This mean the recording sessions?First Jedi Fallen Order, now Solo? I love this news! And I get the distinct feeling both releases are being used to determine interest in further Star Wars expanded score releases further down the line! Only real bummer is no CD to go on the shelf, but I'll take this any way it comes!He's just posted in his Instagram story that in 9 days he has more interesting stuff coming.<br><br>Very curiousFantastic! Looking forward to that variation on Duel of the Fates! Now the only complete Powell collection I'm looking for is HTTYD 3.It's coming in November!!! This is so cool!!
Not referring you, superEXPANDED RELEASE SON!!!!!!!!!! LET'S GO!You mean that's GREAT news !Now thatís good news!I hear Harry Potter in tracks like "Playful Secrets" and "Labyrinths & Humps". <br><br>Yes i realize Elfman has had similar sounds to those tracks too, but i think Steve is at the very least trying to homage Harry Potter in a few sections. <br><br>And personally I think the main theme is the most Pirates-like, but that's why i said there's still Zimmer influence, (yes i know a few tracks sound like King Arthur too), but it's not overwhelming for the most part.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (The Deluxe Edition)<br><br>Coming soon to digital exclusive streaming: over 2 hours of original/unedited music from Solo: A Star Wars Story [as written for the film]<br><br>All cues + the original unedited version of the end credits suite!I never made the statement that only orchestral scores are good. I like the TF movies, Halo soundtracks, a lot of Hans Zimmer works including Interstellar. <br><br>However, i have little appreciation or interest in scores with little to no melody besides basic progressions. I need a heart to my score, not just music that works for the movie.Agree, solid work, but dosen't sound like John Williams, more like Danny Elfman.<br><br>Also, the main theme sounds like Pirates of the Caribbeanwhat an incredible album! it is getting very close to my personal favorite which is dunkirk. there is so much mastery in both. one thing that dunkirk has that this album doesn't have is a sense of repetition. both albums have some kind of non-finality. with dunkirk, i feel transported back to the beginning. with this one, i am not sure what comes next.<br><br>Hans and team probably have their share of anecdotes but here's another one.<br><br>i was playing this one day and my friend's daughter asked me if this was from... she hesitated and asked: the dark phoenix movie? i was astonished. she is 12 and probably not into movie scores. but she was able to pinpoint the right movie from a random part. that's something many aspire to. especially with the millions of super heroes movies out there!<br><br>i told her how impressed i was and went on unleashing my Hans Zimmer collection onto her haha :)Because i don't support the idea of 'only good scores are full orchestral', don't agree with that statement.<br><br>Yes, i love Your Highness and Steamboy, aslo really like stuff like TF (except the four) and TMNT 2. But also something like Pain & Gain, Bloodshot, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Deepwater Horizon, even i consider (unpopular opinion) guilty pleasure Battleship.<br><br>Yes, i'm weird :p<br>
I love revisiting this score. It's just so much fun, and I love hearing this side of Steve's music. I remember watching interviews where he'd talk about programming John Williams' string patterns into midi instruments, and his love for Williams' work overall. This side of him is rarely shown in his projects. <br><br>But then you have scores like this that show off how much of a wizard he can be with music. Melodic action music, fun and creative use of synth, classic Jablonsky choir chants, and beautiful use of the orchestra. Perfect for a fantasy comedy with a modern twist. <br><br>I cannot stress enough how much I love tracks like "Isabel the Strong", "Labyrinths And Humps", and "Mean Knights and Horsies O' My!". "Playful Secrets" in particular shows just how much of an expert Steve is with an orchestra. It sounds straight out of a John Williams score like Harry Potter or Indiana Jones with a fun Danny Elfman choir on top. Not to mention the beautifully performed bassoon and French Horn combo at 0:39 and 0:44! <br><br>These are the kinds of projects I like to see from Jablonsky. Films and games that allow him to show off his skills and test his abilities to the point where he creates complex, unique, varied, thematically rich, and truly poignant music. <br><br>This is something that I can point to and say "that's 100% a Steve Jablonsky score". It has some influence from Zimmer, but is not copying him by any means. Maybe with the slight exception of "Thadeous".Can't really agree that much with Bloodshot. The reason I was able to be engaged in Jablonsky's past scores similar to this (e.g. TF5, TMNT 2) was his strong melodic voice. Even in the more sound design parts of those scores there was at least several themes that I enjoyed, easily identified, and analyzed some lovely development for them. <br><br>Bloodshot doesn't really have that, it's got themes so minimal (except for KT which I can't really enjoy because the melody sounds identical to "Optimus"), that whatever development is there, I feel nothing toward because it's easy and boring to develop a theme that's basically just a series of chords. <br><br>Keanu I can't entirely judge Jablonsky for as it was also Nathan Whitehead's score, but it just sounds like Bloodshot 0.5 to me. Guitar chords, sound design, string ostinatos, wandering piano theme, been there done that. <br><br>Good lord, do I hope Steve works on Orbital Era though. It would be so refreshing to hear a full-on orchestral Jablonsky score again.Not only better than Spenser, it's better than Skyscraper.<br><br>Ok, Bloodshot maybe isn't one of the best works by Jablonsky, but after such disappointing with Skyscraper, see Jab in a work with choir, guitars, cool themes (if don't catch the similarities between KT's theme with the Autobots theme ;D) and good action writing (hang in there, i'm not going say is something good as Steamboy or Your Highness, even some of the Transformers/The Island stuff), as for the sound design, i prefer people like Jab, Zimmer or Holkenborg MORE than something dreadful as Reznor/RossJust listen Bloodshot OST again and I like it better than for the first time. Yes there is a lot of sounddesign elements, but quiet and melodic moments are good at some parts. My favorite track is "Bloodshot". For me this work, despite all the problems, is far better than Spencer Confidential.<br><br>There is extremely need of new Sci-Fi (not like Bloodshot, lol) or Fantasy project for Steve to work on. I'm fairly certain that he could provide amazing music for this genres, but for some reason.<br>Also, I've listened a few tracks from his "Keanu" score (posted on his new website) and it's wonderful, hope there will be a full release sometime. This one reminds me of another genre where Steve is good - comedy and parody movies - "Your Highness", "Pain and Gain", "Sims 3" (yes, it's a game score but it has that comedy atmosphere I'm talking about) all are really great scores for its genre.<br><br>For me "Eternals" from Marvel could be a good movie for Steve to work. And honestly, I would like to see what he could brings to "Godzilla vs Kong" crossover more than Junkie XL.<br><br>At least I hope that Katsuhiro Otomo would like to work with Steve again on his new anime project "Orbital Era", truly a dream-project.Yes, the sound mixing in the movie is bad, you can't listen the music properly, is buried under a lot of sound effects.<br><br>It was one of those situations where 'the music is trying to overlook the thunderous sound effects',

