It's nothing short of a masterpiece, a modern opera. The choir is beautiful, and the choice of gospel for the first track gives it a unique identity, though I'm not sure how well it meshes with the orchestra. It feels a bit off, but will hopefully improve for me on further listens.

The composition, has to me, elevated Powell to the status of the second best living composer (Williams is still first for now). Rogue One is a bit of an odd one. From what I'd heard, Desplat had joined on the condition he'd be allowed to do his own thing and not ape Williams. But once they decided to overhaul the film, they pressured him to go that exact direction. Things stayed still for a while (in which he still got paid) before he was finally let go very late into production. So the idea he sorta just left is interesting, so I'm curious to hear what that was about.

For BW, it seems very likely to me that Marvel simply were unsure about Alexandre's music, so I'm guessing they hired Balfe to do some demos and decided from there. Who knows what the exact timeline is, but I'd wager it'd have to at least be this year if he's been on it a bit. Especially with AD's name having stayed on the posters during it.Hybrid, Desplat left Rogue One just for his own idea? I know he left that movie beacuse schedule conflict for the reshoots.
But for Black Widow seems that the replacement was since months ago with Lorne writing and recording the score at the same timeht tp:// filmmusicreporter. com/2020/04/01/ track-list-for-disneys-live-action-mulan -soundtrack-album-revealed/

Why release a tracklist for an album that won't be released for another 6 months at least. That's just a punch in the gut, in my opinionSo it won't be a last minute and hasty job?No idea but he was on it for a bit, I think.
Hybrid, do you know how long Lorne had to score?Score is recorded already.Yup, which makes me wonder if they had to wait before announcing it, considering Desplat was still being listed in posters prior to the delay.I think Lorne teased this some time ago by sending a picture of researching Russian music on insta (maybe)Hello,

I'm looking for the translation of the song God Yu Tekkem Laef Blong Mi in English of French.

Could anyone help me ?

Thank you !

the soundtrack is good, it doesn't even sound like it was Tom. But what a missed opportunity to not use the iconic green hills theme from the game. That's like not using the Super Mario theme in his movie.

mpolonest123 2020-02-13 21:02:38
It could be a situation like Detective Pikachu where the actual piece using the older theme was left off the album, maybe anyone who has seen the film can confirm?

MrZimmerFan2020-02-13 23:33:40
Quite surprised by this one, i was expecting a orchestral score, but is nice orchestrated and tremendously fun score, also much better than Detective Pikachu

The classic Sonic games are notorious for their legal mumbo jumbo leaving a lot of music pieces from being used in most later projects. I guess it's possible that being this a Hollywood production, they could afford at least the Sonic 1 stuff. We'll have to see once more people see the film.

Hybrid Soldier2020-02-15 14:48:10
The classic Sonic theme does appear for a very short (like 20 sec) cue near the end, some comedic piano arrangement of it.

mpolonest123 2020-02-19 19:27:44
I’ve been coming back to “But I Will Always Be Faster” and “Sonic The Hedgehog” repeatedly, I’m genuinely impressed by how strong the writing is in both cues. Honestly it doesn’t sound like Holkenborg (mixing aside).

MrZimmerFan2020-02-20 09:17:46
There is a quite of the trademark style of Tom in this, his percussion, synths and brass

superultramegaa2020-02-20 16:16:33
From what I've seen the score sounds so different because Antonio heavily worked on it (as almost every track is on his soundcloud, or was at one point).

Hybrid Soldier2020-02-20 16:22:39
Have you guys ever listened to anything Tom did in Nederland before saying it's "different" ? :P

mpolonest123 2020-02-20 17:24:15
@Hybrid

I did manage to manage to listen to the Gelukkige score he did, it’s an interesting mix of horror music, emotional piano stuff, and some upbeat pop elements that reminded me of Megamind lol.

Btw, was his concert music for the “Battle of Peace” show ever released? It’s a pretty badass mix of 300, Mad Max, and some epic choral portions.

What a fun little score!

The style isn’t too much from HZ’s animated scores, just with Tom’s usual trademarks (percussion, brass, synths). There are even a few moments throughout that vaguely reminded me of Megamind’s score, esp. in the action sequences.

It’s nothing groundbreaking but it definitely has me more interested in what he will do with “Scoob”...

According to Film Music Reporter, Tom is also scoring Scoob!

MrZimmerFan2020-01-28 10:39:49
Judging by the clips of this movie, it will be a good choice.

I can't wait for this one, after seeing those clips

mpolonest123 2020-01-28 14:25:08
LOL!

He has had some experience with animated projects, I’m interested to hear him do more diverse projects like that.
