Can't think of a more meaningless and laughable award than the Oscar.an oscar for this one? nahh...<br>maybe he gets a nomination for dune or bondMaybe WW1984May know how to downloaddamn it would be kinda awesome and hilarious if Lorne Balfe got Lorne Balfe’d LOL
Yeah 100% fake... And there was HJ rumor on Black Widow sometimes last year, so if you do the math...Henry doesn't have an official Instagram. It looks like you are referring to the account "henry0262020" which appears to be a fake account, to the best of my knowledge.Henry Jackman is now Black Widow's composer, apparently in his instagram, posted a photoHah! Knew it. FYI, I'm not smoking anything. I don't smoke, and I abhor anyone who does.Oh interesting. When I said "refined his sound," I didn't mean that he was still trying to find his voice. This score absolutely exudes the qualities that make his work so appealing. You simply managed to put what I was trying to say in better terms. I'm definitely happy to give this one more goes in the future, but I remain more partial to some of the other installments.
This is easily my favorite X-Men score, but I do agree there is a bit of an...*odd* feel to it sometimes. The impression I get is that Powell was reeeaallly pushing himself to write the most dense and complex and ambitious score he could, and I think he may have overreached a tad. There's definitely a big contrast between this score and the much tighter, more focused sound he was bringing in his action music from a couple years prior, like Paycheck or The Bourne Supremacy. I wouldn't say he "hadn't quite refined his sound yet" - this isn't Face/Off, his voice was pretty well established by this point - but he was trying to develop it a bit faster than it was naturally going to go.<br><br>At the same time, I love how this score goes for broke, and I hate to fault a composer for too much ambition. "Phoned in" is the LAST thing this score is. But Powell would iron out the kinks and by How to Train Your Dragon he was writing a score that was just as complex, but wore the complexity a bit more naturally than X3."There is nothing musically interesting in [Ottman's] X-Men scores except the main titles."<br><br>As if I didn't need a reminder that this place can house some ludicrous opinions sometimes (no offense intended there).<br><br>The Last Stand barely cracks the top 5 of X-Men scores for me, if only because I love the themes and it carries a lot of nostalgia for me. It's pretty clear imo that this score was at a point when Powell hadn't quite refined his sound yet. I wouldn't call it phoned in whatsoever, but it's easy to get lost at points when I'm listening to the full thing. But the highlights are too great for me to call it middling either, so it barely gets a solid grade in my book. <br><br>I'm likely in the minority when I say I actually prefer Dark Phoenix. It's much more solid as a whole product.I like the tracksWow!!!Still my favorite score from the X-Men series.
Not too stoked on Powell, but the way Ottman's able to squander a good theme makes him close to the bottom of the barrel in my book. There is nothing musically interesting in his X-Men scores except the main titles.I don't know what you're smoking but you need to get off it. In the way is this phoned in, the orchestration and everything about it is perfect. No score for X-men has come close to this one except maybe X2That recording footage makes it all the more baffling to me why the end product sounds the way it does.I understand the comments about the orchestra sounding like samples by some of the comments?<br><br>If you follow his Twitter you see the BBC orchestra recording the soundtrack.Season two is cool and Balfe’s music is bigger that season 1.Bit choirs also.I love Hillbilly also but it sounds very familiar just with different guitar instruments.Paradise is so emotional and sonically more interesting to me at least

@ Dakota

I'm with you. If they wanted to make a different version for the album release they could at least keep the movie version too. But i'm happy i got what i got. If we were so lucky with RoTF...

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2010-07-23 00:00:00
@ Westfall

Omg I know. ROTF is simply amazing, don't even get me started. If they were to put it up for sale, it would sell like hot cakes. They could make a ton of money. But, ohh well. If I know it will come, I can only wait and wait and wait. I pray that its going to come one day, and one day soon.

@SCore
It's the same as with the cues discussed earlier, they simply cut and removed a few layers from "Optimus" for that scene. Actually i find the version used in the film, both on that scene and during Optimus' speech about destroying the cube, much better. I do like "Optimus" as it is in the CD but without the flute-thing playing it sounds... better. And i believe that if you modify a track like they did with these, it becomes something else intirely and should be featured as such.