Miles reply Replies: 0 || 2009-10-20 00:00:00
Perhaps they wouldn't feel obliged to be hostile if you didn't antagonize them by calling them "inane" and acting as if you were above reproach...just trying to offer an alternative opinion.

I just hope they introduce lossless download purchases till then (if Disney ever plans to do it, praying for it), because from what I know currently Disney execs have decided to push off all score-only releases into digital download-only category. Yeah, it may be fine for quite some people who will say this is better than nothing (true to an extent), but personally I do not want to own my most favourite and beloved score of all time in the form of shitty VBR MP3s. I'm ready to wait more but I pray if they finally do release it then it's in the best possible quality and really complete (no more missing score). Or at least fingers crossed Disney eventually lets another label do a limited number of CDs at least.

Currently I guess we wait for the petition to get about 3000 signatures. Long wait, I know, and no guarantees of working - but for what it's worth, it's worth trying.

Well, it's probably not exactly like that...

Skyler reply Replies: 0 || 2009-10-17 00:00:00
Knowing Disney, they'd probably want to release it at a time when there would be a particularly high demand for it. Every time there's a 10th anniversary, 20th anniversary, or later they seem to take advantage of it and rerelease the dvd for a limited time before it goes back into the "disney vault." I was hoping that they'd release the score in conjunction with the last dvd edition of The Lion King, but for some reason they chose not to. We may have to wait until 2014...

