I'm guessing, based on the credits, that Williams worked on "Dice and Roll" directly? He is.i don't doubt it, he and the director are good frineds and fans of each other, also they worked together on Annabelle so I'm willing to bet money he's the composer which is AWESOMEWallfisch just Retweeted the Shazam! trailer. Does that mean he is scoring it then? Hybrid can you say anything about this?On Millers water planet, those ticking noises happen every 1.25 seconds. @MikeOTM
Youíre absolutely right. Powell did an awesome job of staying within the musical sandbox of the SW musical universe but also was able to bring something fresh and original to the overall sound, something Star Wars really needs right now.Sweet. I've gotta say, this score surprised me in a good way. I've always loved Powell, but if you told me two years ago he'd write a Star Wars score, I'd have been hesitant about it. But Solo is really, really solid, even without the John Williams main theme. In fact, I like what Powell does with the JW theme better than the theme as JW wrote it.Wowww so many solo Powell! His part is not in the OST release...No Paul Mounsey credits?

Hell he even takes the time to put out unreleased music, not something most composers do.
That is exactly why I hate when people take personal jabs at composers (usually at Junkie XL for some reason). Itís fine to not like the music, everyone has different tastes, but donít criticize a composer for writing what he was asked to write.I agree! He actually invited me to come to a recording session in London for this film, man it killed me that I couldnít afford to go. But I was so thankful he even thought to ask! Top notch guy.

P. S. It will be really cool, if Hybrid Soldier add all booklet credits and suites to new movie soundtracks.

I will but we have tech issues, moved servers so I can't add audio at the moment and a few other things... :/

Sweet score. With many highlights. However, little original. It's an interesting work for Ramin, but it's far from being a significant effort in the genre of the fantasy scores.

To be honest this is better than both hurricane heist and Tomb Raider... and possibly Pacific Rim Uprising that comes out next week. We just got 4 major RCP scores and Iím kinda underwhelmed with what Iíve heard from all four of them, unfortunately.

MrZimmerFan2018-03-09 22:42:42
Pacific Rim comes in two weeks, i think is little too soon for a full opinion. As for this i like it, but not too memorable.

George2018-03-09 23:59:31
Youíre right, I shouldnít make a judgment call just yet! Hoping Pacific Rim turns out well, though!

I'm now in my first listen of the score and I gotta say that it has less action tan I expected but that's not a bad thing because instead we have great, beautiful fantasy themes. I specially love tracks like A Wrinkle In Time or Uriel.

Too bad there is only 45 minutes of score...

JBSO992018-03-08 19:15:18
For anyone wondering, this is the full tracklist with track duration. Also, I have credits for each track that I don't know if they are correct, so if anyone could clarify this I would be grateful:

Well, that is a "girls movie" in the end of day.

Edmund Meinerts2018-03-08 23:49:42
What? Girl's movie? No it's not! It's based on a really well-known novel - I hesitate to say "classic" because I'm not sure it's quite there, but it's damn close.

Olive2018-03-09 00:43:26
Yeah, I know I know.

I refer to the lack of action music claimed by the author of the above post.
This is not a Jean Claude Van Dame movie, it's a movie about teenagers with travels among the space.

JBSO992018-03-09 11:11:52
Olive, I don't know if there is action or not in the movie. I was just saying that there are like two or three action oriented tracks, but maybe in the movie there is more action.

At some point in the next 5 years I think the number of movies with Sia songs will overtake the number of movies without them.

Anonymous2018-02-22 14:46:53
Instead of concerning ourselves with Sia, we have to be worried about Djawadi. The man has a knick for a simple tv tune. But anything outside of that sounds like a youtube fanvideo. The incidental score for Game of Thrones, especially the wall scenes, is terrible and amateurish.

All I can think is that the producers must have been pressed with time and had to go with the casio synth nonsense Djawadi presented them with. It is the worst example of scoring for a major franchise.

Again, Dwajadi does well with his choral bits but he is not a composer, more a theme tune man. Who Wants to be a Millionare would serve him better than a complex franchise.

Simultaneously, the Paint it Black material from Westworld is outstanding. But was this done by Djawadi or a much more talented orchestrator - can we look into this as it sounds nothing like his work

Macejko2018-02-22 16:16:18
Many benevolent saviours explaining the error of our music tastes have surfaced recently, haven't they?

JBSO992018-02-22 20:09:32
Too many songs! But at least there is 15 tracks of score.

BTW, I don't think Djawadi is able just to do themes. His score in GoT Season 7 shows that he is able to do action tracks very well. Also, in GoT Season 6, he shows that he is able to have many themes and develop them in many different ways.

