Great this is geting a release!
I am from Greece and the same is Nikos Mastorakis, the director.
He always recalls working with Hans Zimmer and Stanley Myers here.Ultimate masterpiece... 8-) lolVery impressed with the music from this season. Enjoying listening to it.there doesnít seem to be much of the main theme used ?man, i think i haven't listened to "A Dark Knight" deep enough. so many things i picked up from listening to it recently. oh by the way, it's Dunkirk that's making me go back and listen to the old scores. One of the most beautiful choral pieces of the 21st C. Mr. Zimmer please make this original London recording available in a cd (320kbps) or a lostless version to be able to enjoy its full beauty. The version on YouTube is just muddy cruddy. And the version on the Prague cd is not a chorus of this caliber. Plz plz plz! Gratefully, Philip
...why is Eric Whitacre's credit being omitted?Music is royal and grand and the show is very good. Looking forward to more seasonsGreat score! Lots of fun.Your Majesty is addictive and could listen to this also day long. Was Theme is last year ?Now, what do you thinnk anout the score?

There are two things that made me underappreciate the score: first these full credits (upset that perhaps a good track might havenot been written by POwell himself) and the fact that Powell will score Han Solo (expectation that this might be a trial score)

But,

"Madrid Finale" is clearly 5 star track, and so many nods to classical era of film score.

There are 4 themes that i can gather:
Ferdinand theme
Flower Theme
"Caring" theme
and "bad guy" theme
and all of them are good ( not as powerful as HTTYD though)

But, i find some action writing to be quite generic ( Anthony B Willis is to blame i guess)

Suffice to say that this is already a 4 star score because this is as subtle as you can get from hyperactive Powell's animation scores
This score is BRILLIANT.Just started watching this season and the music is spot on especially the Princess Margaret episode. Gregson-Williams and Balfe have create a great score to this season.more intamint and emotional than before@Bob

Thank you for the enlightment, I will consider opening my wrists for misconduct in the next few days, thank you very much... :o

Ok seriously though, you guys should know that if there's one guy that could not care less about awards... it's Hans... :)I am really enjoying his season of the Crown.a big balfe influence in this season with hints of Churchil and Genius I think. Really excellent music/ it's me
@ds "Ramin is also doing a lot of projects but is far, far behind in terms of styles and creativity."

I think the same for Jablonsky, Zanelli, XL, Jackman and Mancina.@macejko

"All the time he acts like the hottest shit in town, refusing to score basically everything they offer him"

You said in another comment that you never read an interview with Powell, so not reason you take that kind of conclusion of your character.

"The man hides in a cave, doesn't evolve at all and for some mysterious reason he is still revered like a second coming of Jesus Christ."
Powell is a clearly talented composer. He suffered criticism at the beginning of his career by sounding like Zimmer, but soon showed substance. And much more than that created an identifiable style, which today is reference to other scores of modern animations (which may be good or bad to depend on of the point of view).
Today he is an established composer and it is common for these composers to move away for a few years or even close their careers without many explanations for the public. In recent years we watched the estrangement of Silvestri, Horner, Williams and in the past we saw Faltemeyer, Bill Conti and Brad Fiedel drop their careers when they were at the top of the game.

" Say anything you will about Lorne Balfe, but at least he is working his ass off and slowly getting better and better"

As they said in another comment, you're compared to newbies and veterans. Balfe's having the opportunity of his life now. Take it or leave it. There's no choice. Powell, as well as Zimmer others, on the other hand, is a "senior member" of the club. He can afford to go away for a few years to resolve comprehensible personal problems without affecting the hard work he has developed in the last 20 years. Will Balfe continue to be so creative in 10 or 15 years?

@ds

"
Powell has nothing to prove, he has already mastered all genres"

That's funny, but it's fair. Powell Is a good composer. Not the best, far from it. Your style really narrows your work down, but we can say that from all the composers out there. So it's not a problem. The problem is he wants to limit his work to animations and fantasy.because he abhors gratuitous violence.