I know wich one u mean gaBBo but on that expanded score
the track where sam talks to bumblebee the first time (kind of an adapted version of ''Optimus'') is stil missing . or did i overlooked something?

gaBBo reply Replies: 0 || 2010-07-14 00:00:00
The cue where the soldiers are reported missing is featured on another expanded version of the score (I mean without sfx), along with a few other missing cues.
This one was quiet tricky to find !

SCore reply Replies: 0 || 2010-07-14 00:00:00
So anyone has any idea where you can get the 2-CD version of the score (i believe with 72 tracks) including the promos and unused cues. And i saw it posted before but on all of the three scores that are released officially or unofficially is not the music that is played in the movie when Sam speaks to Bumblebee for the first time after that giant death match between bumblebee and the police car decepticon. That just sounds so great and thats the one they leave out? Why?

westfall reply Replies: 0 || 2010-06-26 00:00:00
@Dakota

I'm with you, i wish there was an actual track. I hate it when they reuse cues like that. The same thing happens with cues like "Optimus Sword" wich are nice as is but you can't help but feel how great it would be if there was an expanded version that builds on that. I'm actually trying to do it. Unfortunatelly, with my limited resourses it's a bit tricky to do, not to mention it is an hybrid born from several scores. Many people complain when composers use the same theme in their score, i actually like to hear how the same theme sounds in its different versions, especially if i like the original. LOL.

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2010-06-26 00:00:00
Hmmm ok then. Damn I wish they could release that piece, I like it. Thanks for your knowledgeable answer, it's a good thing you're here

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2010-06-25 00:00:00
There's one other piece missing, I realized. It plays when Lennox's wife is watching the Secretary of Defense on TV saying they couldn't confirm any survivors of the Soccent Attack.

westfall reply Replies: 0 || 2010-06-25 00:00:00
@Dakota

As for the Bonecrusher cue, much like the music used in the "road reunion" scene is a cut and accelerated tempo version of "Skorponok", the music used in that scene is a cut and slightly accelerated version of "Optimus Sword".

As for the one used during the Sec Def's broadcast, i'm sure that beat (it's not much more than that) is part of some of these tracks but i'll keep it in the same place as the TF theme version used at the very end of Optimus Opening monologue as we're shown the Osprey's, capping the end of "Autobots. There's been a cue around that was named "Qatar" but that's not it and it is actually from another movie named "Letters from Bagdhad" in wich S Jablonsky worked.

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2010-06-22 00:00:00
Alex, Thank You very much for responding so quickly. I actually have this 72-track version which is down beolw. I gave them both a listen, and that's not it. Those pieces are when: (A) Brawl is attacking, (B) Sam telling Bumblebee "I'm not gonna leave you", and (C) ending as Ironhide Transforms in slow-motion. I guess no one has it then? If you can find it for me, you are truely amazing. Once again, Thank You.

The track is called

05. Devastator (0:52)

and has an alternate

27. Devastator (Alt.) (0:44)

on the 72 track complete promo score,down below.

Does anyone have the track when Optimus and Bonecrusher Transform on the freeway? It's not called "freeway fight", that's the part when they actually fall off the ramp and fight. It starts exactly after the military guy is decoding the morse code from the Secretary of Defense. Here's the clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pklbulbkHbA&feature=related it ends just about when Bonecrusher smashes into the first car. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me!!!!

Nor did i see it that way, but in case someone starts thinking i'm an authority of some kind in this stuff. i thought i'd make it clear i'm not. I'm just a fan who really loved this score and was happy enough to get the full thing. Really happy. :D

And with all that i forgot to say thank you. :)

michael reply Replies: 0 || 2009-11-12 00:00:00
I've also been able to obtain the new version with all the awesome unused music but does anybody know the source of this, is it basically the recording sessions? and is the scorponok cue that is played when they all join up actually a faster version or a different recording because it is mixed in with unreleased music from the previous scene that is not on any complete/expanded score release.

anthony reply Replies: 0 || 2009-11-12 00:00:00
is the Decepticons Mobilize cue on the new expanded version?, it only looks like the deceptions cue is present

westfall reply Replies: 0 || 2009-11-12 00:00:00
@michael

The music used in the meeting scene is "Scorponok", they just edited and increased the tempo to fit the scene. The music in the previous scene is an edited and remixed version of "The All Spark" with a few instruments removed.

