Search for "filmtracks".Sorry, just found it.Tried that, couldn't find an author named Clemmensen who reviewed it. (I don't know where to look I haven't seen this guy's reviews before).Should be easy to find with google...Seriously guys, what site is he on? I want to see this review, but I don't know where it is.
I know woodwinds, with few exception, have been completely abandoned by RCP, but man would it be nice if Steve fit woodwinds into the small scale family scenes. He's great with them, but for whatever reason he doesn't seem to be able to use them unless it's an animation, The Sims or IDEA specifically, or fantasy (even then The Last Witch Hunter had no woodwinds). They add so much to the soundscape and make any score so much richer. <br><br>I'm listening to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy again currently, and god, they'd be nothing without all of those flutes and clarinets. Even when the main instrument is brass or string, the addition of woodwinds is so cleverly implemented by Shore, and they not only blend, but they actively enhance the sound. <br><br>Of course I'd also love Steve to continue using choir. He even seems to be getting better with it, with Transformers 5's use of it resembling the Halo franchise in a number of ways. It would be a wonderful surprise though if he went back to woodwinds eventually. I'm definitely not of the belief that they can't be used in a modern day setting either (Silence of the Lambs and the Spider-Man scores use them particularly well).Steve is a very accommodating composer. So it's really up to the director's vision. With Bay, you know you gonna hear some of the best stuff Steve has to offer and that's because they share the same "musical ear".<br><br>When he's scoring Peter Berg movies, Steve often relies on sound design and his scores for those movies are not really melodic. The few exceptions aside, Berg likes sound design scores. And he likes to experiment A LOT (example: the MRI machine sound that was incorporated in the Battleship score. Bold choice!).<br><br>Where does the director of Skyscraper stand in all of this?<br><br>Personally, I think this score will be "in the middle". Little sound design there, little melodic cue over here.... : ) I don't expect power anthems, simply because - as big as the movie is - it's not "Michael Bay big". I do hope for a little choir work though. Steve is great with choir. The Solo review does look quite good.<br><br>Clemmensen comes across pretty badly in many of his reviews. Even some of the positive ones. He has some very strong preconceptions about certain things that sometimes lead him to say some reasonably aggravating stuff.<br><br>Interestingly, he stays almost reasonable in his A World's End review. I wouldn't point to that one as his most typical negative review.Additional information<br>Posted date 2016<br><br>but, It was sold for two years.<br><br>Hello Hans.<br><br>May i ask you a question?<br><br>The piano sheet is now on sale, so that your music is now in the market for commercial purposes. It is sold at $ 10, although I do not know whether or not the seller arranged the piano music directly. Please check with us for the availability of other music.<br><br>Please refer to this site: htta://www.yes24.com/24/goods/28085649<br><br>(South Korea book store.)<br><br>Book Introduction :<br>It is the piano music which made the best 22 songs. New Age, movies, games, animations, etc., can be seen in various genres, and each sheet of music is directly attached to the author's QR code video.<br><br>If there is no problem, please respond.<br><br>Have a good day.
He’s definitely not a bad reviewer, and his writing style is pretty sharp. The obvious problem is that he has a strong bias against Zimmer. Most of his recent Zimmer reviews are less spent talking about themes and more so the “issues” with his current style.'At World's End' is possibly one of his greatest 'missteps' for sure, but he is a mostly reasonable guy when reviewing, and simply has a taste that doesn't accomodate a lot of the more modern sounding scores, which I think is ok, since we all have our preferences. His 'Solo' review is a must read for any fan of the score though. :DIf you want to understand why he's persona non grata, just go and check out his review of Hans Zimmer's masterpiece At World's End, it sums up pretty nicely the guy's mental issues :p<br><br>But his other reviews are mostly OK and that Solo one is indeed very good, worth a read.Who is he and why is he a persona non grata? ô_OHow dare you mention his name ??<br><br>I should erase that post... :P
What site are his reviews on again? Not really sure where to look.As long as Steve knows to keep this score mostly melodic with little to no sound design, I'll probably be happy with it.I assume that's the official cover....<br><br>I dig it. Very Die Hard-y : )I know Clemmensen is kind of persona non grata around here (not without good reason), but he put up his review of Solo a few days ago and it's one of the best he's ever written, a fantastic in-depth analysis (and appropriately positive). Worth spending an hour or two reading and listening to help unpack this score's many complexities. Is it just me or does the “Catwoman” riff (not the main theme) in “Bar Shootout” and “Nothing Out There” sound very much like the main Scarface theme?<br><br>I’ve also noticed that Hans sometimes will write a main tune and a series of riffs for a character, but will mainly incorporate the smaller motifs in the film (Angelica’s music from OST, Megamind’s main tune, Catwoman, etc.) Definitely not a problem though, I like the variety.<br><br>Look at the evolution of Batman’s theme from Begins, where he had the 2-note motif and the actual theme, to here where it’s just the 2 notes and the chord theme. I wonder if that was Chris Nolan’s decision.

