For those of you disappointed in this score...remember...This is Bad Boys 3 lol....Have you heard Bad Boys 1+2? Cmon now...relax and take it for what it isI'd be surprised if we don't see some Wallfisch scores this year. He has been so prolific lately, would be weird to suddenly go an entire year without a single assignment.CD coming from LLL!Really liked this score, and the movie wasn't as bad as people claim as well... Benjamin Wallfisch does some very nice stuff, his horror scores are always on point like It 1 & 2, Annabelle: Creation, A Cure for Wellness...

I know he's gonna deliver it with Mortal Kombat even if the movie isn't that good. But kind of a bummer that his next scheduled project comes out in 2021 LOL'Cause maybe the expected all the cues from the sessions
I like this music!The #balfeness !!!! Has outdone himself on Bad Boys for Life.
A nod to the last but brought it up to date.
This and 6 Underground has blown me away with Balfe’s musici can't understand, when someone is saying "it REMINDS of mw2" when those mentioned cues are completely re-used 1:1. it's identical, sometimes layered with mancinas themes. it doesn't just remind you of mw2 when lorne seriously uses the identical tracks or parts from mw2 -_-

@bayhem: then listen to it. i'm not a fan of lorne, but his work there is real fun and some real good action cues. with the themes of Zimmer, it's crazy that it's just a game. one of or maybe THE best work of lorne!Colleague of mine (a film score fan too) asked me which new Balfe score is better in my opinion - Bad Boys for Life or 6 Underground?

Honestly - and as much as I praised BB3 - I couldn't decide......

Both movies have a lot of songs, which is something I don't like. Look at Transformers. There are songs too but they don't overshadow the score. The score is still the star and that's why people flood Steve's Twitter with praise. Day after day.

But sadly for Lorne, his recent work in film WAS indeed overshadowed by the random songs. If they didn't rely on songs so much, I'm sure that 6 Underground would've been the crown jewel for Lorne. It's a big, big movie that begs for equally big and memorable score (though we can't really expect Transformners-syze score).

At the end of the day, Lorne did good on 6 Underground but it was just a small sign of what COULD have been.....Some of the action bits, yeah......
This right here is my single biggest issue with Balfe as a composer. And with the recording sessions clips he posts it is truly a mystery. Tinfoil hat on I'd say he skimps on the budget and hires those musicians just for a couple hours to shoot those clips for PR and the actual score is all synth but that's a baseless claim of course lol...
....................

It's bigger than that.....

After all, this is a Bruckheimer production. His movies established Hans and the entire MV/RC sound. His movies are known for their awesome scores. Scores that are populrar with the ordinary viewers as well. But 2008 onward, things changed.....Back in the 90's and early 2000's every single Bruckheimer film had a spectacular score. Powerful, melodic themes, cues that stayed with you, scores that attracted the attention of the average Joe.

Nowadays tho, we don't have that. Hell, when was the last time a (newer) action score from MV/RC-related composer was praised the way 'The Rock' was praised?

Lorne's Mission Impossible? No. Not even close.

Personally, I like what Lorne did with BB3, especially with the emotional cues. But put it next to Mancina's work. I mean it's not even a contest. The Mancina score is one memorable, melodic track after another. There's not a single boring track. Every track is a banger.

But the newer scores? They have two or three tracks that are good and everything else is.......utterly forgettable.

I blame it on the lack of themes. Orchestra or not, more scores need to have actual themes.Some cues sound like Speed 2Guess I'm the only person around here who hasn't listened to the Modern Warfare 2 score. So I can't really have an opinion on this matter..... lolThis right here is my single biggest issue with Balfe as a composer. And with the recording sessions clips he posts it is truly a mystery. Tinfoil hat on I'd say he skimps on the budget and hires those musicians just for a couple hours to shoot those clips for PR and the actual score is all synth but that's a baseless claim of course lol...Everyone keep mentionning mw2 but those drums reminded me of...skylanders giants lol! Just listen to the track « Arena battle » and let me know
The clips are on his Facebook page.2/5 stars? Why are people hating on this?Me tooExcited!!!God’s gun theme reminds me of part of “River Mission” from Battlefield 2: Modern Combat OST. I think Lorne was an additional composer on that score aswell (excellent OST btw)

@ Richard Mrowczynski

what 2 disc album are you talking about?

Richard Mrowczynski reply Replies: 0 || 2009-07-05 00:00:00
I really enjoyed this soundtrack, as i do for the original Transformers Soundtrack. The only neagtive I have to say about it is that is is not very long i.e I think more tracks could have been added. I hope there is enough material there to do an expanded 2disc album like as was done for Transformers 1.
The music is deep and can evoke emotion. its fantastic!

Great! This one is still not rated by Hz.com. Let's put 1/10. I think there isn't anything good except for the mediocre Main Theme composed for the 1st movie, so it couldn't be honestly rated more than 1/10.

Is there a behind the scenes in the Score recording sessions? or any of the music scoring process?

Congrats for the score.

