The Japanese version can be ordered here: http: //www.cdjapan.co.jp/ product/WPCR-18185<br><br>The "Swan Song" is also included on the CD. So it has 3 additional tracks.Theres quite a bit of good unreleased stuff from this score. Stuff like the cue that plays during Alita's first game of motorball with the other kids, the bar fight music, the unused string rendition of Alita's theme and the end titles arrangement of Motorball/Swan Song.Does anyone have the "Motorball" cue from end credits? It sounds like the beginning of the "Motorball" track but it's different than on the OST. It plays directly after the Swan Song track...<br><br>Why is it left off the CD?Huh... Do people at RCP ask H-Z.com to use the official, less accurate credits in some cases? I seem to recall some credit fiasco on POTC4.So what happened to the credits here? It used to be a mixture of solo Atli cues with Atli/Dave Fleming, and now all three guys are credited for every track even though Tillman is only listed as a musician? Is this like with Armageddon, where the "official" credits aren't as accurate as the older ones were? :p
Most of the album is comprised of suites, with one consistent tempo per track. <br><br>The material that was scored to picture was scored using the risset rhythm technique, which gave a lot of those tracks their "infinitely getting faster" feeling in the film, so the tempo is always climbing in the film versions. The suites have a stable tempo (except for a couple normal tempo changes, which are different)Not really any... "Nothing Out There" contains the sad piano theme from Begins and Dark Knight, but otherwise the themes that get reprised are pretty much Hans stuff. <br><br>Speaking of credits, any chance the complete score page could be updated with what's out there and official?Could somebody tell me in what cues JNH's themes appear on album?Yeah, that cue was either a last minute rewrite or one of the music editors did it.... As for where you can find it...Google is your friend. But it's not going to be available anywhere officially.I think it will be in between NOT ORDINARY CITIZEN / THE SLOW KNIFE and IMAGINE THE FIRE, Does anybody know where can I find it?<br>
I noticed that this score doesn't has the soundtrack of the part where Blake is taking the people to the bridge and he is discusing with the other police officer before he blows the bridgeThat's right, I forgot about that... And I totally agree about the score vs. the album. I had no use for this score on album at first, but now that I've watched the movie a few times, I can really hear the logic behind the score and I "get it." <br><br>I still don't get the music as heard on album, though. Are the longer pieces some early suites Hans wrote? Or did he specifically make these arrangements for the album? Do you know the answer to that one, Hybrid?I wanna say I heard the full Cat Suite somewhere... I can't remember if it was legit, but it was 15:39 and it was indeed quite repetitive. It was basically the Selina Kyle Suite from the Z+ app, along with demos of several of the Catwoman-related cues in the final score. If you've listened through the score, you've basically heard the unreleased stuff.@Mike<br>Zimmer has said in interviews that he “mapped out” the film with one long piece of music to establish the changing tempo of the story, and apparently the script was written to capture the rhythmic feel of the film. So from the very beginning the story was always split up between the three.<br><br>I think a big part of the initial disappointment with the score was the album presentation, which gives off the impression that the music is just some sound design that Zimmer threw together (this is how I personally felt when I first gave it a listen). In actuality it’s a technically impressive score, I really can’t think of any other film score that is so synchronized with a film’s tempo and flows as one long piece of music. Apparently it was a nightmare for Hans, especially when the smallest edits to the film would ruin the flow.<br><br>Doing the 59-minute album was a pretty big disservice to the whole purpose of the music. If you remove one piece the whole thing falls apart, which is part of the reason the album feels so disjointed.Anyone here listened "The Predator" FYC score? <br>Any chance to compare tracklist and running time with official release?
These versions suites haven't been officially released, but maybe you can find them somewhere around the Internet unofficially.<br><br>As for the Cat Suite, the most important parts of it can be found in "Selina Kyle" (it's a shortened version of it actually) and "Mind if I cut in?" from the OST. I remember that Hybrid once said that the 15mins Cat Suite was too repetitive, that's why a 5min only version was released, so maybe you are just fine with those two.<br>Where can I listen to the Cat Suite? Or is it literally: Selina Kyle Theme? <br>The Mole P1 (0-1:57)<br>Regimental Brothers P1 (0-1:19)<br>The Mole P2 (1:57-3:44)<br>Regimental Brothers P3 (2:44 onward)<br>We Need Our Army Back<br>Shivering Soldier<br>Supermarine P1 (0-2:47)<br>The Mole P3 (3:45 onward)<br>We Need Our Army Back (again) <br>Supermarine P2 (*5:33)<br>Impulse<br>The Tide<br>Home <br>The Oil <br>Variation 15<br>End Credits <br><br>As everyone said already, the album is made up of suites that combine several cues and several "sounds" used in various places. For example, the is a sound in The Mole (At 2:05) that sounds like a fuse being ignited. This sound is actually right after The Tide in the film.<br>The only tracks that are almost identical to the film are: The Tide, Variation 15 and End Credits, the rest is different. <br><br>So if you were to order the tracks as first heard in the film it would be: <br>The Mole <br>Regimental Brothers <br>We Need Our Army Back<br>Shivering Soldier <br>Supermarine <br>Impluse <br>The Tide <br>Home <br>The Oil<br>Variation 15<br>End credits<br><br>As much as I enjoyed listening to this release, I wish they didn't butcher the score the way they did. I like the suites but there are so many great cues in this film that weren't released. If only they released an isolated score track on Blu-ray. Listening to film extracts is just not enough.I noticed that as well — the ticking goes all through the movie, except for the boat scenes, and only stops when they get on the train. <br><br>I wonder...could the film have originally been shot so that the beach, sea, and air sequences were there own arcs, and the longer album tracks were written for that? And then Nolan went in and turned the movie into the frenetic, constantly cutting-back-and-forth final product? <br><br>While the album is fine, I personally don't understand why we couldn't have just gotten the film cues. They might have had to stitch several together for each track, but it could have worked.Does anyone know where you can get a digital version of the Japanese versions 2 bonus tracks?

