(albeit inspired by movies)

people are here complaining about the movie that it didn't speak to them. and then i have the feeling that they project their disappointment on the soundtrack. but both pieces of art co-exist and not depend on each other. i, for example, seldom watch any of these movies. but i have listened to their soundtracks and love them.

also i never asked for an extended CD before... but we need one for this one. it's very clear that tracks like gap and coda were definitely shortened.

also i never asked for an extended CD before but we need one for DP. it's clear that tracks like gap and coda were definitely shortened. There's nothing unique about those choirs, standard East European chorus stuff mixed with Johansson. Check out Debbie Wiseman's Warriors from 2000 and you'll get a much more elaborate version of this music.
I cant say that this chorus reminds me of anything I have heard Zimmer done before. And I have played all his scores to death.I agree that Gap is the best track. My main complain with this score is that it feels that Zimmer composed it on autopilot. For me those choirs sounded too much to Electro's Theme in TASM. Is too standard and has very few remarkable moments. The movie itself lacks of personality and the score is part of that problem. I think they just wanted "dark" and hired Zimmer for making his dark ostitatos.I thought I read somewhere Armageddon was the last bay film that hgw was a part of
===============================

Well, Bay and HGW were not exactly best friends during Armageddon. Bay is very demanding and tough. HGW is also not a shy dude. He is an opinionated guy who stands his ground, as you can tell by his interviews. He reminds me of Mancina…..He's not afraid to speak up and have his opinion heard. And just like Mancina, his relationship with the Bay/Bruckheimer family seemed to be...….a bit complicated. Yet, he worked on Bad Boys 2 and Deja Vu. Now, it is possible - tho not likely - that Bay didn't even know that HGW did some work on BB2. Maybe it was just a favor for Steve and Trevor. Under the table, so to speak..... Personally, I don't believe that's the case. Whatever the truth, this is a great example of how different those composers are. Trevor and Steve work great with Bay/Bruckheimer and they always deliver great results. While composers like HGW and Mancina have problems with more demanding filmmakers. And apparently they don't even like action cinema. I don't necessary blame them, even though Mancina certainly didn't do himself any favors by trashing the genre and the people who back in the 90's gave him a shot to prove himself as a composer.Love John Powell. But he is not even close to Williams. Williams made his mark on every genre of film scoring. He freaking turn a holocaust movie score into a masterpiece for the ages.

Today, that score would have been some generic sound design.

Powell is an incredibly gifted orchestral composer. But he doesn't have the dimensions of someone like Williams.

You fools, the tracklist was but a scam. The tracks simply wanted to EAT you.
Yeah, while this does have a great deal more substance than most of the work Hans has done the past few years, I struggle to say it's a genuinely *good* score.

I mean, within the first minute I'm reminded of Dunkirk, then we get a pretty standard Zimmer/Balfe buildup we've heard a million times since Inception... and it doesn't get hugely better from there.

I will definitely give Zimmer credit for the unique and genuinely creative use of female choir in some of the cues, though. Not to disagree for its own sake, but I think Powell has been up there with the greatest film composers since the first HTTYD score. I just wish he'd take on more projects.Yeah, Jesus. This is a prime example of why I'm tempted to think John Powell is more talented than even Williams (yes, I went there). There's so, so many great themes in the HTTYD scores. And he almost never lets a moment go by where he isn't stating or restating or developing one or more of them (although honestly that's true of a ton of Powell's scores and not an exclusive feature of HTTYD). You can never get bored listening to these, there's always something interesting around the next corner.I got confirmation HGW only wrote Haitian House Shootout (with the help of Mel Wesson). The same ideas were edited into the shorter cue Zoepound, so I'd say you can add this one to his credits.

Credits on IMDB mentions Paul Linford on the Main Titles.

Trevor Morris helped Jablonsky on the Ferrari Causeway Chase.
Jablonsky worked, for sure, on the Hallway and Helicopter Inserts.

