Nop, you're not the only one.

I can say everything i listen John Powell is something with quality and personality.

How to Train Your Dragon is one of his best. You are missing out.

But I may be the only person who thinks Face/Off is one of his best scores. I love that score more than nearly any John Powell scores.I'm agree thatThey are independent events, but I think they are working in conjunction with each other. I based this on the description on the Vienna website. Their program is called The World of Hans Zimmer and some of the arrangements will be written by Zimmer himself. That leads me to believe this year's gala is a bit different and is just a stop for Zimmer's tour.Probably not. The two are indepedent events.
@Edmund

actually i wasn't interested in the Dragon scores...or Pan, for that matter. Xmen 3 wasn't too bad, but he still had that tight RCP score techniques...Yeah, I think he must have changed his methods since Hancock/Green Zone...Because I'm not interested in hsi work after that. Must be those pesky drums he doesnt use anymore?Yeah, I know there's more than just the main theme in those Trek scores, I was just exaggerating to make a point. :pPretty sure the reason HGW works with Washington so often is because Tony Scott worked with him so often... :pWait, Meta, you haven't liked Powell since Hancock? This despite putting out his career peak in the How to Train Your Dragon scores? I mean, if there's anything that proves he's got the chops for Star Wars style orchestral and thematic music, it's those two (and X-Men: The Last Stand, and Pan).Excellent score! Reminds me of pieces of The Rock, BHD, Drop Zone, stuff from The Pacific. Great job Andrew! Nice themes! Fun RCP stuff!
Yes it was announced a while back, Harry returns !I can confirm that he is working on it.I'm waiting for Harry's response for returning for the sequel or not? My opinion is, I think Harry seem like working with Denzel Washington often in the movies like Man Of Fire, Deja Vu, and The Taking Of Pelham 123 and Unstoppable, The Equalizer, I think Antoine Fuqua director should hire him back again, but I don't know if his schedule conflicts with busy working with MEG Score.@superultramegaa and others

Honestly, if you take an objective look back, you can still see RC written all over Powell...And thats all well and good, because I like Powell. Well, maybe not since Hancock, but I like his style.

That being said, This will be the official first Star Wars outing with an RC score. Sure, Williams phoned in a theme...But going forward I expect RC influence to be the norm.

And, as for Giacchino...Jesus Christ. For someone who practically MADE his career apeing Williams (Jurassic Park and Medal of Honor video games spring to mind), his Rogue One was dreadful...I cant disagree with you.

Powell is heavily influenced by Zimmer. The only thing that differs him from the others is that he really has a style of his own that matches the traces of the career he shared with Zimmer. If you listen to any of your action scores, you will notice that they are clearly RCP scores. Even the orchestral, especially "Pan" have some passages that are very reminiscent of Pirates, Prince of Egypt and Gladiator.
Really awesome "Is She With You?" cover by Nir Shor!Hey Hybrid Soldier, is Harry returning for the Sequel??Hybrid, Hollywood in Vienna just announced that Zimmer will be receiving the Max Steiner award. Do you know if the Hollywood in Vienna program the same as the The World of Hans Zimmer program? If it is, King Arthur is confirmed to be in the program as well.I wasn't saying Powell sounds like Williams. I'm saying he's closer in sound to Williams than he is to Zimmer for his animated movies. While John Powell is usually far more melodic and classical than your usual RCP composer, I don't see the Williams similarity. His music doesn't really sounds like Williams' scores. But I think he is perfect for Star Wars. I am much more excited about this than Giacchino's Rogue One.

Hans so where is that voices by people of th world?!!! i knew that was a commercial joke.

matthew2012-08-18 21:38:25
well, maybe it wasn't that angry and loud as he expected so it became an abondoned concept. but that's his job = making direct choices. so he did the chant in a different way. BUT...
the chant is really an interesting topic to talk about because
I think it was an amazing idea but it was presented so badly in the film and also in the score release. the mix is soo awful.
you have to use headphones to hear it. especially in Imagine The Fire (one of the best hollywood-blockbuster-action-here-comes-Chris-Nolan track ever)
so what Hans created is again beyond imagination but the mix or I don't know what I'm not a composer but it yust doesn't sound right to my ear. I can't wake up my neighbours with the chant...
I'm not disappointed, I'm angry

Personnally i think the chant is very cool and well used! Maybe not über-loud but still nice!

About the chant: if thousands of people screamed at once, I don't think we would get a 'clean' sound anyway. I believe Hans mixed it in that diffuse way, kinda stifled by the orchestrated elements to improve the deep original proposition of the chant: it's like a ghost that keeps reminding you of what you are and what you need to be. The chant is the heart of the soundtrack and the orchestra builds itself upon it and envelope it, keeping the chant deep inside - there where you can't reach but you can't run from as well. Love the soundtrack.

The voices mixed so bad! like ''Angels & Demons'' are apathetic and ridiculous!

Repeating of previous versions along with inception shadows, This is weakest in the series!

Epic film deserves epic music - that's not it. Standard RCP music. There's even Scorpionok in there!
5/10 - will verify after movie.

Where is that incredible stuff that HZ did with huge orchestra? He said that this will be something crazy, that he never had done.

ananymous2012-07-11 18:11:59
Exactly how it looks like ...
The german word for "promise" has two meanings.
"Versprechen" means "promise" or "misspeak".
Maybe we just misunderstood him.

Pierre2012-07-11 18:56:38
He probably meant, a huge choir.

But I don't think this is standard RCP music. It's a great score, epic music for what looks like an epic film, a wonderful progression and development of the previous entries in the franchise, and above all, it's a million miles better than all the drivel that comes out of people like Djawadi, Jablonsky, Jackman, Zanelli, Orvarsson, Dooley, Margeson, and Balfe when they go for solo efforts.

tomPoland2012-07-12 07:51:58
X-Men First Class is better, when it comes to comic-based score.

Bane and Catwoman has nice themes, but thats it.
I just expected more, especially after very weak Sherlock and Pirates.

It's missing a number of the great tracks featured in the trailers. Namely all the tracks from the Official Trailer 3. Kind of disappointing, hope they will be released sometime.

lol2012-07-11 22:03:01
It was released as a HD MP3 in the audio download package from the "Imported from Gotham City" contest. Not only that, but they packed it with the stems (meaning they also released the separate recordings that it was made from, the violins in one file, the chanting in another, all separated, etc.)