I think I hear some granular synthesis going on in some parts...? would be great to know if it´s really that. I am happy to say that listening to the score and sound design will help me put a bit out of this ¨feel¨ into a piece that I am writing right now. It is interesting how much of romanticism is printed on Film music but also a few things from contemporary music. This score gives so much to think about in what is missing in contemporary ¨academic¨ music in a way. Specially in ¨electroacustic music¨

Congratulations again.

I love the work that you guys do in movies. If it wasn't for the score the movies would be nothing. I always buy the score after the movie and relive the whole movie without watching. GREAT JOB!!!

I loved the movie. It was nothing but amazing cgi effects. Mudflap and his brother Skids were funny. All in all, I can't wait for the 3rd movie to come out.

On Steve Jablonsky's channel site (fan made); you can hear a wonderous extended, "Bumblebee Captured" theme. Where is it from? Here's the site:

http://www.steve-jablonsky.ch/

Keep clicking play music until it plays the right theme.

Finally, after watching the movie: The score as used for the movie is much better! :) I'm hoping for a "more music" release! There's some of great reuse of the old themes! :)

westfall reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-29 00:00:00
@ wow
the clip i heard we're parts of "Autobots" from the Transformers score, "Prime" from this score and "My Name Is Lincoln" from The Island score.

westfall reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-29 00:00:00
@wow

The fourth clip is "Dom and Maria" from Gears of War 2 score. As for the clip i said was "Autobots" it is actually "I Rise, You Fall" from Revenge of The Fallen.

Josh reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-29 00:00:00
I enoyed the score thoroughly. I noticed they strayed from the original theme of the autobots and decepticons within the movie as a theme. Great mix of electronic pads and synths with traditional orchestral stuff. I always enjoy seeing Hans and Steve mesh minds. great stuff.

I hope Jablonsky or the record company are looking to this site and many other sites and reviews so they will see all the complaining EVERYWHERE that we want MORE music and esp the old themes.

Please people, the music is there. Just release it. Even if it's in digital form only!

Usually it's a few people complaining about too less music being released, but in this case almost the whole internet is complaining and asking for a PROPER release...

basaterd reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-29 00:00:00
movie employs alot of rehashing of the Shard music.

Also NEST and NEW DIVIDE Bridge...

ALSO the original themes employed were quick and not very noteworthy - original album showcased them better.

ALSO - some songs on ROTF cd are shorter cuts than represented on film (FALLEN ARRIVAL is extended on film)

only piece i caught missing from cd was Megatron resurrection and ravage bit....

the released cd pretty much has all the music, save extensions, underscore, ravage theme, megtron theme...

@basaterd

Continue naming all the cues missing from official cd and you'll se how wrong you are!

WE NEED MORE MUSIC!!!!!

Icarus reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-29 00:00:00
After a first listening session i stilll prefer the first score which has more themes. However i like the voice in Revenge Of The Fallen.

Can somebody please tell me how is Steve Jablonsky's surname pronunced correctly? With J as in "just" or as Y in "you"? Thanx

Badguy reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-28 00:00:00
Why do you say PRIME is a inused in the film?? WHY?? DID YOU SEE THE MOVIE?? that theme we can listen it when Optimus and Sam talk about the war with the fallen... check it out the music... inclusive... the PRIME listen with the others themes in mix: INFINITE WHITE, specially...

westfall reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-28 00:00:00
@ Badguy

Prime is used as part of several cues in the film with different arrangements, many tracks in the CD have it, but the album version itself is not in the movie. 2 or 3 scenes have a close rendition, though.

@ A Sentient Being

Re-used tracks from the 1st film:
"Sam at the Lake" -> Sam's first scene with his parents; used again when Judy get high and goes on the rampage in college;
"Witwicky" (or one of the related themes like "Witwicky House") -> Sam meets Leo; used again when Sam, Mikaela, Simmons and Leo invade the Air and Space Museum (Edited together with a clip from "Camaro on the Run") and again in Egypt, 1st when Simmons is on the phone with Lennox and then when Sam discovers the 3 Kings..
These themes are unchanged, just like they were in the first film

The other reused themes from the 1st score are all different arrangements. These include "Arrival to Earth", "Autobots", "Optimus" (or "Bumblebee Captured"), "Bumblebee" (or "The Allspark) and "Scorponok".

When i watched it in the theatre i was too distracted enjoying the movie to note anything. Until i get a better soundclip this is the best i can do. If anyone is interested in a full rundown of the music of the film, i'll post it but it will be a big-ass post.

Thanks! If it's ok, you may post a full rundown of the music. See with the admin, if he says it's ok...

I would love to hear full rundown!!!!

westfall reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-27 00:00:00
if the admin don't have a problemwith that i'll post it. I have a double shift that starts at 16:00 and runs 'till 8:00 tomorrow, i have some time to kill during the night shift, writting this would be a way to do so.
Do note, there are a lot of NR's (Non-Released) cues in that rundown, i named some, others i just described the best i can, i didn't write any timmings down but the order is chronological. I just got a better audio file so any list i have is subject to change. So, i'll start writting this in about 10 hours, if admin have any issues, let me know.
