How much excitement here is there for this? These two composers must have hit out of the trash bin this time.Isn't it funny how embarassingly neoliberalist Hans Zimmer is nowadays? Back in the 1990s he was a socially conscious activist. Next - what up - a Trump fanfare, A Paul Ryan shame boogie. Nothing would be surprising for this corporate version of a composer I used to love. Some good music here but would be so much better if Zimmer hadn't had to homogenize it all again. He is a shameful corporation.I defend a guy who is being a rare voice of moderation around here and now I'm the childish one. That about sums up the readership at this site. At least, a significant proportion of it. I didn't even say anything about whether I like Balfe or not. I actually do like him a fair amount. But anything short of God-worship and mass human sacrifice at the holy feet of the Mighty Lorne is insufficiently devout for the likes of you guys, huh?<br><br>Again, attempting any sort of nuanced discussion is a total waste of time around here these days.AntoMia - or Balfe's assistant - stop making silly comments. If this is the best music to a TV show in ages, you haven't watched any tv shows
At the end of the day, the Zimmer style for Batman is now done. It had its ten years of glory but now sounds like bad advertising music as all of Hans' music tends to do after its cycle runs out. <br><br>Junkie does not have the skills to come up with a new style nor do any of the lackies Hans employs currently. <br><br>Good at doing additional, terrible at anything original.<br><br>Think back to the days of Powell etc and now we have Krazcynski. Fuck.<br><br>The Hans factory is dying finally. This is a positive thing for film art as Balfe was the epitomy of a drone/clone composer and now the industry is catching up. <br><br>They can get either a computer/Balfe to do the same thing or find someone who has actual skills and talent. <br><br>Maybe we can finally get some real composition here.Having your name in the credits does not mean you have been artistically involved. The Lorne Balfe empty monicker now translates to this message: 'cheap Zimmer emulation Zimmer was not bothered to do but sent his coffee boy to look after. There is no orchestra, samples are from 2002 as recent ones cost actual money.'Anonymous apologises - Marejko seems to support Trump and the NRA. Well, if you do, prepare for a tsunami of young people who are not as thick and selfish as you in their worldview. And if you support these organisations, shame on you as a coward. <br><br>ďwhy the fuck are you having a go at IanĒ<br><br>Edmund just chill !!!!!!!! <br><br>In other news ... Happy Birthday BalfeMy degree from a conservatory in Cocksville, Tennessee, allows me to authoritative. Suck on my balls as I am not Cartman, at all.
I am so lonely. Please do not abandon me. Why you so nasty. Me not nasty. Can I be friend with you?Edmund give it a rest .We all get the point that you donít think Balfe is great but go away and listen to How To Train Your Dragon on loop. You come off very childish.Therenis nothing wrong with the argument about the Emmys either. You May not like it because it shows you thoughts are in the minority......thankfully.most importantly óó/ Happy Birthday MeastroMarejcko here sounds like a Daily Mail reader off his medication. If you cannot understand the difference between Shore's nuanced approach to orchestal music and Djawadi's instrumental approach, I suppose it is the same as explaining Brexit to a Daily Mail reading ape and someone with an ability to think. Or, to take it from the other perspective, Fox News to anyone with a brain. <br><br>By the way, it is not a great argument to say that 90% of listeners will miss the nuances. Most people have better brains than you do - I suppose you support the RNA as well with your level of cognitive ability and intelligence. If you do, you are an inhuman.<br>I love LotR music, but the superior "development" and "complexity" that the buffoon above me is referring to basically translates to "now the theme is being played by six violins instead of seven, because one of the characters just died", which is just super-duper noticeable, if you catch my drift. <br><br>In the meantime, Djawadi manages a complete tonal shift from adventurous to dark and ominous (Needle - House of Black and White), from royal and grandious to bloody and brutal (King's Arrival - The Throne Is Mine), and combining the themes in ways Shore hasn't even attempted.<br><br>I love these posh music-savvy professionals straight from conservatory in Cocksville, Tennessee, telling us mere peasants that our tastes suck because if you listen very very carefully, you will notice that one of the choir members in O3:47 just scratched his balls, which of course signfies the internal turmoil Frodo is in.<br><br>I will say it again - I love LotR music. But thematic nuances my ass. Even intent listeners would miss about 90% of them - so much so they might be on many occassions downright nonexistent - and even if you do notice, the entire experience just boils down to "oh, the theme is now being played slightly differently, I guess that's kinda cool, in a way, maybe". There has never been a radical transformation or combination of themes in a way Djawadi does it. "Playing a more somber version of the Fellowship theme", or whatever else you may say to justify putting Shore on a higher pedestal than Djawadi, simply doesn't cut it. All of it serves just as a pointless piece of trivia, being used by stuck-up smellers of their own farts to appear mighty and knowledgeable.<br>To even compare Djawadi and Shore in complexity is offensive. I presume you haven't actually bothered reading Doug Adams' book on the thematic nuances of The Lord of the Rings? Djawadi employs tiny little nuggets of melody as themes that he recycles verbatim every time. There is no variation. <br><br>The Lord of the Rings is based on an extensive amount of thematic development which, absolutely, is missing in Game of Thrones.<br> <br>Certainly, Shore's work is not as nuanced in development as, let's say, Williams with Star Wars, but to compare his extensively detailed emphatically organic and orchestrally and instrumentally complex work to Djawadi using a cello and a bank of samples is offensive. <br><br>Again, some of the choral music is fine but very basic in both harmony and application, and again, let down by the cheapness of the samples underlying them. <br>
The Game of Thrones scores do have their strengths but they're a long, long, long way from Lord of the Rings...Michael, why the fuck are you having a go at Ian when he literally said in the comment above yours "his best work is both highly creative and emotionally compelling IMO"? People aren't complaining about you fanboys for liking Balfe's work, they're complaining about you flying off the rails about nothing.<br><br>"He's been nominated for awards so he must be good" - worst argument ever.Listen to Ghost in the Shell. If you can come back here with a straight face and call Balfe a musical hack makes you a baboon humping cuck-monger. Balfe's talent and contribution is so incredibly apparent. If you can't hear that, you couldn't hear a dump truck drive through a nitroglycerin plant.Ummm the entirety of the Game of Thrones soundtracks show that Djawadi has many strengths both as a composer and a "theme man" or whatever. Game of Thrones has a soundtrack that is comparable to that of Lord of the Rings - not as memorable, but both LoTR and GoT have phenomenal soundtracks with memorable themes that describe the worlds depicted in each respective franchise. Each soundtrack has themes depicting different cultures, groups of people, characters or complex ideas. While GoT soundtrack isn't as beloved as the LoTR score, they share those qualities. So no, Djawadi is no weak composer.Ian - do you honestly think Genius or Churchill are no good !!!!!this site is so weird.when people slag of Balfe itís okay but we dare say he is actually good then people get mad about it .Bit pathetic. The guy has been nominated twice for an Emmy so canít be that bad!Haters give it a rest and get a life please and let us fans just enjoy the music