100% sure Rabin worked on Tapia, Tapia Pissed Off, The Stuff, Wiretap Results, Ocean, Dead Bodies #2, Heart to Heart, Breaking Into Mortuary, Syd's Cover Is Blown, Tapia Has Syd (without Inserts), Prep for Tapia Sneak, Cuba Chase, Guantanamo (those tracks are on the Rabin only-bootleg).
Hoping for the Rocketman score to get a release. Loved the score in the movie. Any updates on this ?Additionally, for anyone interested, I've managed to come up with a final list of themes from the series that I believe to be mostly accurate.

HTTYD 1: Hiccup & Toothless, The Friendship ostinato, Viking Theme, Viking "B" Theme, Dragons, Berk, The Dragon Tamer (Hiccup's unique qualities), Vikings & Dragons, Astrid

HTTYD 2: Loss, Exploration/Hiccup's Maturance, Drago, Hiccup & Valka, The Alpha, Stoick & Valka, The Chief

HTTYD 3: The Furies ostinato, Love, The Dragon Liberators, Moving On, The Hidden World, Toothless & The Light Fury, Grimmel, Dragon Trappers

A list more impressive than Star Wars, and with almost every new theme returning for the next film, while keeping most of the base themes. A masterful achievement by John Powell and his crew, as others have said!Just finished watching the movie, and while it's not much more than fine, it's sure as hell better than every other Star Wars movie that's come out since The Force Awakens (minus the ugly fucking visuals).

However the score is absolutely amazing. Powell's adaptation and development of the new Han Solo theme from Williams is flawless, the callbacks to other themes from the series are mostly appropriate (and good on him for not using the Force theme once!) and Powell's original material is fresh and exciting in a way that even Williams himself hasn't been able to pull off with the new films.

Powell might very well be up there with the greatest film composers if he continues to produce work like this from now on (which from HTTYD 3 seems very possible!)Some of the synth work throughout is definitely like Spirit. The first couple minutes of Coda are one example. It's only suggestions based on about few dozen listened scores of those composers.
By the way known that HGW was part of it.

Havent seen the episode yet.
Surprised to get a sample this early.

Backbiter2019-04-29 12:31:59
O don't know you guys but i feel that Ramin is trying too hard to emulate his sucess with Light of the Seven.
It doesn't feel like GoT, sounds like Westworld.

Iamtommie442019-04-29 13:03:57
I don't agree. I feel that Ramin and the showrunners make very good decisions.
Now, when you hear a piano in GoT you know something is happening. For the worse of the better. I think it's remarkably clever and a new amazing piece by Ramin!!
Can't wait for the rest of the score. Hooefully in 2 weeks

Iamtommie442019-04-29 13:04:21
I mean 3 weeks

jack bell2019-04-29 15:17:45
I listened to most of the music Game of Thrones, I did not like. It's just being overstated because it's so watched. Many music themes are moving in the same line. Nobody's as smart as Hans Zimmer. Ramin Djawadi is an ordinary composer for me. Lorne better than Djawadi.

JBSO992019-04-29 20:35:01
This scene was so well constructed and the music gave me chills from the start.

Djawadi is leaving the show with some really amazing compositions on his back.

I cannot wait for the album release of this season.

Ian Brown McCarthy2019-04-29 20:51:00
When it comes to the actual piano portion of that piece, there's honestly nothing going on that someone with practically no training couldn't compose after a few minutes of trying random combinations of notes. It's neither intellectually impressive, nor particularly effective in context.

Admittedly, Zimmer himself has written some extremely simple piano themes (Time likely being the best example), but at least he overlays those themes with expansive and genuinely interesting orchestration. Ramin just... doesn't.

Backbiter2019-04-29 23:08:17
^This!

Kingfannypack is the MILFcommander2019-04-30 07:25:04
Ian Brown McCarthy have you listened to Light of the Seven from the Season 6 score?

Backbiter2019-04-30 16:02:56
To be honest that piece of work doesn't sound like Ramis's usual work and is clearly temptracked with Assassin's Creed 3 soundtrack by Lorne Balfe, which makes me suspicious.

