For those of you disappointed in this score...remember...This is Bad Boys 3 lol....Have you heard Bad Boys 1+2? Cmon now...relax and take it for what it isI'd be surprised if we don't see some Wallfisch scores this year. He has been so prolific lately, would be weird to suddenly go an entire year without a single assignment.CD coming from LLL!Really liked this score, and the movie wasn't as bad as people claim as well... Benjamin Wallfisch does some very nice stuff, his horror scores are always on point like It 1 & 2, Annabelle: Creation, A Cure for Wellness...

I know he's gonna deliver it with Mortal Kombat even if the movie isn't that good. But kind of a bummer that his next scheduled project comes out in 2021 LOL'Cause maybe the expected all the cues from the sessions
I like this music!The #balfeness !!!! Has outdone himself on Bad Boys for Life.
A nod to the last but brought it up to date.
This and 6 Underground has blown me away with Balfe’s musici can't understand, when someone is saying "it REMINDS of mw2" when those mentioned cues are completely re-used 1:1. it's identical, sometimes layered with mancinas themes. it doesn't just remind you of mw2 when lorne seriously uses the identical tracks or parts from mw2 -_-

@bayhem: then listen to it. i'm not a fan of lorne, but his work there is real fun and some real good action cues. with the themes of Zimmer, it's crazy that it's just a game. one of or maybe THE best work of lorne!Colleague of mine (a film score fan too) asked me which new Balfe score is better in my opinion - Bad Boys for Life or 6 Underground?

Honestly - and as much as I praised BB3 - I couldn't decide......

Both movies have a lot of songs, which is something I don't like. Look at Transformers. There are songs too but they don't overshadow the score. The score is still the star and that's why people flood Steve's Twitter with praise. Day after day.

But sadly for Lorne, his recent work in film WAS indeed overshadowed by the random songs. If they didn't rely on songs so much, I'm sure that 6 Underground would've been the crown jewel for Lorne. It's a big, big movie that begs for equally big and memorable score (though we can't really expect Transformners-syze score).

At the end of the day, Lorne did good on 6 Underground but it was just a small sign of what COULD have been.....Some of the action bits, yeah......
This right here is my single biggest issue with Balfe as a composer. And with the recording sessions clips he posts it is truly a mystery. Tinfoil hat on I'd say he skimps on the budget and hires those musicians just for a couple hours to shoot those clips for PR and the actual score is all synth but that's a baseless claim of course lol...
....................

It's bigger than that.....

After all, this is a Bruckheimer production. His movies established Hans and the entire MV/RC sound. His movies are known for their awesome scores. Scores that are populrar with the ordinary viewers as well. But 2008 onward, things changed.....Back in the 90's and early 2000's every single Bruckheimer film had a spectacular score. Powerful, melodic themes, cues that stayed with you, scores that attracted the attention of the average Joe.

Nowadays tho, we don't have that. Hell, when was the last time a (newer) action score from MV/RC-related composer was praised the way 'The Rock' was praised?

Lorne's Mission Impossible? No. Not even close.

Personally, I like what Lorne did with BB3, especially with the emotional cues. But put it next to Mancina's work. I mean it's not even a contest. The Mancina score is one memorable, melodic track after another. There's not a single boring track. Every track is a banger.

But the newer scores? They have two or three tracks that are good and everything else is.......utterly forgettable.

I blame it on the lack of themes. Orchestra or not, more scores need to have actual themes.Some cues sound like Speed 2Guess I'm the only person around here who hasn't listened to the Modern Warfare 2 score. So I can't really have an opinion on this matter..... lolThis right here is my single biggest issue with Balfe as a composer. And with the recording sessions clips he posts it is truly a mystery. Tinfoil hat on I'd say he skimps on the budget and hires those musicians just for a couple hours to shoot those clips for PR and the actual score is all synth but that's a baseless claim of course lol...Everyone keep mentionning mw2 but those drums reminded me of...skylanders giants lol! Just listen to the track « Arena battle » and let me know
The clips are on his Facebook page.2/5 stars? Why are people hating on this?Me tooExcited!!!God’s gun theme reminds me of part of “River Mission” from Battlefield 2: Modern Combat OST. I think Lorne was an additional composer on that score aswell (excellent OST btw)

You know the bit in Dead man Chest, the music when Jack sparrow shot the bombs at the end to blow up the kraken, is that bit of music here?

Steve Jablonksy also composed some music?! or what?! PIRATES???!!! Yeah, yeah, duh...obviously. I love Steve Jablonsky as well so I started when I read that. I really want the CD so much!!! Okay, I'm a bigbigbigbigbigbigbigbigbigbig crazy fan and a great admirer of Hans Zimmer and his beautiful work, and I'm also one huge, huge, huge pirate fan...so when I found out they were selling this...this LOVELY, BIG HANS ZIMMER/KLAUS BADELT CD...it's natural for me to want it like...more than anything. Ahhyah...it's so expensive (it should be, anyway) and I already have the third soundtrack...actually I borrowed my friend's soundtrack and ripped it into the latop, BUT I WANT THE ORIGINAL, WHOLE THING!!! I want everything that Hans Zimmer composed. But Pirates is a number 1...I hope I'm allowed to buy that CD. If I'm not...then...well, don't care, just buy it. I have my own money, anyway. And this CD is worth all of it. THIS CD IS WORTH A THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!!!

