Gavin should be listed as conductorBecause Ice Age was composed by David Newman and Collision Course was composed by John DebneyWhen i heard just the sound clips, i thought wtf. Sounds like the worst score, a michael bay movie ever had. Then i listened to the whole album and i have to say, there are some pretty cool tracks. I really like the electronic rhythmic stuff. Welcome to florence is awesome. The emotional moments are nice, but standard balfe stuff. In the movie, the music works really good. I think this music style is the only style, that works in THIS movie. And as hybrid says a mish mash of score and songs. The movie itself is.....strange. but at least the action rocks as hell.If "The Meltdown," "Dawn of The Dinosaurs" and "Continental Drift" are added, then how come "Ice Age" and "Collision Course" aren't?I haven't heard the album yet but there isn't much score in the film. It's like Bad Boys II meets Domino in terms of editing, songs everywhere (19 sourced songs used), short cues... Hell there even a 13 Hours cue tracked in the film ("Getting Aboard The Plane").
"Second time"... lolAnother awsome score by lorne balfe. I really like the film 6 underground directed by michael bay, is very awsome and intense and i begin to hear the score composed by lorne balfe, and its phenomenal and his second time working with michael bay since 13 hours, which i like lorne balfe's score too. Balfe's work is really inspiring in his film score.I don't expect Lorne to make a masterpiece with each movie, but it is true that most of her films are action candies, and I can't understand how she can deliver 6 underground and then make His dark materials. It seems that within Lorne there are a thousand different composers. And I don't know what to expect from Lorne again.Can't help noticing not one, but two Zimmer titles in here.... Tracks 14 and 16. lol.What is most disappointing is that this is a Michael Bay movie with a score being so bad. Historically his movies have fantastic scores by either Hans, Steve Jablonsky, and even Lorne Balfe. But this is hands down the worst Michael Bay score I’ve ever heard.

It’s functional, yes, but nothing compared to 13 Hours, any of the Transformers movies, The Rock, Pearl Harbor, etc. I definitely had high hopes for another good “power anthem” score... and the only cues that are any good are just Time ripoffs.

Highly disappointing.
Again, if we have to expect every piece of work of one composer is have to be as good like his others pieces of work, that's pretty underwhelming and impossible.

Yeah, 6 Underground is not a good score by any means (neither Gemini Man, but is far more listenable), but works perfectly in the hiperbolic movie.I expected a lot from this score, and the truth is that it left me cold. Honestly, I think it is Bay's fault, Balfe has shown that he is capable of doing everything, but here it gives the feeling of being covered. Again, Balfe must focus on fewer projects and the projects he accepts are of quality.There are speculations about the track "Til Death Do Us Part "as being composed by Brandon Campbell. Can anyone confirm whether it was Djawadi or Campbell who composed it?Come to Portugal again.> which ones are listenable
all of the ones I listed are the melodic/orchestral moments in the score not counting Memories and Beautiful Sunday.
Listen to Haunt the Living, Thrones, A Million Battles or One, But Not Done and tell me that the score is a travesty.
Knight - okay, let us know which ones of these tracks are even listenable? Hyperbolic nonsense defines this score, but I do not blame Balfe - this would have been what Bay wanted. Such a shame to see his artistic credibility reduced to this after the stellar work on His Dark Materials and acceptable material on Gemini Man,.Maybe try using your ears or brain next time before spewing out more hyperbolic nonsense.Ok tracks? Easy. About half the score is some decent anthemic tracks

Ghosts
Haunt the Living
I Am the Danger
You Can Change the World
Thrones
A Million Battles
One, But Not DoneOh wow, Balfe's had a potentially too productive year. I am still convinced if he took more time to compose His Dark Materials, it would be a classic on the level of Shore. Now, it is fine and impressive.

But what the fuck. I know Bay is a lucrative customer and you have to do what he wants but this 'score' is a travesty that will be buried soon. Seriously. This is the worst of the worst, I ask anyone on this site to name one track that is 'ok', there's an ethical limit, Balfe, Baby!Do not forget Lisboa

Great, Tim! Now all we need is someone to upload it with English subtitles!

The documentary was really great !

It can be watched online for 7 days here :

h t t p ://videos.arte.tv/fr/videos/hans_zimmer-3759850.html

I don't know if there are any country restriction, and it's dubbed in French or German (most of it was spoken in English).

But it was really interesting, about HZ's past ! And it did not forget RCP, like most of the featurettes about HZ... There was Martin Tillman, Lorne Balfe, Ramin Djawadi... :)

Ele reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-15 00:00:00
As for Tillman, why he's not present in latest RCP scores? Zimmer & Co started to use Tina instead of him or what?

Tim reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-15 00:00:00
Maybe he's on other projects which has nothing to do with RCP?

Tim reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-14 00:00:00
just watched the Zimmer doc! Awesome! A lot of Lorne quotes. He's such an honest guy:
On his first day at RCP Hans asked Lorne if he's aware of the computer programm which is usually used to compose the score. Lorne was like "No...*pause* I'm joking of course I am!" dispite he wasn't aware! :) so he stidied the instruction book all night...

self edited "expanded" scores?? that isn't worth to check out! Dark Knight 3 CD Complete or an equal edition of Inception...that would be worth dying for!!

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-10 00:00:00
Oops I apologize, it's called LostScores

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-10 00:00:00
@Tim & 4tseven,

That is the so-called 'expanded' score. I found it on the blog thescoreplace. The guy makes his own custom covers. I posted a link for the over a month or two ago. I think it's a fake.

Tim reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-08 00:00:00
@4steven: Where did you find that picture? Maybe it's a fake?!

HANS ZIMMER - a man that has no longer to work for glory and honor....

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-03 00:00:00
Every composer wishes they could be Hans Zimmer =)

zimmerfan reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-03 00:00:00
or is Michael Wandmacher really hans zimmer? :p nah, not likely...

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-03 00:00:00
Wow. Unless there's something I don't know about - Michael Wandmacher straight up plagiarized Hans Zimmer.

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-03 00:00:00
@Anya,

Is the Drive Angry Soundtrack out yet? I know it's been released digitally, but I want to download it (not through iTunes....I will get it eventually). I'll have to listen to the sample of it in iTunes.

Anya reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-02 00:00:00
As said Dakota below, the track "Mass VS Acceleration" in "Drive Angry" sounds just like Mombasa, it's pretty perplexing and plagiarism to me.
Too bad Inception didn't get the Oscar, this OST fits so perfectly the movie ! (but I couldn't chose between this and HTTYD)

Tim reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-01 00:00:00
ja, i see! :) well, I think all the suite kinda stuff (Time, Waiting for a Train, Old Souls and so forth) is composed by Hans while Lorne did all the tracks for the scenes in particular (Radical Notion, 528491).

Fisher reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-01 00:00:00
my money is on radical notion having lorne be a part of it.

Dakota reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-01 00:00:00
Do you know what he sounds like?

Prott reply Replies: 0 || 2011-03-01 00:00:00
Tim: I agree...
you can hear it quite well in Dream is Collapsing (Hans) VS end of Projections (Lorne arrangement of the same theme). :)
