You guys are hilarious.and that means, tom did the perfect job. they wanted a shitty score and tom delivered. i am sure they would have fired desplat, williams or whoever, just because they would have failed. the task was to compose a shitty score and tom did that. their problem, if nobody buys the soundtrack album or avoid to see the film, just because of a bad filmscore. for us it is great, because we save money.The fact that the directors insisted on a shitty score doesn't absolve the score from being shitty.Go to JXL's Youtube channel and watch his latest video. He talks about the process of scoring the film. If you have a problem with the score, direct your criticism and complains at the director/producers/studio because JXL delivered the score they wanted. They wanted to stay away from themes and wanted an a very alternative score. If Tom didn't deliver that, they would've found someone else who would've done the job and you'll still complain that it doesn't sound how you wanted lol. <br><br>I've heard a couple of tracks which I liked a lot. <br><br>Stretcher Carry is avaibale on soundcloud. It' merely recreation but it's awesome almost like film version.
How can I answer that ?<br><br><br>"At the moment ?" is my only true answer for you lolOlive, if you think Brothers In Arms is nothing more than a RCP power anthem, then you're obviously missing something... To me it's one of the most brilliant action tracks of the last few years.Ola team ! <br>Maybe you do know Joe Kramer won't return to score Mission Impossible 6. And no one seems to know who will.<br>So here's my question : any chance to see someone from RC doing this ? <br><br>Thanks for reading me. Keep goin' your good job here, it's appreciated. :)<br>Wow. Pretty solid! It keeps the core track intact and, somehow, adds even more raw power into it. Thanks for sharing!
@MrZimmerFan<br><br><Is better because there is variety and orchestration><br><br>It is not because a score is orchestrated that it is automatically superior to one half orchestrated and half electronic. My problem with JL is that it's a small score for a composer with as many facets as Elfman. The music is uninspired and (taking one or another track) ends as it begins, nothing catches yours ears beyond of the romantic moments and of the new interpretations of the themes for the heroes.<br><br>@mpolonest<br><br><I actually love that score, but I think the main issue is Elfman completely ignoring what came before and trying to force the classic themes.><br><br>Elfman had two paths: Ignore everything and do things his way or respect what Zimmer did and maintain the sound of previous films. What did he do? He made an uninspiring hybrid of both.<br><br>@HybridSoldier<br><br><Leagues above, and yet I doubt Ben will be able to write something like "Brothers In Arms" from Mad Max.><br><br>Everyone in RCP knows how to do a power anthem these days.<br><br>@Mephariel<br><br><I would not have gotten a chance to work on blockbuster films like Dunkirk, Blade Runner 2049 without Zimmer's influence.><br><br>Obviously not. It could be in smaller jobs and present some potential for years to come.<br>I think I just sharted myself. Thanks!I'm surprised to have not seen more discussion of this score; I honestly think it represents some of the best music out of RCP in the past half-decade. Yeah, it still has the Journey to the Line / Time four-chord power anthem thing going on, but outside of those themes you have some really creative material that at times doesn't even feel stylistically RCP, and hell, even those structurally-simplistic themes are unusually well-orchestrated. And there's a real orchestra!Some of you may like this guy's cover of Brothers in Arms! Pretty epic, honestly. <br><br> com/watch?v=LCIY41hopq4This score has improved my mood on more than one occasion. Nancy Meyers needs to make another movie, so Hans can score it. lol.
Hello great team of Hans Zimmer,<br><br>I was recently listening to "The Might of Rome" (Gladiator soundtrack) and I am craving to listen the long version of the piece around 2:38 - 2:48 (something like an oriental flute). Does it exist as a standalone composition? Is it inspired from some third party artist, if yes, can you please tell my which one?<br><br>Thanks!@Olive<br><br>Wallfisch's career unquestionably benefited from his involvement with Zimmer. He wouldn't have gotten a chance to work on blockbuster films like Dunkirk, Blade Runner 2049 without Zimmer's influence. Wallfisch is a very talented composer, but let's be honest here, his music doesn't immediately strikes anyone as a big action guy. Having Zimmer's name pushing you helps.Hybrid, what do you admire more: Black Hawk Down or Tears of the Sun?"Elfman's score is like Whedon, horrendous & out of place."<br><br>Out of place, yes. Horrendous, no.Leagues above, and yet I doubt Ben will ever be able to write something like "Brothers In Arms" from Mad Max.<br><br>Comparing people is kinda useless...<br><br>The only who's right is Hans in the end, he knows when to use one and when to use the other... ;)

Amazing score by Steve Jablonsky, really good action soundtrack without the need to be noisy, themes like "Hope Runs Deep", puts goosebumps, one of the best score by Jablonsky undoubtedly

I just bought this and I love it.