I came up with a short story about a guy who was planning on breaking into the disney vault just to steal Hans Zimmer's complete recording sessions for the Lion King. His plan failed when he realized to his dismay that the vault was no more than a metaphor used to inflict a feeling of urgency upon the American population, so that people would rush out to give disney more money for a dvd that they already own.

Miles reply Replies: 0 || 2009-10-17 00:00:00
I just checked--the petition has around 1527 signatures, but that's probably not enough to get it sent off yet. No release date yet; we'll just have to wait, I guess.

this is mgbube for adrian you are very welcome my friend it seems some people here do actually have manners it is delightful talking to you please let me clarify some more the keyboard i use does not have these keys you mentioned i am going to obtain a new one once i have got the money in the meantime i shall try to be as unambiguous as possible thanks for pointing out that sentences can be misunderstood i was not aware of that thanks mgbube

Adrian reply Replies: 0 || 2009-10-09 00:00:00
@ mgbube, thanks for your answers! quite clarifying.
What I mean by interpunction, I meant punctuation. I presumed it would be the same in my language with a little difference... sorry about that! But punctuation is use of comma's, dots, question marks etc...
Without those, a sentence can be understood wrong or completely be misunderstood.
The thing I always was surprised about is when I read your sentences and put it punctuation myself, your sentences were almost always correct. That was my biggest question actually, why not using punctuation but make (almost always) correct English sentences?

Ravi Krishna reply Replies: 0 || 2009-10-06 00:00:00
You watch YOUR mouth first, dude. I can tell you that it does exist. Obviously - the bootleg on this page is an incomplete and improperly ripped version of the recording sessions.

this is mgbube for rabi krishna you watch your mouth first my dear friend have you made it your talent to step on other peoples toes by use of rude verbiage as spews from your mouth well pal you did as was told to do so know it all can you give us some more information on this bootleg as you like to call it then do tell am all ear let us all see what your words are worth please note am trying to be friendly you should attempt the same my friend thanks mgbube

Ravi Krishna reply Replies: 0 || 2009-10-06 00:00:00
Fine. FYI, my original post was in reply to Ele's question about whether this bootleg is the best existing "unofficial" complete version out there, so I mentioned the recording sessions. I already explained why it's real. I don't have it yet so I don't know where it is to be found (this board is not for that purpose anyway), but it exists for sure or we wouldn't have this bootleg in the first place. I too am hoping it surfaces sometime soon in the best quality.

And I'm not "stepping on your toes" or "spewing" anything here, so call that off.

mgbube reply Replies: 0 || 2009-10-06 00:00:00
this is mgbube for adrian you have a right to have your numerous questions answered as inane as they may be my name is mgbube i am from africa as i have made clear before i am not sceptical it is you who is asking questions by the dozen what is interpunction now if you look at your keyboard my friend you will notice that b is right next to v so it was simple mistake why do you take offense you seem pedantic and call me aggressive i am not a south park fan pal are you a monk fan adrian and am ending with thanks because unlike some people here i was taught common courtesy now let us put this pointless debate to an end because am fed up with it thanks mgbube

Adrian reply Replies: 0 || 2009-10-06 00:00:00
I always had the rule not to mingle myself in a fight here ... Well, now I'm breaking this rule.
Who is mgbube? Why are you so sceptical? Why don't you use any interpunction? Why do you spell RaBi krishna? And why do you attack so aggressively? Why do you speak of ''my friend'', are you a South Park fan, guy? Why do you always end with 'thanks'?

Skyler reply Replies: 0 || 2009-10-01 00:00:00
It's the best version out of all the ones listed here, but that doesn't mean it is satisfying. The music itself is magnificent (especially the segments that were not on the commercial release), but the sound quality, for the most part, is CRAP. It really detracts from the listening experience. Almost all the tracks have also been "slowed down" to make the CD look like it has more music, and they are about 10-15% slower than the original recording.

Ravi Krishna reply Replies: 0 || 2009-10-01 00:00:00
Allegedly there's a real recording sessions version, running around 2 hrs and having a lot of alternates and all the film's score in true stereo and real lossless, but as you can see it hasn't surfaced yet. Fingers crossed that that day isn't too far off, though.
