Kung Fu Fighting (Celebration Time) on KFP3 also has a HZ credit despite again the booklet not crediting him for anything on it.I noticed that on Kung Fu Fighting here, Try on KFP3, and Here Comes the Sun on Bee Movie complete that there are primary composer credits on them (HZ, JP here, HZ on Try, Rupert on Here Comes the Sun) but both the film and booklet info doesn't credit them. Did they do ghost arranging/producing on them?Lorne Balfe score for Fallout was perfection so would be perfect for a Chris Nolan film. He also has worked with him on Dunkirk and Inception.But I expect and hope Hans is doing the score .If Hans is notworking with Nolan then Lorne Balfe should do it .So... Can it be considered as the second CD? Or something like that?
If Nolan is not working with Zimmer, Ludwig Göransson would be a dream choice for me. I really think he is an up and coming composer capable of great things.

But of course, I rather Nolan stick with Zimmer.Ludwig GöranssonNolan's movie IT IS CONFIRMED ;)As much as I liked Julyan's work - especially his score for Insomnia, don't think it would work. I mention Lorne because he has worked with Nolan as part of Zimmer's team and his sound is very familiar to Zimmer's.

Of course, everything is kept under wraps. I personally think Zimmer doesn't want to confirm his involvement so that he doesn't get asked about it. I mean the film starts filming in three months and we only have a date. Hans usually starts very early on Nolan's films that's what surprises me the most, if he really is in the dark with this one.I really can't see Nolan going back to Julyan. The guy's a TV composer at heart. He's not suited for these big epics Nolan keeps making. The last "major" movie he scored was The Cabin the Woods in 2012.
Trust me, I hope so !Stay calm folks, the name of the film has not yet been disclosed. When it announced, you see there ''Music by HANS ZIMMER''To be honest, Dunkirk kind of sounded like Nolan asking Hans to take inspiration from David Julyan anyway. In some ways.If Hans wouldn't score a Nolan project, just expect David Julyan, they are close friends you know...I certainly expect that Hans will score the Nolan movie, but we'll see. It's certainly possible that, like other directors Hans has worked with off and on, Nolan won't choose Zimmer for every project moving forward, but will still collaborate with him again on the right project. We'll see, I guess.
To me, Nolan and Zimmer have become inseparable so I'd be really surprised if he doesn't score the film. But if not Zimmer than who? Balfe? :D - Hope I didn't open the floodgates of hell...

Anyway, super excited and happy that Zimmer is scoring Dune. It was an obvious choice just glad it was confirmed - Would've also liked a collab with Wallfisch since BR2049 is one of my favorite scores.I hope Nolan and Hans haven't had a falling out.... I may not like every single choice they've made, but I always enjoy their collaborations and look forward to them.Apparently Zimmer didn't have a good time on Dunkirk (according to Nolan himself) but I never got the feeling that they weren't happy in the end about the score.WHAAAAAATTTTTT? Nolan's movie is not confirmed??? But Nolan-Zimmer is the rule, no? But why wouldn't Hans score Nolan's movie? Did something happen between them?Wait wait wait Nolan's movie for Hans is not confirmed... Far from it...

I really would like Powell to stop scoring animations and give us some powerfull action score - like Paycheck or Bourne.

DemonStar reply Replies: 0 || 2009-07-25 00:00:00
Well... Paul Greengrass' "Green Zone" is coming in December, so we can hope for more Bourne-esque action music there! ;-)

some parts are powerfull. I really like this soundtrack

The score is broken up into small tracks to isolate the choir bits. It is a SAG union issue. This is the only way to use all real choir on the disc and not substitute demo synth choir for the album

Greg reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-28 00:00:00
Why does Varese just keep dividing a track into several cues as soon as vocals are used ??? It was the same problem with X-MEN THE LAST STAND...

DemonStar reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-28 00:00:00
I think John Powell likes it that way. The same was the case with the Bolt soundtrack, and that was released by Disney. Looks like he's taken some inspiration from Thomas Newman... :P

Sylvos reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-28 00:00:00
My guess is that Johnny has an excess supply of track titles that must be used one way or another. Seriously though, I have no idea what makes this meaningful to Powell nor do I understand why they are selling the albums in this form on digital download stores. Would you want to pay the same price you pay for a 3 minute cue for another 10 second cue as well, only to have that part of the 3 minute cue that plays in the 10 second cue? Insane.

No, Bolt wasn't at all shattered like Ice 3 cues are. Bolt was butchered more or less to meet the target 30 minutes running time ~ ALA avoid paying additional re-use fees (fees must be paid for every 15 minutes or so I was told.)

DemonStar reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-28 00:00:00
Actually, in MP3 form if you try to join the two continuing tracks together then the transition is not smooth, because during MP3 encoding a very small portion of the beginning and ending of the track is chopped off. I don't know if there's a configuration to avoid that, though.

Sylvos reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-28 00:00:00
That depends on the encoder software one uses and some tiny configurations which are dead easy to set. Few are software that do the job right though and almost all of them are not free.

MP3s purchased from Play.com do not have this problem by the way. Dunno about other vendors.

Another fun score by JP! :)

Really like the reprises of the earlier themes here. Buck's theme is fantastic and the action music is great too. Loving it!

I'm assuming this is the complete score - I can't imagine why else they would include a 13 second track on a commercially available album.

DemonStar reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-03 00:00:00
Yup, looks more or less complete to me. The short tracks don't bother me much because it's pretty easy to join them together in case they continue into each other. At least the overall running time is almost 70 minutes (even more than the previous one) and it's a quality CD release. Can't wait!

Joe reply Replies: 0 || 2009-06-03 00:00:00
