<br>
<br>Haha no.
<br>
<br>You gotta realize being an additional composer is not exactly an easy thing. Some jump ship after a few years or have other aspirations, try to work solo and so on.
<br>
<br>Vörlander worked for Junkie from 2010 to 2015, then started his own business of writing for commercials, trailers etc. (it's called 2WEI, in Germany) He even did keep working on some trailers for JXL's scores after that, or helped on FIFA 17. Junkie had Aljoscha Christenhuß who worked for him from 2015 to 2018. Then Antonio jointed in 2016, Sara Barone joined more recently last year.
<br>
<br>Thomas is doing his own thing too, he founded Chromium Music and is doing some solo projects now.
<br>
<br>Jasha, after working for Lorne & Hans, "transfered" to Bleeding Fingers but after a while left to focus on his own solo career too.
<br>
<br>Ultimately, everyone leaves, sooner or later... :)
@Hybrid, I was always wondering, what happened to composers like Thomas Farnon, Jasha Klebe or Christian Vorlander - why are they not working with Lorne/Junkie anymore? Did they get fired or did they just move on? I find it weird, that Lorne/Rupert/Junkie/Etc would fire their additional composers after all those years of collaboration.The theme he was supposed to write but didn't ? :D lol<br><br>Well don't take word for word what he says. He's being general, the interview was for Forbes afterall.<br><br>Just take the extract we got, it had a quote from BvS that had nothing to do with either Superman or Wonder Woman... lol*forgot to mentioned"Besides the Man of Steel theme for Superman and the theme for Wonder Woman, which I have given a new spin, all the other themes for this movie are brand new,”<br><br>I hope Tom just forget to mention about Batman's theme and will reuse it too, because if he don't, then what's the point of it?Junkie's score for GvK is probably going to be better than his score for Justice League if he is that interested in doing a score for a godzilla movie.

Really love the fact Lorne Balfe is posting the score music for all of the themes for piano.Volume 1 has to be the best tv soundtrack this year

mpolonest123 2019-12-22 14:33:39
Hate on the man’s music all you want, I’ve never seen a composer interact and give so much to his fans. Really cool guy!

Is Balfe doing Bond ?

Mr.Unbreakable2019-12-22 00:00:55
Nope,The composer is Dan Romer (Maniac).

Mr.Unbreakable reply Replies: 1 || 2019-12-21 02:07:54
Something has failed with the complete score, knowing what Balfe is capable of doing by arranger good themes, I don't quite understand why the score stands out so little.

mpolonest123 2019-12-21 02:49:10
Having seen the first few episodes I was surprised at how “in the background” the music really was. Especially compared to the excellent concept album released earlier.

I took a spin with the new album, there are still some standout tracks but I do feel like a good chunk has that underscore feeling to it.

Loving the complete score for His Dark Materials.Silver Guillotone, Armored Claws and Polar Adventure are the best cues of the album.This soundtrack and 6 Underground have made Christmas !

Balfe reply Replies: 2 || 2019-12-20 13:55:40
I am willing to give Balfe the benefit - the concept album is great and there are good points in the show - but the actual score is frigging terrible. Like a cheap youtube approximation of Hans Zimmer. What the fuck is this?

Drone2019-12-20 14:01:49
So, either Balfe does all the great music, and the drones get on it and make it sound synthetic and pointless, or Balfe likes the pointless......Who composed the His Dark Material Anthology? Who composed the score for the BBC show? And what the fuck happened in between? The themes are the same but the performance is totally different and the theme development is pitiful. So is it the case that Balfe did a 50 minute concept album with an actual orchestra that some interns put to picture, cos this is a massive disappointment?

badbu2019-12-20 14:54:18
i like the complete score very much!
the cue "everyone is special" is amazing!

Yeah, the actual score is actually pretty bad. Totally synthy, or at least cheap two-band orchestra, HZ-trailer muzak from the early 2000s. What happened here - massive disappointment.

maholen reply Replies: 0 || 2019-12-19 10:36:10
You don't have to agree with me. But it is my attitude towards the music of Lorne Balfe and as I mentioned. Not everything is bad, but not everything is really good either. His scores are uninteresting after listening to them a third time at the latest. Precisely because everything sounds familiar. He was a good composer for additional music for various Hans Zimmer scores. And yes, he was also one of the additional composers for the first two parts of Transformers. Not all Remote Control composers are suitable for being the main composer. I also don't want to hear music from the same people all the time. That's why I'm open to film music. I've been listening to film music for almost 30 years! So I know what I'm talking about. Of course you cannot know everything. But I don't want to know everything either. In my opinion, Lorne Balfe should take a slightly more careful look at his work and not deliver one score after the next. That's why his music is so monotonous. Rarely do you experience surprises and unfortunately there are not really many in 6 undergrounds. The drums on "Tons of Blood" don't sound bad, but it's better that way. It reminds me of the gaming soundtrack by Need for Speed &#8203;&#8203;- The Run by Brian Tyler. There are great drums in there. So don't take it personally, just accept it.