@george

". Although, I hate to say it, we could say the same for Zimmer in my opinion"

Zimmer's at the end of his career. All the other composers when they arrived at 60 years (with the exception of JNH, Goldsmith and Morricone) reduced the amount of projects per year and went on to choose their work best. It's a natural way.Over the years, it tends to get worse with one exception here and there. Don't keep expectations like he's in his prime

"he has "nothing more to prove", he is creatively dead."

Powell will work with a little more frequently in the coming years (or not) that only depends on his ambitions. However, frankly, he's never going to do three again. 4.5. 6 projects in a year. It takes a lot of motivation for that.

Just listened to the whole thing, kind of a let down. Nothing interessting except for some action moments. Donít even recall hearing some sort of theme. Overall it was like listening to Cars 4: Spanish World Cup.I have already listened to The Jumanji Overture and I must say it sounds really great. Let's see how the rest of the score sounds.Tracklist with track duration:
01. The Jumanji Overture (03:20)
02. Digging Up The Past (01:43)
03. Brantfort High (01:09)
04. Into The Jungle (01:23)
05. Out of Character (02:31)
06. The Legend of the Jewel (02:23)
07. The Adventure Begins (01:40)
08. Special Abilities (01:16)
09. The Bikers (03:44)
10. The Missing Piece (01:46)
17. Lost In Time (01:18)
18. Flirting With Danger (01:36)
19. Albino Rhinos (03:44)
20. Retrieving the Emerald (01:54)
21. Out of Lives (01:49)
22. There's a new, 6-minute promotional video, and I'm 100% sure all of the music is from the score. And it sounds really nice! I hope there will be an album release.

Watch it here: allocine.fr/article/fichearticle_gen_carticle=18641720.html

I'm pretty sure its Zimmer & Harvey, the music around 2 minute reminds me Zimmer's music for Celebrate Oscar

The trailer says "Music by Hans Zimmer and Richard Harvey"!

Anonymous2015-04-30 03:29:35
Richard Harvey did some stuff on The Da Vinci Code :D

Lots of collaborations this year.

The film will premier in Cannes! Hope we can have the album soon after that!

I really hope the stay true to the dreamy tone of the book. HZ will have to create another genre here, like Interstellar or Inception, or Batman Begins before that, or . . . ah, screw this list! Pirates! (Had to say it.)

RealFfingMusic2014-12-14 06:42:10
USE YOUR OWN F**KING NAME!!! Grrrr . . .

I have read the book, the tone is kinda like Corpse Bride of 2005. It is a very seripous and deep book, NOT "Dreamy"!

RealFfingMusic2014-12-14 06:43:28
*serious*. And by tone, I meant narrative.

Zimson2014-12-14 11:42:38
I expect something like Hugo or Amelie (see trailer music). It seems like they adapted the film for the 21st century.

jsdamian2014-12-24 14:32:29
is the trailer music part of the score?

I hope, it's beautiful

New project for Hans, if he can really manage to put it in his schedule ! lol

Zimson2014-12-10 13:15:10
First thing I thought.^^ He's really going to be busy that year.

Anonymous2014-12-10 15:09:12
ha...yeah, and he'll probably end up only writing 10 minutes of music tops for KFP3... :P so that shouldn't be a problem... lol

Anonymous2014-12-10 15:13:21
mmm, to be honest, this sounds like one of those projects that will only carry his name for marketing purposes. While I won't be surprised if he ends up contributing a thing or two, I do wonder who's going to do the bulk of the job on this.

Is Powell returning for the third Panda film, btw? If not it'd be fun to have Jackman scoring it with Zimmer. A little throwback to the original film's style, perhaps?

Anonymous2014-12-11 07:15:08
He will probably score the new Nancy Meyers movie too. It is called "The Intern" I think.

It took me a while to realize that it's based on that "coelhian" collection of painfully simplistic and obvious truths, that somehow reached cult status. Drinking and greed are bad bad bad = yay for literary legend!

Lambegue2014-12-10 13:00:02
I also hoped for a moment that it would be an adaptation of the original book...So much can be done with it...And it would have been such an unusual assignment for Hans !