Is there any news about that expanded/deluxe album Rupert talked about on twitter? I would love to get my hands on more material from the score as the album is missing so much...

mpolonest123 2019-02-16 21:28:13
Same here. Considering how well the film has done I am surprised that Warner Bros. hasn’t rushed out a Deluxe Edition by now.

I’m personally dying to hear the full Sicily fight sequence, which includes that badass Mera action motif.

Rupert & Harry are teaming up and scoring the limited series Catch 22 about the incomparable, artful dodger, Yossarian, a US Air Force bombardier in World War II who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him.

Very exited!!!! Love to hear the two brothers team up!!!

Does anybody has any info if it will be available on CD again? It is out of stock everywhere or even absolutely disappeared from the stores (like amazon, which doesn't even list it anymore)
It's weird that a non limited CD that was released barely a month ago goes out of print so soon.
(Yes, I know I can have it digitally but I'm a CD guy, sorry.)

Good day to you all,

Since I saw the film, and have listened to what was offered commercially for the score/soundtrack, all I can think of/hope for is that there may be a more complete version out there.

Is there any word on if there was a "for your consideration" version or what it would take to get Mr. Williams to release the Recording Sessions?

Just really loved the score and would enjoy hearing more of it without all of the effects/dialogue.

spidercrossings2018-12-21 17:38:38
"...all I can think of/hope for is that there may be a more complete version out there. "

There better be because goddammit Mera's theme isn't in the OST. I loved it so damn much. The whole track during the ancient recording device activation is dope but is missing the OST. :/

You realize that Mera's theme is the Everything I Need song ?

DomCobb272018-12-22 18:25:46
And the Mera’s theme is also present in the track « Between land and sea » .

Fun fact: Mera plays the song on the recorder/flute on the boat.

mpolonest123 2018-12-29 20:13:22
^ Fingers crossed, there is a handful of important cues missing from this release (including a great MOS-type choral piece during the tsunami scene)

I’m also hoping for Charlie Clouser’s remix of “It’s No Good” to actually get a release as well, not sure why they left that off and opted for that awful Pitbull cover...

