@Armageddon<br><br>1. i love the movie. 2. rockhound is the most annoying character in the whole movie, but at least he has a cool name. ;) 3. bruce willis is smiling in almost all his emotional scenes and not just in this movie. but you know, in germany the movies are dubbed, so his "german" voice and the music helped alot to make these scenes nontheless convincing. to be honest, the goodbye scene was even more sad than the dying scene of leonardo dicaprio in Titanic. so you see, what impact the music had.<br><br>@Edmund<br><br>i didnt say the movie is bad, just bruce willis in a couple of scenes. so....the music had alot more to do than in Pirates III. the impact of the music in Armageddon must be way stronger to make these scenes work than in Pirates III. in Pirates III these scenes would have been also convincing without the music, because the acting was strong enough. but nontheless the music in Pirates III adds alot to the scenes and makes them stronger. just my opinion.Where did you get this information and samples?Where can I listen to those samples? I would love to hear some bits of the score before watching the movie.The score has 25 tracks and is about 1 hour and 16 minutes long. Samples sound awesome. Great action score with new theme's and variations of the old ones. Looking forward to hearing it in full.Total video game score, circa 98. This is one of those scores -<br> my first - that you just didn't get enough of no matter HOW many cds they released of it. Hell, it wasn't until 2000 when I finally got the complete score on 2 cds. Sadly, by that time I burned out on it...
So rockhound...your argument is that the score is better because the movie is worse? That's a new one, gotta admit... :D<br><br>to Armageddon, do it! The complete score, if you can. It's incredible!To Edmund Meinerts,<br><br>I admit I never really got the chance to listen to the entire At World's End score. But now you sir got me interested and I will check it out.<br><br>Cheers.To rockhound, <br><br>With all due respect, sir, that's a stupid statement. Very stupid. Guess you're mad that Rockhound wasn't the main character. How is Willis acting in those scenes bad? He's not overacting, he's not crying-screaming like a little girl. His character is actually very grounded. In the scene with Liv Tyler at the end, he is actually watching a picture of his real daughter. It makes it all the more real. He's very quiet and the performance is realistic. Nothing over-the-top. And people absolutely love that scene. Go to YouTube and read all the comments under the video. So, having said all of that, what exactly is your problem with it? You want him to go all crazy emotional like Nic Cage in Face/Off? Is that it?King Arthur is the perfect example. A terrible script but a great scoreAfter I saw the movie....very great movie & very great scores, better than the first scores!! And the theme for Poppy is also very good!!
Well there's also the track where Izzy's transformers dies, a few action tracks not included that I'd be interested to hear, but you're right, the track I'm most interested in is We Have To Go's film version. The extra strings in the small excerpt where Megatron's arm gets cut off, and the ones added to the main theme really give the song a more heroic and intense tone.Yep. These tracks are amazingOnly tracks that come to mind that aren't in the OST are a variation of Seglass when introducing Edmund, and the film version of We Have To Go.<br><br>Hell, the OST has more music than the movie.Daniel Pemberton seems like a twat.I own the CD and I agree there are times in the score where it's so bombastic it distorts your speakers.<br><br>Still, I felt this was a great score from Zimmer. It was peak Russian sounding chorus time for Hans and the action cues were better than other scores of this time like The Rock.
i think Armageddon is better in covering of all emotions than Pirates III, because there is one more thing the music has to do in Armageddon....covering bad acting. without the music, all emotional scenes with bruce willis would have been a joke. he acts really bad in these scenes, but the music works wonders.Lol. Anyone can write up a bunch of random slate numbers. Nice try.Armageddon is great fun, but I can think of plenty other scores that cover that spectrum of emotions. At World's End certainly does, and then some.Someone who know the LINK of the complete Soundtrack can Post it here? Thank U<br><br>Ps. Can't wait to hear it!!mmmh not for me, even The Peacemaker or Deep Blue Sea (both ****) are superior than this one! (I’ll give it a *** 1/2).

I dunno, but I do know that Henry Jackman lead the cue with the lynch mob.

Wow, 6 additional composers! I just bought it, could you please get the credits for each track, hybrid? I know I'm annoying, right? ;)

Indeed, the credits here would be interesting...

One of the few Zimmer scores that I don't have. :)

Want to get it though.

This score hardly sounds like Zimmer at all

Per reply Replies: 0 || 2010-08-26 00:00:00
Well, 'Giddyup Suite', isn't that the music in track 10 on the soundtrack !(?), so that's not really unreleased .... or is it different (?) ;) (...except for the minor fade with the previous track on the soundtrack, that is)
But perhaps you didn't mean that cue specifically being unreleased... (?)

