No he is not. It's just the musical palette created for all the futuristic scifi films that are inspired by what Vangelis did in 1982.Balfe is doing a Reddit interview in 2 hours time . Hopefully we can get to the bottom of Why he replaced Pinar and Clint Mansell on Ghost in The ShellI totally agree with you. I was let down when I first heard the album. It's great but it's a selection of the score. I feel like they could've done a better job crafting the album. <br>Hell, something experimental like releasing the music as it is as a long (digital) track would've been interesting. <br><br>I think what made it difficult for them is how the tempo changes all the time, which might have resulted in an unpleasant listening experience (I think that might have been their point of view). For example, in the movie, the tempo of the cue "Home" changes a lot and some layers are taken out while the album version has a constant tempo.<br><br>Unfortunately, the number of people who noticed how unsatisfying this release is, is quite small, so there won't be anything official. Once again, we have to wait for leaks or bootlegs.also seems very like ghost in the shell. Did Balfe also help out on this score ?I can hear it<br>'Her Eyes were Green' gave me a heavy Arrival-vibe for example<br>
Am I the Only one that feels Johánn Johánnsson touch everywere along this score?<br>Truly is the Vangelis reminiscense in each song, but the style is more near to Johánnsson than Wallfisch and of course Zimmer.<br>Could be Denis Villeneuve's suggestion, or maybe Benjamin has study Villeneuve last works, but is unquestionable that 2049 score sounds very Johánnsson.<br><br>Many people these days talking bad about 2049 score (No melodies, No Vangelis, All ambiance...), but the reality is that this work has perfect match with the rest of the film.<br><br>2049 is different to the original Blade Runner. Yes it has the same world and feeling, but is another director's vision, and the music follows (perfectly) the same way.OK, there seems to be a regular edition at amazon and other retailers with the same content (2 CD) for a cheaper price than the limited one. It's nonsense. Will the record label pay me back a couple of bucks? I don't think it is ethical business at all.Saw the film last night and the music score was really good . Big and epic . It is how more scores shouldYou're right, matthew, but i'd said everyone here is used to this kind of album release with HZ/RCP, like The Thin Red Line or Inception with a lot of suites and not so much of the actual movie score. Personally i don't mind because I know the full score will be release some day and I really enjoy suites. However, I'm afraid there is nothing else to do that wait.<br><br>ps : i think Hans or RCP has no right to publish a full score (even they own), it's up to the studio--If they decide to release a proper FYC hopefully that will contain the film order/versions/unreleased/etc. <br><br>But I do agree, this is one of those scores that is tremendously improved by the film flow. Honestly I never understood the thinking behind putting out an album if you aren’t going to use the full 79 minutes it allows. Especially when you are missing cues which are vastly different from what’s presented. Why “Escape From Ship” or “No Time For Caution” weren’t there to begin with confuses me.
Love Ocean Bloom. Hybrid, no release date yet for the album? The first episode is coming out in a week.as a giant fucking fan of this movie, I can't put it into words just how lazy is this presentation of the actual music. <br><br>it annoys the shit out of me when I read comments on youtube, Itunes, Amazon and also here, like whats the opening music? and the stupid answer is from everybody: "oh yeah, you're looking for The Mole, thats the opening scene!" well, fuck, the movie opens with The Mole, but it goes on for only 2 minutes, and the rest 4 minutes is unused, and the actual 4 minutes after 2 minutes, from the opening is unreleased. it is a minor fact that seems 100% unnoticed by every person. because the music is non-stop in the film, I consider the opening from the logos, until we arrive to the beach.<br><br>Shivering Soldier is the first track that appears "as used in the film" form on the release.<br><br>Supermarine is a misleading action suite released before the premiere, because of marketing purposes, I think the studio was a bit scared, so they wanted to demonstrate that this is more of a summer blockbuster than a black and white war movie. <br><br>Home is the classic "different version in film" case, only to give Hybrid Soldier the chance to come here and give a defense speech about how Zimmer, Nolan, and every soul at warner bros, at water tower music, at remote control and every world-class star status earned professionals in hollywood couldn't make the "as used in film" presentation dream come true. the "no the time for caution" event is still comes hilariously amature from a creative business built on the words: "Make it happen" <br><br><br>include the bible and i agreeBalfe is with all this year. <br>Best tv score of the year: Genius<br>Best movie score of the year: Lego Batman<br>Best action score of the year: Geostorm<br>Best drama score of the year: Churchill<br>And best scifi score: Ghost in the shell<br>2017 has been a hell of a year for him<br>It really is an excellent soundtrack with cool action and big epic tunes .
Thanks for reply. I asked Watertower Music and they said they did limited edition and that it may be sold out. I was looking if somebody got it from them or if it's just a mistake on their part.The Best Action Score of the Year??? Best tv score of the year: Genius
Best movie score of the year: Lego Batman
Best action score of the year: Geostorm
Best drama score of the year: Churchill
And best scifi score: Ghost in the shell
2017 has been a hell of a year for him