I watched the movie today and it's awesome and epic.
James Wan proof once again he is an amazing director.
The movie maintain the same level just like Man of Steel and Wonder Woman
The score, What can i say?. I really enjoyed Wonder Woman but with Aquaman, Rupert gets another level. The score in the film sounds amazing.
Now, it will be the turn of Benjamin in Shazam.

JBSO99 reply Replies: 7 || 2018-12-13 15:22:36
I listened to the track Arthur and it sounds really great. It's an unexpected mix of orchestra and synths (almost 80's style) with a really great theme I suppose is for Aquaman.

I hope the rest of the score is like this.

Jenova2018-12-13 16:07:29
The kind of spacey synth parts reminds me of Blade Runner 2049, and for some reason, Michael Giacchino's work on Star Trek. The more orchestrated triumphant version of the theme is a little like the melodies heard on the Destiny 2 soundtrack.

MrZimmerFan2018-12-13 19:13:53
It's a good score, nice blend between orchestra and synths.

But, i think WW is more interesting score

fkik2018-12-13 22:03:50
Where can we listen this score ?

Jenova2018-12-13 22:12:50
I imagine iTunes and Spotify by Friday. The people commenting on it have likely heard a leaked version.

mpolonest123 2018-12-14 02:25:50
@MrZimmerFan

Gotta agree with you, I definitely think WW is a far stronger score. That’s not to say I think Aquaman is bad, but none of the themes have really impressed me at all. The orchestral/synth hybrid is pretty cool, but once again I think it was done far better with Thor: Ragnarok.

(Will say this though; “Black Manta” is a badass track)

Anonymous2018-12-14 15:43:29

anyone care to take a stab at the chronological trask listing?

Micah2018-12-17 00:44:40
Off the top of my head:

It Wasn't Meant To Be
Atlantean Soldiers
Permission To Come Aboard
Swimming Lessons
Kingdom of Atlantis
The Legend of Atlan
The Ring of Fire
What Does That Even Mean?
Map In A Bottle
The Black Manta
Trench Engaged
Reunited
What Could Be Greater Than A King?
He Commands The Sea
Suited And Booted

Not sure about Arthur, Between Land And Sea, and He Commands The Sea. I think Arthur may be a suite that includes his main theme, the Atlantis chase, and some action themes. I'd have to listen to the other two tracks again to be sure, but I think He Commands The Sea is near the end.

Iamtommie2018-12-17 14:22:33
I think it's like this:

It Wasn't Meant To Be

Permission To Come Aboard

Map In A Bottle
The Black Manta

What Could Be Greater Than A King?

Between The Land Amd Sea
He Commands The Sea

Arthur is a suite I think

Ds2018-12-17 19:06:00
I think 'Arthur' is more a combination of cues than a proper suite.
Not sure, but I'd say the first part plays before 'Permission to come aboard', and the second part plays after 'The Ring of fire'.
'Reunited' is definitely the final cue.

And there's shitload of action music missing after 'The Black Manta' though :-p

mpolonest123 reply Replies: 1 || 2018-12-17 17:26:59
OK, now that I’ve had some time to sit on this I can say that I get the praise finally. The Vangelis inspiration works wonders for the score, and it actually is integrated incredibly well (as opposed to just being there for show).

Themewise, both the Arthur and Atlanna tunes are winners. Not sure why the album is so out of sequence though. I feel like the actual film presentation would give better thematic development.

mpolonest123 2018-12-17 17:28:04
And just to clarify, “Atlantean Soldiers” is Orms’ theme right?

aldan reply Replies: 8 || 2018-12-13 17:27:23
the main theme is quite similar to Jackman's Kingsman ( the first three note)

andd..

I assume it is the studio's mandate for RGW to go (and adapt..or imitate?) Mothersbaugh's Ragnarok with its 80s synth.