Ravi reply Replies: 0 || 2010-08-26 00:00:00
I think this is one of HZ's more underrated scores, and has some very good unreleased tracks which shows in the complete version. "Giddyup Suite" especially features some very good orchestral writing.

Anyway..I'm gonna buy this from FYE cuz its been on the shelf for like forever and Zimmer's pretty cool.

My only gripe is that people here think that Zimmer actually reads this. This isn't even his website, this is a fansite, fools. Get that into your head.

Anyway Zimmer is pretty cool for his music and others at Remote Control too.

Thank You again. put the music in my heart again.

Mark reply Replies: 0 || 2007-11-13 00:00:00
hans you are the man. this soundtrack is awesome.

1. The Simpsons theme - you have done much to this theme. you gave it alot more life. i loved your vesion of elfman's original theme

2. Trapped like Carrots - awesome. it has a very wind ensemble sound to it. I love this track one of my favorite tracks by you for all time. it is very jazzy. i lke how you play with the melody switching it between the trumpets, clarinets, flutes and then that huge low brass feature, wow!!!

3. Doomsday is Familytime - wow! this is one of the most gorgeous melodies i have ever heard. it is so beautiful. Everyone was afriad that you would have trumpets blasting and this song alone proves your genius.

4. Release the Hounds - Nice touch with the Latin rock feel. shows that you can really write all types of music. veru adventurous!

5. Clap for Alaska - then you come out with the Cathedral Chorale about The Simpsons going to Alaska. and you brought that beautiful melody from track 3 and took it a step further. i loved this track.

6. Whats an epiphany - excellent writing. you feel like your in the dream having the epiphany Homer is having even without watching the movie. This was very well written.

7. Thank you boob lady - then you come out with the military march where homer goes back to save his family. You managed to take the Simpsons theme and turn it into the war melody! Very nice work. you are a genius.

8. You doomed us all again - that beautiful melody comes back and you add even more to it, making all the more gorgeous. Then the march comes in and i see the power in what you are trying to portray here, which is the cities love for their town and Homer's for his family.

9. Lead not read - very adventurous piece. it reminds me alot of the power presented by Silvestri in back to the future, but even better. i loved this track/

10. why does everything i whip leave me - victory chorale. this track is very well put together. its alot like an olympic fanfare. i love it Hans

11. Bart's doodle - very cool piece. you can just imagine them living in a fairy tale land. and it reminds me alot of the music scores to the classic musicals. very creative writing.

12. world's fattest fertilizer salesman - very cool piece. very adventurou and tension building. it makes you want more and more as it goes along.

13. His big Fatt Butt cold sheild us all - Now you took the Simpsons theme and made it into a love theme. very cool Hans. you are definitely a mad genius. All of build in this one. it left me wanting more.

14. Spider-Pig - very dark and creative. Hans Your are a genius.

basically im telling you every track on this cd is awesome. i loved every moment of this soundtrack. i cant wait for more of your scores to come out. hans your the best composer ever!!!

Danny Elfman or Alan Silvestri would have been my first choice; their often lighthearted yet triumphant styles would suit this movie more than...say...a dozen trumpets blasting with marcato strings chopping their way through the background. But maybe Zimmer will "pull a Homer" with this one. Just don't go stealing from Holst again.

Pridelander reply Replies: 0 || 2007-08-01 00:00:00
Here's an interview with James L. Brooks himself... maybe this will be an answer to the fans' curiosity (or, anger :p)...

http://www.canmag.com/nw/8456-simpsons-movie-james-l-brooks
"Alf has a full time job on the series. Hans and I have worked on a lot of movies together. Alf has a full time job and Hans is somebody I think came through for us brilliantly. I know he spoke to Danny [Elfman] and paid all respects there."

Anyway it seems they enjoyed a lot...
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=22484

"Matt Groening: Everything in the movie is bigger. (...) The music, for the first time, you can actually be bombarded by. It's big and loud and very ambitious. Hans Zimmer did a fantastic job with the score. He's like the fifth Simpson. (laughter)

CS: How closely did you work with Hans Zimmer on that score?

Brooks: Intimately, and some of the key things that happened to our movie happened late at the sound mix. There's very little later than the sound mix. When Hans had done these little goofs privately and he played them for us at the very end of the road, we just started putting it in the body of the movie.

Jean: He's got a terrific sense of humor.

Brooks: Well, he's German. (laughter)"

...goofs?
