It's nothing short of a masterpiece, a modern opera. The choir is beautiful, and the choice of gospel for the first track gives it a unique identity, though I'm not sure how well it meshes with the orchestra. It feels a bit off, but will hopefully improve for me on further listens.

The composition, has to me, elevated Powell to the status of the second best living composer (Williams is still first for now). It's pure orchestral beauty and mastery with variety of texture, color, and style, with seamless tonal transitions. The complexity rivals some of the great works of the past.

It's strange to me that this is called "choral works". Sure the choir is an important element, but it really should be named "Hubris Symphony", or "Hubris: The Opera", because that's the status the album deserves.

The Syndicate (Unused) (6:00)
36. Change Of Plan (Unused) (5:47)Rogue One is a bit of an odd one. From what I'd heard, Desplat had joined on the condition he'd be allowed to do his own thing and not ape Williams. But once they decided to overhaul the film, they pressured him to go that exact direction. Things stayed still for a while (in which he still got paid) before he was finally let go very late into production. So the idea he sorta just left is interesting, so I'm curious to hear what that was about.

For BW, it seems very likely to me that Marvel simply were unsure about Alexandre's music, so I'm guessing they hired Balfe to do some demos and decided from there. Who knows what the exact timeline is, but I'd wager it'd have to at least be this year if he's been on it a bit. Especially with AD's name having stayed on the posters during it.Hybrid, Desplat left Rogue One just for his own idea? I know he left that movie beacuse schedule conflict for the reshoots.
But for Black Widow seems that the replacement was since months ago with Lorne writing and recording the score at the same timeht tp:// filmmusicreporter. com/2020/04/01/ track-list-for-disneys-live-action-mulan -soundtrack-album-revealed/

Why release a tracklist for an album that won't be released for another 6 months at least. That's just a punch in the gut, in my opinionSo it won't be a last minute and hasty job?
No idea but he was on it for a bit, I think.Hybrid, do you know how long Lorne had to score?Score is recorded already.Yup, which makes me wonder if they had to wait before announcing it, considering Desplat was still being listed in posters prior to the delay.I think Lorne teased this some time ago by sending a picture of researching Russian music on insta (maybe)

I can't believe that Alexandre Desplat, who is a good composer left the film just like I remember Rogue One. Well, Now i Hope that Lorne Balfe makes a great score just like he does always.Comes out on April 3rd. Keep hearing that the music is very Lion King style.How can i download it?

And if anyone knows where to find this CD, mail me at <--.in>-- okay? I just want it like a million dollars!

well, even if disney has nothing to do with a bootleg, they should have released a complete score along with the special edition soundtrack in 2003 (like they did with Disney's Dinosaur). I have the Disney's dinosaur complete score, and it is GREAT, all the tracks are stereo and of the same quality of the original soundtrack. I wish they did this with the Lion king expanded score too, the score of the Lion King is even better than that of Dinosaur (in my opinion)....anyway, see ya!

I think this album is ok, it's the best of the "--complete"-- Lion King albums so far, the SFX versions are no match of course. Sure, it's got a lot of mono tracks, but they're very listenable i think, plus the tracks that are stereo are incredible, like track 19. Not a perfect complete release (like with the Armageddon or The Peacemaker completes for example), but still the best choice for people who want more of the Lion King score than the OST can offer.

Well, I managed to find a copy of the SFX version of the score - not as good as this one, but it's a start! Most songs have very minor SFX, anyway, except for the extended Pride Rock track, which is loaded with hyenas, flames, and thunder noises. It would be great to find this one, but for now, the SFX version will have to do. The song that plays when Simba fights scar is really great.

this (like many others) are a bootleg, and Disney haven't got anything to do with this socalled 'release' at all....... (a bootleg is not a official score.....it's not the record companies who 'makes' / releases this stuff...... they come from die hard fans, who would do everything to get a hold of their favorite score....from 'lost' copies of the original material......, sometimes a composer ''give'' a copy to a good friend, he give it to another friend (who knows) etc..... in most cases the bootlegs don't have any special good quality, but sometimes they do......
but anyway.....the record companies, even the composer himself (in some/most cases), don't have anything to do with this bootleg versions......so its no point in saying 'it's unfair etc....blabla....of the '(rec. comp./composer).....' , to ''release'' ''such a great score...but 'impossible' to get a hold of etc......

it is REALLY unfair to trouble fans like this by displaying the track list of a wonderful CD like this grandly, and releasing it God knows where :( very unfair of Disney X-(

Anonymous reply Replies: 0 || 2005-06-17 00:00:00
Why are only some tracks in mono, and not others? How does this score exist, anyway? If it was not released, how is there any way to get it?

sum1 reply Replies: 0 || 2005-06-10 00:00:00
where on the earth did you guys get that CD?!?! Plz email me at ... if you have any info on this cd or you can sand me any extracts...im achin' for that cd!!!