THE SHOW

From April 2018 “The World of Hans Zimmer – A Symphonic Celebration“ goes on tour throughout Germany, accompanied by longstanding friends and colleagues of the rock star amongst film composers, with Hans Zimmer acting as curator and musical director, even though he himself will not perform at these concerts.

“The World of Hans Zimmer – A Symphonic Celebration” pulls out all the stops: In addition to visually striking projections of film sequences, a symphony orchestra under the direction of Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack conductor Gavin Greenaway creates an intense and unforgettable concert experience which – in contrast to “Hans Zimmer Live” – celebrates Zimmer’s compositions for large orchestra.

Together with a choir and top musicians from Hans Zimmer’s talent factory, such as Pedro Eustache, the flautist from the Pirates of the Caribbean series, and solo violinist Rusana Panfili, it creates a magical sound cosmos, with the hypnotic voice of Lisa Gerrard, whose hymn “Now We Are Free” from Gladiator remains unforgettable, floating above it all.

“The World of Hans Zimmer” – an unforgettable audio-visual concert experience.

Presented by Semmel Concerts, Tomek Productions & RCI Global, LLC.

Pearl Harbor: « … and then I Kissed him + part of «  Tennessee »
Rush: « Lost but Won"

Madagascar: "Best Friends"
Spirit: « Homeland » + « Run Free »

Hybrid, you said Hans dropped The Last Samurai for now... do you have any idea what tracks he used, though?

Mephariel2018-05-08 22:50:03
Thank you so much for the list. I could be wrong, but from what I seen on YouTube, I think:

The Lion King: This Land / Stampede / Mufasa Dies (could be Under the Stars) / end of The Rightful King

Also, Inception seems like a waste of a performance. The Time piece isn't even the one on the album.

Jonathan Rochat2018-05-11 09:54:43
Mephariel you’re right for the Lion King. in fact I was thinking of « Stampede » from the original album that includes Mufasa Death. Time and Dark Knight were maybe the less good track of the show. IMO, I was surprised by the amount and quality of the Da Vinci Code suite. More than 15 minutes of wonderful music, included the « Poisoned Chalice » track, one of my best Zimmer cue of the « 2000 » .

Mephariel2018-05-11 17:37:33
I still wish Zimmer would play the original version of Chevalier de Sangreal rather than the Inferno version. He played the Inferno version during his Hans Zimmer Live tour and because this tour is more symphonic, I am hoping for the complete original version instead.

Mephariel reply Replies: 21 || 2018-04-30 22:45:57
Based on YouTube videos, the program list confirmed so far:

Mission: Impossible 2
Gladiator
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
Pirates of the Caribbean
King Arthur
The Holiday
Rush
The Lion King
The Da Vinci Code
Inception
Kung Fu Panda
Madagascar
Pearl Harbor

From what I read:

Crysis
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

The program is nearly 3 hours long, so a lot must be missing.

