pretty solid fantasy score.
I LOVE IT!!They kept the volume of the music so low in the movie, while rouge ones was jacked up and used as a center piece rather than side music like they did for John. Johnson piece is far better, it they gave it a back seat <br>But Rogue One or Solo?<br><br>Because i remember more the music in RO after watching the movie than in Solo (well, maybe is because that theme for the character is so unispired and only i remember certain moments of the music)We are just gonna have to agree to disagree. ;-)I just said I haven't watched the movie or listened to the full score yet.
Still have to disagree, I love the new “Park Theme” and the way it sort of takes over from the classic theme. Then you have the Indominus theme, Owen’s theme, the villain theme, the family theme, the source music, etc.<br>I’ll take that any day over Lost World and JP3. Is it as good as the original score? Hell no, but not many scores are.'<br><br>The Lost World was a coherent evolution in the franchise, Williams maintains the original theme, but creates a darker and more percussive score (listen the expanded version by La La Land), because the movie isn't like Jurassic Park. And i getting appreciate more the Don Davis score for JPIII, better orchestrated than Jurassic World, both scores are FAR better than Jurassic World (one for a coherent and agressive tone and more memorable, and the other because is better orchestrated)<br><br>'And I do see the similarities between the vulture theme and those other ones listed. It’s definitely not original, but it is effective.'<br><br>I don't see any similaraties with the Avengers theme, effective?, yeah, but not memorable and i'll pick up any day than any theme in Jurassic WorldDo you remember any music outside the space chase?<br><br>Because i don't.I only watched the movie once, but the fact that I didn't take away any memorable music from Rogue One is a huge problem for a Star Wars film. I haven't listened to this score yet, but I have more hopes for this than Rogue One.Between this one and Rogue One, I'll take the last one.<br><br>Unfortunately the two scores run away from the typical sound of the franchise and at various times seem just a pastiche copy.<br><br>It's a good score, but it does not feel so natural. Even Han's theme is almost unrecognizable, forgettable and incoherent with the character. It does not have the same identity as the themes of Luke, Leia, Rey, Anakin, Jyn, Yoda or Dameron.woow! love it
It's funny that when they announced that the star wars story films would be scored by different conposers, I was like... COME ONE JOHNY GET ON IT and sure enough a year later... Same with Pan (one of his best scores in my opinion).Well, for starters, the HAN SOLO theme Williams wrote is kind of...well...meh....<br><br>And I can see where Powell had to incorporate the original Star Wars and some Empire themes....Asteroid Field being one of them.<br><br>I just kinda hoped Powell would adapt Asteroid Field into something more than whatever the hell butchery happened here....Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! When was there a flute in this score?? I just noticed there's a credit for a flute soloist, and I've listened to this score several times and never noticed a flute? Does anyone have any idea which track it might be?It's really sad how more than half of this score is just very messy bombastic sound rather than a more structured melodic/thematic approach, this coming from a hardcore Powell fan. The saddest thing is that this was THE film for him to score, full of action and chase sequences, which John has always excelled at. Here however, rather than his usual voice, it sounds as if he shies away from it and goes back to anything established by Williams every 30 seconds or so. Whenever it sounds like a cue is leading up to something interesting and exploring a new idea, it just shies away from it. This might have been on the directors/producer's side of things... or that's what I'm choosing to believe, at least. Don't get me wrong, every so often there are some sections that really do shine, this often being when Powell isn't just trying to sound Williamsy and/or referencing old SW material. Maybe I just need to give the album a few more listens. Usually happens whenever a new Powell soundtrack album is released. Not sure, though. Just by listening to Ferdinand a few times, for example, you could really feel and understand the story, its characters and their development, as their themes developed as well. This one is just a mess and feels... off.Such an inspiring track. Loved it when it was released and still love it.

I heard about Rupert Gregson Williams confirmed to score for Aquaman movie. I think it's a good decision. WW soundtrack was LIT!!