Olive2018-02-11 21:52:21
Lol

The score was made available to everyone on the Water Tower YouTube channel in 2016. Some people managed to save it, others did not stick to it because they never imagined it would become steam. The few who have it not need to feel obliged to share. I do not even know if this is possible on public platforms like YT.

Ahmad2018-02-11 22:33:07
Hmm... I get your frustration but all you got to do is wait. I wish complete scores were released officially instead of being bootlegs but that's how it is. It'll be out before you know it.

@Olive what are you talking about? The score was never uploaded to YT (by WaterTower) they uploaded the commercial soundtrack which I own and love very much but there are some interesting cues missing from it. Two tracks (I believe) were uploaded on SoundCloud but that's it.

Olive2018-02-11 22:47:58
I will consider myself wrong. I've been searching the internet for the full score. And I found one or other related news and the news that it was posted by WT on YT. But I did not find anything now. I promise to look more closely.

Nomolos2018-02-14 16:08:13
Someone uploaded a track (or mix of tracks) from the expanded score onto youtube last month or so. It wasn't an audio rip from the DVD, it sounded like it was straight from the album. I can't for the life of me find it anymore though, I guess it was taken down. It was a mix of Batman's unreleased tracks throughout the film, including the one where he's getting ready for Luthor's party (unveiling the car/staring at the Batsuit).

