Olive, if you think Brothers In Arms is nothing more than a RCP power anthem, then you're obviously missing something... To me it's one of the most brilliant action tracks of the last few years.Ola team ! <br>Maybe you do know Joe Kramer won't return to score Mission Impossible 6. And no one seems to know who will.<br>So here's my question : any chance to see someone from RC doing this ? <br><br>Thanks for reading me. Keep goin' your good job here, it's appreciated. :)<br>Wow. Pretty solid! It keeps the core track intact and, somehow, adds even more raw power into it. Thanks for sharing!@MrZimmerFan<br><br><Is better because there is variety and orchestration><br><br>It is not because a score is orchestrated that it is automatically superior to one half orchestrated and half electronic. My problem with JL is that it's a small score for a composer with as many facets as Elfman. The music is uninspired and (taking one or another track) ends as it begins, nothing catches yours ears beyond of the romantic moments and of the new interpretations of the themes for the heroes.<br><br>@mpolonest<br><br><I actually love that score, but I think the main issue is Elfman completely ignoring what came before and trying to force the classic themes.><br><br>Elfman had two paths: Ignore everything and do things his way or respect what Zimmer did and maintain the sound of previous films. What did he do? He made an uninspiring hybrid of both.<br><br>@HybridSoldier<br><br><Leagues above, and yet I doubt Ben will be able to write something like "Brothers In Arms" from Mad Max.><br><br>Everyone in RCP knows how to do a power anthem these days.<br><br>@Mephariel<br><br><I would not have gotten a chance to work on blockbuster films like Dunkirk, Blade Runner 2049 without Zimmer's influence.><br><br>Obviously not. It could be in smaller jobs and present some potential for years to come.<br>I think I just sharted myself. Thanks!
I'm surprised to have not seen more discussion of this score; I honestly think it represents some of the best music out of RCP in the past half-decade. Yeah, it still has the Journey to the Line / Time four-chord power anthem thing going on, but outside of those themes you have some really creative material that at times doesn't even feel stylistically RCP, and hell, even those structurally-simplistic themes are unusually well-orchestrated. And there's a real orchestra!Some of you may like this guy's cover of Brothers in Arms! Pretty epic, honestly. <br><br> com/watch?v=LCIY41hopq4This score has improved my mood on more than one occasion. Nancy Meyers needs to make another movie, so Hans can score it. lol.Hello great team of Hans Zimmer,<br><br>I was recently listening to "The Might of Rome" (Gladiator soundtrack) and I am craving to listen the long version of the piece around 2:38 - 2:48 (something like an oriental flute). Does it exist as a standalone composition? Is it inspired from some third party artist, if yes, can you please tell my which one?<br><br>Thanks!@Olive<br><br>Wallfisch's career unquestionably benefited from his involvement with Zimmer. He wouldn't have gotten a chance to work on blockbuster films like Dunkirk, Blade Runner 2049 without Zimmer's influence. Wallfisch is a very talented composer, but let's be honest here, his music doesn't immediately strikes anyone as a big action guy. Having Zimmer's name pushing you helps.
Hybrid, what do you admire more: Black Hawk Down or Tears of the Sun?"Elfman's score is like Whedon, horrendous & out of place."<br><br>Out of place, yes. Horrendous, no.Leagues above, and yet I doubt Ben will ever be able to write something like "Brothers In Arms" from Mad Max.<br><br>Comparing people is kinda useless...<br><br>The only who's right is Hans in the end, he knows when to use one and when to use the other... ;)@Edmund<br>Iím in the same boat. When I watch a movie I normally donít pay attention to the music unless itís really distinctive. As a stand alone listening experience I usually want to get music that fits a mood and can hold my interest throughout. Take Silvestriís Avengers score for example. The big statements of the main theme and some of the action cues are excellent. Unfortunately itís surrounded by generic underscore that slows the album down imo. But then you have TASM2, which constantly has something going on no matter what. I feel like thatís something which does relate to the directors, not so much the talent level of the composers.<br><br>@olive<br>Ben Wallfisch is LEAGUES ahead of JXL as a composer, partly because heís had years of experience in film composing. Hopefully his recent successes give him more high profile projects.<br><br>As for Justice League, I actually love that score, but I think the main issue is Elfman completely ignoring what came before and trying to force in the classic themes. Had he done his own spin on Zimmerís material there would a better connection to the previous ones.Elfman's score is like Whedon, horrendous & out of place.
@Olive: Is better because there is variety and orchestration, and i'm not a purist (i liked BvS, there is more complexity in it than in MoS), but Danny Elfman has more integrity in that score than in that two scores.He did!<br><br>The action material in "Do You Bleed?" is by XL! <br>Wallfisch has shown himself to be a superior composer to XL, let's face it. I do not even see why he's running after Zimmer since he's able to run a career himself.<br><br>@TheZimmerFan <br><br><But the score by Elfman is miles better than MoS and BvS (for those two, BvS is much interesting and better than MoS, which is only good)><br><br><br>The music is less simplistic and may please the purists, but, no, MoS and BvS are better by a small margin than JL by one factor: thematic material and characterization of the movie. Elfman should have had more freedom to work on the themes he and Williams wrote.<br>It's a half-truth to everyone who makes up the RCP team, unfortunately. <br><br>But I honestly doubt that ANYONE wants to work with XL.<br><br>Snyder worked with him 3 times. 300, BvS and Man of Steel. Sometimes I even get the impression that he's always liked Tom's approach more than Zimmer's approach. See all the percussion and synths of all those scores that are far more present in the Xl field than Zimmer's.Got this today..well not my music type so pass it...