Felix2018-03-08 08:49:54
He is the best choice for this! Wonder Woman was perfect!

JBSO992018-03-08 12:36:03
I think someone like James Newton Howard would have been also great, but I love the fact that Rupert is doing it. His Wonder Woman score was really great and I hope he keeps the same level.

Edmund Meinerts2018-03-08 12:46:31
JNH would have been awesome (he does great with watery subjects) but he's already got two massive scores lined up for the rest of this year, the Fantastic Beasts sequel and Disney's Nutcracker, so doubt he would have found the time.

I'm OK with Rupert. Not an amazing choice but he does have what I consider to be the DCEU's best score under his belt (Justice League is good music, but it was the *wrong* score for this universe, and I'm just not that big a fan of Zimmer/JXL's vision for Superman, complete score or no). Hopefully Aquaman will give Rupert a chance to do his own thing a bit more, since for WW he was in the shadow of Zimmer's theme to a degree, and while he did a good job with it, the score ended up with a bit of a split personality.

Jean-Luc 2018-03-08 14:30:22
@Felix I'm Agree With You 100%!

Jean-Luc 2018-03-08 14:33:26
@JBSO99 I think you are right about James Newton Howard is a good choice too. Me too, I hope he keeps the same level too.

Jean-Luc 2018-03-08 15:01:44
@Edmund Meinerts Your points are right, but I agree with your opinion about DCEU's best score. But I was not impressed about Justice League Score by Danny Elfman, but it's been the wrong score for this universe I have seen a lot people said Danny Elfman was a jerk person because he throw away with Junkie XL's music for Justice League. I was wondering what if Junkie XL, will have a Rejected score from The Justice League score still or hold for later in the future maybe one day we will hear his unreleased tracks. I was not happy to hear about Junkie XL replaced by Danny Elfman, but I had a feeling about Danny Elfman seem rushed for editing and wrong titles for Justice League score that's not how Justice League Logo is not good enough. My opinion about Danny Elfman always changes his music style between by Action movies & Superhero movies with Downtempo, Electronic or different kind of Instruments in the past.

superultramegaa2018-03-08 15:50:52
This score just makes me think of Zimmer and Transformers. At least with the Transformers films, you get a little bit of Jablonsky's style with the complex themes, and the fast paced strings and choir with bursts of horns. You can still connect Transformers with Steamboy. Here, I don't even know what Rupert's style is supposed to be. Pretty aesthetic, and Pirates of the Caribbean/Prince of Egypt sounding composition for the island, and Transformers for the action?

I'm not even sure what he's going to do with Aquaman. Is he just going to imitate Pirates of the Caribbean the entire time? Because it's water based? I feel like a more stylized composer would work for Aquaman like JNH, Benjamin Wallfisch, or even Geoff Zanelli if they want the RCP feel. Rupert Gregson-Williams just feels like another Brian Tyler to me. Functional, somewhat memorable, but nothing we haven't heard before.

Jean-Luc 2018-03-08 17:29:55
@superultramegaa Sounds interesting to me. I don't know how sure about if Rupert Gregson Williams decide to make a new theme for Aquaman's theme or he could be same level like he did with the Wonder Woman score. I think another composer like Steve Jablonsky should join superhero movies, but funny to me He only works with Michael Bay and Peter Berg for action movies mostly. My opinion about Steve Jablonsky seem comfortable around working with Michael Bay often. But I just want to see Steve Jablonsky try to join superhero movies it's will be interesting. He has always perfected for Transformers film series.

Isn't it funny how embarassingly neoliberalist Hans Zimmer is nowadays? Back in the 1990s he was a socially conscious activist. Next - what up - a Trump fanfare, A Paul Ryan shame boogie. Nothing would be surprising for this corporate version of a composer I used to love.

Rumor: Rupert is going to score Aquaman

h t t p s ://www.reddit.com/r/DC_Cinematic/comments/7sz84q/rumor_ruper t_gregsonwilliams_to_score_aquaman/

What do you think if it's true?