I can't help myself, but whenever I hear this score, I feel this little Inception vibe. Is it just me?

Also, my favorite track is "Hong Kong Falling". It's so cool how the action part ends.

Paul2017-10-14 17:36:31
Balfe did write a lot on Inception and produced it so that makes sense . Looking forward to the film next week - the soundtrack is very enjoyable and classic

Filmboy2017-10-10 08:07:48
I would pay 10 thousand bucks to spend a day chatting with him !!!!!!This suite sounds like CLASSIC Jerry Bruckheimer

MrZimmerFan2017-10-10 12:52:19
Confirmed by Lorne: This Friday, digital download

Waymann2017-10-13 09:03:01
The first half of "President Meeting" sounds like a slowed down version of that track they made for the Zatlan Volvo advert.

Kravos2017-10-12 00:07:59
Great to hear BIG themes back again in films. Love this suite

Waymann2017-10-12 08:33:29
It's like themes have been gone for ages?? There is much more out there than what RCP puts out you know.

rockhound2017-10-12 09:36:12
in this kind of movies, you haven't heard strong themes for many years. the last desaster movies with lots of strong themes were Armageddon and Deep Impact.

Iamtommie2017-10-12 11:41:43
Maybe not in dksaster movies, but if you are talking about BiG themes again in filmmusic.
If you listen to a few scores of Michael Giacchino, there are enoigh themes in there

Kravos2017-10-12 13:52:05
I ment themes you can actually remember !!!

Iamtommie2017-10-12 17:00:11
Like?

MrZimmerFan2017-10-12 18:05:37
If we speaked of Giacchino, there is a plenty: John Carter's theme, Jyn Erso's theme, Krennic's theme, Vulture's theme, Tomorrowland Main Theme...

Even Speed Racer (one of my favorites)

Hybrid Soldier2017-10-12 19:01:50
Giacchino talk ?

You guys stop right there... lol

James2017-10-12 21:45:48
There are so many greats musical voices besides Zimmer, your pupils and Giacchino. This conversation turns out to be shamefull. Come on! Open yours minds and ears!

james2017-10-12 21:46:45
Shameful*

Kingfannypack2017-10-13 07:20:21
And if we are talking about Giacchino, the entire Jurassic World score- that is a great score that used alot of original themes. It had callbacks to John Williams' contribution but stood on its own very well- especially the suite!

Bibi reply Replies: 0 || 2017-10-12 23:07:37
Well it's available and it's really good ! I'm not fan of Lorne but this is an old-fashioned score as I love them. I want to see the movie now :)

George reply Replies: 7 || 2017-10-08 21:43:46
Hybrid, random question.. do you think this music represents a trend of Hollywood wanting more thematic music once again rather than soundscapes? We had some good melodic scores this year like LEGO Batman, Wonder Woman, Pirates 5, TF5, etc.. and then this. And was just wondering if you think we can start expecting this to become the norm once again?

Waymann2017-10-09 08:52:19
I don't think they are a norm again. It just depends on what's best for the movie. It's not like composers think like hmm let's make a thematic score when the movie doesn't need one.

...2017-10-09 10:00:51
Composers in general probably find it more rewarding to write melodic thematic music, unless you're someone like Trent Raznor... but whatever is good for the film is the composer's job.

AP19802017-10-09 12:36:13
Finally some melodies !!!!! The tracks sound fantastic .