----

Having seen the movie, i understand why RGW chose the 80s style, because basically, Aquaman is Thor Ragnarok underwater.
Dont get me wrong, the visual spectacle is amazing and colorful ( in a good way), some of the cinematography is downright breathtaking, but i really did have a hardtime enjoying this movie in its fullness beacuse the blatant Ragnarok ripping-off here and there.., and dont get me started on the story...
Really, the visual did the heavy lifting in this movie ( and it succeeded in overcoming the weak storyline)

Hari Haran2018-12-13 17:56:54
Mothersbaugh isn't the only person out there to use 80s synth, you know. You are after all, on the website named after perhaps the greatest pioneer of it in terms of film music.

Also, there is nothing about this film that screams "Thor Ragnarok" ripoff. If anything, the appropriate place to compare is Black Panther- however, as Aquaman and his mythology predates Black Panther by several years, that argument is rendered moot.

Sure, we have regal similarities (king, set in kingdom, evil half brother) but it literally ends there. The story is quite basic, but nowhere like Ragnarok in its entirety. Ragnarok was about two brothers putting aside their differences to stop their evil sister from unleashing Ragnarok itself, whilst Aquaman is about Arthur Curry being forced to reconnect with his Atlantean heritage, and it's explicitly a quest for him to clear Atlantis from a corrupt, purist ruler who wants to hurt the surface world because of how the humans have been mistreating the seas. Aquaman is very much its own thing, and it doesn't need any such comparisons. And I bet, it will stomp past Ragnarok at the box office overall.

Hybrid Soldier2018-12-13 18:07:57
And maybe there's too much synth work in both cause... Andrew K worked on both ?! lol

Oscarilbo2018-12-14 17:41:08
Creatively speaking I can see why they choose that particular synth style, and my guess has nothing to do with that Thor Rganarok score.

It has MUCH to do with one composer: VANGELIS. You cannot see Aquaman landscapes and not to think of Vangelis (Blade Runner to be precise) and by all means, if you know well Mr. Papathanassiou's body of work, in his style.. he even has an album called OCEANIC.

I mean, RGW even uses the same exact 5 notes in which Vangelis tended to end up some of his themes, as also closing notes for one of his themes. It has nothing to do with Ragnarok.. lets not be so short sighted please.

Anonymous2018-12-15 15:43:20
Makes you wonder why they didn't get Vangelis himself.

Anonymous2018-12-15 17:49:57
by that logic he would’ve done blade runner 2049. He’s retired

Anonymous2018-12-16 17:32:03
Does the cue "Arthur" play during the film or is it a theme suite?

Everan2018-12-16 22:02:34
Yes, both played in the film, and it's sort of a suite: It's split into two in the film, first part sounds close to the opening, the heavy synth part plays in really well when it's used, you'll hear it the moment it starts, no spoilers from me, but it's an awesome sequence.

Mephariel2018-12-17 07:31:58
Everything from "He Commands the Sea" on is awesome. In many ways, this is a RCP superhero score. Not much depth, but contains some awesome highlights.

Iamtommie reply Replies: 0 || 2018-12-12 23:17:07
OK. Aquaman is a great film with some flaws. Momoa, Heard, Wilson, Kidman & Lundgren are very good. IMO the movie has a rocky start, but from a certain scene the movie takes flight and never comes down.

Gregson-Williams' score is awesome I think. It sounds like a mix between BvS, WW & BR2049 with some gituar, drums & piano here and there. Very curious what kind of release it will get.

For me Wonder Woman is still the best DCEU movie but Aquaman isn't far behind!!! Solid 8.8

MrZimmerFan2018-12-06 17:34:38
Expect a lot, lot of brass ;) and certain sound design

mpolonest123 2018-12-06 17:53:08
I’m in the same boat. The past few years have been disappointing in terms of Junkie’s output. Most of the scores he’s written have been rehashes of his earlier (and arguably) stronger works. You have the harsh drumming, sound design, and power anthems overlaid with electronics. It seems like he’s been on repeat since 2015.