Medigo2019-05-14 11:20:16
No news of s8 OST yet?

Der Profl2019-05-14 15:53:08
I wanted to ask the same. :D

So nobody knows when the soundtrack for season 8 will be available? How long do you guys think we have to wait after the final episode for experiencing the soundtrack?

MrZimmerFan2019-05-14 17:23:45
Months, weeks, years, decades... ;D

Iamtommie442019-05-14 17:24:02
Normally it's on the Tuesday or Friday after the last episode aired. So 1 more week probably! Hope it's a long release. Lot's if great music this season. As always!

Medigo2019-05-14 19:54:53
In my experience they always released the soundtrack before the final epsidoe. Even in season7

iamtommie442019-05-14 21:46:49
You're right Medigo.
The score to Season 7 was released on the Friday before the final episode. So maybe that will happen this time as well. Although, the final episode ever. Lot's of spoilers probably, so won't be surprised if they would release it the day after

Der Profl2019-05-14 21:51:21
Maybe I remember wrong, but the soundtrack to the sechsond season of Westworld was released directly after the last episode aired?

I hope it will be something similar for GOT8 soundtrack. But also a week is okay for me. The friday before the episode, therefore this friday, would be much nicer, if you ask me, but I can live with a later release.

But please not something like the Bear McCreary soundtrack for Outlander season 4, which will be released one or two weeks after the Bluray release of the season. It's such a long and stupid waiting time...

Oh. My. Gods. (The old ones and the new.) That's so good news. And I can't wait for sunday.

The best is, that I can here the soundtrack before I watch the final episode. And I like to hear to a score without knowing wich music belongs to what kind of scene.

Backbiter2019-05-16 02:56:31
No you won't, the score will be released after the final episode.

Der Profl2019-05-17 12:58:58
I will, Backbiter, because I live in Germany and in my country the final episode will be released on monday. I will watch it with my friends and therefore we will watch it around 8pm in my time. If the soundtrack will be released in the night from sunday to monday, I will be able to listen to the soundtrack before I watch the final episode.

Der Profl2019-05-17 13:06:04
The only way I won't be able to the listen to it before the episode is if it will be released in Germany in the night to tuesday. But I don't know how I would find that.

You know the composer dosen't mark the date of release right?

After all, in McCreary's defense (more so), there is one score comes out one week before Outlander Season 4 soundtrack...

Season 8 OST better have Jennys Song

Medigo2019-04-23 10:23:45
Honestly I am more annoyed that the soundtracks still put in endcredit songs despite them being the easiest to rip.

Richard2019-04-27 03:08:33
We all know Ramin could write an hour's worth of material for every motif easily. It's wishful thinking, but a theme suite or two would be great to send the show off.

Is the music from the scene with Theon on the beach on the OST?

...2017-08-29 17:43:12
This score is just incredible! I love how the thematic development has gone and how we get some new themes (Jon & denaery's being one of the most beautiful). This score is darker than the season 6 score and it goes into interesting directions! I think the OST does it justice.

There are a few missing cues that would have been nice to have; Missandei & Greyworm's love scene, Euron Greyjoy arriving in Kings Landing in episode 1, the Oldtown music (particularly the version when Sam and Gilly leave Oldtown) but other than that this is a great score release!

Jerry2019-03-10 23:48:12
Is there a breakdown like this for seasons 1-6 soundtracks?

Iamtommie2019-03-11 00:25:34

Sorry guys. Tell me please! Does anyone know the information about the album Prison Break - Sequel (TV Series)? The album will be published? Thanks!

...2017-08-25 14:01:59
No sadly, it looks like they won´t release it :/

Hybrid Soldier2017-08-25 14:03:32
Tell me about it, still waiting for any kind of release for The Strain !! -_-

Felix2017-08-25 15:43:03
Yes! The Strain is also very Good, but still no release :(

Macejko reply Replies: 0 || 2017-08-25 13:59:46
Alongside the albums for the first and second season, this is probably the best GoT score to date. The sound mix on the TV show itself doesn't do this masterpiece justice it deserves. This is rich in audio, layered in texture, and unbelievably epic. Ramin has done it again!