JBSO992018-01-27 11:39:23
That would be great! I loved what he did in Wonder Woman and would be awesome to hear what he brings to the Aquaman universe. Also, it would be helpful to forget the Justice League score...

Is it true that Hans Zimmer made a non-accredited suite for this movie?

Wow. How cool is it that Howe who worked on this has also scored "Professor Marston & The Wonder Woman". And from the reviews it looks like his debut score for mainstream movies is spot on. Can't wait to listen to it.

Hey Hybrid, a page for this would be nice. Thanks.

For whatever reason the electric cello isn't mixed into the track which makes me wonder if it's an insert...

James2017-09-06 01:54:43
Probably. It got a lot better with the riff.

James2017-09-06 01:58:58
This track looks like many others that Powell did in his old action scores. The ending remember The Last Samurai and The Thin The Red Line.

Ahmad2017-09-10 03:21:55
When Wonder Woman's Wrath came out in the movie, I thought the sound design at 1:34 sounded familiar. Turns out, it also in "The Logic Of Tyrants" (at 0:13) from Inferno.
Very sneaky, Andrew Kawczynski!

Ahmad2017-09-10 03:22:28
Oops! Wasn't meant to post it under this topic.

Ian2017-09-11 02:03:28
Ahmad - good catch! I could definitely be wrong about this, but I think that effect originated in MoS as the theme/motif (for lack of a better term) for the World Engine.

Now that the album is out there I can easily say that I love this score. Definitely my 2nd favorite behind MoS.

Musically, much of it has that "Last Samurai/Transformers" power anthem style (with one of the themes sounding like King Arthur) but with RGW's string writing style as opposed to the bass heavy approach of those scores. The WW cello theme isn't used a whole lot, but when it gets some screen time it feels earned, and steals the show. The villain material is the weakest part, but instrumentally is pretty cool with the incorporation of the cimbalom (it reminds me slightly of Sherlock at points)

Overall, easily one of the best scores so far this year.

James D.2017-05-26 16:20:45
Where?

mpolonest123 2017-05-26 19:10:26
Just google it.

If anyone wants to custom improve this album; just swap out the Sia song for Tina Guo's cover. It makes the album end off on a much better note ;-)

PeterMusic2017-05-26 20:35:28
I agree - why didn't they include Tina's version of the theme . More of the Zimmer would have made the score much effective

theeaglesfan0052017-05-26 23:29:06
@ mpolonest123 except the Sia song is played during the end credits

JBSO992017-05-27 14:00:40
After listening to it the first time I thought this was a very good Zimmer score, but suddenly realized it was Rupert Gregson-Williams and that's a very good thing because he has been able to bring this Zimmer classic sound but with his own voice, as they said above here, with Last Samurai-like anthems and also remind me a bit of the second half of Hacksaw Ridge score, and that's great.
I specially liked No Man's Land, Wrath of Wonder Woman, Hell Hath No Fury and Lightning Strikes (well, in general, the second half is pretty awesome with many action heroic themes).
Cannot wait to hear it in the context of the movie.

JBSO992017-05-27 14:10:46
I also love the appearence of the theme in the end of Trafalgar Celebartion. Does anybody know what Action Reaction exactly is? It sounds a bit like a remix from the main theme but it could also be a part of the movie soundtrack. i don't know but it sounds cool.

Iamtommie2017-05-27 15:54:25
Maybe it's the end credits after the song

theeaglesfan0052017-05-30 23:51:44
@ JBSO99 It's the first part of the end credits

theeaglesfan0052017-05-30 23:52:36
Actually the end of Trafalgar Celebration is the start of the end credits.. then it's Action Reaction

Kalvin Koskela2017-05-31 00:06:16
So "To Be Human" will be at the end of the end credits?