Anonymous2018-02-14 18:52:21
Yes. Hybrid Soldier uploaded them. That should help.

I have bvs and its amazing

JBSO99 reply Replies: 4 || 2018-02-03 13:41:13
I have realized that this tracklist is from the theatrical version of the movie, because in the extended edition, for example "The Desert" scene was longer, and there was more music in it, there is also several scenes that should be before and after "Half A Man". And in scenes like the Superman in the Capitol there was more music.

Also I wanted to ask. What is Quaker Steak & Lube and Ow, My Balls? This are strange track titles.

mpolonest123 2018-02-03 14:04:12
Quaker, Steak, and Lube is the cue when Clark receives the photos of the Bat Brand on the dead body. Ow My Balls is the Superman/Doomsday nuke scene. As to why they are titled that, probably some in-humour from Hans and co.

As for the extended edition, Hybrid said it was unused music that the editors pieced together for the release. I donít know if Zimmer actually scored any of the extended scenes.

Ahmad2018-02-03 15:55:33
There's an interview with Hans and Tom where they were asked if they were involved with the ultimate cut and they said music editors are doing taking care of it so it is assumed that HZ and co. only worked on the theatrical cut.

^Too bad. One of my favorite bits is the variation of Lex's theme with the choir when Lois is in the helicopter after being kidnapped. It's so majestic. At least we might get the ending part which should've been included in "Problems Out Here".

JBSO992018-02-03 18:27:10
I could have figured out the Ow My Balls one because of where it's placed, but thank you so much for the other one.

So the score in extended scenes is unused music? I hope they release it (or it is leaked) someday because there are some great bits in those scenes, like the bit Ahmad mentioned when they kidnap Lois.

mpolonest1232018-02-03 18:49:59
If I had to guess (and this is totally hypothetical) Hans, Tom, and/or Steve wrote a sketchbook or series of suites which were chopped apart for the extended edition. There are variations that definitely arenít in the theatrical cut, and I canít imagine them being alternates.

Rigby reply Replies: 3 || 2018-01-22 14:47:36
Question for anyone whos actually heard this, are the world engine sound effects incorporated in the score like they are in the film?

Medigo2018-01-22 16:05:54
I am pretty sure they were not incorporated in the film either.
You just hear them whenever the engine fires. And sometimes its timed pretty well with the music

Rigby2018-01-22 16:29:44
Iím talking about the Bruce Wayne Dream sequences (and at the beginning of preparation montage). They use the world engine effect in the background, im not sure if itís the score or just the sfx

stop begging for free stuff

mpolonest123 2018-01-17 01:33:22
Iíll never understand why people are so rabid about this stuff. Like seriously, at the end of the day itís just music, it has no real ďvalueĒ. Donít get me wrong, seeing BVS and SH2 leak would be awesome, but why lose sleep waiting or begging for it?

Ahmad2018-01-17 14:14:30
It doesn't matter if it has a real value or not. If I hear the music somewhere and I like it, I want to have it. I want to listen to it without all the sound effects and dialogue.

Now, I personally didn't lose sleep because of it nor begged for it but the idea that we've got a detailed tracklist and the fact that it exists on someone's hard drive but I can't listen to it sucks. I'm not saying they should leak it though. The whole situation is bizarre to me.

-2018-01-17 22:50:16
yeah, you are definitely still begging

Olive2018-01-17 23:27:10
"Music has no value"
say this to all these artists who have made fortunes by simply opening their mouths to sing or playing an instrument

Ahmad2018-01-18 01:33:44
Well, call what you want.

Most people here (myself included) would be more than happy to support the artists and the people who worked hard on the music and actually pay for the complete score but unfortunately such releases rarely happen.

Novi 2018-01-19 05:35:41
Yeah, film scores are my passion. That's why I want this score so bad. I seriously would pay for this score. See it as begging, frankly I don't care what you see it as. Zimmer changed my life through music. It's my passion. This score means something. Music is value.