Hybrid Soldier2018-04-30 23:19:57
The program is :

The Dark Knight
King Arthur
Mission: Impossible 2
Pearl Harbor
Rush
The Da Vinci Code

Madagascar
Spirit
Kung Fu Panda
The Holiday
Hannibal
The Lion King
Inception
POTC

Mephariel2018-04-30 23:31:02
Thanks Hybrid.

What is the opening introduction cue with all the animals? Did they just made that for the show or is it a Zimmer cue from a movie?

GR72018-05-01 02:05:09
Hybrid, it seems you forgot Gladiator in your program, as a youtube video shows a moment of the concert with The Battle.

Hybrid Soldier2018-05-01 10:02:51
In fact I did ! Gladiator indeed, beautiful suite !

The Wheat / Am I Not Merciful / Battle / Might Of Rome / Now We Are Free

Tim2018-05-01 12:01:42
where is Last Samurai? You've said so many times, that he wrote an epic suite for this event, and now they won't playing it again?

Mephariel2018-05-01 17:20:13
Yeah I was looking forward to The Last Samurai and I was disappointed that I it is not in the program.

But love everything that is on it. I enjoy this show much more than Hans Zimmer Live because with a real orchestra, Zimmer's music sounds so much better and more epic.

Olive2018-05-01 17:39:45
I do not know what the appeal of Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, Prince of Egypt or Road to The El Dorado would be much better.

Mephariel2018-05-01 17:56:17
I would love Prince of Egypt as well or Beyond Rangoon. I think they didn't want to do two African animated score in a roll. But I really love Kung Fu Panda so I don't mind. The performance however was two short. It is basically just Oogway's Ascend.

Hybrid Soldier2018-05-01 18:05:07
Hans said he fucked The Last Samurai up ! :)

He made something too long and it didn't fit the show... My 2 cents is it'll show up in the next tour, instead ! ;)

Scorefan2018-05-01 21:48:19
@Hybrid, news about a DVD/Blu ray release?

Hybrid Soldier2018-05-01 21:55:22
I said it before, I don't know...

If I do, I'll let everyone know !

mpolonest123 2018-05-01 22:51:59
Hopefully we get a CD/MP3 release like the other tour. There are some pretty cool arrangements in here.

Mike (OTM)2018-05-02 01:52:52
Did Hans actually write new music and expand on the old ideas for these "suites" (almost like writing a sequel with the same themes) or was he mainly just doing transitions between cues?

Mephariel2018-05-02 06:34:39
From what I saw on YouTube, I think they are mostly just suites of the soundtracks. But I think Pearl Harbor had some new material, I could be wrong.

Frenchans2018-05-02 15:21:45
Hey Hybrid ! Do you know which tracks from King Arthur are played in the concert ? :)

Cyberpunk882018-05-02 21:56:13
Can't wait to hear M:I 2, Am I Not Merciful, the Might Of Rome and the track(s) from King Arthur live for the first time! Too bad I have to wait till November

Randy Watson2018-05-03 19:15:21
Watched some clips on Youtube and Pedro Eustache annoys the shit out of me. Would've been better if they ditched him.

Mephariel2018-05-03 20:46:00
Pedro Eustache annoyed the shit out of me when he was performing in Hans Zimmer Live, but I thought he was ok here. His Kung Fu Panda theme is beautiful. However, there are some parts of the Lion King performance where his contributions added an unwanted layer of music.

Dfault2018-05-03 21:01:04
Hi Hybrid, thanks again for the info, much appreciated.

fs2018-05-08 10:41:26
Have seen the concert and i can say it is amazing. Hans says that this time it is a more symphonic version of his pieces compare to last year. In Detail:

The Dark Knight: Short suite. In my opinion one of the few pieces which did work with symphonic only. Did not sound that well. But it was short anyway.
King Arthur: Surprised to hear that. Perfect for that orchestra. Wanted more (yes it was too short) :)
Mission: Impossible 2: Even more surprised to hear this one ! The "Injection" Part is amazing with Lisa's voice.
Pearl Harbor: I think this one was heavily modified. Basically a new version of the piano theme. Very nice.
Rush: The Main Theme. Perfect match with the movie clip in the background and played great.
The Da Vinci Code: That was a tough one. They played more than 15 minutes a sketchbook version from Hans. I liked it but i
guess for some people this might have been a challenge to listen. Not sure if this was on the album.