This is Balfe’s best music yet for sure and shows a side to his musical skills we don’t get to hear much I think.
It’s been interesting reading posts about Balfe doing Bond.Has he confirmed yet if he is ?

NotSoAnonymous2019-11-13 17:32:06
Well, "No Time To Die" (Bond 25) is being scored by Dan Romer. So, No; he is not scoring it.

Anonymous2019-11-13 22:36:22
lol no he’s not

HunterTech2019-11-14 01:37:02
The report about Romer leaving wasn't even confirmed, so I think it's just people wanting the expected to happen at this point.

;)2019-11-14 18:34:27
Neither Romer or Balfe are scoring Bond 25

NotSoAnonymous2019-11-15 17:36:12
Well, unless you have a source, or can point to a credible publication reporting Romer is not scoring it, I think it is safe to assume (for now) that the composer announced and still listed on the official website as the composer for the film is in-fact the composer for the film..

He wouldn't be my personal choice for the job, but I am not going to ignorantly pretend that he isn't currently the hired composer.

;)2019-11-15 21:20:21
Ok.

AlitaFan2019-12-17 21:57:48
I heard Hans Zimmer is scoring Bond 25 :)

Miralsice2019-12-17 22:05:09
Just rumors, nothing else :)

;)2019-12-18 02:09:39
Might want to start believing those “rumors” lol.

HunterTech2019-12-19 00:26:25
With the amount of projects Zimmer has for 2020 already, there's a lot time he'd have to squeeze in if he needed to get job done by April. Balfe at least looks to be done with his current slate of upcoming movies, so he has a higher chance.

JD2019-12-19 01:40:21
What is your source?

HunterTech2019-12-19 09:21:03
Well that's what I want to ask the others, since Zimmer's 2020 line up has definitely been confirmed (WW84, Dune, Top Gun 2, Spongebob 3 (as of now)). With Balfe, Military Wives had its TIFF screening back in September, and Bad Boys For Life is just next month. So that gives him barely enough time to squeeze in, if he were to be hired.

“The Alethiometer” might be my new favorite track of the year. Those chord progressions scream JNH/Jerry Goldsmith and are pretty similar to Balfe’s work on Beyond: Two Souls/Blackwood.

I’m glad to see this score getting some love, I’ve always been annoyed with how people seem to slam Balfe for his more workmanlike efforts while ignoring the stronger scores he has done over the years.

I really like this score. Not a big fan of Balfe, but really enjoy this one.

And is it me or does The Tales Of Lee Scoresby really sound like Sweetwater from Westworld?

Okay, so I'm not the biggest Balfe fan, but when he does it right, I have to recognize it.

And this is a really good example of the best he can achieve. Tracks like the main theme, The Alethiometer, The Strength of Gyptians or A Plea To Fate show how great he can be, and makes me wonder why he would not use this style more often in his scores.

Anyway, I cannot wait to hear how he develops and uses the themes when the score album is released!

Ds2019-11-05 23:33:28
I fully agree. 2019 has been a bit disappointing musically, and I have the impression this score finally shakes things up a bit! Possibly a shot at my favourite of the year. Looking forward to the rest of the show & the music!

superultramegaa2019-11-06 03:44:31
Damn. After skimming the album, you might be right about this being a great product from Balfe. Jesus, woodwinds, beautiful string and choral writing, melody, and an overall creative sound pallet. The only other score of his that gets close to this quality IMO is Genius Season 2.

There are a few moments where the electronics sound ugly and overbearing, but they're thankfully pretty sparse.

I fully agree that we need more of this Lorne style!

Ro reply Replies: 0 || 2019-11-05 17:22:15
Alethiometer is a peculiar track and my favorite cue of the album.

It starts off with a Piano motif that is not awfully different from James Newton Howard's central theme for Signs. From there it briefly touches upon the Watergate Piano chord from Frost/Nixon. There are also times when I am almost ready to hear something from "Da Vinci Code" though it doesn't fully materialize.

The orchestral parts have hints of "Sky Ferry" from the Golden Compass by Alexandre Desplat too. I am also hearing a faint reference to the chorus melody of "Arriving At Atoll" from Waterworld.

What a journey!

I have to admit I totally eat all my negative words about Balfe. This is a fantastic and innovative score, full of great melodies, full orchestrations, vocal work, and innovative instrumentation. Clearly, he has spent a lot of time developing this. A clear sense of thematic purpose and melody!