While I doubt Mortal Engines or Alita: Battle Angel will be much different, I’m still hoping that he can at least surprise everyone with a consistently strong score.

Mike reply Replies: 15 || 2018-11-27 19:14:33
So if RGW is consistently doing these films...and Hans is back for Wonder Woman...can we assume Elfman's Justice League was just a blip on the DC radar?

Hari Haran2018-11-27 21:09:39
That is exactly what that was. A minor, albeit very irritating accident.

Things are back on track, though. :)

Knight2018-11-27 21:18:54
I wonder who will be the composers for all these spinoff films ex. Birds of Prey, The Batman, Flash etc as apparently Hildur Gudnadottir is scoring the Joker film. So maybe the RCP hold on the DC films is weakening :(

Mephariel2018-11-28 00:39:29
I think with the spinoff films, and the detachment from the DCEU, it totally make sense to move away from RCP because directors will have more of a say how they want those films to look and sound like, so they probably will hand pick composers more in line with their own vision rather than just following the train.

That is not a bad thing at all.

I second this. I think DC should keep things on the RCP plane to stay relevant and consistent. I say this because Zimmer seems to be falling by the wayside in terms of popularity....Hopefully he comes back to it.

Well, it was nice while it lasted. Back to the One Sound Fits All approach I guess.

Curious which temp track RGW will ripp off this time :)

Mephariel2018-11-28 16:48:34
Zimmer will have Dark Phoenix, The Lion King, Wonder Woman 1984, and Top Gun: Maverick in the next 2 years. I wouldn't worry about Zimmer falling to the wayside.

Edmund Meinerts2018-11-28 18:33:16
Any "wayside falling" by Zimmer of late has largely been by his own choice, due to spending so much time touring. The 2015-2018 period has had some of the lowest activity of Zimmer's career IMO, with a lot of the scores he's involved in being highly collaborative (even moreso than usual), rather minor works, or both. I'd say the only Zimmer scores to come out in that period that you could call significant are Batman v Superman, Dunkirk, and maaaaybe Chappie (although that one has a lot of Mazzaro/Andrew K involvement).

Mephariel2018-11-28 19:15:33
You can pretty much tell which project he was highly involved in by his interviews. I think he did a lot of Dunkirk and Blue Planet II, and was somewhat involved in Hidden Figures, Batman v Superman, and Inferno, and only marginally involved in Blade Runner 2049, The Boss Baby, and Planet Earth II.

Hari Haran2018-11-28 19:46:50
And KFP 3 and Inferno too, Edmund.

"Somewhat" involved with BvS ???????

Every single melody in that film was written by him...

Mephariel2018-11-28 23:47:54
Hybrid, that is why you need to create a forum so we can have an edit button :).

Edmund Meinerts2018-11-29 09:50:13
Inferno is in the same category as Charlie for me, feels like Mazzaro/AK did a lot of the grunt work, and KFP3 is one of the collaborative scores I mentioned with only a few Zimmer cues.

Edmund Meinerts2018-11-29 09:50:58
*Chappie, not Charlie. What was that about an edit button? :p

Excuse me, I'll be right back, I just have to finish laughing my ass off for every idiot on this thread and outside of it who confidently thought otherwise. XD

Got to hear this the other day and it is phenomenal. Definitely more electronics than I was expecting (in a good way). It’s got a great blend of Orchestra, electronics and electric guitars throughout. There’s even a reoccurring riff in it that reminds me of Ramin’s Clash of the Titans. Closest thing I can compare it to is Brian Tyler’s Power Rangers score, but with a much beefier Zimmer sound.

Nice! Can't wait to hear it.

Definitely excited for this. It’s been a down year for me in terms of RCP scores (Fallout and Solo being the big highlights for me) so hopefully this one turns out well.

Going off of James Wan’s comments it seems like the film will have more of a “swashbuckling” tone. Hopefully the music will be more adventurous in style (while still fitting in the established DCEU style of course).

RGW is a solid composer though, so I’m not worried.