Waymann reply Replies: 0 || 2017-08-25 08:41:35
Djawadi does it again. Another fantastic score! Doesn't top the one for season 6 but damn that new Jon Dany theme is amazing and already pays off so well in Against All Odds. The only thing that I'm missing is the music from the scenes in Oldtown and the citadel. One of this year's best scores for sure.

Tracklist has been revealed on Amazon.

Anyone know what tracks could be the first sea battle, the scènes in Oldtown and the frozen lake scène from ep 6 ?

1. Main Titles
2. Dragonstone
3. Shall We Begin?
4. The Queen's Justice
5. A Game I Like to Play
6. I Am the Storm
7. The Gift
8. Dragonglass
9. Spoils of War, Pt. 1
10. Spoils of War, Pt. 2
11. The Dagger
12. Home
13. Gorgeous Beasts
14. The Long Farewell
15. Against All Odds
16. See You for What You Are
17. Casterly Rock
18. A Lion's Legacy
19. Message for Cersei
20. Ironborn
21. No One Walks Away from Me
22. Truth
23. The Army of the Dead
24. Winter Is Here

Iamtommie2017-08-24 09:49:15
Maybe 'Ironborn' for the sea battle. And for the frozen lake maybe 'The Army Of The Dead' or 'I Am The Storm'.

Iamtommie2017-08-24 09:50:02
And it seems like almost the complete battle qith the loot train is on there!!

Waymann2017-08-24 10:15:17
I think A Lion's Legacy Truth and Winter is Here are from episode 7

Medigo2017-08-24 10:37:07
I am the Storm sounds like it could fit Euron too
so who knows
Lions Legacy may be the downfall of Highgarden with the Lannister theme. (They always give us endcredit music lately)
But I suppose that could alsio be 'The Queens Justice'
But I am hoping that Queens Justice is the Martell dungeon scene

Frozen lake may be 'against all odds' or 'army of the dead' or both
The score is clearly not chronological, seeing where they put Casterly Rock's music

Medigo2017-08-24 10:41:47
or The Gift is the dungeon scene
that works too

Iamtommie2017-08-24 10:48:56
The Gift has probably something to do with the wight that they brought for Cersei

Medigo2017-08-24 11:03:10
eh that could be 'Message for Cersei' instead
I mean Euron kept using the word 'Gift' so I think that fits more

Waymann2017-08-24 11:38:17
The track titles are really vague. Haha.
I thought Shall We Begin was going to be included in the Dragonstone track because it's probably the end credits cue from episode 1.

Anyway the score has a good amount of tracks for a 7 episode season. Season 6 had 19 tracks and 7 bonus tracks but those are mostly underscore. Didn't hear much of those in season 7.

Waymann2017-08-24 14:51:02
Oeuw runtimes...

Looks like I am the Storm will be the sea battle from episode 2, Against All Odds or Army of the Dead is episode 6. When I look at some youtube videos who ripped the audio from The Loot Train Attack, it looks like we get everything from that scene in Spoils of War pt. 1 and 2. Without the end credits, but that was the track Hold the Door.

I think Dragonglass, Gorgeous Beasts will feature the new Jon/Dany theme. Still wondering what tracks may feature the Oldtown/Maester variations..

Iamtommie2017-08-24 15:14:22
Message for Cersei is when Ollena tells Jaimie she killed Joffrey. It's not in chronological order.
After sundays episode I'm gonna take a look at the right order.

O backbiter2017-08-24 15:17:03
The Long Farewell is clearly the dungeon scene

Waymann 2017-08-24 16:21:00
I listened to the samples:

The Queen's Justice is the end credits music from epsiode 3. A Game I like to Play could be the dungeon scene, The gift is that scene in episode 3 with Euron Greyjoy. The Dagger is probaly from scenes with Little Finger. A Long Farewell is the poisson kiss scene. Don't know for sure but the Against All Odds track is from Beyond the Wall. See You For What You Are can't place it. Maybe Jon leaving to the wall or that love scene with Grey Worm... A Lion's Legacy another variation of Rains of Castamere. Ironborn is when Euron's fleet sails to King's Landing I think.