JBSO992017-06-01 16:00:07
So the end credits are the end of Trafalgar Ceebration, Action Reaction and then the Sia song? It would be better if the didn't introduce the song and put the Tina Guo cover of the main theme, but sadly that won't happen.

mpolonest1232017-06-01 16:28:19
To be fair, the Tina Guo cover is really based on Is She With You, meaning it kind of has some themes/elements from BVS (Batman's theme and Lex's chords) that wouldn't make sense in context. Still an awesome song though...

GR72017-06-08 15:34:23
I like the score too.
Action Reaction is really nice and has an interesting "JXL Mad Max" vibe i'd say.

MK2017-07-05 21:05:58

Sources musics :

- Berlin String Quartet ''Schatzwalzer, Op. 4"
- Ella Retford ''Molly O' Morgan''
- Jack Judge & Henry Williams '' It’s A Long Way To Tipperary''
- Lucienne Delyle ''Sous les ponts de Paris''

so, do you have informations about the placement of theses tracks into the score ?

GRZ2017-06-09 11:48:07
I'd need to watch the movie again to answer precisely, sry. ''Sous les ponts de Paris'' must be placed between No Man's Land and Fausta IMO

theeaglesfan0052017-06-10 02:07:32
1. Amazons Of Themyscira (0-3:43)
2. History Lesson
3. Amazons Of Themyscira (3:43-6:47)
4. Angel On The Wing
5. Ludendorff, Enough! (needs to be split.. first part is Steve's story.. the other is later on when this is said)
6. Pain, Loss & Love
7. No Man's Land
8. Ludendorff, Enough! (second part would go here.. just not sure where to split it exactly)
9. Fausta
10. Wonder Woman's Wrath
11. The God Of War
12. We Are All To Blame
13. Hell Hath No Fury
14. Lightning Strikes
15. Trafalgar Celebration
16. Action Reaction (first 4 minutes or so are what's actually in the first part of the credits)
17. To Be Human - Sia feat. Labrinth
18. The beginning part of No Man's Land is played here in the credits

Berlin String Quartet ''Schatzwalzer, Op. 4" > the Ball scene ?

1. Amazons Of Themyscira (0-3:43)
2. History Lesson

4. Angel On The Wing
5. Ludendorff, Enough! (2:20-5:55)
6. Pain, Loss & Love (1:30-3:50)
7. Ludendorff, Enough! (0-2:20)

Here's what i got using your list and my knowledge from seeing it 4x

I have Trafalgar Celebration ending earlier than the album version bc that's how it is in the film

There are 4 parts to the credits as well:
- 1st part being her theme (heard at the end of Trafalgar Celebration but is different in the actual credits from the album version)
- Action Reaction (album version is longer edit than actual film version)
- To Be Human
- Score suite of some sort.. Seems to be a mix of No Man's Land, We Are All To Blame, and Lightning Strikes

1 Amazons of Themyscira, Part 1
2 History Lesson
3 Amazons of Themyscira, Part 2
4 Angel On the Wing
5 Antiope Dies (Pain, Loss & Love)
6 Steve's Mission (Ludendorff, Enough!)
7 Diana Leaves Themyscira (Pain, Loss & Love)
8 Ludendorff's Strength Restored (Ludendorff, Enough!)
9 Ludendorff, Enough!
10 No Man's Land
11 Steve and Diana (Pain, Loss & Love)
12 Fausta
13 I Could've Stopped Them (Pain, Loss & Love)
14 Wonder Woman's Wrath
15 We Are All To Blame
16 The God of War
17 Hell Hath No Fury
18 Lightning Strikes
19 Trafalgar Celebration (Film End)
20 WW End Credits - Part 1
21 WW End Credits - Action Reaction
22 WW End Credits - To Be Human
23 WW End Credits - Part 4

So the finale is a combination of The God of War followed by We Are All To Blame, with more of the second half of The God of War, but then there are a few pieces I can't place.

There's a sort of alternate God of War theme when Diana is deflecting attacks with her lasso, and then a bit of Dr. Poison as her lab is blown up (not included in Fausta, it would seem).

Then it picks back up with Hell Hath No Fury and Lightning Strikes.