Waymann2017-10-09 14:11:13
I have to say this sounds like 52 minutes of epic fun. But nothing really sticks in the end. Read on twitter this is going to be released this friday digitally.

James2017-10-09 16:41:36
Nah!

1. This is a Bruckheimer movie, just like Potc5. Then it will sound like the old MV scores.
2. Transformers is a Bay movie, which makes it a twin movie to those produced by Brckheimer. Soon...

3. RGW has adopted the old MV sound as their "personal style" for years.

Conclusion: There is nothing new under the sun.

Andrew2017-10-09 18:45:58
The music tracks so really great and strong melodies . Really loved Balfe's Ghost In the Shell but this beats it . Big epic themes -LOVE IT

Frank reply Replies: 0 || 2017-10-09 07:42:41
Seems like Lorne is posting about The Florida Project on Twitter recently and on IMDb it shows he's the composer. I watched the film in New York Film Festival and it doesn't have a score except at the end scene. So did Lorne write that part for the film? I didn't remember see his name during the end credits but I might miss it.

Bibi reply Replies: 2 || 2017-10-08 23:32:14

james2017-10-09 01:10:37
"The contender theme" aka "Thor theme" in 3:45!

Jake2017-10-09 02:28:17
I noticed that too. Clearly was temped with that, but he did a decent job at making it unique-ish

mpolonest123 reply Replies: 0 || 2017-10-08 19:20:00
This is really taking me back to that classic MV sound, albeit with better production. It's like a mix of Armageddon/Transformers with a tiny dash of Mark Mancina.

@ Hybrid: SOUNDS GREAT! Thanks for making a suite!! Loving it.

FaresTdkr reply Replies: 2 || 2017-10-08 16:54:40
Sorry but I can't feel it or honestly I hate it I mean the suite. for me the only melody that make me really shaking and full of adrenaline is "seglass Ni Tonday" by Steve jablonsky TF 5. Zimmer this year is inconvenience &#128542; at all. May be the blue planet by him soundtrack will change my mind?!!!

Hybrid Soldier2017-10-08 16:58:28
What has HZ to do with this score... ?

rockhound2017-10-08 18:09:46
thanks for suite hybrid. the music sounds very entertaining and makes me want to see the movie. i love the theme that starts around 3:57. and the theme at the end of the suite sounds a bit like the ALL SPARK theme from Transformers. also great. cant wait for the score.

Bou reply Replies: 0 || 2017-10-08 18:02:28
F... me! sounds like an awesome old-school MV score with bunch of heroic motifs!
I dig it!

superultramegaa reply Replies: 0 || 2017-10-08 16:20:20
Well the suite alone is a lot more interesting to me than most Balfe scores, but it still has too many Zimmer vibes to me. It sounds like a combination of Gladiator and MCU scores with a very hard to identify melody.

Phil reply Replies: 0 || 2017-10-08 13:12:41

The color palette of the cover is very similar to that of Inception.

JBSO992017-10-08 12:36:49
That's what I tought when I saw it first. In fact I tought this was the Inception page but then I realized it was too similar!

PS: Hybrid, the suite sounds amazing. It reminds me a bit of fantastic scores like At World's End, The Last Samurai and even the first Transformers. It looks like it's going to be great

Manulder2017-10-06 13:43:19
Cd or digital only ?

JBSO992017-10-06 14:43:40
Is this released today in digital format? I knew the movie and the CD were coming out on the 20th of this month but I didn't knew anything about a digital release.

Epic old school electro orchestral, this is like heaven music for me! Very good news

Waymann2017-10-06 15:07:16
I don't think it's released digital today, can't find it. Digital releases are mostly the same day as US theatrical release. October 20th it is.

Kalman2017-10-06 16:25:29
It seems that the CD version is only a CD-R manufactured on demand. At least that's all I have found so far. Never mind, still better than a download only version.

Hybrid Soldier2017-10-06 18:05:23
Seems like there'll be a CD (R ?)... It's out in 2 weeks, I'll try to put some badass suite when I can...

Hybrid Soldier2017-09-24 21:56:13
Lorne had plenty of time, and recorded this in April, so no, nothing from Pinar will remain.