Kingfannypack is the Milfcommander2018-02-23 08:08:48
Ummm the entirety of the Game of Thrones soundtracks show that Djawadi has many strengths both as a composer and a "theme man" or whatever. Game of Thrones has a soundtrack that is comparable to that of Lord of the Rings - not as memorable, but both LoTR and GoT have phenomenal soundtracks with memorable themes that describe the worlds depicted in each respective franchise. Each soundtrack has themes depicting different cultures, groups of people, characters or complex ideas. While GoT soundtrack isn't as beloved as the LoTR score, they share those qualities. So no, Djawadi is no weak composer.

Edmund Meinerts2018-02-23 11:48:37
The Game of Thrones scores do have their strengths but they're a long, long, long way from Lord of the Rings...

Balfe2018-02-23 12:15:49
To even compare Djawadi and Shore in complexity is offensive. I presume you haven't actually bothered reading Doug Adams' book on the thematic nuances of The Lord of the Rings? Djawadi employs tiny little nuggets of melody as themes that he recycles verbatim every time. There is no variation.

The Lord of the Rings is based on an extensive amount of thematic development which, absolutely, is missing in Game of Thrones.

Certainly, Shore's work is not as nuanced in development as, let's say, Williams with Star Wars, but to compare his extensively detailed emphatically organic and orchestrally and instrumentally complex work to Djawadi using a cello and a bank of samples is offensive.

Again, some of the choral music is fine but very basic in both harmony and application, and again, let down by the cheapness of the samples underlying them.

Macejko2018-02-23 13:11:20
I love LotR music, but the superior "development" and "complexity" that the buffoon above me is referring to basically translates to "now the theme is being played by six violins instead of seven, because one of the characters just died", which is just super-duper noticeable, if you catch my drift.

In the meantime, Djawadi manages a complete tonal shift from adventurous to dark and ominous (Needle - House of Black and White), from royal and grandious to bloody and brutal (King's Arrival - The Throne Is Mine), and combining the themes in ways Shore hasn't even attempted.

I love these posh music-savvy professionals straight from conservatory in Cocksville, Tennessee, telling us mere peasants that our tastes suck because if you listen very very carefully, you will notice that one of the choir members in O3:47 just scratched his balls, which of course signfies the internal turmoil Frodo is in.

I will say it again - I love LotR music. But thematic nuances my ass. Even intent listeners would miss about 90% of them - so much so they might be on many occassions downright nonexistent - and even if you do notice, the entire experience just boils down to "oh, the theme is now being played slightly differently, I guess that's kinda cool, in a way, maybe". There has never been a radical transformation or combination of themes in a way Djawadi does it. "Playing a more somber version of the Fellowship theme", or whatever else you may say to justify putting Shore on a higher pedestal than Djawadi, simply doesn't cut it. All of it serves just as a pointless piece of trivia, being used by stuck-up smellers of their own farts to appear mighty and knowledgeable.

Anonymous2018-02-23 13:59:23
Marejcko here sounds like a Daily Mail reader off his medication. If you cannot understand the difference between Shore's nuanced approach to orchestal music and Djawadi's instrumental approach, I suppose it is the same as explaining Brexit to a Daily Mail reading ape and someone with an ability to think. Or, to take it from the other perspective, Fox News to anyone with a brain.

By the way, it is not a great argument to say that 90% of listeners will miss the nuances. Most people have better brains than you do - I suppose you support the RNA as well with your level of cognitive ability and intelligence. If you do, you are an inhuman.

Marejcko2018-02-23 14:02:09
I am so lonely. Please do not abandon me. Why you so nasty. Me not nasty. Can I be friend with you?

LOL at comparing GOT to LOTR. Shore's LOTR is far superior in scope, thematic development, composition, etc. I like GOT, but GOT is not even in the same league.

Why compare GOT & TLOTR in the first place ? They couldn't be more different...

It's like comparing Flash Gordon to Interstellar...

Always excited to hear new material from Ramin. But this movie I don't know, it looks awful. Still looking forward what he will add to the movie.

So obvious... There are still a couple of months left but luckily the digital release will happen earlier.

Edmund Meinerts2018-01-31 12:58:13
I hope the movie turns out OK because the book it's based on is wonderful. And Ava DuVernay is an interesting choice of director. But so was Duncan Jones for Warcraft (to keep it in the Djawadi family) and that turned out fairly mediocre, and I can't say that I have high hopes for this.

Also, that poster/album cover is...yuck.