Anyone know anything about the missing pieces?

Medigo2017-06-16 23:01:29
Actually according to my list God of War is not separated in halves at all. But after it comes some more additional material, before Hell Hath no Fury kicks in. And I think that was just left off the CD.

I finally watched the movie, and both myself and my wife thoroughly enjoyed it. this would make agreat date movie.
Awesome Christian allegory disguised as Greek Mythology (More Zack Snyder, perhaps?)

Rupert wrote a great score, although I was surprised to hear a reference to a pick-up theme from Pearl Harbor as Diana leaves the trenches to violate No Man's Land.

Just notice a kind of a temp track from Arcade's Man of Steel in the 8th track... Check it out and tell me what you think:

(WW) https://youtu.be/chC-nTLh6aA?t=1m32s
(MoS) https://youtu.be/yuwKN5q6WjU?t=4m40s

JBSO992017-06-10 18:17:07
Yeah, it's something like that. I think this could really be a temp track because the drum rythm is almost the same, even with that strange sound after that. But I don't knw if it's intended or not. Maybe was just the typical drum rythm for an action scene. (I say this as no offense, because maybe this could be taken like that. I do like this drums but they are all very similar)

Joseph Solano reply Replies: 0 || 2017-06-08 00:54:03
I loved the score for this movie. Second best of the DCEU under Man of Steel. I love the action music and theme for Dianna. He also uses the BVS just enough without getting boring. I wish the tracks weren't so long though. And if I'm correct, these are the themes I heard:

1. Dianna's Theme
2. Steve Trevor's Theme (Love Theme?)
3. Ares' Theme
4. Ludendorff's Theme
5. Ella's Theme (only in the movie)
6. Doctor Poison's Theme

Also, did anyone else catch the reference to the Batman theme from Dawn of Justice at the beginning of the movie (Track 1)?

Darrell reply Replies: 7 || 2017-06-03 16:10:16
Avengers: Age of Ultron by Danny Elfman and Brian Tyler + Thor: The Dark World, TMNT and Power Rangers by Brian Tyler + The Last Samurai and Gladiator by Hans Zimer + Transformers by Steve Jablonsky + Many other scores similar at these = Awful. Can't understand why Patty took Rupert to write music for this movie and hope if she will film Wonder Woman 2 she'll take some other man, like John Powell, Thomas Newman, Alexandre Desplat or Howard Shore (and, if, of course he has the brains to do this). My score for this album is 2.5/10. And yes, Saturn for best score in 2018 Rupert will not get, I'm sure.

Anonymous2017-06-03 16:30:20
Thomas Newman, Alexandre Desplat & Howard Shore, these names will not ever write music for a comic film score. So pick another one.

The score is brilliant, though.

Edmund Meinerts2017-06-03 16:37:18
Thomas Newman would probably score a superhero film if Sam Mendes directed it. :p

Anton2017-06-03 18:44:15
Balfe would be amazing

Darrell2017-06-04 10:26:02
Why you so sure Newman, Desplat and Shore will not ever write music for a comic film?

MrZimmerFan2017-06-04 10:35:10
Desplat has score one: Varelian, a french comic book

Honestly, this isn't too off the mark...

Im only interested in the tracks that contain Is She With You....

George2017-05-30 04:53:31
Then you're really missing out on a pretty good score. The references to Is She With You are nice, but there aren't many, just a heads up.

Meta2017-05-30 15:29:01
Well, see that's the thing....

I have a strict 15g playlist incorporating music from the 70s to now, so I have to be judicious about what I choose to keep on my playlist....

And its 15g so it can fit on any device without much memory restriction, hence my problems with this score. I cant take it all with me, so I have to chop it up and take out the best bits.

Still doesn't beat Lego Batman for best soundtrack this year. But a close second

Thomas2017-05-28 16:08:37
Agreed . Apart from how to train your dragon , Lego batman is second best animation score also

Edmund Meinerts2017-05-28 17:57:34
I can think of like fifty animated scores that beat out Lego Batman, but okay

...2017-05-28 18:20:29
Agree with Edmund, (Shrek, Ice Age, Kung Fu Panda, Jungle Book...,) but each to his own...