What are you people talking about, "it has the song when Will gets stabbed"... no it doesn't!!! It has the music afterwards when Jack and Elizabeth fly off from the ship yes, But NOT the epic choral music that plays when Will's heart is "removed" and the crew chant "Part of the Ship, Part of the Crew". Seriously, what the hell? That was the major reason that I bought it for. Why would they make 11 minutes of the love theme in different versions then end it with almost the whole Up is Down song? Im am majorly disappointed. I know it sounds like I'm whining or something but doesn't anybody think that the most important cue song should be released somehow... or am I alone in this sad state this "treasures" has put me in?

It is, in fact, som unreleased cues on the remix CD. The original synth demos.
It's actully 8 tracks with unreleased cues. NIIICE!
I have it in my hands right NOW!

Couldn't they throw in some unreleased cues into the first three discs? I mean, what's the point in releasing just the normal OSTs all over again? Nevertheless, I'm getting this just for the fourth disc (unreleased suites) :D Can't wait to listen to "Just Good Business"!!!

I do not understand the people who decided to sell this as one big box set. This is horrible to the loyal and dedicated fans who have already bought soundtracks 1-3...I really want Disc 4 with the music everyone wants...but somebody decided they needed to try and squeeze money out of the loyal fans. Terrible, just terrible. The music is awesome, but how can I be expected to play $75 basically for only the 8 songs I want from disc 4? This would be so cool if Disc 4 could be sold separately, instead- it's a total rip off.

Will this CD collection include the suite that Mr. Zimmer said he wrote for At World's End? He talked about it in one of his interviews with scorenotes.com and that sounded really sweet. Anybody have anything information on that?

Just wanted to say that 9 months ago, Disney sent us advice to remove all mp3 extracts regarding their releases from our website, that's why we didn't released any extracts from this score. I don't want to receive another letter from Burbank in my letterbox anymore. But when looking to the 3 pages of comments on this release and all your great comments, i do hope Mr Lance GRIFFIN can see we're not the enemy against his company its internationnal mail could let me think. On our website, Disney benefits from a great publicity for its VERY EXPENSIVE new CD (only cd 4 & dvd are interesting : 65 dollars for that).
And as we're stupid, we're not making money with this website, no publicity, no link on amazon or else ; all is paid by us ! We paid for Disney's CD to be known !!! I think CD like BRAVISEAMO(...) can tell us many thanks !
In exchange of what ? No interview (refused), no pictures or videos (ask ignored), we're only a fan website and considered as well ! They just tolerate us to speak from this release and don't ask anything in exchange, because it will be refused as we're only fans.
So i'm happy for Disney which can have his publicity on this website (250 000 visits/month), for amazon which will for sure have commands thanks to us, and always be proud to promote the work of all this great talented composers. I thank Disney to release one CD more for the pirates trilogy and dare to ask ; What about "The Lion King" ? Instead of fearing illegal music, release it ! Alan Menken had the release of "Music behind the Magic" for his oscarised beautiful score ? What about answering the 15 years dreams of thousands fans ?
But just remember people : torrent, illegal download and hans-zimmer.com are all about the same for the Disney company ! I hope such a fan release page and their imagination to evaluate the time to make such a website can make them think : "not exactly..."
And Mr ZIMMER is about to have his official website ; it will be more easy for him i think and we will be on holiday.

Thanks Sylvos, I fell better now! I listened to the samples on the german website but I didn't checked the lenght. Anyway, as you were saying on the forum, 45 minutes is still too short for a specific DVD about the music.

Let's hope that those featurettes will be as interesting and full of information as the Gladiator making of on the 2 DVD edition...

Sylvos reply Replies: 0 || 2007-11-28 00:00:00
ROFL!!! That is not right Jack. The DVD is about 45 minutes and something according to Rudi Völler in the discussion board. Come and ask yourself this, how would they demonstrate "Making of a Score" in one and half minutes? Honestly, that's exactly why they say never trust what Wikipedia says! ;-)

Jack reply Replies: 0 || 2007-11-28 00:00:00
Hi guys! Wikipedia says that the features on the bonus DVD will be the following ones:

Bonus DVD:
Chapter 1: Hans Zimmer: The Man Behind The Pirate's Music (3:40)
Chapter 2: Making of A Score (1:31)
Chapter 3: Premiere (8:05)

..ehm...quite short...

Hi

I just wanted to say how fantastic the music from all three movies is, very emotive, I always let the credits roll right to the end with the volume up, so that I can feel it as well as hear it. I can't wait for the Soundtrack Treasures to come out in December. I just wish I could find the lyrics to the song that the young boy sang in 'At Worlds End'.

Looking forward to the next installment. Happy writing.

Mandy

Actually, I think the samples are quite long. Most of the times, they're only 30 secs long.

Sidewinder reply Replies: 0 || 2007-11-25 00:00:00
Has anyone already heared some of the new music?
I think it's pretty cool. They've got samples at

yes :) I think Track 8 is the scene where the ships go in the maelstroem. But, I'm not sure about that! The Davy Jones-Track is great.....unfortunaly only a 1 minutes and 30 seconds-sample.....next friday is the release date here in switzerland! :)