No maester theme variations from what i've heard :'( also I don't think the music from that scene with Arya and Nymeria is included. But oh there is a little bit of piano in Winter is Here.

Waymann2017-08-24 16:56:19
The score is up on youtube.

Backbiter2017-08-24 17:27:56
No EP2 End Credits? >:(

Backbiter2017-08-24 17:33:09
Nevermind Ironborn seems to be an extendended version of the episode 2 credits in the same way Needle was for the episode 8 os season 6

Iamtommie2017-08-24 17:45:53
I believe 'The Army Of The Dead' is an extended theme for the white walkers & the wights

Medigo2017-08-24 17:55:55
I believe 'A Game I Like to Play' is from Arya's scene in episode 6
The Spoils of War tracks dont include the extended opening before the Dothraki march in and they miss a bridging section after Dickon saves Jaime/before Dronn gets the Weapon
'I am the Storm' is the Sea battle but with an alternate intro
'Casterly Rock' has parts of the Casterly invasion scenes, but it seems to be mixed very differently
'Lions Legacy' is the fall of Highgarden
No clue where 'Home' goes, but a variation of it shows up in a lot of Winterfell scenes from episode 4

Backbiter2017-08-24 18:31:00
im guessing that Truth is gonna be featured in a flashback scene with Lyanna/Ned Stark?

Iamtommie reply Replies: 0 || 2017-08-24 16:05:48
Things I already figured out:

Dragonstone - Dany's arrival
Shall We Begin? & The Queen's Justice - End Credits episode 1 & 3
I Am The Storm - Sea Battle
The Gift - Euron arrives in King's Landing with Ellaria & Yara
Dragonglass - Cave scene
Spoils Of War, part 1 & 2 - Drogon & Dothraki Vs. Lannisters
The Dagger - Bran & Littlefinger scene
Home - Arya returns to Winterfell
Gorgeous Beasts - Jon touches Drogon
The Long Farewell - The dungeon scene
Against All Odds - Frozen Lake Battle
See You For What You Are - Dany & Jon boat scene
Casterly Rock - The Seige of Casterly Rock
A Lion's Legacy - Jamie at Highgarden
Message For Cersei - Olenna tells Jaimie she killed joffrey

A Game I Like To Play, Ironborn, No One Walks Away From Me, Truth, The Army Of The Death & Winter Is Here.
These I don't know yet

Backbiter reply Replies: 0 || 2017-08-24 15:19:12
Im looking foward to some bonus tracks like last year

Waymann reply Replies: 3 || 2017-08-15 00:54:27
They better included a track with the new variations of the Measter theme. Last episode agai. Had some great new music. Can't wait for this album.

JBSO992017-08-15 09:24:20
I really liked that variation.
And there have also been many variations on the Targaryen theme so I hope they include some of them like(SPOILERS) Danny arriving at Dragonstone or the one from the final scene from the previous episode or that variation when Job touches Drogon.

...2017-08-15 12:58:13
Djawadi basically confirmed that the Dragonstone piece would be on the OST in an interview he gave after the first spisode aired!

The music is really great in this season and the battle music in particular!

Medigo2017-08-24 11:19:27
Going by titles
the Jon/Drogon and Jon/'Dany' scene is on there too

Deniz_Cansi reply Replies: 13 || 2017-08-17 22:10:40
Am I the only one whos been a bit of disappointed of the lack of new music in this season ? We've had new variation of old themes but the only new theme I've noticed is the Dany/Jon one thats been there a couple of times.. Have I missed one ? :)

Iamtommie2017-08-17 23:27:11
I don't think there are many new themes. But there is a lot of new action/battle music.
For example:
Greyjoy Battle
Loot Train Battle

I hope these battles are on the soundtrack. Also I hooe we get another big soumdtrack like season 6. Not the soumdtrack of 50 minutes from season 2 - 5.

