For those of you disappointed in this score...remember...This is Bad Boys 3 lol....Have you heard Bad Boys 1+2? Cmon now...relax and take it for what it isI'd be surprised if we don't see some Wallfisch scores this year. He has been so prolific lately, would be weird to suddenly go an entire year without a single assignment.CD coming from LLL!Really liked this score, and the movie wasn't as bad as people claim as well... Benjamin Wallfisch does some very nice stuff, his horror scores are always on point like It 1 & 2, Annabelle: Creation, A Cure for Wellness...

I know he's gonna deliver it with Mortal Kombat even if the movie isn't that good. But kind of a bummer that his next scheduled project comes out in 2021 LOL'Cause maybe the expected all the cues from the sessions
I like this music!The #balfeness !!!! Has outdone himself on Bad Boys for Life.
A nod to the last but brought it up to date.
This and 6 Underground has blown me away with Balfe’s musici can't understand, when someone is saying "it REMINDS of mw2" when those mentioned cues are completely re-used 1:1. it's identical, sometimes layered with mancinas themes. it doesn't just remind you of mw2 when lorne seriously uses the identical tracks or parts from mw2 -_-

@bayhem: then listen to it. i'm not a fan of lorne, but his work there is real fun and some real good action cues. with the themes of Zimmer, it's crazy that it's just a game. one of or maybe THE best work of lorne!Colleague of mine (a film score fan too) asked me which new Balfe score is better in my opinion - Bad Boys for Life or 6 Underground?

Honestly - and as much as I praised BB3 - I couldn't decide......

Both movies have a lot of songs, which is something I don't like. Look at Transformers. There are songs too but they don't overshadow the score. The score is still the star and that's why people flood Steve's Twitter with praise. Day after day.

But sadly for Lorne, his recent work in film WAS indeed overshadowed by the random songs. If they didn't rely on songs so much, I'm sure that 6 Underground would've been the crown jewel for Lorne. It's a big, big movie that begs for equally big and memorable score (though we can't really expect Transformners-syze score).

At the end of the day, Lorne did good on 6 Underground but it was just a small sign of what COULD have been.....Some of the action bits, yeah......
This right here is my single biggest issue with Balfe as a composer. And with the recording sessions clips he posts it is truly a mystery. Tinfoil hat on I'd say he skimps on the budget and hires those musicians just for a couple hours to shoot those clips for PR and the actual score is all synth but that's a baseless claim of course lol...
....................

It's bigger than that.....

After all, this is a Bruckheimer production. His movies established Hans and the entire MV/RC sound. His movies are known for their awesome scores. Scores that are populrar with the ordinary viewers as well. But 2008 onward, things changed.....Back in the 90's and early 2000's every single Bruckheimer film had a spectacular score. Powerful, melodic themes, cues that stayed with you, scores that attracted the attention of the average Joe.

Nowadays tho, we don't have that. Hell, when was the last time a (newer) action score from MV/RC-related composer was praised the way 'The Rock' was praised?

Lorne's Mission Impossible? No. Not even close.

Personally, I like what Lorne did with BB3, especially with the emotional cues. But put it next to Mancina's work. I mean it's not even a contest. The Mancina score is one memorable, melodic track after another. There's not a single boring track. Every track is a banger.

But the newer scores? They have two or three tracks that are good and everything else is.......utterly forgettable.

I blame it on the lack of themes. Orchestra or not, more scores need to have actual themes.Some cues sound like Speed 2Guess I'm the only person around here who hasn't listened to the Modern Warfare 2 score. So I can't really have an opinion on this matter..... lolThis right here is my single biggest issue with Balfe as a composer. And with the recording sessions clips he posts it is truly a mystery. Tinfoil hat on I'd say he skimps on the budget and hires those musicians just for a couple hours to shoot those clips for PR and the actual score is all synth but that's a baseless claim of course lol...Everyone keep mentionning mw2 but those drums reminded me of...skylanders giants lol! Just listen to the track « Arena battle » and let me know
The clips are on his Facebook page.2/5 stars? Why are people hating on this?Me tooExcited!!!God’s gun theme reminds me of part of “River Mission” from Battlefield 2: Modern Combat OST. I think Lorne was an additional composer on that score aswell (excellent OST btw)

I agree too. Transformers 2 needs a complete film score... not to mention the recording sessions.