Madagascar: Not the Main Theme but the "Best Friends" theme which is nice too. Great start into the second half of the concert.
Spirit: A highlight. Orchestra played it epic.
Kung Fu Panda: Very short but beautiful.
The Holiday: I guess this one is unknown by the most but it is a upbeat and good feeling piece so i am sure for most a great surprise.
Hannibal: Love theme from Hannibal.
The Lion King: This time they played only the Hans pieces from it and i loved to hear the Stampede action music ! Lion King is always amazing.
Inception: Time. Played with Hans on piano on the video projection.
POTC: I thought i get tired of the pirates but this one has blown me away: "I dont think now is the best time" played in full epic scale.
Sound was perfect ! Drop Zone theme too ;)

So if you have seen the last years concert this one is different, with lots of new material and different style. Execution is perfect, the players are amazing.

Some minor possible improvements (basically same like last year): Strings and melody layers sometimes get swallowed by the percussion or by pedros flute (which was sometimes one layer too much).

fs2018-05-08 10:50:00
well.. forgot Gladiator lol but it should not be missed as it was with the first battle scenes on the screen. "Mighty rome" scenes were great to listen too.

@hyrid

Is there going to be a concert dvd/br + audio release like other concert?

If not, can you ask hans to please make it so, would love to buy it have it. thanks

Are more concerts planned? I read one in Madrid is planned. Also concerts are popping up in Poland and Ukraine (same theme but not this official one it seems.

Mephariel reply Replies: 2 || 2018-04-21 20:23:51
Hybrid, Hollywood in Vienna just announced that Zimmer will be receiving the Max Steiner award. Do you know if the Hollywood in Vienna program the same as the The World of Hans Zimmer program? If it is, King Arthur is confirmed to be in the program as well.

Olive2018-04-23 02:28:01
Probably not. The two are indepedent events.

Mephariel2018-04-23 05:30:24
They are independent events, but I think they are working in conjunction with each other. I based this on the description on the Vienna website. Their program is called The World of Hans Zimmer and some of the arrangements will be written by Zimmer himself. That leads me to believe this year's gala is a bit different and is just a stop for Zimmer's tour.

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 8 || 2018-04-13 15:28:05
So, since people have asked questions about this.

Yes, it is different from the tour, no Hans & his band are not on stage (some of the musicians are back, though).

And YES it's a HZ show, Hans curated, rebuilt & selected the music for it. Hans was part of it from day 1, supervising it.

Thanks for the information Hybrid
Plans for a DVD/BLu Ray Release in the future?

Hybrid Soldier2018-04-13 16:23:14
Isn't that a bit... early ? lol

Mephariel2018-04-13 16:42:38
Hi Hybrid,

I asked this before, but is there a confirm list of soundtracks they will be playing? I read that The Last Samurai, The Da Vinci Code, Pearl Harbor, The Lion King, Gladiator, Inception, and Kung Fu Panda are part of the show.

Hybrid Soldier2018-04-13 16:53:26
No, there's not... And knowing how this works, they'd prefer to keep some of the program hidden as a surprise for the show itself.

Klaus2018-04-14 14:07:39
Hi! There is a confirmed a show in Madrid (Spain), 3 of July in Teatro Real (Royal Theater). See it in his official of the Teatro Real. :)

Dfault2018-04-14 17:12:25
Thanks Hybrid for the work. Keep us posted if any news!

pureocean2018-04-14 19:19:30
I hope, this time will be interpreted at least two track from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

Cyberpunk882018-04-15 11:51:19
I did read in a description of a German trailer for this show that they are gonna play themes from MW2 and Crysis 2 live for the first time, so I think those are kinda confirmed