Mike2017-05-28 21:28:12
Got to agree with you . Legit batman is in my top 5 for sure . It out a lot of super hero film soundtracks to shame . Excellent score

Andrew2017-05-28 21:29:35
Exactly - Lego batman could easily be for any D.C. Film not just for an animation . One of my favorites

Timo2017-05-28 22:38:29
Up, How to train your dragon and then Lego Batman are my top three. Defiantly best score of the year - AT THE MOMENT !!!

Mephariel2017-05-29 02:04:20
Lego Batman is not even the best animated score this year let alone the second best all time.

The Lion King, Prince of Egypt, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, etc..

Waymann2017-05-29 08:33:48
Really again on that Lego Batman score ? Still don't know what everyone is raving about. The score of wonder woman. Liked it, but nothing memorable. For best the more emotional tracks stand out the best like Pain, Loss & Love

PeterFilm992017-05-29 14:33:36
The emotional music in Lego Batman was some of the best writing was fantastic . Not sure why there is hatred for the sound track ? I only came across this web site because of Balfes music .

Paul 2017-05-29 15:43:54
Neither am I ? Lego Batman had cool music . Loved the songs also .

PAndres2017-05-29 15:58:07
Legobatman was fun score . I don't understand why some are mean about it . It's better than most Marvel scores and very memorable . Looking forward to his next animation film

Kekec2017-05-29 16:03:58
It's a bit annoying that every time I want to read some comments about the Wonder Woman soundtrack and click on a picture all I can read are praises for the Lego Batman score.

Please talk about Lego Batman in the Lego Batman section and keep this topic for Wonder Woman's music - which is not bad at all, by the way.

James2017-05-29 16:34:37
Leave it to discuss the Lego score on the page reserved for it.

These comments about Balfe popping up everywhere are annoying.

Edmund Meinerts2017-05-29 17:02:33
How black and white must your worldview be when not calling Lego Batman ONE OF THE GREATEST ANIMATION SCORES OF ALL TIME is called "hatred". Believe it or not there is a bit of a spectrum between BEST EVER and WORST EVER. Although I imagine that's news to quite a lot of the people who frequent this site.

This composing lacks on every important aspect that make a film music score so nessesary to the movie itself. This music has no evolution, has no entity or identity.

You only know that you are listening the "WONDER WOMAN" ost when you listen the references to the now mythical (Zimmer) theme from Batman v Superman. And when this theme sounds in this composing it feels totaly out of place, really a shame.

Beyond, this music could easily work with another summer blockbuster like Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean or a generic action flick.
For years I’ve been defending "DC" music works against the Marvel’s (MCU) soul-less soundtracks. And now after three awesome ost (DCEU) I have to eat my words.
Is not necessary to talk about how great are Man of Steel, Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad (ok, this last less, but with a epic main theme). You only need to listen Rupert Gregson-Williams Wonder Woman, and then play one of this three compositions.

But the most disappointing thing, is the great missed oportunity with the Wonder Woman Theme last year. That exotic tone, that woman strengh that you feel when you are listen this epic theme. Here all this feelings are lost. At the end, another Zimmer-Like álbum.
But like always in the "Zimmer-Like" longtime álbum library, not that height, not that quality, because if Wonder Woman’s score remebers us something, is one and clear truth: Only Exists One Hans Zimmer.

Just finished listening to the score, and this definitely helps calm my frustration after seeing Pirates last night. The score for Pirates was decent enough with some catchy tracks, but this is way better. Summer movies 2017 may not have the best movies lined up in terms of quality, but the scores for them all are really intriguing. Hoping the scores for The Mummy, Transformers, Spider-Man, and Dunkirk are all what I hope. Anyway I'm getting off track, the Wonder Woman score is very good and Rupert is really taking off as a quality composer.