@Dawn

No, not the shitty one that is out there now. The guy who is making it made an expanded release of Inception, and it's SFX free. So before you go assuming things, think before you type.

Any ideas on who...?

@SPF Studios,

Yes, but I don't want to say. IF and when it happens, I will post here that there is one out there

"I hear someone is working on a complete of this"
Somebody working on a complete score ? You mean, a complete dvd-rip with load of SFX and explosions, where you have to struggle to listen to small bits of undermixed music ? That's so great, I can't wait!!!

Yeah, this is irony ! =)
People have so much time to waste...

I hear someone is working on a complete of this

Thanks bud, glad you agree with me. Let's discuss this over EMAIL since that's what we do

Takehiro reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-25 00:00:00
I think its a bad idea not to have email addresses, or a private messaging function. The site could do with an overhaul in that respect. Its a lot better than having conversations on here, which end up taking away from the "leave comments about the score" idea, which is really what this is for.

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-25 00:00:00
Hybrid I got the message the first time. It's easier for me to exchange an Email address this way I can somewhat 'converse' more easily, like I have with so many other people from this board. It's a little more private, and on top of that, it's kind of annoying when people have full-blown conversations on here, post after post after post. I'm sure you understand. I wasn't doing anything wrong. But I will not longer do that, since you asked.

Dakota, please, stop requesting and posting your email... This is not a supermarket ! :S

@Dakota

Just FYI - This is my favorite cue, too. That is why I made a cover version of it. You'll find the music here at the cover versions section - Transformers - Optimus Prime enters Shanghai.

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-23 00:00:00
Those are some great unreleased cues, but there is a ton of other good stuff missing. Of the three you mentioned, I think Optimus dropping out the back of the C-17 is my favorite

Hale reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-23 00:00:00
Unfortunately, it's an unreleased cue, which is an arrangement of "Arrival to Earth". Probably it's not an arrangement from Jablonsky but from Balfe or another additional composer.

There is another great cue is missing, the landing of Optimus in Shangai at the beginning of the movie.

The third "great" missing-cue is the underscore part when Jetfire speaks to the heroes of the war of the Prime when they arrive in the desert.

PS-sorry for my bad english

'Signs 2' from the Magic Box website seems to make up a large portion of 'Einstein's Wrong'...
In that case, did Gire and Sponsler contribute to 'Einstein's Wrong' or is Signs 2 just their own arrangement of it?

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-23 00:00:00
Ok, thanks guys =)

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-23 00:00:00
SB, that shows exactly what Additional Arrangements means... Signs is the arrangement based on Einstein's Wrong...

So, even if the cue is credited to Gire/Sponsler, is remains mainly Jablonsky... Same for HZ scores... ;)

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-22 00:00:00
I hope it's bigger too. But there's STILL no Complete Score for this! WTF?!

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-22 00:00:00
Hybrid,

When you get a chance, could you please list who did what here? And on the first film also. Please, I love the Transformers scores. Thanks =)

Bondo reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-22 00:00:00
@ Dakota:

I believe Lorne Balfe composed "The Shard" and "The Fallen's Arrival" (with Zimmer), but I'm not sure about the rest of the score. Much of Transformers 1 sounds like The Dark Knight, leading me to believe a large chunk of that score was by Balfe as well. I know this is vague info, but I hope this helps!

Hybrid Soldier reply Replies: 0 || 2011-02-22 00:00:00
The first half of NEST is arranged by Ryeland Allison.

The Fallen's Arrival is partly Hans Zimmer / Lorne Balfe...

And yeah The Shard has Lorne Balfe too...

Apparently all the reste is Jablonsky, he mainly put his own cues on the OST, leaving most of Lorne's and all of Gire/Sponsler, Allison & Margeson out... :)