Meta2018-01-19 14:11:53
Novi - I'm sure at some point youll find this on youtube or something...But why so interested in THIS score? It's really not that great at all, by comparison. Junkie channels Mad Max while Zimmer tries too hard to not redo his Dark Knight themes...

mpolonest123 2018-01-19 16:13:41
Look, Iím passionate about music as well. And yes, seeing this leak would make me happy. But I also know that there are better things to use your energy on. Wishing for this score to leak, or asking anyone who has it to leak it is a waste of time. Itís going to come out when it comes out, be it tomorrow or a year from now. Hell, there are two of my favorite scores from the 90ís I grew up with that still have seen no release at all. I donít spend my time worrying about them though, when they come they come.

And as for music having no value, I probably shouldnít have phrased it like that. I was mainly referring to people who hold on to these sessions and think they somehow increase with age. Itís not wine for Godís sakes. I do apologize for making it sound like music has no point or effect on people. I just think there are more important things to stress over.

Kingfannypack/Milfcommander2018-01-20 07:14:38
And what 90's scores are those?

mpolonest123 2018-01-20 13:39:19
Timekeeper/Universe of Energy by Bruce Broughton. Being theme park scores though a release is incredibly difficult.

Novi 2018-01-20 21:43:31
You're completely right. Sorry if I came off kinda idiotic. My love for music got the best of me. I was patient with the Man of Steel complete score, but I was just overly excited for this one. I gotta have more patience

mpolonest123 2018-01-20 23:04:34
@Novi No need to apologize, at the end of the day we all want to see these recording sessions leak. In the past year alone we already got TASM2 and Rush. Itíll definitely come :-)

Kingfannypack2018-01-21 07:24:07
Don't listen to them, you want this album you can say it as much as you want. I just hope they release the Batman suite along with the release (although i'm sure its just "Men Are Still Good" with three or four minutes shaved off) any album with a suite is what i'm all for!

....2018-01-21 19:11:40
The bigger question is; how many more suites did Hans record. We know about The Batman Suite, but what about Lex, etc.

Darkknight2018-01-21 23:10:34

Music absolutely has value. Music is about storytelling, especially film music. To me, film music is the most emotionally inspiring music. The songs written by RCP detail the development of characters I hold dear to me. The evolution of Ramin Djawadi's Daenerys Targaryen theme, or Hans' evolving Will and Elizabeth theme or the chaotic theme to General Zod. Music has always had a place in the human spirit.

Idealistic tangent aside, I would very much like to see this album out.

You're absolutely right. Music has no value. To some people it's priceless and it means more than anything to them. If a picture says 1,000 words, how many emotions does music evoke?

When will this become available?

um2018-01-14 05:47:13
no

Louise G2018-01-14 06:56:37
What do you mean Um No, there's a track list?

Olive2018-01-14 11:51:31
Hello, Louise!

The expanded score has leaked somewhere and few people have access to it (I'm not one of them). There is no forecast when the official album will come out.

Anonymous2018-01-14 14:48:43
Yes there was a forecast for the official album coming out. Almost 2 years ago. It leaked in February 2016 when a few people got their hands on the digital release. I was one of them.

Kingfannypack2018-01-16 22:39:59
You ďwereĒ one of the people who received it?

Novi2018-01-16 23:19:59
You should definitely put it up online mate. We all need it

Yeah no! 2018-01-17 00:16:42
I think he meant the official album. There are no plans for the complete score to be released officially. This is a leak/bootleg. Some seem to have it so it definitely will leak soon.

It's unfortunate that the majority of complete scores are bootlegs instead of official releases that could be purchased.

Bradyn reply Replies: 0 || 2018-01-13 22:31:43
Is this ever leaking?

Bondo reply Replies: 0 || 2018-01-09 21:17:49
As a fun experiment, one could create a separate Batman-only and Superman-only "what if" tracklist consisting solely of their material ;)

This makes me wonder if the Chappie/Sherlock 2 scores are floating around as well. Hopefully someone drops them soon.

Hybrid, any chance for credits on either of those?

Hari Haran2018-01-06 23:03:31
FINALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Slow fuk2018-01-06 23:36:22
Hello. Can someone please tell me how I can listen to these? Or is this just a list.

Thank you.

Rigby2018-01-06 23:50:32
Not available yet, although some people apparently have it.

Thanks Rigby2018-01-07 02:24:08
I appreciate it :)

Wesall2018-01-07 20:51:43
Which ones includes Wonder Woman?