Deniz_Cansi2017-08-17 23:49:53
Ah yeah, i forgot about those twos.

Yeah, give us a big soundtrack like s6 :)

David2017-08-18 00:32:20
Less episodes so I'm thinking less material to choose from. By that logic maybe we'll get a hefty release!

Waymann2017-08-18 10:45:39
I don't think it's necessary to create any new big themes. Game of Thrones already has a lot of themes and I don't expect from season 7 to bring something new to the score table because this season is all about characters and storylines coming together. The themes Djawadi established throughout six seasons will pay off in this season and the next in new variations of them and intertwine with each other.

These new variations of previous theme's are well done. They could have just used the old tracks but instead Ramin Djawadi gives us new variations of the theme's we all love.

...2017-08-21 22:55:01
There is a major and beautiful new theme this season! The Jon Snow Denaerys Theme!! It was heard in it's greatest version yet in the end of episode 6!

Waymann 2017-08-22 08:43:47
Any chance the soundtrack will be released this friday ? ;)

Iamtommie2017-08-22 09:51:46
That's right, I forgot about the Jon & Daenerys theme. It's beautiful.
Hope this will be in there

...2017-08-22 10:02:52
I'm not sure they'll release the album this Friday already because I guess they're very cautious about spoilers, but it would be stupid if they didn't release it digitally before the 29th of september.

I'm sure that new theme will be on the OST at least once and I want the creepy Jon Snow variation in episode 6. And the battle version of Light of the Seven when Drogon goes for Bronn in episode 4!

Waymann2017-08-22 12:28:52
Spoilers ? haha I stopped avoiding them. With al the leaking and people on social media who seem to forget that others are watching it a little bit later than airing time it's impossible to avoid them. They did release it last year in front of the final episode. With Light of the Seven as a big surprise.

...2017-08-22 12:44:38
Lol I avoid spoilers at all cost! I checked the ost after the finale last year!

Matty_T2017-08-23 03:09:15
Good news guy! It releases this Friday Ramin confirmed on twitter.

Im glad that ramin has evolved from that dissapointing atmospheric music from previous seasons to something more elaborated like season 6 and 7

Ds2017-08-08 11:59:14
The whole show has evolved, not just the music... it used to be dialogue heavy and slow paced, now it's much more straightforward, it looks more and more like Hollywood movies. The music reflects that. And I find it much nicer, really happy with this direction.

Backbiter2017-08-08 17:28:32
Gonna be honest with you I'm gonna miss that slow pacing but im really glad that now they have a proper budget to focus in what is important instead of putting nude scenes in every chapter like s1 and 2

deniz_cansi reply Replies: 2 || 2017-08-08 12:22:52
Wonder why this is getting released a month after the last episode. Previous years the score was always released a week later after the last episode ?

Waymann2017-08-08 13:32:04
For now the release date for the digital version hasn't been announced. 29/09 is just for the CD, in the past the CD release also came a month after the season ended. Digital is indeed after or before the last episode.

deniz_cansi2017-08-08 16:27:21
Ah ok, thanks for the clarification..

Waymann reply Replies: 4 || 2017-08-08 00:07:11
Was expecting this cover art but I didn't think much of the poster for this season as with the previous season, this one just looks like a teaser poster. But anyway can't wait for the score. Heard some new great things in episode 4. (The Cave scene) It's not the best season we've had so far, the pacing and forced humor is bothering me but Ramin doesn't dissapoint. Wondering how this release will sound like. This is my ranking for the scores: 6,3,4,5,2,1

Anonymous2017-08-08 01:40:30
thats not official. hybrid chose it just so theres cover art

Everan2017-08-08 04:52:50
Official or not, way better than Season 5's cover

Lynk2017-08-08 05:58:37
Would have been cool if the composer could revisit the first two seasons and redo/enhance his score based on what he's learned and applied to the series lately.

...2017-08-08 09:09:11
It is the offical cover art! And I think it looks great! The battle version of light of the seven/cersei's theme was so badass!