@anthony
if you're refering to the music heard when the Decepticons report to Starscream and head for Hoover Dam, in the Full Score is track 13 from CD1, "Mainframe Tampering". The music used in the scene where Frenzy hacks the mainframe is track 21 from CD2, "Main Frame Tampering (Alt.)"

Good to have a Transformers score specialist here! ^_^

westfall reply Replies: 0 || 2009-11-12 00:00:00
As i was watching the scene to answer michael i noticed something that i just hadn't really noticed before. From the scene where Bumblebee folds the All Spark (track "Bumblebee") to where Glenn says the F22 are scrambling (where "F-22's to the City" starts) all the BGM is edited from other tracks. The only exception is "Optimus Sword" wich is, itself, used in remixed form just seconds before the actual track plays.

The full sequence, between those 2 tracks (over 6 minutes of film):
SOCCENT Attack (BB and Lennox's team leave Hoover Dam, Megatron escapes)
The All Spark (Keller, Simmons and the others go to the archives an try to contact the airforce)
Scorponok (Autobots rendez-vous with BB)
Cargo Shootout+When Feds Attack+SOCCENT Attack (Frenzy attacks the archives, Glenn transmits Kellers orders)
Optimus Sword (Remixed) Autobots on the freeway with Decepticons on pursuit
Optimus Sword (Optimus and battle- this is slighly edited and has more chorus than the available version, though that might just be from the 5.1 mix)
Scorponok (Frenzy invades the archives and fights the humans, eventually killing... himself - "Oh, s**t!")

westfall reply Replies: 0 || 2009-11-12 00:00:00
@Sylvos

Don't get me wrong. Everything i state here is based on many, many viewings of the film and many, many hours listening to the score. (I really have to get a life :P). I'm not a music specialist nor am i involved in the music world. My posts are not writen in stone, they're just my opinion. But based on 2 years of searching for anything related to this score, this last score has all the music i knew to exist+the promos and demos. When i say this is a FULL SCORE, it's based on only that. For all i know there might be a treasure trove of more music somewhere. Quite frankly, i even hope there's more... 'cause i just love this score so much. If i got this much from the RoTF score i woild be a very happy man... despite my sad lonely life. :)

Arrival to Earth 'Original Version' is totally awesome!! Jablonsky has finally win against Hans! :D

westfall reply Replies: 0 || 2009-11-09 00:00:00
And awesome they are. Thanks to a trully generous fellow member of a certain forum i usually visit, i finally got the full score, including the unused pieces. When i eard the full 8m17s of the full version of "Arrival to Earth" i admit i was on the verge of tears. The unreleased tracks include the afore mentioned "Arrival to Earth (Full Version)", "Sam's Theme (not Sam at the Lake, this is different and actually in the movie), "Tense Action" (the much sought after cue wich plays after "My Ladies" while Blackout lands, also used in the Main Menu of the Bonus DVD of the movie), "Battle" (The track refered previously as "Stonker"), the already available "Megatron Awakens (Unused)", etc.
The previously unavailable tracks (unused, alternate and demos) make up a total of 50m23s of new music out of a total running time of 2h37m03s, across 2 CDs and 72 tracks. As far as i can tell the only thing missing here, besides the kitchen sink, is the small cue eard right after "Autobots" and the movie title, otherwise known as "Qatar". Other than that (and no, the sped up version of Scorponok eard in the road meeting scene doesn't count).
This is truly a happy day for me and, if not for the fact that it would probably cause my post to be erased (if it's not already running that risk, by now) i would gladly post the link to the forums where i found this. But since that is not allowed, i'll leave it at that.

Also, on a different subject, for those who have followed my thread on the forum, i'll be making a major adjustment to my list of music of "Revenge of The Fallen" in the next few days.