Mike2018-01-07 22:38:20
Wonder Woman's theme should be on track 48. The Girl

mpolonest123 2018-01-07 23:45:22
And 31. Photograph
(I also think 39. Dawn of Justice is the ďJustice LeagueĒ sequence which uses WWís rhythmic motif)

Jenova2018-01-08 18:29:52
Give me that "Preparation Montage". Going to be the best track to work out to.

Patrick2018-01-09 14:20:06
When is this going to be released?

lol2018-01-09 14:30:23
never

isildur reply Replies: 4 || 2018-01-08 21:43:39
Surprising. So, Steve and Andrew did more than Junkie on this score and yet he gets the composer credits? How does that work, Hybrid?

Edmund Meinerts2018-01-08 22:35:23
Not Hybrid, but I know what he's going to say: Contracts! ;)

Olive2018-01-08 22:52:23
I'm not Hybrid, but I'll answer:

blah blah blah

Junkie was the second major contributor to the soundtrack of Man of Steel. Zimmer brought him to BvS and the two made an agreement that Junkie would be the one to continue working with Skyder.

He may not even be the author of most cues, but the whole score sounds like something done by him. There is no denying it. And half of the major tracks, those that were released on the two original records, have material composed or arranged by him. So there's nothing to complain about.

Still, did he deserve the main credit? Maybe yes. All the sound with the MoS percussion was produced and conducted by him. And probably the same thing happened in BvS

Olive2018-01-08 23:01:02
So it is difficult to understand these credits anyway. These cues where there are shared names like HZ, SM, AK or HZ, BW, JXL., sometimes I imagine as a team work, or a crude demonstration produced by Hans and improved by (put the name) guy, or, still , that all this is taken from a suite like in TDKR, or that they are 80% originals ideas of these men produced with the material that Zimmer makes available. Anyway, it's a puzzle. Sometimes it's best not to stick to it too much.

Ian2018-01-09 09:32:22
^ My intuition is that Hans did some of the big cues/suites alone or with minimal help (the credits reflect this), and then oversaw the rest, with Steve, Andrew, Ben mostly generating variations of Hans's work. It's honestly not at all clear to me what Tom did here, other than The Tower Falls (which is just a variation of Arcade).

Shanthosh reply Replies: 1 || 2018-01-08 14:55:04
please can anyone tell me how i can listen to this....

Qor2018-01-08 15:47:40
I don't believe it has leaked yet. Whenever it does, i think a simple google search can lead you to it :) i'd very much like this Expanded Score as well...

Nomolos reply Replies: 9 || 2018-01-02 06:16:11
I think people will receive the score more favourably if they listen to the expanded score. I thought the exclusions they made for the regular were odd, and the choice of songs for the deluxe were even more head-scratching (I'm looking at you, "New Rules" and "Vigilante").

Nomolos2018-01-02 12:46:38
Also, are these track titles for real?
46. "Ow, My Balls".
49. "I Love You, Muffin" wtf? Hans came up with these titles?

Ahmad2018-01-02 12:51:18
LOL yeah what's up with that? :D
I mean one of Dunkirk's cues was named "Sauerkraut Sauce" so anything is possible.

mpolonest123 2018-01-02 13:45:34
Iím still puzzled about 22. Quaker, Steak, and Lube. What is that?

As for the complete score, itís nice to hear more fleshed out variations of each theme as opposed to the album, which was lacking imo. My favorite is definitely the Krypton/Luthor counterpoint in My Blood.

Bou2018-01-02 14:48:42
Quaker : Superman
Steak : Batman
Lube : Wonder Woman

Olive2018-01-02 19:01:53
Bad sex jokes? No!

God of Something Perhaps2018-01-02 20:12:20
Like how composers put troll names to their scores such as Michael Giacchino's "Vulcan Gets A Good Drilling" Lol

Olive2018-01-02 21:42:38
Ha! It's the name of a restaurant of the Pennsylvania!
Yes, I did the Google search...

james (now james callahan)j2018-01-03 02:24:51
"sauerkraut sauce" is a direct quote from the movie.

badbu2018-01-03 08:17:05
the most tracks are named by the quote in the movie