Hans Zimmer (who replaced Alf Clausen) is currently scoring the Simpsons Halloween Special

Hybrid Soldier2017-09-30 09:51:34
Mmmmmh nope it's Bleeding Fingers, Hans is producer at best...

replaced2017-10-01 15:18:59
It's disappointing to see Alf Clausen replaced by a stock music library. Were they really that cheap?

replaced2017-10-01 15:22:32
No offence meant to any of the unnamed composers but when you've dedicated your career to a show and you see you've been replaced by samples and a cue arranged by "Bleeding Fingers" it must be hard to take.

Mike2017-10-02 05:18:51
I have to agree . I hope this is not the case . I can't believe Hans would have anything to do with this ? To save money they fired an amazing composer and then got a company ?

replaced2017-10-02 16:41:36
More info here:
http :// fingers-music-taking-over-scoring-duties-on-the-simpsons/

"The music production house Bleeding Fingers Music has taken over scoring duties on the Fox animated series The Simpsons. Hans Zimmer and Russell Emanuel serve as score producers and Steven Kofsky is credited as the score executive producer."

I dunno, but I do know that Henry Jackman lead the cue with the lynch mob.

Indeed, the credits here would be interesting...

This score hardly sounds like Zimmer at all

Per reply Replies: 0 || 2010-08-26 00:00:00
Well, 'Giddyup Suite', isn't that the music in track 10 on the soundtrack !(?), so that's not really unreleased .... or is it different (?) ;) (...except for the minor fade with the previous track on the soundtrack, that is)
But perhaps you didn't mean that cue specifically being unreleased... (?)

Ravi reply Replies: 0 || 2010-08-26 00:00:00
I think this is one of HZ's more underrated scores, and has some very good unreleased tracks which shows in the complete version. "Giddyup Suite" especially features some very good orchestral writing.

My only gripe is that people here think that Zimmer actually reads this. This isn't even his website, this is a fansite, fools. Get that into your head.

Anyway Zimmer is pretty cool for his music and others at Remote Control too.

hans you are the man. this soundtrack is awesome.

1. The Simpsons theme - you have done much to this theme. you gave it alot more life. i loved your vesion of elfman's original theme

2. Trapped like Carrots - awesome. it has a very wind ensemble sound to it. I love this track one of my favorite tracks by you for all time. it is very jazzy. i lke how you play with the melody switching it between the trumpets, clarinets, flutes and then that huge low brass feature, wow!!!

3. Doomsday is Familytime - wow! this is one of the most gorgeous melodies i have ever heard. it is so beautiful. Everyone was afriad that you would have trumpets blasting and this song alone proves your genius.

4. Release the Hounds - Nice touch with the Latin rock feel. shows that you can really write all types of music. veru adventurous!

5. Clap for Alaska - then you come out with the Cathedral Chorale about The Simpsons going to Alaska. and you brought that beautiful melody from track 3 and took it a step further. i loved this track.

6. Whats an epiphany - excellent writing. you feel like your in the dream having the epiphany Homer is having even without watching the movie. This was very well written.

7. Thank you boob lady - then you come out with the military march where homer goes back to save his family. You managed to take the Simpsons theme and turn it into the war melody! Very nice work. you are a genius.

8. You doomed us all again - that beautiful melody comes back and you add even more to it, making all the more gorgeous. Then the march comes in and i see the power in what you are trying to portray here, which is the cities love for their town and Homer's for his family.

9. Lead not read - very adventurous piece. it reminds me alot of the power presented by Silvestri in back to the future, but even better. i loved this track/

10. why does everything i whip leave me - victory chorale. this track is very well put together. its alot like an olympic fanfare. i love it Hans

11. Bart's doodle - very cool piece. you can just imagine them living in a fairy tale land. and it reminds me alot of the music scores to the classic musicals. very creative writing.

12. world's fattest fertilizer salesman - very cool piece. very adventurou and tension building. it makes you want more and more as it goes along.

13. His big Fatt Butt cold sheild us all - Now you took the Simpsons theme and made it into a love theme. very cool Hans. you are definitely a mad genius. All of build in this one. it left me wanting more.

14. Spider-Pig - very dark and creative. Hans Your are a genius.

basically im telling you every track on this cd is awesome. i loved every moment of this soundtrack. i cant wait for more of your scores to come out. hans your the best composer ever!!!

Danny Elfman or Alan Silvestri would have been my first choice; their often lighthearted yet triumphant styles would suit this movie more than...say...a dozen trumpets blasting with marcato strings chopping their way through the background. But maybe Zimmer will "pull a Homer" with this one. Just don't go stealing from Holst again.

Pridelander reply Replies: 0 || 2007-08-01 00:00:00
Here's an interview with James L. Brooks himself... maybe this will be an answer to the fans' curiosity (or, anger :p)...
"Alf has a full time job on the series. Hans and I have worked on a lot of movies together. Alf has a full time job and Hans is somebody I think came through for us brilliantly. I know he spoke to Danny [Elfman] and paid all respects there."

Anyway it seems they enjoyed a lot...

"Matt Groening: Everything in the movie is bigger. (...) The music, for the first time, you can actually be bombarded by. It's big and loud and very ambitious. Hans Zimmer did a fantastic job with the score. He's like the fifth Simpson. (laughter)

CS: How closely did you work with Hans Zimmer on that score?

Brooks: Intimately, and some of the key things that happened to our movie happened late at the sound mix. There's very little later than the sound mix. When Hans had done these little goofs privately and he played them for us at the very end of the road, we just started putting it in the body of the movie.

Jean: He's got a terrific sense of humor.

Brooks: Well, he's German. (laughter)"