The following tracks are in mono :
2. Life Isn't Fair, Is It ?
9. ...To Die For
10. What Have You Done / Run Away
11. "--Alternate 1"-- (Mufasa's Death / Simba's Escape)
12. A New Hera / Bowling for Buzzards
13. Simba Awakens
14. Under the Stars / Simba Alive
15. Hunting / Pinned Again / Reunion

That means the sound quality is a little lower on those tracks. Nevertheless, the stereo tracks are really good, almost as good as the original soundtrack.
Track 19 is so excellent. Thanks Hans Zimmer !

The sound is not mono on all the tracks. Moreover this version is a bootleg one and I really don't think an expanded version like this one will be released one day ---(

They already have released a new one recently with the DVD version of the film and it would be hard to ask for a third one.

Ryan reply Replies: 0 || 2005-05-24 00:00:00
Not sure why this was deleted, but the sound is in mono. As in AM quality radio.

Ryan

Boggan reply Replies: 0 || 2005-05-24 00:00:00
It's in mono, by the way.

Justin boggan reply Replies: 0 || 2005-05-24 00:00:00
I use a 5 star rating system for sound quality - but things like muffles and mono and volume fluctuations others, don't count as part of the sound qaulity. I list those seperately.

5 being store bought sound, I'd say Lion King lies inbetween **** and ****.5

Jeezzz... i would sell one of nut to get a copy! How is the sound quality really?? Oh welll.. lets hope they will release it on CD like The Ring soundtrack recently! Hey Webmaster Nicolas, how about "--asking"-- Decca Records to release this score? Maybe they would be intrested?

Guys, we misunderstood !
I don't own this version, just heard tracks from it, and it's really beautiful. I can't help you about how to get it ! Sorry...

Nicolas, Webmaster reply Replies: 0 || 2005-05-21 00:00:00
Héhé,

As many, we own a lot of this boot, but we're a lot in HZ Team, and everyone has his own collection. I just found Maybach on ebay, and i'm the one in the team to have an exemplar. We're not a group of friend who share all we find regarding film music. We're living far from eachothers, and the goal of this website is to give a global vision of what does exist and what we can find. As a film music fan, i think you're ok with me to tell that's interesting ! ---)

But don't think everybody in our website own every CD you can see on our website. It's a big mistake. Relations wouldn't be the same between us if we were asking for a music to the other one all the day. I've all the official release, a lot of promotional one and many others, but i would be the happyest man if had all we presented to you in this website.

To finish, i will tell you, i will try, like you, to have this release. Let's wish us good luck !

I know it's strange, but it is possible to get it? I love H.Z. music and I have almost all albums. Whatmore, TLK is really special for me. Is there a chance, that Hans Zimmer would sell it on, for example, iTunes? =)

Basil Lion reply Replies: 0 || 2005-05-20 00:00:00
I want this CD but it nowhere to be found :(

Nicolas, Webmaster reply Replies: 0 || 2005-05-20 00:00:00
I'm sorry to tell that because i know it's hard to love a music and can't buy it... But this edition is really beautiful, with lot of theme reprise and new &-- powerful orchestrations. Disney sacrificed Hans' Score in its official edition, that's sure ! Let's hope the expanded score will come into the world in the future, because there's enough material for that, and it really would have to be done.
I heard Hans composed around 60 themes on a audio tape before finding THE theme for the Lion King, it would be fantastic to have a release wich would include that. Like Music "--Behind The Magic"-- for Alan MENKEN by exemple...

Tromboja reply Replies: 0 || 2005-05-20 00:00:00
So where can I get this? You know how many people including non-score fans would love to hear this?
