well, maybe it wasn't that angry and loud as he expected so it became an abondoned concept. but that's his job = making direct choices. so he did the chant in a different way. BUT... the chant is really an interesting topic to talk about because I think it was an amazing idea but it was presented so badly in the film and also in the score release. the mix is soo awful. you have to use headphones to hear it. especially in Imagine The Fire (one of the best hollywood-blockbuster-action-here-comes-Chris-Nolan track ever) so what Hans created is again beyond imagination but the mix or I don't know what I'm not a composer but it yust doesn't sound right to my ear. I can't wake up my neighbours with the chant... I'm not disappointed, I'm angry

Personnally i think the chant is very cool and well used! Maybe not über-loud but still nice!

About the chant: if thousands of people screamed at once, I don't think we would get a 'clean' sound anyway. I believe Hans mixed it in that diffuse way, kinda stifled by the orchestrated elements to improve the deep original proposition of the chant: it's like a ghost that keeps reminding you of what you are and what you need to be. The chant is the heart of the soundtrack and the orchestra builds itself upon it and envelope it, keeping the chant deep inside - there where you can't reach but you can't run from as well. Love the soundtrack.

The voices mixed so bad! like ''Angels & Demons'' are apathetic and ridiculous!
I really need to have the Track "Legendary" from trailer 3. i have the Dark knight rise's OST but was disopointed it was not there as personaly this was the moast anticipated track for the movie soundtrack. Is there anywhere i can download a genuine copy or will it become avalible on itunes in the near future. Reguards UK's #1 Dark Knight fan.
Epic film deserves epic music - that's not it. Standard RCP music. There's even Scorpionok in there! 5/10 - will verify after movie.
Where is that incredible stuff that HZ did with huge orchestra? He said that this will be something crazy, that he never had done.

Exactly how it looks like ... The german word for "promise" has two meanings. "Versprechen" means "promise" or "misspeak". Maybe we just misunderstood him.

He probably meant, a huge choir.
But I don't think this is standard RCP music. It's a great score, epic music for what looks like an epic film, a wonderful progression and development of the previous entries in the franchise, and above all, it's a million miles better than all the drivel that comes out of people like Djawadi, Jablonsky, Jackman, Zanelli, Orvarsson, Dooley, Margeson, and Balfe when they go for solo efforts.

X-Men First Class is better, when it comes to comic-based score.
Bane and Catwoman has nice themes, but thats it. I just expected more, especially after very weak Sherlock and Pirates.
It's missing a number of the great tracks featured in the trailers. Namely all the tracks from the Official Trailer 3. Kind of disappointing, hope they will be released sometime.

It was released as a HD MP3 in the audio download package from the "Imported from Gotham City" contest. Not only that, but they packed it with the stems (meaning they also released the separate recordings that it was made from, the violins in one file, the chanting in another, all separated, etc.)