MrZimmerFan2014-01-06 13:31:17
You should listen Gears 3, with Gears 2, both are awesome!

MacArthur2014-01-06 16:02:35
Is the Theme still the same, Love it.

Macejko2014-01-06 16:19:54
I think it's rather dull. Jablonsky can do better.

MrZimmerFan2014-01-06 19:46:21
Macejko, go to listen Ramin Djawadi, Gears of War 2 is one the Jablonsky's Best

Macejko2014-01-06 22:14:02
I cannot understand how someone can name this one of Jablonsky's best, when there are Transformers, Ender's Game of Your Highness out there.

MacArthur2014-01-06 22:19:23
Ramin's stuff is rather dull the only good stuff that he's done is Clash of the Titans & Iron Man (Safe House is Tolerable).

Zimmer's stuff is much better and so is Jablonsky's

Macejko2014-01-06 22:23:36
Classic Schmosby :)

Edmund Meinerts2014-01-07 01:28:34
This score has some great cues (Hope Runs Deep, Armored Prayer) and some awful ones (March of the Horde) but I do like it all in all, certainly more so than Ender's Game. Gears 3 is more consistent but less memorable, also worth a listen though (and yes, same theme).

Edmund Meinerts2014-01-07 02:28:35
Oh, and AVOID Gears of War: Judgment, whatever you do. Pure shit.

Ok I was listening to this score this morning and noticed something very interesting. If you listen to track 21 "With Sympathy" on the OST or to track 13 "Dom and Maria" on CD2 of the Complete Score both of those arrangements sound exactly like the song "Defeat (Theme 1)" from The Contender Promo Score. Basically, they're the same track with slightly different orchestrations again an homage to Jablonsky's work on that project.

I actually like the first soundtrack better. Its grittier,sparse has a sense of overwhelming odds and struggle about it just like the characters in the game.. This is bit too too glitzy hollywood for me.

This music is simply epic. I highly recommend this soundtrack. Hope Runs Deep and Rolling Thunder are just two examples of how well Steve took the original theme and added new elements to the works such as the choir. This was something not found of the GoW 1 soundtrack.

heard the score and it is very good, uses maybe two or three ideas from the first ost (also good) and mixes it with his own style.

Contains a mixture of transformers, command and conquer 3, island, steamboy (only in expanded bootlegg ripped version) and other scores of his previous works. ########

I'm new to this website, but isn't it supposed to be about Hans Zimmer's music?

Why is this soundtrack, not by him, being discussed?

Can someone please explan for me?

Had a chance to hear the music, really great...a step differently taken when Steve decides to make great music for massive battles.

I have already 3 songs and this promise to be a really good and epic soundtrack.

Lot's of use of choir which makes it really emotional comparing to Kevin Riepls score for Gears 1. Comparable to D-War. His best overal work so far for me...

The score will be released November 25th and not 11th November. A little bad news.

The line between games and films has pretty much faded. Games are more cinematic than ever and demand cinematic qualities like big budget scores. Now that the software allows for full scores composers aren't limited anymore.

I agree that composers like Giacchino, Lennertz and Tilton are examples of small composers getting their start in gaming but TV is also a good starting ground for up and coming composers.

Wow this is great! I did not know Jablonksy was scoring this. It's great that he's working on more projects now. This soundtrack should hold me over until he comes back with Transformers 2 :D

darth_siles reply Replies: 0 || 2008-10-13 00:00:00
I really like Jablonsky's job but i hate this! And it's not because it's not good music it's just because some years ago, videogames soundtracks were a good starting point for "rookie and amateur" composers (like me). Now, the pros make this kind of soundtracks...?? and what can amateur musicians do now?? :(

me reply Replies: 0 || 2008-10-13 00:00:00
I can't wait for this soundtrack. I love [most of] Steve Jablonsky's work. His scores for D-War and Transformers are among the top in my library. The first Gears of War video game score was less than forgettable. Hopefully Jablonsky can work his magic and really make this game unforgettable. Can't wait!

Falconet From Italy reply Replies: 0 || 2008-10-10 00:00:00
i hope that Steve keep the same style of his last score as such D-War and Transformers!
